So the Devil has a club...
Date of Scene: 19 May 2022
Location: Club Lux, Melville
Synopsis: Lucifer meets someone new and interesting when Xiang Zhao strolls into his club.
Cast of Characters: Lucifer, Xiang Zhao

Lucifer has posed:
The night has begun like most weeknights do. It's slower in these early evening hours. Some people dwell at the bar, sipping their overpriced drinks and mulling conversation. Others sit at tables on the lower level, eying the dance floor where nothing is quite happening just yet. And as always, the illustrious owner dressed immaculately from head to toe in a black suit with red undertones and red handkerchief tucked in the left breast pocket, stands in his little upper nook with drink in hand. He takes in the lacking presence of patrons and heaves a soft sigh. "Maybe I should start opening later..."

Xiang Zhao has posed:
For as long as he's been in this city, Xiang Zhao still runs across things he hasn't ever seen before. This place, Lux, from the name on the outside of the buidling, is one of them. He doesn't look like any of the patrons currently within. Hemight not look like any that have been within this particular location before. And he's a sharp contrast to Lucifer's immaculate black suit. For starters, it's white today. Robes, with heather grey embroidery along the lower hems in an imitation of sedge grass. Along the sleeves a silvery grey in a swirling cloud pattern. On his shoulders, chest, and back, smokey grey cranes in flight. In his right hand, an open folding fan that never stops moving, a slow and steady pace. Languid, almost lazy. His long dark hair is gathered at the top, a plain white piece of jade thrust through it. From head to toe, he is all flowing elegance. His motions are serene and graceful, even as he steps within. The fan faulters for a hair of moment as the sounds and lights assault his senses.

Lucifer has posed:
Even if he wasn't looking over the entirety of his club, there is no missing the *different* that just walked through the door. Eyes shift over to give the man a once over before he lifts his glass to take a slow drink and then lets his eyes move onward. Perhaps he's just waiting for a moment to approach. See what this newcomer does or where he goes before introducing himself. Doesn't want to make the man feel crowded or unwelcomed now, does he? Still, a whole lot of interesting just walked in and Lucifer's curiosity is piqued.

Xiang Zhao has posed:
A whole lot of interesting indeed. A whole lot of interesting who's magic doesn't interact well with anything that has programs in it. Thankfully, he's presently far enough away from any such things that nothing is affected. For now, at least. If he gets in range of surveillance cameras, those start going wonky. Xiang Zhao does walk further on into the establishment and looks around. For all the serenity he displays, almost exudes, there's a curiosity held within his eyes that says he's never been in a place like this before. And so, he walks slowly, looking around.

Lucifer has posed:
There are cameras, and he may affect one or two, but most of them are up along the ceiling and point towards the bars and the dance floor for the most part. He'll likely want to stay away from the back upper area where Lucifer has recently installed a casino within but otherwise it'll be curious to see just what affects and how. As the man walks further in with that slow pace, Lucifer draws a smirk and then turns. One step. Two. Then he's standing nearer to the man, closer in the blink of an eye. "Hello and welcome. Is there anything that I can help you with?"

Xiang Zhao has posed:
That being the case, Xiang Zhao's magic probably won't affect anything in this place, so long as he doesn't go into the casino. In the casino... well. He'll either be very good for the owner's profits, or very bad. He turns to walk toward the bar as Lucifer starts to move. This time, Xiang's fan doesn't stop moving, doesn't speed up nor slow down. He blinks once, his eyes staying upon Lucifer's face. "That was interesting." The teleportation, of course. Clearly, the sudden teleportation, appearing in front of him, was less startling than the sound within this place had been. But, to the question... "What is this place? Is it a diner?" That might be the closest analogue he has.

Lucifer has posed:
Most don't really notice the sudden teleportation that Lucifer does. At least not for what it is. They simply don't see him and then they do. It's quite a fun thing to do most times. "Interesting?" He doesn't actually know that the man is referring to his teleportation. After a moment, as the man speaks further, Lucifer tilts his head a bit and then shakes it a couple of times. "No. Not a diner. Though we do have a small selection of food on menu. This is a club. We serve alcohol, offer people a place to dance, to hang out and talk...among..." He flits fingers through the air then. "Other things." A smile then, his signature grin. "I am Lucifer. To whom do I owe the pleasure?"

Xiang Zhao has posed:
Xiang Zhao has seen a heck of a lot of things in his short span of years. A good portion of those things distinctly unfriendly. Most of those downright aggressive. The teleportation itself? Probably not. But Lucifer being at point A and then point B? Yes. Assumption that the ability, whatever it is, would be something good to have? Definitely. The act itself? Nope. The aura of the man? Demon? Devil? Perhaps. If he has, he's not letting on about it! Xiang Zhao looks intrigued about the dancing. "I do quite enjoy a good dance, though it may not be something any here is used to." His lips curl up ever so slightly, amused at himself. "What sort of alcohol? Do you have rice wine?" He hasn't had that in some time now! He half bows to Lucifer in a very ancient China sort of thing. "Xiang Zhao. Pleasure."

Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer considers for a moment and then smirks. "The presence of rice wine in my collection varies on a few things." He notes the accent in the man's words and tries to put a finger or two on it. Though he doesn't quite try to guess it so immediately but his brain is working on figuring it out a bit. "It might happen that I've done some deals quite recently and acquired some in my personal stash. If you would like, I could make a certain exception and bring it out for you to partake. I know rice wine - good proper rice wine - is very hard to find in America." A pause. "Also. My place is one of freedom. If the muse hits you to dance...then dance. However you wish. If anyone says anything about it. They will answer to me. And I don't ask nicely."

Xiang Zhao has posed:
"I would say yes to a good, proper rice wine. It is as difficult to find as proper tea." Zhao pauses and glances toward the dance floor below. Such as it is with the small amount of people in here at present. "Perhaps," he says, of dancing. He looks back to Lucifer. "How much for the wine?" He turns to glance around again, that small smile still in place as he continues to take the place in. It's a different kind of place. And he quite enjoys new.

Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer smiles and shifts, extending an arm to beckon Xiang to follow him over to the corner of the bar. "I have a rule here and it pertains to every one who enters, and to any drink they partake of. The first drink is always free. After that, you can pay per drink or open a tab... as for the rice wine. I'll have to think about it. Depends on a few factors." This as he slips behind the bar and goes to pull a bottle from a lower small fridge.

Xiang Zhao has posed:
Xiang Zhao turns to find Lucifer's beckoning to him. He turns to follow the man, walking beside him. "Ah. If that is the case," he says, pausing to half bow, hands coming up to clasp in front of him, fan still held in the right. That seems to be the only time that fan really stops. As soon as Zhao straightens, the fan starts waving again, and his left hand returns to the small of his back. "I have not often had rice wine even before I came here," says Zhao. "It is used mostly for ceremonial purposes. Many of the elders drink chhaang, but I do not care for the taste."

Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer pulls a bottle from that fridge and sets it on the counter with two cups that look to be traditional ceramic Chinese drinking glasses. The bottle is slender and of a baby blue shade, the label reads Snow Beauty. "If I recall, for truth's sake, this is a Japanese Rice Wine. I procured it from a deal I did with some overseas clients." Which is all he will say as he opens the bottle and pours them both a glass. "Seems legit. I know most Eastern cultures still use wines and such in ceremonies. Quite adhered to their ways from years past, which is simply amazing to me that they managed to hold onto such values."

Xiang Zhao has posed:
As that is all that's spoken on the bottle, Zhao doesn't enquire. If more is wished to be revealed, it will be. "Ah. Xiang clan is even more rooted in tradition and ceremony than most places in China," he says softly. His left hand uncurls from his back to reach for the glass, though he pauses to nod his thanks before pulling it closer to himself. "There are many Buddhist monks and Taoist practitioners there." He lifts the glass to swirl its contents about a little bit. "We still use lanterns."
