A Stroll in Central Park
Date of Scene: 19 June 2017
Location: Queensland Park
Synopsis: Traci & Atlee meet for the first time. Adorkable ensues.
Cast of Characters: Terra, Rift, Traci 13

Terra (1034) has posed:
It's a nice enough day for Central Park, sunny with just a few clouds scudding across the sky, pushed by a gentle breeze that ruffles the branches and leaves in the trees as it goes past. People are out enjoying a picnic, or a jog, or walking their pets, or just playing some frisbee or touch football.

In the midst of this is a girl who...well, stands out a bit. For one, she's wearing a black and white costume, a fairly brief one in places that is earning her some glances from those passing by. For another, she appears to be following a line of ducks with great curiousity. The ducks have not decided if this bothers them yet, as she may actually have food. Atlee seems fascinated with them, nonetheless! Not a lot of avians where she's from.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua decided not to portal her way to Central Park this time - she flew. She is 'falling' sideways through the sky, arms at her side, moving like a missile as she comes to a stop. The figure visible above Central Park is strange. A female person - but her entire body and clothing is glowing a dull red with bright red lines visible inside her arms and legs with starbursts visible where her heart and head would be; she's holding a picnic basket. She looks around, and then slowly descends towards the ground - but stops as she watches the girl in the monochrome hero costume following... ducks. She stays quietly in midair, observing - then 'falls' sideways so as not to disturb them and land. Once she lands, she stops glowing, and now just looks like a Japanese-descent girl with red hair, red eyes, and red clothes. She watches the strange 'duckling' for now.

Traci 13 has posed:
Traci had heard a few things that were going on in Manhattan that had interested in her through various circles, one being that some rare occult books might be on the market. So she'd come here, excited - only to find out that it was more mundane books, not the real McCoy, so to speak.
Disappointed, she'd decided to not waste the day, and had grabbed lunch, and was now sitting in Central Park enjoying a rather tasty deli sandwhich, when she, too, sees the curious girl in the superheorine type costume, following ducks.
Traci watches the girl, somewhat fasincated - and, by proxy, also notices the even more curious girl who is altering gravity and glowing. Or, not glowing, now, as the case may be.
"Cute ducks," she calls out, to Atlee, as the girl gets closer to her.

Terra (1034) has posed:
The flash of motion as Kitora flies through the air isn't enough to immediately distract Atlee, possibly because she's pretty quiet in her landing. But that AND Traci calling out to her does she turns, blinking a bit, then beaming at them both in a friendly way. "Yes! They are. I haven't seen many ducks before! They make such funny sounds, like they're grumbling and talking to themselves!" She changes course, letting the ducks continue on their way to the nearby lake as she walks over. "Also, hello!" she says to Traci as she gets closer, then se pauses, looking Kitora over with interest. "Wow, red really works for you! That's pretty too...hello to you too!"

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "Thanks," she states. "And yeah - when your entire coloration is red, red is what I wear." She shrugs. "And this is my natural hair color..." she muses. "So - what are you two doing here? I come here for lunch sometimes." She spreads a blanket on the ground and opens her picnic basket. "I always bring a lot - my friends tell me I eat like a speedster." She raises an eyebrow. "Would either of you like a snack?"

Traci 13 has posed:
"Traci," the other asian girl allows, smiling to the other two powered girls, near enough her age. She holds up her sandwhich, shaking her head to Kitora, "Thank you, but I should finish this, first. I'm just here for the day, visiting from Metropolis." She pauses, to consider Kitora, "I've never heard of anyone doing what you do. Pretty interesting," she admits.
Then, to Atlee, "I'm sure you'll see a lot more ducks, if you stick around. And a lot more of everything else, too."

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee nods cheerfully. "Well, it works very nicely for you. I don't think I'd look good in red myself" She nods to Traci, returning her smile, then answers Kitora. "I'd love to, thank you! I'm still getting used to the food here." She hesistates. "...none of it is...raw fish, is it? There were these little rolls in rice that look very pretty, but they were..." She makes a face, then sits down crosslegged. She blinks a bit at Traci curiously. "...what did she do?" she says, looking between the two girls. Obviously she missed something interesting! She nods at Traci's assurance of more duck antics in the future.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "Actually, there is some sushi but it's my favorite so I'm saving it for myself." She smiles. "I think that Traci here is curious about how I can control my personal gravity or those close to me. I'm Kitora by the way." She smiles as she fetches some chicken strips for Atlee. "Here, try these. Chicken strips." She fishes otu the aforementioned sushi rolls and noms.

Traci 13 has posed:
"Yes. She's able, it seems, to completely manipulate gravity outsie of it's normal physical laws of nature. Pretty interesting." She gestures towards Atlee, "What is your name?" Something of amusement touches the girls tone as she watches Atlee with curiousity. Something, certainly, is a bit off about her. She might be foreign, certainly. "I don't believe I've heard of either of you before. At least," she says apologetically to Atlee, "I don't remember seeing your picture anywhere," gesturing to the superhero costume the girl seems to be wearing.

Terra (1034) has posed:
"Thank you!" Atlee takes the chicken curiously, sniffing at it, then taking a bite off the tip. "Mm! This is an avian like the ducks, isn't it? Do they all come this crunchy?" she wonders. She blinks. "Oh! I'm so sorry, I forgot!" She offers the hand not holding the chicken to both girls, arm held straight out. "I am Atlee...er, Terra! I am Terra." She sighs. "...I'm not supposed to tell people my actual name, am I? I'm not sure. Some people do, some people do not. I don't mind, really..."

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua shrugs. "It's a different bird, the chicken - and then the meat was cut into strips, breaded, and deep-fried to make it crispy," she muses. "You're not from around here, are you?" she asks Atlee as hse glances over at Traci. "And I won't tell about Terra's name if you won't?" she asks to Traci. "Not like your name means much to us, honestly."

Traci 13 has posed:
"Pleased to meet you, Terra." Traci shakes her head some, brushing her hair back with her hand, afterwards, "No. But," she amends to Atlee, "That's a decision you have to make. I think some people have loved ones, family, they wish to protect. Their regular life. Others - do not have that worry. There is no right or wrong."
A moments hesitation, as she asks, curiously, "You're new at this, aren't you?"

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee sighs and smiles a bit. "Yes. I am new to this. Well...new to being...here. And the rules here. It is a bit different than where I'm from." she admits." She looks thoughful as she munches on the tender, wolfing it down with signs that perhaps it's been a bit since she actually had something to eat. "I don't have anyone someone could go after like that. Not...nearby, anyway." She looks curious. "Are you both champions? Um, heroines, they call them here, right?" She tilts her head. "I don't know that I have a regular life, like you mean it." she says thoughfully.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua blinks. "I don't know - I just graduated high school. And... I'm on summer break. And... trying to figure out how best to use my powers." She hmmmms softly. "But I always am so hungry..." she hmmmms softly. "I guess it's worth itto be able to fly at crazy speeds."

Traci 13 has posed:
Traci gives a half smile, somewhat lopsided. "Probably. I've never been able to fly, so, I'm not the best judge of that." She looks between the two, after taking a couple bites of her sandwich again, finishing it off finally. "But, hey. You don't seem to be putting on the pounds, so you must need it," she says in friendly manner to Kitura.
Then, she's glancing back to Atlee. Her odd response prompts the question, "What kind of life do you have, then?"

Terra (1034) has posed:
"Flying IS fun...it takes a bit more for me to do it. It's not really flying so much as riding, though." Atlee admits. She makes the chicken tenders disappear with suprising quickness...not really that ladylike with her eating habits. "Summer break?" she asks, looking curious, then looks back to Traci. "My life? Well, I am a heroine. That's my regular life." Atlee says after some thought. "Isn't that the way for most people?"

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua shrugs. "I dunno. I'm in training but... it's not something I can really talk about," she muses as hse finishes her sushi and digs out some potato salad and is shoveling it down. "I'm going for a physics major at NYU."

Traci 13 has posed:
Traci has to laugh, some, at Atlee's rather innocent, or naive viewpoint, but in a good natured, amused way. She shakes her head, slowly, even as she stands up. "No," she assures the girl. "Most people are just - normal people. Going about their lives. Despite how many heroes there are, ... well, if everyone was one, then, there wouldn't be much need to protect anyone," she points out.
She wiggles her fingers, "You two enjoy the rest of the day. But I should get headed back to Metropolis, I'm afraid. It was really cool meeting both of you, though."

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee wrinkles her nose. "What is an Enwhyoo?" At Traci's answers, she looks thoughful. "Well, yes, but I mean, people who are heroines, isn't that their regular life? And people who don't have abilities like that, then their regular life is not as...hero-like. I guess?" She looks slightly disappointed when Traci says she has to leave, but smiles. "Okay! Maybe I'll see you again if you come here often! It's a nice place to rest, even better now that I've met some people to talk to here. Or maybe I'll be able to travel to Metropolis at some point!" Of course, finding Traci IN Metropolis may be difficult, but she'll get to that when she gets there.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "NYU is New York Univesity - it's a college in Manhattan." She smiles softly. "I have full scholarship and everything." She ponders. "I think..." She squints. "Are you from another world?" she finally asks. "You don't sound like you have any idea what's going on around here..."

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee waves to Traci as she heads off, then turns her attention back to the redhead sitting across from her. "Ooooh. That makes sense. A scholarship is because you are very gifted, then?" She leans back on a hand, licking her fingers clean absently, then looks a bit sheepish. "Well. Yes. I mean, I'm from HERE, Earth, just... not, here here. On the surface. I come from a bit underground, actually."

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua raises an eyeborw. "Huh?" she asks, clicking her tongue. "Underground?" She squints. "I didn't know people lived under there... how far down?"

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee leans back on both hands now, stretching a bit. "Oh, well...a bit over..." She pauses to translate in her head. "..two miles? I think that's right." She smiles. "My people don't get out much, really. But that doesn't mean we don't believe we should do something to protect the world above as well! I mean..." She gestures towards the park. "What happens here often affects everyone on the planet, not just those immediately nearby. So...they sent me here to help." she says. Remarkably open about this, really, as if it's not really occuring to her NOT to be open about it.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods. "That is very thoughtful of you... so what can you do?' she asks curiously. "I'm curious." She smiles. "You say you're a hero - and..." She ponders. "I've thought about what I'd go by as a hero myself - I'm thinking 'Rift' is a cool name."

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee looks curious. "Rift...for flying and gravity manipulation?" she says, considering it. "Or is it more than that? I think it seems like a very solid name!" She smiles. "As for what I can do...I believe it's technically called geokinesis." She holds a hand out as there's a faint tremor, as part of the ground nearby rises up into a perfect cube, then floats into the air, spinning lazily. "I can manipulate earth and rock with my mind, basically."

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods. "Neat," she states. "I can control how gravity affects me - so I can stand on a wall. Dance on a ceiling. And I can take stuff withme too - I can suspend you in a stasis field and take you flying with me. I can also open portals to places I know well."

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee leans forward, looking fascinated. "Really, portals? Then Rift really makes sense then! That's a very impressive talent." she says, sounding honestly impressed by it. "I can carry people around on a rock with me when I fly, but that's about the most I can directly use my powers to help out other people. And you said you were being trained to use it? I had to go through a lot before I came up here."

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "Oh, I can also increase or decrease my own weight without flying along - and I dont' feel heavy or light. I mean, I can triple my weight and one of my kicks would land with devastating force." She smiles. "I practice marital arts focused on kicking - for tha't my speciality."

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee grins. "Neat! That makes sense though, being able to interact with gravity like that. Can you adjust your density too, or slow impacts?" She taps her chest. "I don't know a lot of martial arts, but I'm pretty tough. Maybe we could practice sometime! Especially if you know what you're doing." She hmms and admits without shame. "I mostly just throw rocks at people. I'm not really good at actual fighting."

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua hmmmmms. "Throw a rock at me. Don't worry, I'll be fine." She stands up, bracing herself, a faint red aura forming around her though she still looks normal.

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee looks curious, but trusts Kitora knows what she's doing. The cube, that's still been floating in the area up until now, breaks into neat segments, nine in all, then form into loose globes, before one goes spinning at Kitora...underhand softball lob at first. No reason to really risk hurting her either!

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua glows for a moment like shedid when flying as a rainbow sphere surrounds as the mudball simply stops in midair and slowly starts to orbit her as the lightshow ends but hte mudball continues to orbit. "Stasis field," she muses. "I can capture objects in my immediate vicinity - it's tricky to get the iming right - like - bullets are almost impossible to catch." She smiles. "I can just drop it - grab it - or... fire it like a cannon." She points and the mudball fires at high speed, smashing into another and probably crushing them both.

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee laughs in delight, clapping her hands. "You are your own planet!" she says, grinning. She nods in agreement, watching as the rock sends all the others spinning off, before they rotate slowly, stopping in midair, then returning to glomp together in a mass. "I can't do bullets either, not unless I'm ready for them." she admits. "Metal's a bit harder to control quickily, earth and rock are much easier."

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods. "For me it's a velocity thing - they just move fast but if I know I'm going to face a gunner, I can suspuend something in my field that can block it - like a car or a metal sheet." She ponders. "I'm still figuring out how this works..." She ponders. "Hey - are there mutants down where you live?"

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee blinks. "...well, there are quite a few different races and variations at home." she says thoughfully. "I don't know if I'd call them mutants. What does a mutant look like?" she wonders.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "We looks like all sorts... up here there's a special gene called the X-Gene. When it activates during puberty it changes appearance and grants powers. My hair and eyes weren't red before then. They were normal colors - black and brown respectively..."

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee nods, standing up as she pushes herself up. "Well then, I suppose we have something similar. There's a substance that can alter a person's DNA in various ways, not always predictably. Though it's very rare! So it doesn't happen too often." She smiles and confides. "I hope this is not offensive in some way, but I do really like them as they are now, the red is very pretty." She points at her own violet eyes. "Both of us have unusual colors! Well, not my hair." She runs her fingers through her short black hair. "Though I like black too obviously." she adds cheerfully.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "I miss my black hair. But... I glow red too when I use my powers - it's almost eerie," she muses as she 'powers up'. "You can see... inside my arms and legs..." She holds her glowing arm up - and inside her arm you can see a bright red glow. "And... my heart's highlighted too, and my brain. It's weird." She shrugs.

Terra (1034) has posed:
Atlee steps closer, tilting her head curiously. "Does it feel odd?" she wonders, reaching out to gently hold her arms to look, then releases them. "Mine don't have an obvious effect, that I know of. Well, other than the earth shaking sometimes." she says with a smile. "I don't find it eerie though! It's just..." She looks for the right word. "...striking?"
