Showing off the Bunker
Date of Scene: 17 November 2019
Location: Auxillary Batcave
Synopsis: Carrie catches up on current events with Kitty. Shows off the Bunker to her.
Cast of Characters: Carrie Kelley, Shadowcat

Carrie Kelley has posed:
There was a lot to catch up on between Carrie and Kitty. Too much had gone on for too long to keep them apart for various reasons. Yet... Catching up needed to be done. Maybe even a bit of showing off. Carrie texted Kitty asking she meet her at the Wayne Charity Foundation building where she'd been 'doing some work' she wanted to share. So it's here she waits in the lobby next to the receptionist desk chatting idly with the lady who sits there. Apparently she was a well known face around here these days.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde drives her car over from New York. Carrie would know Kitty is splitting time between her room at the school, and at the Sanctum, and at Peter's apartment. Mostly the latter if time allows. She seems very upbeat about seeing the redhead again.

Kitty parks her car and grabs a bag from the passenger seat before heading inside. Moving into the lobby, Carrie is quickly spotted and Kitty moves over to her.

"Oh I'm the worst of friends," Kitty says with a sigh. She'll offer Carrie a hug if she's allowed, and holds it for a little bit, hugging tightly before letting Carrie go. "I really needed to make time for you and I haven't been," Kitty says with a sigh. She holds up the little gift bag, decorated with a bit of colorful tinsel at the top. "Made these for you. Under mom's supervision. Told her I needed to make up for being an absentee friend and she suggested snickerdoodles and macaroons. But I'm a disaster in the kitchen, so she sat there with me on video while I made them. I swear she'd have smacked me with a spoon a half-dozen times if she could have reached through the screen."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley tears her attention away from the receptionist when she hears Kitty come in to flash her friend a tight smile. The hug is accepted, and returned, with a little bit of a tight squeeze. It had been way too long. "It's that time of year, yeah?" She jokes lightly with a small laugh. "Just a lot going on all around. I heard you had some tough times, too, but that school of yours is pretty exclusive." Even if she'd wanted to break it she knew it would have done more harm than good just for the purpose of visiting Kitty.

A step back is taken to look her over as the bag is offered out, and accepted with a small nod. "Your mom sounds nice. Nicer than mine at least," she mutters a bit dryly. That was a topic for another time, though. This was for catching up. "It's good to see you, Kitty, thanks for coming. I wanted to show you some of the charity work I've been helping with."

A glance is cast back over her shoulder to the receptionist along with a friendly, "See you later!" as Carrie ushers Kitty further in toward the executive elevator. The one meant just for one individual... and herself as of late it seems.

Carrie waits until the door shuts to let out a long sigh. "Thanks for coming, Kitty. I wanted to show you what the Boss gave me when he thought he was going to kick the big one." Lightly clearing her throat she lifts her head and says simply, "Kestrel."

The lighting in the elevator instantly changes from the harsh white of LED lights to a red glow. The interior of the elevator is lit up showing schematics from various areas of the city. A running written log of the current police radio scrolls across one area, while another shows traffic patterns and closures. It's all spread out in a heads up display reminiscent of a scene right out of Tron.

"Voice recognized. Welcome, Kestrel."

Carrie grins broadly, "Wait till you see this," She offers as the elevator descends to it's hidden destination, revealed when the doors open upon stopping.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde smiles to Carrie and lets out a long sigh at one of her comments, nodding, but waiting until they are alone in the elevator to say, "Yeah. I was actually in a coma for a little while at one point. I'm sorry if word didn't make it out, but it was Sentinel-caused and so was kept kind of hush-hush. Was only two days. I got hit with a nullifier that sort of... lingered, so some mutant healers couldn't heal me until it faded away. I'm right as rain now though," Kitty assures.

They ride down together, Kitty showing obvious curiosity at where they are going. "Oh wow," she says as they step into the cave. "Carrie, this is pretty awesome!" she says, looking around. "So is this an alternate Batcave then, or, did you get your own little Markovia Station?" Kitty asks with a big grin. She slides her arm about her friend's shoulders to give her a congratulatory hug.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley leans in against her friend's side with a little chuckle at the questions. "Welcome to the Bunker," she explains gesturing with her free hand to the area. Though it was mostly the stark, sterile concrete it had been before she'd at least added a comfortable couch and bean bag in one area to just sit and relax. "It's an auxillary batcave, but he gave it to me to use as I 'grow more into my own.' So I'd have the resources to do so. It's got an uplink to the main cave, and probably access to the Clocktower, too. I need to speak to Babs about that," she adds with a bit of thought.

"But really it's... just huge. I wasn't expecting this at all." Glancing down she considers before adding, "I think he set this up because he thought he wouldn't be around to keep teaching me in the future. I mean, going up against Superman... and he was touch and go for awhile there."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Kitty is given a return side squeeze hug as she adds, "I heard something happened but yeah... I'm glad you're doing better. Was worried for awhile there."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty returns the side hug, and then continues looking around. "I can imagine. If I had to do what he did, I'd have planned for something like that for those I care about," she says. "See, means he cares!" she says with the kind of soft laugh that those used to Batman's glowering looks would understand.

"Well, you need a cool Kestrel name for it of course. The Roost?" Kitty proposes with a grin. "If Babs set it up I'm sure the computers are top notch. But I'd be happy to take a look if you wanted," she says.

Kitty will let Carrie lead the way. "YOu mentioned your parents. Everything well there? And, anything else interesting in your life I haven't heard about?"

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley crinkles her nose again at the mention of parents as that was a touchy subject as of late. Even so she offers a grin. "I'm good with the Bunker for now. It was just 'auxillary batcave' before. This place really looks like a bunker, though. Feels like it'd withstand a nuke. Rather not test it of course," she adds solemnly. There was no sense in even risking bringing that on herself or Gotham in general. "I'll think of it though. Feel free to look over the computers," she suggests as she steps up to the main console to hit a few keys which causes various areas to rise up out of the ground showing all that the bunker holds. "It's kind of neat, isn't it?"

Another sigh, and she hangs her head some. "We ran into my parents at the dumpling place. They wandered in and Jason messed around with them some suggesting we were a couple. Given I was pretending to date Tim in the papers for awhile, they assumed it was him, and..." She shudders a little. "Haven't spoken to me in almost a year and suddenly they won't stop texting and calling to 'check on me' and see how my relationship is doing. Oh, and they want to come to Thanksgiving dinner with the Waynes."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde finds a place to lean back against as she listens to the parent situation unfold. Kitty's expression goes in all sorts of directions, from surprise to laughter to shock, back to laughter, and finally to commiseration. "Oh Carrie. That is just... ah... yeah. I'm so sorry," she says, shaking her head.

"So, is coming clean with them a bad option? Not the... posing to catch a murderer part. But let them know it was a badly done joke and you didn't want to make them feel awkward, but now it's just running away even more, so time to fess up?" Kitty suggests.

"And, do I gather then that there isn't anyone actually filling the role of lucky to have Carrie Kelley's affection, at the moment?" she asks.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley sits up a bit with a sigh. "I was thinking of telling them that Tim had asked me to pose as his girlfriend to get it through to an overly amorous ex they were, in fact, done. I mean that's not too out there in believability... right?" She wasn't entirely certain at this point either way. "They're more interested in what connections I can get them at this point though. Pretty sure," she mumbles looking down to her hands which were still holding onto the package of cookies Kitty had brought.

"Ah, nah I'm still single. Huge surprise there," she adds with a playful wink toward Kitty. "I don't really meet the best sorts in this line of work."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty reaches over and slides her arms about Carrie's shoulders if allowed, hugging her and pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Yeah, we need to get you circulating in some other circles. And I think that would be a great way to handle your parents," she says, continuing to snug her friend supportively if allowed.

"You have such an amazing life, Carrie. I mean, you know I was kind of thrust into this life. I never told you the story of my early days with my mutation, but a bad guy came calling, which had a lot to do with me ending up with my team," she tells Carrie. "But you? All grit and gristle and determination, making your way into a life that few could handle. I have so much respect for you," Kitty says with a smile.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley huffs out a sigh only to flash a smile in return. "Yeah, but you don't have much of a choice either. I mean... people are outright hunting mutants. I could just go back to living a very ordinary boring life and be safe. You got to fight," she reasons giving Kitty a grin. "Which means I ought to fight, too. Because there's those who can't and need it. Especially in this city, but moreso all over. The things going on are just too much these days."

Lightly shaking her head, she adds, "You know you're always someone I look to when I want to get down on myself. You manage to keep going no matter what or how much it frightens you. So you're not doing so bad yourself," she teases. "But yes, please, I need me a social life," she adds with a warm laugh of agreement.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty beams a beautiful smile at the redhead. "And that's why you're special. So many people out there, wouldn't care. Only if they were forced to it themselves would they care. That whole... they came for the blanks and I said nothing, because I wasn't a blank," Kitty says.

The brunette gives a quick nod. "We should go out, you and Pete and I. You haven't gotten to spend much time with him yet, and I'd love to have you get to know him well. He's very fun. And we got a puppy. It wasn't really planned. Rogue had a golden retrieve puppy in need of a home, so we took him in," she says with a smile. "Jester is his name."

She doesn't mention the dog was the gift of a super-villain who has probably tried to kill Kitty a few times. They did check the dog for bombs though.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley grins warmly at that. "Yeah, he seems a nice guy. I'd like to get to know him a bit better... And dogs are always good," she affirms with a knowing nod. "Though at least I get to pet Abaddon now and then when I'm at the manor. That's Damian's cat," she adds in case it wasn't known. She couldn't really remember if she'd seen the cat or not. "Bruce kind of moved me into the manor a couple months ago against my will, but..." Sheepishly she adds, "It was probably a good idea honestly. I was really starting to slip with school and work and the late nights."

Lightly clearing her throat she lifts a hand to brush aside that topic. Admitting she was wrong isn't always easy to do after all. Accepting help moreso. "He did let me keep my Camry at least. Though I don't use it as much anymore given I have an entire freaking arsenal of options to choose from." Grinning broadly she adds, "He gave me one of the old batmobiles. Just looks like a regular Corvette but inside... wow. Kitty you have got to ride in it sometime."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty claps her hands. "Kestrel and Blackbird will ride," Kitty says with a grin. "Things are a little better now. The Sentinels aren't finished, but they've been dealt a huge blow. The one from the future was destroyed. And... ah, there's this nuclear-powered base with a reactor in critical condition which is alternately teleporting through time into Texas that I need to help deal with. But after that I think my schedule clears up a lot," Kitty offers.

"And Lockheed will be happy to see you again," she says with a grin. "Hopefully we don't end up having to chase explosive-laden buses down the highway together. But, you know, maybe a nice sedate mugging or drug deal?" Kitty teases.

She smiles and says, "I'm sorry I've been away so long though. I'll try to not let it happen again though."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley manages a laugh at the mention of their names together only to shake her head with bemusement. "Oh there's plenty going on around here still," she assures. "There's some murders going on in Conventry that may be demonically influenced, Poison Ivy's taken over control of an island, and just... the usual stuff," she adds with a flippant wave of her hand. "Hope the Texas thing goes okay, that sounds pretty dangerous."

Solemnly she nods in agreement. "Same. I know I've probably not been the easiest to get ahold of. We should make a deal to check in at least once every week or two, maybe. It'd be nice to have you around again. The dumpling house is still there, too," she adds with a grin. "Good as ever."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty winces at the mention of things happening in Gotham. "Yeah, was watching about Ivy in particular. Well, if you need someone to get to her, I've tried to keep my phasing on the low key as much as I can here. But if needed to get in past her plants, I'm willing. Though it's a big island, I can't hold it forever," she says.

Kitty smiles and nods. "Definitely. And tell you what, first get together, my treat at a spa in Manhattan. Found one with Rogue and Betsy... oh it's been months ago. Actually it was with Rogue first. But anyway, really great place. Massage that will leave you feeling like you have no bones. Just awesome," Kitty says with a grin.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
"Sold," Carrie says pointing at Kitty with a grin. "You had me at massage. You know I've neer had one before. I could use one." Laughing quietly she shakes her head considering. "I probably could look at spas and stuff myself on occasion. I keep forgetting I have money now. Like I caught myself the other day looking at a pair of winter boots that were $150 thinking 'That's too expensive.' And it's not cheap by far, but it's something I could afford now if I really wanted. I just feel guilty and weird spending money."

Shadowcat has posed:
"I know what you mean. I wasn't maybe poor college student, but I was at least frugal college student. Now? I'm barely paying rent and have a good paying job and... I just squirrel it away mostly," Kitty says. "Except for things like a spa day for my good friend. That's well worthwhile," Kitty says with a big grin.

"I need to get around and see Jason again. It went surprisingly well when we talked. Or, well I don't know what it was like after I left. At least while I was there he seemed ok," Kitty says. "I do hope for the best for him. I still care about him a lot. It was hard accepting things at first, but... I could tell it was what he wanted. Needed, even if I didn't understand it all."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley considers the issue of Jason quietly for several long moments with her lips pursed together. "He's... Himself," she reasons with a slow nod. "Still teasing and joking and occasionally moody. I think there's been enough going on to distract him from things. Or maybe he's got some other way to deal, but it's been kind of nice having him around again. He and Damian and I eat out a fair deal. Or work together when we can." Here she pauses letting out a breath. "I really ought to talk to Dick some. He's had it rough these last few weeks."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty nods slowly as she listens to Carrie. "Good. I'm glad he has you and the others," Kitty says of Jason. "He's had such a rough life. He really does deserve some happiness. But he's got things... things to deal with," Kitty says, looking away. Her hand goes to her upper chest, as if expecting to find Martha Wayne's ring there. But she doesn't wear it often now, not unless she's going to the manor usually, for the mixed signals it could send. She just finds her Star of David hanging from the necklace, giving it a little twist before letting it go.
