Date of Scene: 26 November 2019
Location: Private Office, the Blue Lady
Synopsis: Nick is hired as the temporary pianist for the Blue Lady.
Cast of Characters: Thomas Raith, Phantasm (Drago)

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith has invested a great deal of money, time, money, blood, money, sweat, money, and tears...and also money into making the Blue Lady a sucess. Considering the Incubus mostly uses it as a feeding ground for his unique tastes, you likely wouldn't guess it's as much work as it is. So when one of his preformers suddonly had to take a leave of absence, Thomas had to scramble to find a replacement. Hense the ad he took out in a few papers, and hense the interview he is about to conduct.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Due to the nature of this meeting, and much to the discomfort of Bob the agent, Nick has forgone his usual street attire. With no hat to hide the hair, he instead has pulled the trademark locks back into a neat pony tail. Instead of the Goodwill threads, he is dressed in black dress pants of a much higher quality with a blue dress shirt.

The performer had not originally seen the ad that Thomas placed, but the owner of the recording studio he often plays at did. It seemed like a safe enough gig so Nick is now here. The entrance was a little delayed with the trio of larger employers meeting the large suit that has been assigned to him but eventually he got to leave Bob behind and be led to the office. "Mr. Raith?"

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith is wearing his trademark white, and looking very much like the owner of the the 1920's Speak-easy that he has designed the Blue Lady to replicate. "Thomas, please. Try to keep things mostly informal around the staff at least." He offers the man a handshake, "So have you had a chance to listen to Sasha preform?" he asks curiously pouring a a glass of amber liquid from a crystal decanter into a highball glass.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
The man who looks to be in his early twenties takes the offered hand, giving a firm shake. "Thomas it is then. I go by Nick." Following cue, he doesn't bring the last name into the introduction. That can always be handled later if necessary. Handshake complete, he lowers his hand while giving a shake of his head, "I can't say I've had the pleasure to yet. I tend to get called into the studio a lot during my off hours. But, I have heard nothing but great things about the performances at The Blue Lady."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith smiles a bit, "You've never heard of my club before today, have you son?" The man isn't that much older then Nick himself butr still he looks amused. "She's got a voice like smoke over satin. She's likely going to be very big some day, and as a result of her contract with me, possibly put the Lady on the map in a big way. " He sits back down swirling his drink slowly, "Unfortunately her piano man, Rey, came down with a bad case of 'getting caught in bed with another man's wife.'" the man smirks slightly shaking his head, "Said husband smashed a brass lamp across his hand in the ensueing fight."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"That doesn't make my statement any less true," Nick replies, giving a bit of a smile to Thomas's assessment of Nick. "Well, although Rey has run into some bad luck, you haven't." He reaches into his pocket to pull out a card with the Shaw Studios logo with Wade Shaw's office number. "Because for the amount of time it takes your regular guy to heal from this particular misadventure, you are covered." He offers the card over to Thomas, "This should also save you time on the newspaper ads later, should Rey have a ... relapse."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith laughs at that, a full rich laugh at the other man's comments. "Well let's go down stairs, and we'll see what you've got. I've got some recordings of Sasha as well for you to take with you if you want to give them a listen first?"

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Very well." Nick replies, stepping aside to allow for the potential temporary employer to take the lead, "I would like a few recordings of Sasha so I get a feel for her style, but that doesn't mean I can't play a little up front."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith nods a bit and pulls out a pair of Cd's and offers it to the other man. He heads down the stairs into the main club. It's always a little weird coming into a club when it's empty, but Thomas turns down the lights to spotlight the stage and the snow white baby grand piano there. "well let's hear what you've got." He says with a smile.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick takes the CDs in hand, giving a momentary glance in the general direction of Bob who was in the middle of being shown some type of pictures by one of the bouncer types. Turning back to the piano, he steps up to the stage area, demeanor changing slightly as the laid back smile drifts away. He sets the CDs down gently before stepping over to the piano, eyes looking over the instrument, absentmindedly running his hands gently across the exposed keys without making a sound.

He sits upon the bench, as fingers touch the keys, his eyes close and a soft smile forms. Gentle key presses ensue, rhythm swaying in a relaxed, content manner as the fingers travel along the board.

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith moves to sit at one of the tables. Not his own private table with "Reserved for Thomas Raith", but rather one more towards the middle. What would be, to a trained preformer, likely the "worst seat" in the house. He wants to hear what the guest in that seat would hear.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
While gentle, the notes are given enough force to carry with the rhythm allowing for enough separation to prevent the sound from being muddled. Soothing. Not Confusing. The song trickles an end. Nick holds still, allowing for the last note to reverberate for a few more moments before lifting his foot off the pedal to shorten the sound.

Eyes opening, Nick shifts over to a more upbeat song, with a bit of a samba feel mixed into it. His shoulders move a bit more with this one, as he provides a bit more push. It still maintains the the elements of jazz, it's definitely improv, but, it works.

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith smiles a bit, leaning back in his chair and closing his eyes. Just letting the music flow over him. After the man plays three songs Thomas nods. He stands up and offers his hand. "Can you start tomorrow night?" he asks with an easy smirk on his lips...

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick gets up from the bench and partially kneels down on the stage to compensate for the height difference in order to take Thomas's offered hand for another handshake, "I believe I can. And in case Rey has need to take some more time off later on, Shaw and I can vouch for any of the piano players currently on Shaw Studio's session musician call list."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith nods. "I'll keep that in mind. So a few ground rules. You get a meal and all the soft drinks you want before your set. After your set you can have two drinks from the bar. You'll be paid after every set. There is a blonde cigar girl who works here named Didi. she's sweet and very flirtaious. Treat her like she's made of kryptonite."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Seems fair enough." Nick agrees, shifting back up to his feet to go collect the CDs near the stage steps. "And definite agreement on the not hitting on the coworkers part." He gives the CDs another look, "Way too much drama from that."

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith smirks a little bit, "Oh she's going to hit on you. Believe me on that score. I'm just seriously advising you not to take her up on it." He nods a bit and gestures to the CD's. "Listen to those. See what you can do. Practice Long kiss goodnight especially, it's her signiture number. And I suppose I'll see you day after tomorrow."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick's head tilts curiously, "So you won't be in tomorrow?"

Thomas Raith has posed:
Thomas Raith smiles a little bit amused. "I am going to be indulging in what is for me, a special occasion, I am taking an actual personal day with a beautiful young woman..." he says it a bit amused. "Trust me, if you don't do well, I'll hear it from Sasha... the woman is...not shy."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"A personal day." Nick repeats, the phrase seeming foreign on his tongue. He pauses, tilting his chin up in acceptance of the concept, "Alright. Enjoy your personal day. And no worries. If I can't get Sasha to love me, I'll at least get her to tolerate me until your regular guy gets back. But first-" The musician steps down to the main floor, lifting up the CDs. "-homework."
