Synopsis: Magneto tracks down his wayward daughter, and Lorna confronts her father for his lies.
Cast of Characters: Polaris, Magneto

Polaris has posed:
Lorna relaxed on the edge of a pool at the top of a hotel skyscraper, the tropical jungle in the backdrop all around her. Her head was propped up by a towel, and she wore a simple black bikini as she dipped one leg into the pool, one arm draped over her middle and ignored the world at large. A pair of oversized sunglasses perched on her face as she dozed.

It had been a few weeks since she'd been forcibly exiled from Genosha for her own safety, less than half of that time, she'd abruptly gone radio silent. Her plaintiff calls to help, or to return had suddenly ceased with Emma's trip into her memory.. where she'd unlocked the secrets her father had tried so desperately to protect her from. That she had killed her mother on that fateful plane crash.

Even after the Nazi nightmare had been dealt with she'd ignored any updates, any phone calls. Any attempts to trace her location via her phone went to the Mansion.. but those that watched her position for the King of Genosha reported she'd flown off in a car a few days ago and hadn't returned. Where she had gone after that ...they didn't know.

While Lorna knew it was only a matter of time before her father got irritated and actually tried to find her, she didn't care for the time being. A few empty drinks were lined up in a neat row beside her on the pool's edge. The glass of the pool ending off the hotel's roof to a skyline view. No one else was there. It was just the Princess of Genosha, the sun, and the city far, far below.

Magneto has posed:
Magneto was less than amused when he had found out where Lorna had run off to. The King, managed to make his way to Brazil.

He was dressed in a red guayabera shirt, and white linen slacks, a white hat, and sunglasses of his own. Hovering over the edge of the pool, arms crossed and looking mostly unamused.

"You forced me to again come to this...sickening place." He comments, attempting to gain Lorna's attention. "This hellmouth built on the gold of our people, pilfered from their coffers and dead bodies." He hated Brazil, absolutely hated.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna half jumped in surprise at her father's sudden appearance, floating above her no more than yards away. She knocked off one of the empty cocktail glasses, swearing as she nearly fell off the edge of the pool and into the water. She caught herself on the lip of the pool, half in and half out of the water as she clutched at the lip of the pool with both hands. She huffed a breath, pushing green curls out of her eyes as she glared upward.

"I didn't make you do anything. I came here to get //away//. From you. From everything. Go back to Genosha or whatever. I don't care. Just leave me alone like you always do." She snapped, pushing herself upright and out of the water. She staggered slightly, twisting around to grab the sun wrap that rested on a nearby chair and pull it on around her waist.

Magneto has posed:
"Spare me the dramatics, child." Erik comments, looking to Lorna.

He hovered to firm floor, and landed. "I had you go to New York because we had found two members of staff's organs, and three more after that. You were not safe at the palace, no one was."

"Then you run off to..." He spits on the ground. "Brazil. Ignoring the calls back to the kingdom you will inherit. What sense does this make?" He asks, standing before her, looking at the princess, still unamused.

Polaris has posed:
"Child?!" Lorna's voice lifted into a snarl, as she glared at her father's figure as he lowered to the roof-top beside the pool. Her hands settled on her hips, "That is all I'll ever be to you, isn't it? Some helpless child that can't protect herself. I trained with you for over a year, learning my powers, everything, and it's still not enough for you. It's not enough to stand by your side and fight. It will never be enough, will it?!" She tilted her chin up, her lips twisted into a scowl.

"You know I defended you, so many times against Pietro, and he was right. He is always right, you can't stop manipulating people and doing what you think is right! I came here to get away from you. Because you lie. That's all you do. I live with you for over a year, and you lied to my face, every day I was there. I know what happened to my mother, I know what you did." She hissed.

Magneto has posed:
"You are my child, yes." Magneto counters. "Hardly so, Lorna. You are my daughter. And you could have this entire planet in the palm of your hand if you wished it, just like I could."

That was when she said it, what he had done all those years ago. He stood there, paused, not astonished, not backing down.

Polaris has posed:
Tears stung her eyes, and she blinked them back stubbornly as her hands curled into fists at her sides and she glared up at him. Her jaw worked into a knot, clenched, as her whole body stood taught and tense as a bow string ready to snap. "You left me. You took away my powers and my memories and you //left// me." She bit out. Her voice was choked as her tears spilled over despite her best attempts.

"And then you lied to me about. You kept it from me. After everything else! You were never going to tell me, were you?!" She was inhaling sharp, shallow breaths, and clearly struggling to get her words out as she quickly overcome with emotions that she'd barely had time to process. One of her clenched hands pressed against her lips as she stifled the sob that bubbled up at the back of her throat, if only barely.

Magneto has posed:
Magneto stands there, looking back at Lorna, keeping quiet.

He uncrosses his arms, then walks over to Lorna, slowly. "You weren't supposed to know." Well, yes, obviously. "Obviously, had I known you were to have a mental breakdown regardless, I would have let you live with the truth of what you did."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna's sobs broke through, and she hung her head as her father approached, her frame shuddering as she struggled to breathe and exhale enough to speak. She seemed to struggle with grasping her anger or her sorrow, and grief. Her eyes stung with tears as she blinked them back to glare at her father's figure. "I was three years old! I hardly knew what I'd gone through, much less what had happened with that plane crash! But nothing.. nothing prevented you from talking to me for the past year!" She choked out, her teeth gritting together as she finally sank to her knees, and pressed her hands against her throbbing head.

"How could you look me in the face and keep that from me?" She whimpered, and dissolved into sob that wracked her chest, and broke off anything further.

Magneto has posed:
"It did not seem like it was necessary." Magneto comments, crossing his arms. He was already starting to withdraw. "You were in such a state that it only seemed like a negative if you knew."

The man simply stands there, looking over his daughter, wishing he could kill whomever told her the secret he'd kept for so long.

Polaris has posed:
While the youngest of the magnet children seemed to struggle previously with sorrow, guilt, and anger, her father's words earned that familial temper instead. She was on her feet, her eyes blazing with tears as she felt her hands curl into fists at her sides. It was, incidentally, her father's training that kept her from leveling the glass in the windows that framed the penthouse suite, or from knocking out the power around them despite her rage and hurt.

"Is there anything else you didn't think was 'necessary' for me to know? Got any other memories you had erased from my mind?" She snarled, "What else have I done that you thought I was better off not knowing? How can I //trust// you ever again?"

Magneto has posed:
"What kind of a father would want to tell his daughter that she was responsible for the death of her mother? You are not making sense!"

He feels the energy moving off of her, he was always aware of the magnetic fields, like an unseen energy that only he and Lorna could read. "You? Nothing that I know of."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna pressed her hands against her face, tears staining her skin and leaving her eyes red and puffy as she rubbed at them. Her father's claims that she wasn't making sense sent a wave of panic down her spine that she //wasn't// mentally prepared for this confrontation that maybe she //was// overreacting. But all of those thoughts, those feelings were lost into the torrent of chaos that spun through her already.

Her breath came in short bursts and she struggled to inhale and exhale, to calm the pounding in her head and the racing of her heart. The green haired magnokinetic fought against instinct that said she should yell and scream and destroy something in her rage, her hurt.. her guilt. She went through the paces to pull back, to try to retain some measure of thought and control, she'd gone to therapy for years after all, and the Professor hadn't been wrong that she should continue it... even if she was avoiding that.

"I deserved to know. I deserved to know that I was responsible for that plane crash. That my powers caused it. That I lived because of my powers. That you took that choice from me, that you continue to keep that a secret isn't right."

Magneto has posed:
"Given your current reaction, I beg to differ. But that is a moot point now." He comments, he did not exhibit any outward hostility or anger. He was very even keeled given the situation.

"So, what are you going to do? Abdicate your title? Disown your father?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna shuddered, her gaze lifting back to her father. "I had to go back into my head with telepathy to see what happened, because when I had questions you told me to stay out of Genosha for my safety. So my mother's death is replaying over and over in my head like it just happened yesterday. It's completely different than someone //telling// me what happened." She snapped, her jaw working into a clenched line, her teeth grinding against one another as she rubbed furiously at her eyes.

Anger was easier, anger and hurt at her father was far, far easier than sorrow and self loathing that she'd struggled with for weeks.

Her throat tightened and constricted, she looked down, her hands scraped over her eyelids again. Her tears finally drying to leave her features reddened and ruddy. "I don't know." She choked out, "It's why I came here." She added after a beat, biting her lower lip hard enough to turn the skin white. Her green eyes, so like her mother's gaze, lifted up again.

There was no small amount of hurt in her gaze now, glassy from her tears and red rimmed as they were. She sniffled once, and rubbed her nose with the edge of her palm. Her magnetic fields were now wrapped tightly around her, before they'd formed an almost rebuffing circle about her, matching own fields to her father's.. but now that was gone. She'd drawn them so tightly inward it was almost impossible to feel her presence in the magnetic fields.

Magneto has posed:
Magneto keeps his opinion to himself concerning the telepathy.

"To Brazil of all places." He almost spat, he hated this country. "Well then, since you are determined. Is there any more you wish to let out right now?"

Magneto stepped towards Lorna. Slowly, he approached, and reached out to her. "I hope you are never in the position I was in, damned if you do, damned if you don't."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna glanced about once and back as her father said 'Brazil' like it was a curse word. Her eyebrows pinched together as if unbelieving that her father held the whole country responsible for something that had happened so long ago.. but realized immediately that it wasn't a long time ago to him. It never would be. Perhaps the two of them were just too alike when it came down to it, unable to let go of things that had happened. Trauma had shaped both of their lives.

"No.. not unless you have some other secrets about my life.." She muttered, her voice soft and raw. Then her father was approaching her and reached out. For all his slowness, she practically launched herself into his arms, wrapping them tightly around him and pressing her face against his chest.

"It was either here or Texas?" She mumbled, closing her eyes. "Roberto stopped me from driving off to wherever.."

Magneto has posed:
Lorna is embraced, given a big hug. Though he still chooses his words carefully. "Not your life, others yes. But Pietro's is a different story." He admits, before moving to another subject. "At least Texas was not built on Nazi gold. You do not know half the stories I have from here." He offers snidely, before more. "Mark one for Da Costa then. Still more to be desired."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna sniffled again, content to just hang in the magnetic presence of her father's embrace. Even if he hadn't been there to soothe her fears as child, to chase away nightmares and comfort her when she'd grown.. there was comfort still to be had. She had lived with him, under his roof for over a year now. She was the closest of his children, and the one he'd tried to protect her whole life.

Still, his words earned raised brow and she pulled back and away to shoot her father a look. "Dad, America took in plenty Nazi scientists and helped them relocate and washed their history. Yet you still let me go to school in New York." She drawled, arching a brow. She let the comment about Pietro slide, for now. But there was a look in her eye that promised that wasn't something she was about to let go entirely.

Her trust was partially broken in her father, while he might not have //lied// directly.. it was one of omission. She still wasn't okay, and was still processing the memories.

"Roberto has been trying to check in on me.. make sure I was semi-functioning the past few weeks. He's not that bad, you know."

Magneto has posed:
"Yes, but slightly different. Here in this cesspool, they were allowed to carry on the Reich." Erik comments whilst holding Lorna close. "He better not be making advances, or else he will be semi-functioning." He comments about Roberto, indeed, Magneto is none amused when it comes to Roberto Da Costa. "Or better yet, less than functioning."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna stepped back, slowly as her father started in on his Nazi hunting days. She knew to go down that path would mean several hours and long lectures. She'd heard them, either directed at herself or someone else. And standing beside Roberto's pool in the middle of Brazil wasn't the time to start again. She glanced around and back to father as he continued on about Roberto not making advances.

"Uhm.. about that..." She trailed off, biting her lower lip. Maybe she wasn't entirely mentally sound when she'd agreed to Roberto's plans about Brazil.. or when she'd agreed to a 'breakfast date'.. or anything else frankly. She let the words hang as she glanced back at her father and pushed her hair back from her face.

Magneto has posed:
Erik's blue eyes simply go dead for a bit, glossing over as he releases Lorna.

He begins to float up, and from his pockets, what looks like buckshot trails to his hands, forming two large bearings. "Where is he?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna cursed, her eyes going wide as her father abruptly released her and he floated up into the air. "Dad, no. No. No. Remember that whole, I'm an adult? I can make my own choices? And if Roberto asked me out I can say yes or no?" She remained on the roof beside the pool, barefoot and wearing her swimsuit and wrap still. She wasn't in the habit of flying about in crowded cities, much less when her father was suddenly switching to murder mode.

"Dad, we've had a breakfast date after I flew us down here. That's all. Please calm down."

Magneto has posed:
"He makes such scathing comments about our family, then has the gall to make advances on you? I did not think I could be more disgusted. Mark my words, Lorna, he is the worst. Probably made his family fortune off your ancestors too."

Magneto puts away the bearings for now, but he remains in the offensive. "A pox on his family." He says, spitting to the side. "I will await your return in Genosha." He says before he takes off, he would find something with Roberto's name on it to destroy, that would make him feel better.
