Cast of Characters: Sunspot, Polaris

Sunspot has posed:
They are back to New York just a couple days and damn. Missing Rio much already. Because it is cold (which doesn't bother him much) and it is cloudy (which sucks for Roberto).

Technically Rio-to-NYC in November causes only about a 20% raw power reduction for the Brazilian mutant. On paper it is not much. But the psychological impact of the sudden change is not as easy to shrug off. So Berto has been grumpy. Which means he decided to keep away of Lorna for a bit, claiming to be swamped by work (which he was, anyway) and vent his bad mood on incompetent lawyers and lazy managers.

But now he was feeling better. And look, snow outside. He likes snow the way someone that has never been trapped in a blizzard or felt cold in years likes snow. He even flew the whole way from New York just to see the snow-covered landscape. So he is low on energy reserves, but who cares? He is here to see Lorna, not to hit the Danger Room.

He texted ahead, of course. So the knock at the princess' door is not unexpected.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna had been swamped herself with digital correspondence from Genosha, phone conferences, and emails. Endless emails. Council members that sent endless complaints to the heir apparent, rather than speaking to Magneto himself, badgered the Princess incessantly, trying to convince her to return and take up her duties. It had been over a month since her departure from Genosha and no one was thrilled at her continued absence.

A sigh pulled from the green haired Princess' lips, and a smile came to life on her expression at Roberto's text that he was on the way. As he arrived and knocked outside the former Master Suite of Mansion, the door swung open to Lorna's room with a wave of her hands.

Lorna for her part, had made tea and set it down on the end table between the two plush chairs by the fireplace. A soft song playing in the background and the smell of fresh baked cookies invaded the room. Not that Lorna had really left her room, but people kept checking in on her and bringing her something to eat none the less. For which she was grateful.

A roaring fire burned in the fireplace, and warmed the room a good distance away. A stack of wood beside it suggested that the magnokinetic had been in and out a few times to load up and not leave for a while.

"Roberto!" She flashed him a smile, scooting off her bed and padding over toward the sun-powered mutant. She was bare foot, wearing an oversized grey sweater and pair of black leggings. She would reach for him, making to wrap her around him in an embrace.

"How was work?"

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto was pulling off his coat, which he used to keep the snow off him, when Lorna opens the door. "Lorna, my princess," he greets with a smile. When she hugs, he drops the coat to reciprocate. "Work was fine. Sometimes annoying, rarely boring," beat, "well, not boring for me. I suspect most people would find meetings, interviews and cross-referencing reports and stock-market numbers pretty unfun. But for me it is like... puzzles, and architecture. There is a weird magic charm in business-building."

Pause for a long kiss, because it has been too long. He is still in the phase where it is an effort of will to keep his hands off her. "How are you? Are they swamping you with pricess-ly demands and whinning?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna was unable to stop smiling at seeing Roberto, she couldn't help it, it was reflexive to upon seeing him still. A something new that she couldn't help. As he dropped the coat to pull her close, she leaned into his warmth, cooler than most.. partially due to her magnetic heritage, and partially because she was.. but he was deliciously warm. The tropical island Princess was decidedly, not a huge fan of the cold.

An eyebrow arched upward as he spoke of work, and anything further, sarcastic remark or not, was cut off as he kissed her. She broke away with a laugh on her lips, and amusement in her gaze. Though the shadows that lingered there spoke of sleepless nights and how badly she was still coping with things.

"Oh, yeah, and then some. My father doesn't do public relations with the people of Genosha. I haven't been there for a month. There are charity galas, openings for shelters, hospitals, schools, and the alike I've missed. And the Council is pissed that I haven't been there. They like me rather than my father because I don't cut them off and I just let them talk and talk.. I've been in constant contact since I picked up my phone again. Emails, phone conferences, and what not." She rolled her eyes and sighed heavily.

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto listens, arching and eyebrow, and the smiles. Smiles widening when he hears how much in demand is poor Lorna. "Well, of course. I bet they all think Magneto will listen to you. Which he does, hmm? But he I suspect he will do whatever he had already decided before talking to you, and regardless of what your opinion."

Because fathers are like that. Particularly -their- fathers.

"I don't want to lose sight of you, but perhaps you should consider going back a few hours every day. If Blink is willing to ferry you in and out," he suggests. "Like a paid job without pay. But you can do some good there, I think."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna heaved a long, heavy sigh, closing her eyes as she leaned against him again as he listened, burying her face against his shoulder. "They do. And they think I'm less likely to bite their heads off. Which is true, I guess, and ugh.. they're always at each other's throats in this passive aggressive thing. I can't stand the politics." But she was good at it, good at making them feel at ease to speak and actually making something workable out of it. She had done a lot of good in Genosha while she'd lived there. It was one of the reasons that Magneto had picked her as his heir, the people //liked// her. Lorna used soft power to get things done rather than threat of violence her father seemed to exude.

"Of course Clarice would take me there and back if I asked.." She mumbled, lifting her head and looking up into his gaze.

"I just don't want to take advantage of her, I want her to make friends here and learn more about the world beyond Genosha."

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto closed the door, wrapping an arm around Lorna's waist and walking with her to the chairs by the fireplace. "She is a world-class teleporter, I think a couple jumps every day at the same hour are going to be quite easy. Didn't she say she was your appointed bodyguard? Or was that a self-appointed assignment."

There are freshly baked cookies there, too. Looks like the mansion has better cooks lately. Which reminds him. "What have you been up to here? I am... you know I have a fairly large apartment in Manhattan, right?"

Polaris has posed:
Lorna smiled as she let him lead her toward the fireplace and the plush chairs in front of it. She leaned against him, seemingly content to just be next to him and enjoy his company. "Yeah, I know, but she deserves to have something else than schelping me over the world and back. And yes.. technically she is my bodyguard. She can get me out of practically anyplace and move me.. so my father appointed her." She shrugged once and made to settle into one of the chair, tugging at his hand to try to encourage him to sit with her. Small space or not.

"Uhh sitting in my room and avoiding the students, and questions, and therapy? Mostly been on my phone to try to get caught with everything in Genosha. I did a Danger Room session or two to get a work out but that was about it. I try to keep a low profile here."

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto chuckles. "You will have to face the world soon, love," he comments. Not in a hurry. He is happy with having her for himself alone, but he also knows that is not going to be healthy for long.

Maybe procrastinate a few more days. That is fine.

Maybe he should talk to Xavier about it too. Or Jean or Kitty. He is doing all he can to get Lorna out of her bad spot, but a concerted effort by friends and family is usually better. "And keep busy. It is good to have interesting things to do when one is feeling down. Which is why I hope you move with me, if only for a few weeks. For interesting things to do." He winks an eye.

Polaris has posed:
Lorna grumbled as she looked up from her position on the plush chair. Still she didn't outright argue that she had to face the world eventually, she knew she did.. She just didn't want to. She'd reached her breaking point and had nearly come apart. So she'd jealously guarded the small amount of time she had stolen for herself.

Which now included Roberto.

"You want me to move in with you in Manhattan?" She asked, arching a brow and tilting her head. "I think I could be convinced.. Though, are you okay with it? We won't be able to keep anything on the downlow then. Being tied to Magneto's heir in such a public way and all.." She trailed off, looking up at him with tilt of her head.

Sunspot has posed:
Roberto nods. It could be a dangerous move, for both. "We need to approach it... going public, with a tactical eye. You said you don't want to hide, so we can attempt to turn it into a good story. Something that mutants will like and most humans can't hate." He takes her hand and kisses it, "it doesn't have to be true, but it can't be boring. I have a reputation. And you need one too, a good one."

Polaris has posed:
Lorna smiled weakly as he picked up her hand and kissed it. She squeezed his hand back, threading her fingers through his when he was done. "I know, that's why I asked. We have to be careful, we're both public mutants, both tied into different aspects of Mutant Rights. At least most people don't view me as my father.. or as recklessly tyrannical as him." She murmured softly, reaching out with her other hand to try to frame his cheek.

"I see most likely, Genoshans being concerned with me and who I might become serious with. Beyond that they won't worry too much. You're a mutant... downside my father hates you currently.. soo.." She shrugged.

"My worry is for your company, being seen with me of all people. You'll need to make sure that people don't see me anywhere near your business side. I don't mind what story is told.. maybe get your PR team to put something together. A love story of some kind. Spin it with a magazine photoshoot maybe. It'll cut down on the paparazzi. Give you control of the narrative."

Sunspot has posed:
"I don't think being hated by Magneto is going to make me unpopular with most humans or even most mutants, menina," mutters Roberto. Oh, it might get him into other kinds of trouble. But he is quite sure Magneto has hate to spare and half the X-Men are in his list.

"I´ll see what we can do and I will send the general gist for you to review?" He offers. "And since you can't come to Manhattan yet, perhaps I should stay here tonight," adds the young man, leaning forward for another kiss.
