Profile

A mutant from Yonkers, Jacky found himself at odds with one Scott Summers in his teens, and was recruited to attend the school for mutants run by Charles Xavier. Graduating early at 17, he went to a veterinary school in Washington state, and returned to work with a family member as a veterinarian's assistant. Of course, that doesn't keep him from having Other Adventures on the side. He may need to get a 'supranym' somehow.

DIAMOND

Jacky can turn his body into organic diamond. This is a binary thing. He's either diamond or he's not.

When he's in diamond form, he is much stronger than his (well-trained strong human) norm, able to easily lift and move around 25 metric tons (27 US tons) and with effort, twice that. His zero-range TK power remains active allowing him to lift things that would otherwise break or bend. He's practically unbreakable in that form as well, requiring at least 300 tons of force to crack his flesh -- or a properly tuned vibrational attack. While in diamond form, his mind is completely shielded from telepathic intrusion of any kind, though like his durability, his mind-wall can be breached by a sufficiently powerful assault from someone who is touching him. His involuntary ESP abilities, including danger sense, are blocked, though he can still use his voluntary ESP with effort and concentration. Teleportation is unaffected by diamond form.

ESP

Jacky has Extrasensory Perception. Normally, it's under his voluntary control, when he can use it for touch- or sight-ranged perception, hearing or seeing at a distance, picking up psychometric information, picking up surface thoughts and emotions, seeing "through" solid objects (or usefully, fog) or even sensing illness or injury. He can also sense life-energy, metahuman or mutant power, magical energy, and whether a thing is alien to its environment. This all requires deliberate concentration.

However, he also has an involuntary reflex sometimes. It gives him a ten second danger sense (mostly if the danger is from someone with ill intent or is something that would injure him or someone near him - and this has included sensing the police closing in on someone). It can also give him unintentional waking ESP intrusions or break into his dreams. The intrusions in dreams are usually some sort of future-sight or a warning of something happening elsewhere that needs to be addressed. Intrusions while waking are usually due to something urgent and immediate.

TEKE

Jacky has "zero-range telekinesis" aka "touch teke" which scales with his physical strength. He has NO conscious control or awareness of it as a specific power, mistaking it for a part of his ESP. Not especially useful for large movements, it mostly permeates things and allows very fine manipulation of molecules.

SHIELD: this use of the power allows Jacky to instinctively protect someone from harm, or to reduce the effect of random projectiles, abrasions, etc. It generally kicks in only during an emergency or when his danger sense flips on. HEALING: This power allows him to speed-heal himself in human form (he thinks it's simply meditation and bio-feedback) and when using his ESP to scan an animal or another person, he can sometimes reflexively help them to heal from injury or disease, or to ease a condition that's keeping it from recovering (like moving a kidney stone or breaking up bladder stones in a cat.) He has, once, desperately fixed his phone when he dropped it and was afraid he'd broken it. (He had, but a bit of molecular-level manipulation repaired the break.) DIAMOND: When he's in diamond form, he can use it to repair cracks and breaks in his body, again thinking it's biofeedback to speed his normal healing. He doesn't HAVE normal healing in diamond form. He also uses it to lift things that he otherwise would have no ability to lift because of physics and the limitations of materials. The shielding effect can protect himself, things he's lifting, and other people, much more strongly than he can in flesh form.

TELEPATHY

Jacky has mid-range telepathic abilities. Like his ESP, he has voluntary and involuntary forms. He can voluntarily read thoughts, intentions, and emotions in line-of-sight or at a range of about 500 meters around himself, by lowering his mental barriers. His mental barriers are strong enough to keep out a Xavier-class telepath. He can attempt to "push" the thoughts, emotions, or actions of other people, usually only one or two, but if the emotional broadcast is simple, he can affect larger numbers. He's been known to use this during musical performances, as well as when scamming someone.

His power is strongest at touch range. If someone is touching his skin, they can get past his barriers more easily. The main exception to this is when he's in diamond form, which protects him from all but the strongest intrusions, and even those have to be done by touch.

TELEPORTATION

Jacky can teleport himself, others he's touching, or things he's touching short distances of a few hundred meters relatively easily, or up to ten kilometers to places he's currently aware of by ESP. The teleportation is somewhat tiring and he has to rest for a minute or so. He can teleport himself and others much longer distances if he's well acquainted with the area he's going to, but if it's much outside the usual range, it will drain him to exhaustion for several hours.

Skills

BRAWL

Jacky is moderately trained as a fighter, but nothing exceptional. In his human form he is able to hold his own in hand-to-hand fighting with one or two ordinary people, but a well-trained fighter can put him out of commission quickly. In his diamond form, however, he has the strength and durability to be a "Thing" level brawler, except that the Thing is a much better trained fighter if they went up against each other. Really, Jacky needs to train better.

LIFT

Do You Even Lift - the words that sunk deep into his soul during his first year at College. He was a pretty lithe fellow at the time, but only 135 pounds (61kg) and his roomie was a football player. He ended up learning about exercise and how and why to do it, which is why he now has a borderline superhero physique even without the benefit of prolonged Danger Room torture.

MUSIC

Jacky's hobby for years has been music. He can sing well, has a pleasant voice, and can play stringed instruments of the guitar variety. His skill is enough that if he wanted to join a band he could, and he could busk for money (especially using his powers) but he's not quite good enough to be in a "real" band.

VETERINARIAN

Jacky has a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree, which basically means he's done the equivalent of a Physician's Assistant certification for human medicine. He can diagnose illness and injury (especially with his powers) and can generally treat, or know what needs to be done to treat, the animal. He is not certified to work on humans.

Resources

JOB

Jacky has a job as a Veterinarian's Assistant, working for his father's brother at a vet clinic in Yonkers four days a week. This provides him with sufficient income to do much of what he needs to do but not enough to buy a house or anything. As a result, he lives in a "mother-in-law" apartment behind his uncle's house, which is slightly too large to be considered a "tiny house" and slightly too small to be considered comfortable. (It's part of the job perks. If he leaves the job he has to give up the house.)

LOOT

Jacky has personal savings of about two years' income, from busking, saving his work income, and occasionally doing "jobs" for random people he runs into when his ESP tells him to go to a particular place and talk to a particular person who needs something.

He also owns a nice acoustic six-string guitar, a nicer twelve-string guitar, an average mandolin, and a banjo that needs repair. He has a portable amp and some acoustic-mikes for the instruments as well. He has one very good suit and a bunch of average-quality clothing and a "special" bodysuit made of a highly durable adaptive material that was part of his graduation present. It's black and is not spandex even if it acts like spandex.

MURDERCYCLE

Jacky has a fast motorcycle and appropriate body armor for driving it. Room for one passenger holding quite tight.

Weaknesses

FATHER

Jacky's father is in prison. He was released while Jacky was away at school, but ended up working with a car theft ring when he got out because he wasn't able to get honest work, due to an alcohol problem that hit him as soon as he was out of jail. Jacky loses his temper with his father rather easily, which isn't really fair - the Evil Woman actually deliberately addicted him to drugs and alcohol - but who says emotions are fair?

SONICS

In his diamond form, certain frequencies of intense sonic attacks can cause Jacky to "ring" in sympathy which will render him immobile, and if sustained, will force him to resume human form and be stunned or even unconscious. In his human form, Jacky is susceptible to most of the things that can hurt people.

SUSCEPTIBLE

Jacky is insecure, and has no reflexive super-strong moral core, tending to the "might makes right" reflex if he isn't thinking things through carefully. This means he can be tempted, or fall into bad things if he's with bad company.
