It's not a spark-plug.. it's a carborator
Date of Scene: 12 November 2019
Location: Garage - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Elementary engineering, Christmas Planning and a dog named Bear.
Cast of Characters: Spider-Man, Shadowcat, Triage, Wolverine, Jubilee, Samuel Morgan, Cannonball

Spider-Man has posed:
Pete is glad for central heating in the garage since the work on Tommy's scooter was busy enough to already have him sweating a little. "Alright, remember how it started throwing off smoke like a freight train? That's because a combustion engine requires a clean fuel transfer between the tank and the carborato-" His hand reaches out to smack Tommy's. Tommy: A small green kid who is more or less Peter's protege at the school. Where the teacher is, the kid is almost certainly a few steps behind. "That is not the carborator, Tommy, that's a spark-plug.. could you do me a favor and not cut electricute yourself disconnecting it while the engines running? That'd be just spectacular."

... "Where was I? I've completely lost my train of thought.. This is why we lost the race, you realize that? Team work does not come naturally to you." It's all playful fun between the squating, sweaty, greasy covered Chemistry teacher and the similarly dressed mutant teenager who, trying to copy Pete's dope style, is even wearing a similar backwards METS cap.

Shadowcat has posed:
The hum of a garage door opener starts up, one of the doors opening to let in a bit of cold and the sound of a well-humming motor. Kitty Pryde rolls inside on Daisy, the 1965 Vespa scooter that she restored. Daisy is painted an aged cream color and adorned with images of flowers. Kitty, meanwhile, has on a skullcap and goggles, plus racing gloves and a coat against the cold air outside.

She rolls inside, hitting the button on the remote to close the door as soon as she is free of the sensor that would keep the door from trying to close. She rolls to a stop in the spot Daisy is kept, in a line with many other motorbikes of various sorts that the students rebuilt as part of summer projects this year.

Kitty removes her skullcap and goggles. "You working towards a rematch, Parker?" she asks as she sees Peter and Tommy working on the bike. Kitty pats Daisy. "We're ready any time. Or helping Tommy with his bike?"

Triage has posed:
The door from the foyer opens and Chris strolls into the garage, unaware that others have arrived. He carries a three-pound sack of apples along with his usual gear - the medic's bag swinging from his left shoulder and his quarterstaff cradled casually in the crock of his left arm. The sounds of the sputtering bikes catch his attention and he waves. When he sees the Mets cap, he pauses. "Mr. Parker?" he calls. "I got a rather unusual request that could use your help when you have time."

Wolverine has posed:
    "Heh. Nerd."

The voice is a low, hoarse thing, like gravel crunching under a heavy weight. The owner, of course, is instantly recognizable as Logan, the resident Special Ed teacher, and motorcycle aficionado. Has he been in here the entire time? It's hard to say. He has a way of just seeming to be there one moment where before, he had been unnoticed.

The look on Logan's face, however, is relatively jovial,f or as severe as the man's features look. Even his smiles look like scowls more often than not. It's just the twinkle in his steely gaze that gives his teasing away. And his casual demeanor, squatting on a toolbox near a vintage World War II era Indian Chief bike of his own. Despite the cold, Logan's only wearing an unbuttoned flannel with a tank top underneath, and a pair of jeans that are threadbare, with holes worn in the knees. All of it is oil and grease stained.

Turning his gaze on to Kitty, Logan lifts a dark brown bottle and tips the neck in her direction by way of greeting, before taking another sip of its contents. He opens his mouth to speak when Chris wanders in with his sack of apples. One thick, dark brow rises, but otherwise, Logan remains content to remain silent. Probably more nerd stuff.

Jubilee has posed:
Having been out rollerblading on some new top of the line skates that she picked up, Jubilee is currently enjoying a neck break speed along the driveways from the street. It's going to snow soon so she may as well break these in while she can until she has to figure out a way to sneak them into the DR. Dressed in a warm sweater and some snug jeans, the young Asian woman slides to a stop.

"Yo! Kitty! I thought we had a no Mets merch rule here at the school. Yankees only!" She ribs on Peter with a bright grin. She probably can't tell a Met from a Yankee apart, but she does like to meme on someone.

"Hey, pops." She says to Logan as he makes his appearance, lifting a hand upwards as she leans down to untie and unbuckle her skates so that she can put her sneakers back on that she left by the garage door earlier in the morning. "Chris, whaddup."

Spider-Man has posed:
"Watch your mouth." Pete points a warning finger at Jubilee because that is /easily/ the most important thing that's been said in the last ten minutes. "Thou shalt not take my beloved METS name in vain... besides-" He reaches up to turn the backwards cap around forward, smoothing his messy curls backwards off his brow, "And don't you /dare/ bring up the Yankees infront of the kids..." Expressively covering Tommy's ears who instant reaches up to try and move Peter's hands because clearly this is important if he's being ear muffed, "What do you want, to raise a bunch of d-bag Yankee fans? Next you'll tell me you support the Pats... Jubes, if you support the Pats..." Hands up, hands out, sad eyes. "We can't even be friends."

Okay, that's done.

Strong work Peter.

Now, who else said stuff?

Oh right, your girlfriend.

"Heeeey Kitty..." Pete makes a big show of moving Tommy to block the beat up old Scooter, but it is way too late for all that. "Nah, just helping Tommy boy with his bike finally. Also teaching him combustion engines for extra credit because he stayed up watching the Game of Thrones prequel prequel instead of studying for his exam on fusion, which we expressly agreed he wouldn't do..."

"DIDN'T we?" Tommy frowns sheepishly and nods, Pete glances up at Triage, "He-" 'Nerd', "I'm sorry, did Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds just walk in?" obligatory pop culture reference handled. "Logan. I didn't realize it was family day at the old folks home? They let you out without supervision?" Sucking his teeth quietly, "No respect for our elders."

BACK to Triage. "You said something and I feel like it was probably important... Come at me again, my attention is here.." Double hand chop in his direction, tunnel vision, stop distracting.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde tells Jubilee of the Mets attire, "It's kind of a pity thing. Though I'm going to get him into a Cubs hat at some point." Kitty flashes a grin over to Peter as she hangs up her skullcap on a peg above Daisy's spot in the row of bikes.

"Logan," Kitty says as she walks over to join the others. "Haven't seen you about in a while. What have you been up to?" she asks him. Kitty removes the gloves and unzips her jacket now she's in the warmth of the heated garage. Beneath she has on a sweatshirt with the Statue of Liberty on it, though a bit faded to show she's worn it a lot before this. A pair of jeans and boots complete her attire.

Kitty glances at Triage's bag of apples. "So do those work on mutant healers the way they do on doctors? Or I'm guessing not as I'd imagine an entire bag would keep you really far away," she teases.

Triage has posed:
Chris laughs and waggles the bag. "They're for the horses," he answers. "But I never turn down a good Granny Smith." He grins. He turns to note Logan and inclines his head. "Mr. Logan, we got an initial run at that areal survey yesterday. Let us know when you're ready to give it a look. I'd prefer to hike those trouble spots before the snow, but we'll work with what we get for weather." Then he looks to Jubilee and wonders, "SHouldn't we be more tolerant about baseball allegiances?" His friendly smile has not dropped yet.

Wolverine has posed:
Jubilee's arrival has the old war dog perking up, his spine straightening as he lifts his gaze to the young Asian woman. Here, his lips do actually manage to crack a true smile, and he gives Jubes an upnod. "Kiddo. How's things?"

Rising from his seat, the towering behemoth of muscle that is The Wolverine casts a side eye at Peter when he comments on old folks homes. It's a momentary thing, that look. That dead eyed stare that is as cold as the arctic climes that Logan calls home. The stare of a killer. But in an instant, it's gone, and replaced with a lopsided grin that shows just a hint of the pearl white teeth underneath. He tips his beer in Pete's direction, and says, "Ogre's right. Good man. I don't think the rest of these kids woulda caught it."

His stride carries him over to Jubes, where he rests his free hand on her shoulder, giving a good, firm squeeze, before looking fondly on Kitty, and shrugging his own barn-wide shoulders. "Lil' bit of this. Lil' bit of that. Mostly killin' ninjas. Had a bit of a run in with an ex of mine. Got ugly. Took a lil vacation in Madripoor. You know... The usual. How 'bout you? Seems like you've been doin' pretty good, from what I see."

    A glance in Peter's direction.

"Aside from snaggin' a Mets fan, at least."

Turning his attention back to Chris, Logan's face softens, and he gives the young man a nod of his head. "Hikin' in the snow might actually be a bit better. Get used to the idea of terrain not workin' for you, but against you. Let's try to get the crew together tomorrow, though. See if we can't knock it out. I'm anxious to see what you all found. But never... ever... tolerate a Mets fan."

Jubilee has posed:
As she steps into Logan's embrace, Jubilee tucks herself in against him, curling her arms about his waist, followed by a peck to his cheek. "Not bad! Got a boyfriend you can pick on now. If you wanna give Dougie the business, have at it. I'm sure you got a shotgun or something you've been eager to pull out."

Completely amused at Peter, the firecracker tosses him and Kitty a wink. She dangled the low hanging fruit and he went for it. That has her in her stitches. "Hell no, Petey. I'd never cheer for the Pats. Jets all the way! Am I right guys? They are really good at that foot and ball stuff, right?" A jock she is not. She's lucky enough to even get some of the names right.

She holds her hands out to Chris, hoping he will lob her an apple. "I guess we should be. Mets aren't /that/ bad. It's not like they're the Phillies or anything. I'd cheer for the Mets before I cheer for a Philly team."

As she leans against Logan, she peeks up at the bushy browed man. "You went on vacation to fight ninjas and didn't take me this time?" Pout.

Spider-Man has posed:
"Or the freakin' Texans." Pete chimes in ontop of Jubes dissing the phillies, for the sake of the meta.

With Kitty distracted, Pete goes in for the hugging kill, wrapping his arms around her waist for a tight squeeze before releasing her. Eyeing Logan with a smirk, "As if I'd miss a chance to nerd flex... psssssh it's like it's the first time you've ever met me." TWO obligatory metas.

Tommy looks a little antsy around so many adults and sticks to Pete's hip like a six gun, but he smiles up at Kitty with school boy crush qualities inherent in his big green frog eyes. A fact that Pete expertly ignores as he hops up on the edge of a work bench after not one, not two, but three attempts. Totally no athletic ability, this guy. Like a rubber duck trying to play basketball.

"I agree that the METS aren't for everyone, okay? I also agree, in the grand scheme of things, being superior with regards to sports teams is almost an art-form which I've perfected in my twenty six years." Hands out, helpless shrug, "It's hard work being this excellent."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde slips her arm back around Peter, giving him a quick side hug back, and doing her best to hide how much she'd like to smile. She tries to keep the PDA down around the kids, but they still affect her just the same. "Tommy, the bike is looking great, seems like it's really coming along. Though, yeah, Game of Thrones prequel #7 could have waited until after class," she says with a soft smile to the student.

Kitty looks back to the conversation between Logan and Triage which involves talk of moving through snowy terrain. "Triage, there's an eco-training program you should give a run sometime, on that subject. Eco Training folder, Pryde subfolder but it's marked public, program name Logan In Japan," Kitty tells the healer.

She doesn't tell him she originally titled it "Logan Is A Jerk" as a joke for when Logan saw it, but then changed the name because it was tipping off too many people as to what happens in it.

"Well, glad you're back, Logan," Kitty tells him with a nod. Her expression slips just a bit at the mention of ninjas, turning a little more serious given the history there and where it takes her thoughts. "So Jubi, we started going through the Christmas decorations yesterday if you want to help out with that. Think the art classes are going to take the lead again this year."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
It's busier in the garage than he's ever known it, so Bean gives a bit of a glance about as he enters. Dressed in the usual black coveralls with obligatory goggles perched on his forehead and sturdy combat boots, carrying a bag in one hand and a tool box in the other. "Is there a class I'm missing, or is this the weekly motorcycle club meeting?". Unlike Tommy, he's not terribly intimidated by the number of adults in the room, not at his mighty sixteen years of age... and because, let's face it, he knows everyone here fairly well.

The confidence might also be explained by his companion. After spending quite some time in New York for the sake of tests and training, the young mutant was finally allowed to bring home his new friend, his companion, his buddy and his emotional support earlier this morning. By his side, looking alert and inquisitive, traipses a young German Shepherd, wearing a high visibility vest. A standard collar with the tag 'Bear' and the almost obligatory red neckerchief complete the look. As Bean stops, so does Bear, coming to sit between him and the crowd to mark out his personal space.

Triage has posed:
Chris nods to Kitty's bike. "How's the nimble lady doing?" he asks while opening the bag. He tosses an apple to Jubilee and invites, "Anyone else?" He looks around the room, even to the diminutive Tommy. "I can get more." He nods again to Logan. "We do need to know how much of a barrier the snow will be. It could work for or against us, depending on what happens." He shifts to Kitty to elaborate. "After the business in the garden, Bean, Shannon, and I started wondering about ways to prepare of another attack. We thought that a good survey of the terrain would help, so that we know about obstacles to movement." Then he nods. "I got a wearable camera to collect some data. It might be good enough to build a sim that we can use for training. Add reports from our follow-up hike, and we should have some better ideas for defending the grounds."

Jubilee has posed:
"We just need to fill the lake and the swimming pool with laser mounted dolphins." Jubilee catches the apple and takes a large bite out of it. Crunch. Yum. "That'll show the bad guys. Dolphins are real jerks once in awhile."

To Kitty, she bobs her head excitedly. "I'm in! Let me know what you guys need and I'm always down for a mall crawl. It's been awhile since I've had a chance to get kicked out of one." This woman is in her 20's. She shouldn't be allowed anymore sugar today.

"Yo, Beans! I hear it was your birthday yesterday. I got you something in my office. It's jellybeans. Bellyflops to be exact. You get way more and they're cheaper." She gives him a pair of thumbsup. "Also, Beans, tell Pete that the Yankees are better than the Mets and I'll hook you up with my secret stash of pixie stix."

Spider-Man has posed:
Pete dangles his feet and kicks them like a little kid while leaning on his forearms against his thighs. He blissfully pretends not to hear all this talk of fighting and war room stuff because he's just a teacher. Also he's distracted, totally distracted and not paying raptor like attention at all, nope. "So you think you can install the new carborator or do you want to watch me do it?" See? Totally talking to Tommy.

Though he does wave to Sam when he arrives, the same hand held up and out towards Chris when he starts offering up apples. Tommy stalls answering the question to get an apple for himself, making horse neying sounds the whole time.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty raises a hand when Triage offers apples. "Three please. Peter and Tommy could some too," she says, and if Triage tosses them, she'll not so much catch them as relay them towards Peter and Tommy in juggler-fashion before keeping the last one for herself.

"Hey Sam," Kitty says when the youth arrives, with canine companion. "So you got him then? Really glad to see it. And yes, happy birthday! Sorry I wasn't around to wish it to you directly," Kitty says. "Did you get a cake? If not, we need to set that aright. And I have something for you as well," she says. "I'll bring it by later."

Kitty looks back to Peter, explaining, "There was an incident out along one of the fences. It was taken care of though," she says. Of course there will be a more detailed explanation of the attack centered around spreading X-23's trigger scent for Peter later.

She looks back to Triage and says, "Great idea. If you need help working up the data, let me know. I'm sure Doug would love to work with it too," she offers.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"And provide an ambulance service in case someone gets hurt away from the beaten path." Bean complements Triage's mission statement. As he starts to walk to the berth that holds his bike, Bear stands and traipses along, turning into the berth before the mutant does, having already detected his scent lingering about there. Sam sure seems happier than he has in some time.

"Thanks for the birthday wishes guys. I've had cake, mac and cheese and all sorts of goodies. Enough to add a few miles to my morning run for the rest of the week." The mention of gifts from both Jubilee and Kitty earns them a grateful nod, and a smile that is utterly genuine, before he puts down his tool box and carrier bag. From said bag a pair of doggles is produced, which he carefully puts onto Bear, kneeling down. Safety first, after all. "Don't know the difference between the Mets or the Yankees. Which one's local?"

Triage has posed:
Chris grins and happily tosses apples to all, watching when Kitty intercepts those aimed toward her and delivers two to Pete and Tommy. "More eyes and minds are better for something like this," he answers. "We have a school to protect, even though we rarely get trouble. Bean, Shannon and I are glad to do our part. It's our home too." He looks to Tommy and grins. "Horses are wonderful animals, but that saying 'eats like a horse' isn't far from the mark." Then he calls. "Bean? Apple" Holding aloft another large, shiny sphere of nature's goodness, ready to toss.

Wolverine has posed:
Logan's massive tree trunk of an arm around Jubes' shoulder tightens as he considers giving Doug a fun little talking to. His eyes go distant for awhile, as a slow creeping, malicious smile starts to form on his lips. After what seems like an eternity, he snaps out of his daydream, and shakes his head.

    "Oh. Beans. Happy birthday, bub."

Logan gives a tilt of his head over to the work counter, where there is a beat up, oil stained cardboard box. "I got you somethin'. Remember when we were talkin' about the problems you might have with that refitted gearbox? Got ya the original, though we might have to put in some work on it. It's a refurb. Nice pupper ya got there."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie comes riding up the drive on his motorcycle. There are a few bags in the side car. He will pull into a spot next to his station wagon and turns the bike off. As he stands and pulls off his helmet he looks over to the group, and raises a brow, not used to finding folks hanging out in the garage.

Jubilee has posed:
"They're both local. New York Mets and the New York Yankees. They just have a fun rivalry. In the end it doesn't matter who wins, because when they do, all of New York wins." Jubilee grins as she is wrapped up in the arm of Logan, peeking up at him, amused. She takes another bite of her apple, crunching on it.

"We gonna get a huge tree for the front yard and decorate it?" She asks Kitty curiously after swallowing her bite. "I wanna pick out the tinsel this year. I found some that glows in the dark and can turn different colors depending on how much light it gets in the day. It's rad."

Spider-Man has posed:
pete juggles the apple juggled towards him, bouncing it from palm to palm like he just can't get a handle on it. Tommy rolls his eyes at the teacher, but beams a smile at, first Kitty, then Chris as he crunches into his own fruit. "Alright, well... let me know if you need me to whip up some long winded quadratic equations for attackers to solve.." Finally catching the apple, in both hands, by craddling it to hise chest.

"I think I'm going to head up stairs and do some and do some grading, though." Sliding down off the work bench, hat turned backward on his head, and adjusted so his hair fits beneath. "Kits. Text me when you're on your way home, I'll ride with." Because he lacks a car, which is amusing because he's on time (ish) everyday. "Jubes, Logan, Chris... Puppers.." Double point for puppers, "Tommy, Sam, I see you back there you ol' scoundrel." Finally Bean, "Buddy, no idea it was your birthday, but in my defense, I suck at remembering things like days of the week and numbers on a calender... but Happy Birthday. Hope you enjoyed it, hope you don't feel old, and... seeya." Turning to head towards the entrance into the mansion from the garage.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty smiles at Peter and says of the quadratic equations, "I'm sure they'd rather face Logan than some of those." She nods to the man and reaches over to give his hand a discrete squeeze. "I'll come grab you when I'm going," she agrees of the ride back to the city.

Kitty tells Jubilee, "I'm not quite sure what the plan is going to end up being. There were a few things tossed about... big tree inside or outside. Rogue's going to do sleigh rides again, I think. And we were talking about maybe making the mansion into... do you remember that Santa's Village huge town thing with the railroad around it? Well, we were talking about maybe doing that with the whole school. Having a small train running around the school, maybe going up past some of the second floor windows, even. Good engineering project for the students to set that up."

Kitty waves a greeting to Samuel Guthrie as she takes a bite of the apple Triage gave her. She asks Samuel Bean, "So, this is actually the first service dog I've been around. Any rules of thumb for interacting with him that students and staff should know?"

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Free food! Bean holds up a hand for the apple, catches it and gives it a good bite. Nom. It's Logan's birthday wish, and gift, that get him to smile again. "Thanks. Didn't even know it was my sixteenth until Andrea surprised me yesterday. As some people have mentioned..." and he grins towards Cannonball when he says that "... I'm now old enough to learn how to drive. Thanks for the book man, it's awesome. Where'd you even find a copy of Metropolis?"

After making sure that Bear has proper eye protection, it's time for ear protection, although he hands the small dog-shaped ear defenders around the Shepherd's neck for now. For his part, Bear seems to tolerate this with impressive equanimity, seemingly intent on indulging his human's foibles for now. "Bear's my buddy..." Bean mentions as he runs his free hand through the canine's fur. "... he's going to make sure I stop causing so many incidents."

A nod to Kitty, and then he repeats the rules that he was given by the organisation. "First off, he's not a pet, so when you see him wearing his vest, that means he's working. Either ignore him or ... try not to distract him. So no petting, no treats, no matter how handsome he looks. Normally he's only supposed to work while I'm outside, but we've agreed that he's also going to be on duty during school hours, basically any time that might be stressful for me. After that, when he's not wearing his vest, feel free to come say hello, he's a good boy. Aren't you a good boy? Yes you are..." Of course it devolves in the obligatory petting and hug. How could it not? "No treats though. He's constantly learning, and a treat is a reward for a job well done, or to help him learn something new."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over and says "Doug and Ah are both sci-fi fans, with his and Kurt's help was not to hard actually. Wish it could have been an earlier edition but those things start kicking up in price." He will move to put his bags into the back of the station wagon before walking over to them. He looks to the dog, and says "Ok, gonna be a bit of a party pooper, but going to ask, figured out what your gonna do for danger room sessions? Don't think it would be good for him, to be to close while your going through a session and if ya want to train him maybe but Ah aint comfortable with him being in one with ya.

Triage has posed:
Chris tosses another apple from the bag to Bean and eyes Bear. "Respect the vest," he summarizes. Then he looks to Samuel. "I'd say train him in the DR, too. Bear needs to know how to help Bean in stressful situations, and the DR helps us to prepare for stressful situations. So ..." Looking to Kitty, Jubilee, and finally Logan before he adds, "You might need to createsome scenarios that acclimate Bear to the kinds of things that we face so that /he/ doesn't worry."

Wolverine has posed:
When Guthrie makes his appearance, Logan acknowledges him with an upnod and a flash of a smile, with a simple, "Bub." At least it's better than the "Nerd." that Peter got, right?

Finally untangling his arm from around Jubilee, Logan takes a few steps away and says, "It's gettin' a might crowded in here, though. Need t'get some fresh air. Chris, Bean... Let's get together tomorrow afternoon about that survey. You can bring Bear along for it, of course, Bean. And Chris is right. The doggo is likely going to wind up being sucked up into the chaos that we deal with at some point or another. Best to train him to be a companion.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde leans against one of the counters as she listens to Samuel Bean explain how to behave around the service dog. "Makes sense, though I imagine a lot of people will want to give him treats, shower him with love, yeah," she says. "Might be a good idea if we sent around an email to everyone so they know how to behave," Kitty says.

She nods along with Triage. "I think it's Bean's call, but if he's up for it, acclimating Bear might not be a bad idea. Hopefully he wouldn't be in a situation. But far better to be prepared for it." She looks over to Samuel Bean to see what he thinks. "If you do want to, I'd be happy to work up some scenarios for him," she offers.

Jubilee has posed:
"See you later Petey!" Jubilee calls out to the science teacher as he heads off, then looks back to Kitty. "That sounds awesome! Train rides around the entire mansion would be insanely fun. The kids will love it."

Her eyes tilt down towards Bear and wiggles her fingers at him in a 'hello' manner. "Cool, thanks for the information. I'll make sure my kids know about it. I'm definitely not picking up dog poop out of the DR though guys." She says with a grin, glancing over to Sammy G.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
It's something Bean hadn't considered, and it's clear by the way his expression suddenly changes. He bites his lower lip, an action that gets an inquisitive 'Whurf?' from Bear, sensing that his human is suddenly worried about something. A shifting of weight, and Bear is soon leaning companionably against Bean, who puts an arm around him reflexively. The feel of his fingers through that fur help the initial worry pass, and that means he can approach the problem a bit more rationally. "I think he'd be great for the social simulations. I mean... that's why he's with me in the first place." So, no more cutlery stabbed through holographic hands. But the other kind of training?

"I'd like to keep him away from actual combat training. He's not supposed to be a military dog..." although the organisation had certainly been very understanding when it came to selecting a companion for Bean, after hearing the redacted version of his life story. The Shep was probably the best combination of assistant and protector "... he's trained to be there when I come back. But you're right, he's probably going to get caught up in something eventually... so... can I get back to you on that?"

He reaches for another topic. "A miniature train around the school? I'd love to help build that."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods his head to Logan in greeting in reply to the bub and then to Sam "I am totally ok with, if you want him in any combat ones, ah want Kitty and Doug to create a few with him in mind, and willprobably ask Rahne or Andrea to run through them a few times, to make sure they are Doggy safe, actually may have ya add some to his social as well Kitty if ya don't mind, so the people he reacts with seem to be there for the doggo."

Triage has posed:
Chris nods to Logan before the man heads outside for that fresh air. "We'll be there!" He calls. "I'll bring Shannon too. She got the video and should be able to answer questions about what she saw." Then he looks to Kitty and Jubilee. "We also enabled location data on it so that we should be able to correlate that with the video itself for better sims and a better understanding of what we'll see on the ground out their." He waves toward the door. Returning to Bean, he asks, "What about emergencies? Do you have a protocol for Bear handling those, and knowing how to get help?" He wants to be sure that the dog is ready for anything.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty thinks only a brief moment before telling Samuel Guthrie, "There's a good chance the social simulations will already react at least semi-appropriately to Bear being there. Though we could probably brush up some of the subroutines handling reactions to animals to maybe include some variations. Understanding service dogs, and not."

Kitty looks over to Samuel and says, "I'll send something around then," she tells him, knowing the student has enough to do with his classes and getting Bear used to the school.

Kitty turns to the conversation topic that Samuel Bean did next. "Yes, that was one of the options we discussed. If you like that idea, definitely let Piotr Rasputin know it's got some popular support. We might need to build or buy a train engine. Something big enough to maybe haul a few students, but not too big that supporting it in the air would be difficult, or dangerous," she says.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Count me in, no matter the weather." Bean confirms as Logan heads out, giving Bear an affectionate scratch between the ears. The Shepherd seems to take that as a signal that all is well, and goes to sit obediently by the entrance to the berth, like a loyal furry sentinel, tail thumping the ground. He's a good boy and he knows it.

"Emergencies is something we have to train him in. I mean, if you're talking about me going full on red mist, he'll probably pull me down to the ground and keep me there." Because he's not a pet, he's a working dog. And that means knowing when and how to intervene when his human is in crisis. "Medical emergencies, he'll run off and find someone. Someone trying to snatch me? He's not trained for that."

Luckily he can move on to the other topic, which gets his engineering mind thinking. "We've got spare motorcycle parts, bits of old engine we can cobble together into something suitable. Some sheet metal to form a shell. Cut a few old rims in half to act as train wheels..." Hmmmm.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods and says "Just wanting to make sure they pick up body language, scent and such that he might pick up." He does look to the others "So what all has been going on around here today?"

Triage has posed:
"I was thinking medical," Chris answers. That's his primary wheelhouse, after all. The talk about the train, however, brings a grin to his face. "That will be fun for the kids both as engineering project and entertainment." Suddenly, his phone beeps at him. He checks it and shakes his head. "Duty calls. Please excuse me." And he's off at a trot.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty shakes her head to Samuel Guthrie. "Not too much," she tells him. "I took Daisy out for a ride," she says, motioning to the 1965 Vespa scooter she restored. "We pulled the Christmas decorations out of storage and started going over them last night. There's some idea floating around about them. Also there was talk of gauging interest in Christmas pageant. And I'd like to caroling too. Hit town, plus some of our neighbors. I always think the kids should get to know the neighbors. Good to keep up interactions outside of the school, and keep us on a friendly footing with them," Kitty says.

"And hey, that's where all of our motorcycle restoration projects came from. I bought them off one of the neighboring farms," Kitty says.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"It's going to be a busy season then. Andrea had the idea of taking the students to a fancy dinner and invite five random mutant kids through Starlight, now that's turned into a full community event for Mutant Town, so..." Bean won't mention just how that change happened. "Shannon has plans to have a big X-mas event here at the school before everyone shoots off home, and then a smaller party for the ones that are staying over afterwards. I think it's Mister Rasputin that wants to decorate the mansion with his art class, right? We had some ideas about doing ice sculptures in the back yard once it starts snowing as well." So many activities... it's going to be an exhausting holiday.

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Well with a big family, they can be a bit hectic, but you can make it through. Jay and Ah will probably be heading a bit earlier than normal, need to check to see if there is any plane tickets left still. I will probably set something up at the club, maybe the week or so before Christmas... wonder if Bushwick has a parade

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty tells Samuel Bean, "Of course, we have a resident Iceman who could always create the ice. Long as it's not so warm it'll melt too fast. He's great come winter. I mean, not that Bobby isn't great the rest of the time too," she says with a small grin.

"Yes, definitely busy around here come the holidays. Some kids will be going home to be with their families. Staff too. But a lot stay here during the break. And with no classes? This can be one of the most fun times to be a student," Kitty tells Samuel Bean, her smile suggesting she's remembering a few such breaks herself.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"As I said yesterday, some students are lucky enough not to have to travel to be home." Bean mentions with another scritch between Bear's ears. Whatever his opinions are on family, he doesn't seem to be too bothered about the holidays. "There's plenty to do to keep us busy." A whole Mansion and facilities without classes? Now that's a holiday.

To Sam, he gives a bit of a grin. "If there's no tickets left... y'know, you'd be surprised how often airlines don't remember they have seats until the computer tells them so."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie looks over to Sam and chuckles a bit and says "Oh, I was thinking about something the other day and if you can do it I believe you may just happen to be the MVP of Christmas... Can you tell what light is burnt out on a string thats plugged in without changing all the lights?

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty gives a soft laugh as Cannonball asks the question about the strings of lights. "You know, we finally replaced all of the strands the school owns with those that don't have to worry about that anymore. Though the students having to hunt for burnt out bulbs was practically a tradition here. Though someone like Kaydin makes it go pretty quick if he doesn't mind."

Kitty looks over at Bear, the urge to go do normal dog-lover stuff with him is near overpowering, but she holds herself back while the dog is working. "I may have to see if Mom wants to come in town. Maybe do some baking with Peter and I," she says. "Lord knows neither of us should be near an oven."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"You mean find out which bulb is burned out in a serial link?" Bean cocks an eyebrow at that, smiling. "Oh yeah, that's simple. So if you have any of those left, I'll be happy to look them over." It's one of those uses of his abilities that he'd never thought about. "If there's any way I can help, just let me know, okay? I've caught up with all the online course work, bike's all done as soon as the new transmission is on, so... plenty of time for new projects."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie chuckles a bit and says "Ah wager by the week or so before Christmas Shannon will trying to get us to put in more stoves for baking." He jokes a bit on that and ads "Ah did ask ma, to ship up a couple pecan pies."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty grins at the news about Mother Guthrie's pies. "Though will be a great big hit. And now she has two sons here to help keep fed," she muses to him warmly. Kitty goes over and checks Daisy's gas tank, and then wheels her over to the pump to top off her tank.

"I really enjoy this time of year," she says while she pumps the gas. "Just seeing everyone in their best spirits and looking out for each other more than they normally do," she adds. "Sam," Kitty asks of Samuel Bean, "Have you celebrated Christmas very much before?" she asks, looking over to the youth.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"I'm hearing a lot about this mythical Ma Guthrie." Bean grins over towards Cannonball. "Looking forward to meeting her some day. And her pies." Considering pilfering care packages has turned into some kind of tradition, the food must be pretty amazing.

Kitty's question gets a bit of a hesitation, and Bean finds some urgent need to make sure all his socket wrenches are in exactly the right spot while he thinks about an answer. "It was... not the biggest thing when I was younger." By which he always seems to mean in Virginia, before the full on HYDRA induction. "And afterwards it was mostly a time to ... let's just say that a lot of people take security a bit less serious over the holidays. It was sort of our busy period. But we always watched some kind of movie. And it wasn't Christmas until Hans Gruber fell off Nakatomi Plaza."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie smirks a bit and says "Well least he knows a real christmas movie." He jokes a bit with them and says "You should get a chance to meet her within the next month or so, but Ah will need to make sure the little ones know your pup is a working dog. and different type of worker than back home.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty gives Bean a reassuring look, and also glances to Bear to see if the dog picked up on his unease. "It is a great movie, so no worries if you want to continue that particular tradition. No one would think anything of it. But, there's a lot of other fun things we can do. I mean some of it might be kind of dorky. But it's a season you can be a little dorky." Kitty offers a grin at the last part.

Kitty nods to what Samuel Guthrie said. "I'll send that email around," she says, about informing people how to behave around Bear. "So Sam," Kitty says to Cannonball. "Is there any story to be told about the girl you took to the Halloween party?"

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Bear seemed to have moved without going through the intermittent stages of getting up and ambulating to another spot. One moment he was sitting by the entrance to the berth, the next he was sitting by the work bench and leaning his head into Bean's leg. It's a reassuring presence that gets a smile from the mutant, who is half convinced the Shepherd can read his mind. "I know the traditions, I looked them up. And I've had the chance to join in on the celebrations a few times while on mission. It's going to be fun. And there's going to be enough work to do making sure the younger kids don't miss home too much."

"It'll be good to see your family, Sam. If they're like you, that's gonna be a blast."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie wonders if it might be a pup mutant, or a shape shifter sneaking into the school, na, those never happen. "Alexis? She is going to be putting in a visit to the school soon, Charles even Oked her spending a couple days. Plans on bunking with Shannon, since she is teaching her how to play the guitar, think Shannon is hoping to get dirt to embarrass me with at some point. And yea turns out she is a mutant as well, but I don't think she has worked out much knowledge of her abilities as mostly passive.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty smiles over to Bean and says, "That's great. They'll appreciate someone looking out for them," she says. "You seem to be really fitting in well, Bean. I hope you're enjoying being here as much as we are having you."

Kitty wheels Daisy back, all fueled up and ready for her next trip. "Think I'll go check on Peter and see about heading towards home, guys. Take care of yourself," she says to them warmly, waving before heading inside.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Thanks. I'm liking it here." Bean admits, waving back to Kitty as she heads out. It's the people that make all the difference...

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods, and says "Ah am glad your feeling more comfortable here. you really have made a lot of progress and am proud of how far you have came in a short time.
