Jessica-Squared
Date of Scene: 03 January 2019
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Spider-Woman (Drew), Green Lantern (Cruz)

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
It has been a trying few weeks at the Triskelion, with Steve Rogers in and out of the medbay, and Tony Stark haunting the place like a thin ghost. Bereft, there, of his usual entourage of assistants, his whims and needs have fallen to Jessica Drew. Not that she minds. It gives her an excuse to get some fresh air, from time to time. This time, she's gone to pick up some lunch, and a couple of "somethings" in a plain, unmarked briefcase. What those somethings are, she can only guess. And so she is bustling across Central Park with the items and food in tow, bundled in a black peacock and scarf over her jeans and boots. Just trying to keep warm.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
A woman is sitting on a park bench apparently meditating. This would probably not be very noticable. Except for a few things. The woman is wearing the uniform of a Green Lantern, complete with the Lantern logo around her right eye. And there is a green ball of light in front of her that seems to pulse like a heartbeat. She appares to jus be focusing on that sphere, not really paying attention to what's around her.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jess pauses, frozen in place for a moment when she recognizes the Lantern. She stands for a moment, not wanting to interrupt, but a slow smile spreads across her face. She, too, focuses for a moment on the pulsing ball of light, as she watches the woman meditate. "They let just anyone in here, don't they?" she finally jests with a grin.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz slowly opens her eyes to see a seemingly-familiar woman standing there. "Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you. I just need to clear my head sometimes. Meditating on the Emerald Sun helps." She sighs softly. "Have we met?" she finally asks, tilting her head. "You seem familiar. I'm Green Lantern." She smiles faintly, the glowing ball of light vanishing when her focus changes to the other perosn. She scoots down the bench to offer some room.

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Checking her carried objects, Jess tilts her head and half-smiles. "You aren't disturbing me. Rather the opposite," she replies, seating herself on the bench. "Jessica Drew," she replies. "I'm with the Avengers. I've seen you around. Seen your work. Always been an admirer."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods slowly. "The Avengers - good people." She smiles. "An admirer of me in specific, or the Lanterns in general? I know I haven't done what some of the others had. But you know the annoying red-head? I punched him in the face during training. That was awesome."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica Drew smirks. "Well now I'm an even bigger fan," she chides. "A fan of the Lanterns in general, but honestly, I have admired you for being what you are. We need more positive female role models, and a Lantern is definitely that."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz smiles softly. "Yeah... I do try. But... I'm far from perfect." She then sighs softly. "I know my limits. I'm not up for the big stuff yet. Like Sinestro. OR... who knows. I'm just... doing my best. This isn't my first ring - the first was insanity incarnate."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Very few of us are ready for someone like Sinestro. That's why we all have each other, hmm?" JD smiles reassuringly. "If not for my teammates, I certainly wouldn't still be here. But...insanity incarnate?"

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz sighs softly. "Imagine a voice, in your head, trying to terrify you - to feed on your fear - to force you to do horrible things. That was what I was cursed with. I was a coward. And that ring wanted that. But... with some help... I... mastered myself... made it go away. And that's what made me what I am." She sighs softly as her costume winks out. She's in a plain gray sweater and pants. "I'm also named Jessica. Jessica Cruz. I feel.. that you can be trusted."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Jessica Drew blinks. "Oh. Another Jessica. Can't ever have too many of those around." She smiles. "I won't say a word. I know how it goes keeping secrets. It has only been since I joined the Avengers' team that I have dropped my secrecy. It's been easier than I expected."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods slowly. "Yeah... but I'm kind of a nobody when not using the ring. Well... kinda. I write some books but that's about it." She shrugs. "Maybe I'll drop the secrecy one day. Once I am confident in my skills."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Only you know if and when you're ready for that. You've been through a great deal, clearly. Don't ever underestimate that. And more importantly, don't ever let anyone else underestimate it. You're doing fine. Just keep up the good work."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz smiles faintly. "I know... for... if I wasn't worthy, Anillo wouldn't be here," she murmurs, gazing at the green ring perched on her right hand. "I just feel unworthy at times." She smiles faintly. "I am a junior member of the Justice League... our two groups really could use more cooperation."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
JD nods knowingly. "That is definitely something that Tony and I have been working toward. But you mustn't ever feel unworthy. Even in the worst of times. I know it isn't easy. But you're right. If you were unworthy, you wouldn't be here. And neither would the ring."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods. "Yeah... but... I can't help but think - if I wasn't cowering in my house all that time - the Ring of Volthoom... would have never come to me - and this wouldn't either. I'd be... just... an author. Nobody important. But I am... a Green Lantern. Funny how things work - the worst of times, the worst of circumstances, can create something magnificent."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
Smiling, Jess nods. "It's almost always the way it goes. You have to be forged, just like anyone else. The fires break you down, and allow you to be newly formed into something deadly and beautiful."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz smiles. "Yeah... that's..." She nods. "Very wise. That's what it felt like. I'm sure you had your 'forging' moment too. Most heroes tend to have such things..."

Spider-Woman (Drew) has posed:
"Not just heroes," Jess replies with a nod. "We all have them. Every one of us, as humans." A look seems to cross Jessica Drew's face as she remembers the parcels she is holding. "Speaking of forgiving, I had best get these back. I don't want to keep anyone waiting." She stands and straightens her coat. "Just don't lose the faith. That's what you've got that /makes/ you a hero." She grins. "It was very nice meeting you, Jessica."
