Where Is A Chemistry Prof When You Need One
Date of Scene: 12 November 2019
Location: Chemistry Labs, Xavier's School
Synopsis: Triage takes Vi to Peter Parker, friendly neighborhood chemistry professor, to help her get more metals to fuel her powers
Cast of Characters: Triage, Vi, Spider-Man

Triage has posed:
With classes done for the day and other students at dinner, Chris found Vi and walked with her to the chemistry lab. "I'm sure that Mr. Parker can help you with measuring those chemicals, if anyone here can. All of us need to be ready in case something happens."

Vi has posed:
Vi had stopped at her room. She'd put a metal case into a backpack, though the case had a shoulder strap and handle so didn't really need another bag to make it easy to carry. But she did it anyway, carrying the backpack down with her to the chemistry labs.

"I ran into him the other day. It would be great if he could help. I talked to Professor Xavier and he said the cost of replenishing them wouldn't be a problem for the school. Just, we need to figure out the exact... um, I'm not sure the word. Purity? Whatever, the metals have to be just right for me to get full effects from them," she says as they approach the lab and rap on the doorway.

Spider-Man has posed:
There be Pete, after classes and after leaving the garage, sitting at his desk working on grading papers. "It's open." He calls out to the rap on the door, which comes ajar slightly since it wasn't fully closed anyways. His Mets hat is sitting on the desk 'red pen' in hand, marking through quizzes while Tommy is off doing some Tommy-like activity. Probably cleaning the dry erase board.

Triage has posed:
Even though the door threatens to swing on its own. Chris grabs the handle and eases it open and peeks inside first. "Mr. Parker, we need your help." He steps into the room and holds the door for Vi to follow. "We need to determine the purity of some samples."

Vi has posed:
Vi is wearing jeans and is back in her SHIELD sweatshirt. She's got about three sets of clothing now, or at least that's what she's tending to wear. But the heavy grey sweatshirt has gotten the most run from the young woman.

She steps inside as Triage holds the door for her. Vi moves over to where Peter is sitting at the desk. "Hope we aren't interrupting," she adds quietly. Vi sets the bookbag down on the desk, but rather than retrieve the metal case from it, she pulls out a small vial from her pocket.

She holds it out on her hand so Peter Parker can see it. It is clear, and has a clear liquid in it, plus lots of metal flakes and pebbles that are floating around, or gathered at the bottom for the larger ones. "This is water, with iron, steel, pewter and tin in it. I fuel my power with these. And I'm running low. Would you be able to help with figuring out the exact... whatever... they are, so I can get more vials made that are exactly the same... um, composition?"

Spider-Man has posed:
Pete keeps grading until the pair have entered, then glances up with a smile between them, "No interruption, just grading some quizzes." The small stack is shuffled off to the side of his desk when Vi steps forward, Tommy glancing up from his wiping the board when she explains what it is she needs from the teacher, but finds only Peter pointing at him. "You're still wiping boards." With a grumble, he returns to it.

"I'm sure I can, yeah." Holding out a hand for the vial, "Need to take a look at it under the microscope, but it all looks pretty standard from here. It's not going to blow up if I expose it to air, is it?" Pause... fingers curling, "I don't want to blow up... not again."

Triage has posed:
Chris looks from Peter to Vi. "They're ordinary metals with nothing added, right?" he asks her. He eyes the vial in Peter's hand. "They seem ordinary and harmless. When she metabolizes them, something happens. The thing is that without more of the metals, her gifts don't work. If something were to happen, she might not have many options for protecting herself without them."

Vi has posed:
Vi gives a slow nod. "As far as I know they are normal. Just, specific amounts of purity or... something. They made me try all different sorts of pewter," which Peter would know is an alloy so it could indeed have all sorts of different ratios of the constituent metals. As is steel. The iron or tin could also have different purity levels.

Vi says, "They aren't harmful to anyone. Or, not that I know of. People won't like swallowing them, even my stomach gets upset if I have too much of them." She pulls out a few more vials. "I have some vials that contain all four. And some that have just one metal each, so if I run out of that one I can replenish it without getting so much of the others I feel sick."

Spider-Man has posed:
Pete holds the vial up to the overhead lights between his index finger and thumb longways so the light shines in through the liquid and across the various elements inside. "Can I hold onto this?" He asks of Vi, looking from her to Chris, "I don't want to make you powerless or anything, but I'll need a day or two to run it through the analyser.." He hasn't uncapped the container just yet, waiting to hear back from Vi on the matter beforehand. "So long as there's no strange materials in the compound, it shouldn't be difficult to duplicate... maybe the pewter, but there's some pretty incredible equipment here in the lab. So long as I can get the raw ingrediants, in bulk.."

Glancing down and then back up at Vi, "So you drink this and it gives you those powers like I saw the other night?" So many questions. Tons of questions. Tons of dozens of questions.

Triage has posed:
Chris looks from Pete to Vi. "You did say that you have a few days' worth. He'll take good care of it," he assures Vi. "IF all goes well, you should have a good running supply. Until then, if your stomach gives you trouble due to any imbalance, you know where to find me. Okay? Don't hesitate to ask."

Vi has posed:
Vi nods her head back to Peter Parker. "Yes, go ahead. If you can help me make more, it would really set my mind at ease. I took a bunch from the Hydra lab when I escaped. But I've been burning through them at a steady rate," she says. She pats the backpack, which thumps when her hand contacts the metal case within.

Vi smiles over to Chris and gives him a quick nod of her head. "If I have any problems with it, I'll let you know. Thank you for getting me to Mr. Parker," Vi tells Triage with a grateful look.

As Peter asks about how the metals play into her powers, Vi nods. "I swallow them. Once they are in my body I can... well, I think of it as 'burning' them. I can sense them there. The first time I swallowed one of the right purity, I could sense it even though I'd never burned it before. I can burn it slow and it lasts longer but the effects are less. Or faster for more of an effect," she says.

Vi drops a washer between her feet and then she rises into the air just about a foot before falling back at a normal, gravity-fueled rate. "That was just a little harder than my weight. Or I could push really hard, burning my Steel faster, and, well I'd hit the ceiling hard."

Spider-Man has posed:
Pete shakes the vial. It's not a violent rattling, but just enough to see what the contents do under diress. Something observable without the need for equipment which would take time to set up and calibrate for his purposes.. but when Vi levitates herself, he turns to watch that too. "Huh, yeah.." The vial disappears into a pocket of his jeans, Tommy suddenly beside him now. "Well, a day or two at most and I'll at least know the contents and their proper combination. Might take a little longer to get enough supplies in the mansion to start producing larger quantities, but.." Hands out and up, "As soon as I can, I'll get you more... and I wont use much of this one so you've got that too."

Triage has posed:
"Until then, be careful," Chris warns. "I don't think that we're still requiring students to have escorts except for a few cases, but if you go somewhere outside, and particularly beyond the grounds, until you have enough fuel to protect yourself, you should have one." Then he looks to Peter and offers, "If I can help, run some errands or anything to speed up the process, I'll be glad to do my part. As I've said, none of us should risk being defenseless." He looks to Tommy and smiles. "He's a good kid," he says. "Stick with Mr. Parker and you'll learn more than you could imagine about chemistry."

Vi has posed:
Vi has such a smile on her face. Clearly she has been concerned about running out. She steps back and the washer she dropped on the floor flies up to her hand. Though they might notice it isn't drawn to her hand, but rather drawn towards her body and she seems to position her hand where it's going to go.

The washer goes back in a pouch, poorly made from some discarded fabric she found in a freighter's engine room. Vi says, "I've cut back my training to make the supply last longer. I still have another week or two at the rate I was using it, so not going to run out right away," she says. And that's not counting the vials she stashed in multiple places to have some in case of emergency. Though the need for it seems diminished now she is more familiar with the school.

Spider-Man has posed:
Peter has already checked out mentally, at least in regards to conversation. He's headed towards one of the work stations to dab out several slides of the liquid so he can take a look at it beneath the electron microscope, unawares of anything going on around him. Tommy, for his part, does not seem to like this version of Peter Parker nearly as much, but he's dutifully there to help where necessary. Without moving away from the port, the chemistry teacher waves slightly, "I'll let you know soon what I've found out and rough estimate on how long it will take to get all the necessary elements onsite to reproduce."

Triage has posed:
"Then we should leave you to the work," Chris concludes. "Thank you for helping with this." He looks to Vi and smiles when she steps back from the desk and the washer seems to levitate until she snatches it from mid-air and drops it into the pouch. "Do you need something sturdier for those?" he asks. "I'm sure that we could find something."

Vi has posed:
Peter will find they are just shavings of metal, in some cases small pebbles, though most of them are small enough they'd float when the water is jostled rather than just settle at the bottom. The water no doubt there to help it go down more smoothly. The vial tops can be opened with a thumb, pulling the stopper out and making for quick consumption.

Obviously Hydra had some thoughts in mind on how Vi might be used.

"Yes, thank you again, Mr. Parker," Vi says quietly. She flashes a smile to him, and then gives Tommy a little nod of her head. She isn't familiar with him, but no doubt what he's heard is going to spread through the students.

Vi glances down at her makeshift pouch. "Um, I don't know. I guess... maybe, yes? Something that doesn't get as many looks from people might not be bad. Just I like it having a whole just big enough for the washers so I can pull one out easily." She moves her hand up near her chest and a washer fights its way out of the pouch and darts up into her hand. She slips it back inside then.
