The Tower of Mustard
Date of Scene: 25 November 2019
Location: Roof, Titans Tower
Synopsis: Kory and Amarok practiced quarterstaffs on the roof, and after a few good lessons parted ways.
Cast of Characters: Amarok, Starfire

Amarok has posed:
The night is clear over the tower, the moon and stars outshining the lights of the surrounding city. By the pool's edge, Amarok disquiets the night with the sounds of practice with his staff, whirling the air and cracking across the ground as he goes through a series of complex maneuvers, repeatedly crisscrossing the roof using the rod as a spring.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r levitates upwards, her hair glowing like a bonfire as she looks aty ou, sipping her mustard. "Why don't you ever take your costume off?" she asks. "The rest of us know who each other are - why don't you trust us?" she finally asks, eyebrow raised.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok shows no surprise at Kori's arrival, continuing the kata without pause, "...I take it off plenty...When I'm alone." He twirls, spinning the staff along his side, up around and over his head to the other side, "Trust is earned, princess. I barely know you and have no reason to have any faith in you."

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r nods slowly. "Fair." She sighs softly. "I would like to attempt to earn such," she states softly as she moves to land on the roof. She then sees what you're doing. "Quarterstaff - I should have one in my room." She darts away for a moment.

She returns in a few minutes iwth a quarterstaff of her own, as she ponders. "I was trained how to duel with swords... haven't done much wiht a quarterstaff of late." She smiles. "Perhaps you could show me some techniques?"

Amarok has posed:
Amarok simply grunts at Kori as she leaves. When she returns, ready and willing to train, he stops mid-polevault and looks at her. Even with his helmet blocking his expression, his look of surprise is obvious, "...You...Actually want to train?.....Alright, princess. You've already gained a step over the others..." He says before twirling around the staff almost like a snake, bringing himself to the ground on one hand, then twisting up to his feet, "....I prefer swords myself, but this is safer..." He straightens up, the staff at his side and gestures for Kori to advance, "...I'll try not to bruise you too badly." He says with a small hint of excitement in his tone.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r grins widely. "Yeah - I've heard that a lot. I'm far tougher than I look." She smiles as she stands on the ground, staff held in her hands as she makes a few feints with it. She looks pretty comfortable with a weapon she doesn't use all the time. She is just trying to draw a reaction out of you.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok dodges the jabs with minimal effort, darting out a sudden clap with the tip of his staff as Kori reorients from her latest feint, forcing a defence as he slips back, twirling the staff around and behind him as he does and sinking into a slow defensive strafe around her, "And I hear that a lot....Usually a few minutes before I'm crushing someone's knees with a car engine..." He says calmly.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r smiles softly. "Someone's knees? That's rather uncouth. You don't wnat to make it so people can't walk anymore..." she states as she yelps as she barely dodges the poke as she watches you, slowly spinning in plae as you start strafing around you, watching your movements as she is quickly emulating your activities.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok continues his silent strafe around Kori for just long enough to be uncomfortable, suddenly piping up as he begins a rapid trio of staff strikes, twisting it around for a hard shot at her shoulder, "Your grip is too tight, loosen up." He calmly orders as the second strike comes down towards Kori's thigh, suddenly twisting back around for a sweeping baseball swing towards Kori's face, wasting no time with following up with a swift and hard seperating straight kick, "C'mon, princess. Dont think of this as training, think of me as your enemy. Now. Again." He says as he loosens up into another defensive position.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r ooooofs as you nail her shoulder but she is ready for the other strikes and manages to block htem. She squints at you. "Very well. But if this was a true combat, I'd be flying and using my eyebeams or starbolts," she states as she begins a furious and rapid assault, doing her best to influct as mnch damage as possible.

Amarok has posed:
Amarok lets out a slow exhale as Kori begins her onslaught, slowly backing up as he twirls his staff to block and parry for various attacks, letting a few glance off his armor with a loud thunking ring, when suddenly, his staff worms between Kori's legs, suddenly darting to one side, and Amarok lunges forward, ducking under a strike towards his shoulder and catching Kori by the forearm, using the staff's and his lower center of gravity to flip and drag her over it and down to the ground, the staff quickly coming to her throat, "....Not bad. But you overextend your thrusts. If they hit they land harder, but they're too dangerous to use against a skilled opponent."

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r gasps as the staff gets between her legs and your skills got her on the ground with the staff at her throat. "Mmmmmm - this is not my usual weapon, but I got some good strikes with it." She gazes up at you, smiling softly. "I should consider trying to adapt this to 3D combat..." she muses softly as she then stares at you. "I would strongly suggest moving that off my throat or I'll blast you off of me. I don't like being bound for long."

Amarok has posed:
Amarok stands up, holding a hand out to help Kori to her feet, "Sometimes letting your foe hit you merely creates an opening. I had a fight in Gotham last year with an assassin, had to catch her claws through my hands to pin her down....Dont be afraid to get creative."

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r nods. "Yeah... I suppose so," she states as she rises to her feet with your hand. "So... that was interesting. I'll take your lessons to heart and practice. Anything you'd like to do now?"

Amarok has posed:
Amarok pulls Kori to her feet, then turns his gaze up to meet hers, stupid aliens and their hugeness...No, not THAT hugeness, "I need to check a few of the security features and then get back to Gotham....And you need to find some real clothes, how are you not freezing?" He says as he turns away and starts for the door, retracting his staff with a push of a tiny button and returning it to his belt.

Starfire has posed:
Koriand'r smiles faintly. "Why? I'm perfectly fine. I can fly in space. This is nothing compared to space." She shrugs. "Though the air's much nicer here." She stretches as she goes to head in - then grabs the jug of mustard she left before going down the stairs with you.
