Lunch And A View Of Orchid Bay
Date of Scene: 03 December 2019
Location: Orchid Bay, Starling
Synopsis: Oliver and Dinah meet for lunch, and bump into Felicity.
Cast of Characters: Felicity Smoak, Green Arrow, Black Canary

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Lunchtime hits and Felicity runs some errands that take her around town. She finds herself in Orchid Bay when she realizes she should probably grab something and eat in the car, given she'll have meetings when she gets back to the office.

"Jenkins you better have your TPS reports ready," she says to herself about the meeting. Not that they actually are named TPS reports. But IT people tend to use nicknames from movies like Office Space.

Felicity climbs out of her car, locking the doors and heading into a sandwich shop. It has large glass windows and a view of the Bay nearby, though Felicity is just planning to get her sandwich to go. She has some time before she has to be back, but she doesn't want to cut it too short.

Green Arrow has posed:
Oliver has been having his own problems to solve back at Queen Consolidated, and then being Arrow by night ..., ah the problems of being a vigilante millionaire. But he finds himself in a conundrum, seeking information on a group that stubbornly refuses to rear their heads up.

He needs help, and allies, it brings him to think of Dinah, it has been a while and perhaps now that some time has gone past they can put the past behind them and focus on the future. Hopefully. So he sends a message a couple days prior to Dinah. "Hey, feel like meeting? Maybe we could catch up."

Knowing Ollie though, there's probably a catch.., there's always one.

He will arrange for them to meet at a certain sandwich shop that has a nice view of Orchid bay and currently sits there now, one leg over the other and waiting, eyes wandering out the window and towards the beautiful bay.

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake has been busy with the final prep of Black Canary's next album and with lending a hand around Gotham when she has been able. The message from Ollie wasn't unexpected or unwelcome. But there is always a moment necessary to take a long slow breath before going to talk to him. Their rocky relationship(s) aside, she still cares for him and is an ally. It took her those few days to adjust her schedule but the trip was as instant as making use of Alpha Flight's portals.

Rolling up on a street bike, the blonde parked on the street and made her way to the shop, dressed in frayed jeans, blue tank top and a gray flannel as a jacket.

Brushing her hair back from her face, Dinah entered and looked for one Oliver Queen. He isn't difficult to spot and she walks toward his table with a wry smile. "Planning to take over the rest of the province, too, Ollie?" her tone playful.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
As Felicity enters the sandwich shop, one of the workers from the place is carrying in a big box perched on his shoulder. Walking alongside Felicity so her view of Oliver, and his of her, is obstructed her entire way to the counter. "I'd just like a To Go order," she tells the person there.

Felicity looks up at the list of sandwiches on the sign behind the counter, though there is also a wait staff for those eating in. "Hrm," she murmurs, drumming her hands softly as she looks the sandwiches over. "I'll take the Cajun grilled chicken breast. And could you toss a couple of extra slices of tomato on the side?" she asks.

The customization is given the go ahead and Felicity smiles gratefully to the man. She gives him her credit card and turns back to glance around the store, when she spots Oliver and Dinah. Well, she spots Oliver mainly, and doesn't focus in on the woman yet, because that's her boss. Actually her boss's boss's boss. Felicity checks her phone quickly, making sure it's still lunch. It is. Whew. She turns back to get her card and debates if she should go over to say hello on her way out.

Green Arrow has posed:
Perhaps Oliver should had dressed down, those jeans and tank top contrasting somewhat with the suit he wears, black pants, white button up shirt but at least he has no tie on. Corporate executive all the way ..., or at least that's what most know him for. Not Dinah though. She knows a bit more about him, or perhaps a lot more. He offers the Canary a smile, a genuine one (yes, definitely a catch on that invitation), and tells her, "What makes you think I haven't already?" the man mirroring the playful tone, "Good to see you, Dinah."

He gestures for her to join him and looks out to the bike parked outside, "Still taking good care of it, I see."

He then picks a menu to go over the choices, then over to the counter.., maybe he can call the attention of a waiter.., and then he spots a familiar blonde. It takes him a moment but then he focuses on her and inclines his head in a greeting. It's neutral enough that it seems entirely up to her whether she will approach or not.

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake stands for the moment, not being so familiar as to drop into a seat without being invited. Her attire has less to do with being comfortable and more to do with maintaining the image of Dinah Drake, lead singer of Black Canary. Though even that image has begun to slowly change many could say. Less punk and more.. well the world will find out when the next album releases in a few weeks.

Dropping into the seat after he asks, Dinah laughs. "That's easy. The province hasn't been renamed to Ollie-Land yet." A cheeky smile is fired toward him with a trailing wink.

Looking out to her bike she nods. "It doesn't get as much use while I'm back east. But yeah. She's been a good ride. Still outruns anything on the road" she declares proudly.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Felicity is just about to make a decision on the boss-greeting, when she sees the inclination of Oliver's head as he glances towards Felicity. She nods her head back to him, and adds a little smile, before turning back away from him to the counter.

"Oh shoot. That was like, a neutral sort of nod. Is that just a, I see you but don't expect to talk to you? Or is that an I see you, and now you know I see you it's probably appropriate for you to come by and say hello?" Felicity asks.

The clerk just stares back at her. "I don't know, ma'am. I just make sandwiches," he tells her. "Cajun chicken on wheat, with extra tomatoes on the side?" he confirms, putting the boxed sandwich into a bag for easier carrying. Felicity takes it. "Thanks," she says, turning back to the rest of the room.

After a moment's hesitation, Felicity walks over in the direction of Oliver's table. When she gets near, and catches his eye, she gives a slight hand wave towards him. Figuring if he wants to let her breeze on past and out the door he can, but if he wishes to speak, he can address her.

Green Arrow has posed:
"Ollie-land ..." Oliver muses on that, lips jerked to the side as if he was actually considering the naming but then he can't help but let a faint chuckle to escape his lips. "I will keep that in mind for when I turn into a super villain, mmm?" There is clear relief on his shoulders when their meeting seems to be going well..., or better than expected at least. "As for outrunning everything.., maybe we will have to test that sometime." perhaps an hint of a challenge on his tone. But he is smiling good naturedly, even if always with that reserved demeanor of his.

While he speaks with Dinah he then casts a look back to the counter, where Felicity was, she is taking her while deciding whether to approach or not and that appears to amuse him. He catches that look when Felicity is strolling by and then speaks, "Good afternoon, ms. Smoak. How do you do?" he doesn't directly ask her to join them just yet, being too polite to do so without Dinah's say-so. "Ms. Smoak works at Queen Consolidated." he explains, "One of our top IT workers."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake arches a brow at Ollie "When? You already have the multinational corporation. You just need the cane-sword and long haired cat to pet and your fall will be complete!" she proclaims with a grin. She looks up as the blonde comes over and waves somewhat shyly. "Well I can see your fan club hasn't gotten smaller since last time..." she remarks with an amused smirk. Then she looks surprised, "Oh. Internal fanclub. Gotcha." She grins and winks at Felicity, "Ms.Smoak. Keep an eye on this one. I'm sure you know already." She stands, though and offers her had, "Dinah Drake. Long time antagonist of one Oliver Queen."

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Felicity walks over, navigating between tables after Oliver addresses her. The bag with her sandwich is held in one hand, while the other one adjusts her slightly horn-rimmed glasses, pushing them back up higher on her nose.

The comment about being one of Queen Consolidated's top IT workers brings a look both flattered and pleased. Flattery gets people everywhere. "Oh, thank you," she says towards him with a bit of a humble look down before Felicity looks back up to Dinah. "Oh, yes, we don't have the hats, but the song's still catchy. O-L-I... I love to work there. V-E-R, R you thinking I'm taking this too far?" she sings softly, getting more hesitant the further she goes as she sings to the Mickey Mouse Club song. But she might as well finish. "Q, U, E, E.... um, N," she says, really trailing out there at the end. "Obviously I just work, not the company choir," she says.

Green Arrow has posed:
"Fanclub...?" Ollie lifts both brows up at Dinah with a mock-insulted look and tells her. "Now..., do behave.." and --

--That's when Felicity begins going over the song and that.., brings him to silence because really, what can he say to that? Certainly not join in the choir that's for sure! He blinks in surprise instead, opening his mouth, closing it. Maybe he should indeed invest in a cane-sword and cat to get some respect!! Because whoever heard of a fan song for the Kingpin, mmm?

But eventually he has to break his silence and he says into the awkward moments that follow (from his part) "That .., isn't really a thing, is it?" he hopes not, but .....!

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake looks amused, listening closely. "You've got good singing voice Ms. Smoak. Certainly a talent for creating lyrics on the fly. A few more rehearsals and you'll be ready for the Queen Consolotated Talent Show." A smile. She's joking but not intending to be mean. Then she looks to Ollie, "If it isn't, it will be. The Oliver Queen fan club will bring in more money than the latest tech craze ever will. Mark my words Mr. Queen." She waggles a finger at him with a wicked smile this time. Now she's stiring the pot and causing trouble.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
There's nothing to top embarrassing yourself in public, like doing it in front of your CEO and his date. Even Felicity's vast body of experience in extracting her foot from her mouth doesn't quite leave her knowing what to say next. "Ah, no, there isn't. Or, not that I know of. If there was I'd... never mind. Um, sorry, that was just... probably low blood sugar. That will be my excuse," she says.

Felicity finally takes a good look at Dinah and does a small double take. "You're Dinah Drake!" she says in surprise. "But, of course, you would know that already. Being, you're you. And, Oliver probably knows that too. I mean, Mr. Queen knows," she says.

Felicity clears her throat. "Sorry, I should let you two eat in peace," she says, motioning towards the door, and outside it, her car that can race her away from the site of her shame. "Low blood sugar," she repeats, so hopefully that gets included to her boss when he's sent to fire her so he does it gently.

Green Arrow has posed:
"Mr. Queen? Now that's a long time since you had shown me that kind of respect, Dinah. I am quite pleased." But Ollie's tone seems mostly joking as well, a faint smile breaking into his more usual stoic expression. And perhaps hoping this fan club idea dies..., an horrible death. Can arrows take care of fan clubs?

Though he also takes that moment to compose himself into a more proper posture, considering on what to say next to Felicity. It's not often that he has found himself speechless but there it is. He focuses on her words and then furrows a brow. "Low blood sugar? Well.." he looks at Dinah and suggests, ".. would you mind one more to have lunch with us?" then back to Felicity. "I wouldn't have you fainting afterall, Felicity." now he mostly seems amused.

"And it's Oliver, not Mr. Queen, please."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake laughs and drops into a chair with a nod, "That's right, Mr. Queen, I'm all aout respect." A snicker as she lightly kicks a chair out for Felicity as well, "Don't mind at all. And yep, blondie, you're right. Dinah Drake. Or just one more of Oliver Queen's friends hanging around trying to spend his money for him. Or so the media likes to say I guess?" She looks to Ollie "What -does- the media say these days? I've been too busy with the new album and tour plans to keep up on the gossip for the rich ad famous."

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Unwanted fan clubs are bad. And arrows will take care of them. Though, that's murder. And murder is bad too. Perhaps a sternly worded memo, should one form.

Felicity realizes her rambling excuse has now become reason for her to stay. "Oh. Ah, yes, thank you," she says, taking the offered seat. She sits there for a second and then pulls her wrapped sandwich out, beginning to unwrap it. "Thank you," she tells them, and determined to stay quiet and not interrupt their meal. For a change.

Green Arrow has posed:
"The media likes to say a lot of things..." Ollie murmurs, none-too-happy. Pesky reporters digging into his personal life. But that's not for now so he simply smiles more openly when the blonde joins their table. "Me and Dinah have been friends for a long time. We are catching up." he explains to the newcomer to their table before finally catching sight of a waiter. He orders his own grilled cheese sandwich and waits for Dinah to put in her own order before continuing to speak.

"Though I am mostly out of the limelight now. There is apparently some new rather rich millionaire that caught the press' attention. They have been dying to get a shot of them but so far they haven't found who this mysterious person is. It seems whoever this is found Starling to be a good place for some vacations." He can't help but to grit his teeth. Some innuendo perhaps for those in the know? To others he may just look vain to not be the journal's headlines. "But anyway, how is your album going? Ready to launch?"

Then to Felicity. "Have you heard her songs? She can really reach those high notes." really high!

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake nods."Oh yes. They love to take pictures of Ollie when he's having lunch with two blondes like this." She's just tormenting him now. Because she can. It may be at Felicity's partial expense but it's probably nothing a few back stage passes can't smooth over later. Right? She then nods. "We've known each other since? A while anyway." Se waves the thought away. Too complicate to explore it further. "A new millionaire? And Oliver Queen hasn't bought out his company yet? That IS shocking!" she jokes but the undercurrent is noted for later. "The album's going well. We're a few weeks from release. Just a little final polish on some of the tracks to go." Then an eye roll, "you know? I've been considering a change of styles. No more death metal. I was thinking of switching to Gospel. Y'know. Nice four part harmonies. Let the vocals really shine.." but is she really joking?

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Felicity Smoak sticks to her plan to stay silent. At least at first. The Cajun chicken sandwich is unwrapped, and Felicity picks up one of the tomatoes they put on the side. She is about to comment on how she doesn't like them on sandwiches. But enjoys eating them normally, before her brain clicks in to remind her of the not speaking part.

She munches on the tomato in silence, listening to the tales of the paparazzi's latest pursuits. She doesn't really listen to TMZ or their competition, so whatever they say about the matter is information to Felicity.

But finally she's confronted with an actual question directed her way. "I have, yes. Very nice, I have a few friends who are into your group in particular," Felicity says. The blond tilts her head a little, blue eyes peering over through the glasses. "Really? she asks, apparently taking Dinah at face value on it. "It would really showcase your voice," she agrees.

Green Arrow has posed:
"Considering the lovely company the only comfort is that their pictures would focus more on you both than on me." Ah, yes. Ollie getting those playboy genes working. A thing of the past perhaps, but there are just some things that can't be helped. Or maybe he's joining into their more playful mood. Noone likes broody Ollie afterall.

"But no, not even I have found out who this mysterious person is. And you know how I am when I -really- want to find someone." yes, he dons his stalker Green Arrow persona... "Just figured out that they are asian."

He then grins a bit at Felicity. "I am hoping to take advantage of Dinah's presence here in Starling to have her perform, perhaps at Queen Consolidated's christmas party?" he suggests, looking back to Dinah. Those last words make him arch his brow though, certainly not taking her at face value. "Nice joke, Dinah. I know you have the voice but no way you are doing that shift." or is she? Some doubt creeps in. Damn it, he could never read Dinah well.

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake shakes her head, "No. Not really." about the gospel music. "but I've considered a blues album. Maybe a throwback to Ratpack jazz. Something to change up the rock here and there y'know." She nods to Ollie. "well that's interesting... I'm sure the right people will keep it under control, y'know?" Then her phone rings. She looks at it and sighs, "I have to take this. It's the record exec." stands up, "Go ahead without me ok?" To Felicity she smiles, "It was nice to meet you. I'll get you some tickets to the tour." Then to Ollie she finger waggles, "Seeya later Daddy Warbucks. I'll text you when I'm free ok?" and with that she's out the door to take the call.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Felicity's eyebrows go up slightly. "Oh, cameras don't love me I'm afraid. Best if I stay on the other side of the lens," she says of the notion any pictures would focus on, or even care about, her. Felicity smiles though as the Christmas party is brought up. "If so that would really have the employees a-buzzing," she says.

Dinah's offer of the tickets gets a grateful look from Felicity. "Oh, thank you, that would be so nice," she says, then falls silent as the young woman departs. Once Dinah is gone and out the door, Felicity says, "Apologies if I intruded on your lunch date, Mr. Que- I mean, Oliver. I was just running some errands during lunch and stopped to grab a sandwich," she tells him. "Speaking of meals, I wanted to thank you for the other day, when you took me out for dinner. I mean, not, took me out took me out. But, well, dinner. The burger. It was really nice of you."

Green Arrow has posed:
"Come by the house sometime. We can continue our talk." Ollie even says it in a casual enough manner but .... Dinah goes to Oliver's place?! What's this?! Maybe the rumors of them not being together anymore weren't true. Or is it a rehash?! He smiles at the Canary when she makes her leave and then his attention is fully on Felicity. The smile he gives her is a knowing one, specifically when she mentions prefering to be behind the camera. He remembers her hobby for sure! "I am still waiting on those photos."

"You didn't intrude." The sandwich arrives at last and he digs into it, "In fact I am glad you did. It's always .., difficult to meet with Dinah. And she seems to like you." her squints his eyes but there's no malice in them, "Perhaps it was the fan song."

"I enjoyed it as well, Felicity. Mac's burgers are great, aren't they?" He grins at the memory of that dinner, maybe more at the company than exactly at the food.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Felicity finishes off the tomatoes on the side, eating slowly, conscious of who it is she's eating in front of. And while she doesn't pay attention to TMZ, she does hear her coworkers around the water cooler. Felicity tries to not let on she hadn't been aware he wasn't together with the lead singer any more.

"Yes, I'll bring them in. I can schedule a time on your calendar if you like?" she offers. Not realizing just how full his calendar probably is. Workouts with John Diggle. 'Meetings' that occupy him off doing things that are Green, and Arrowy.

Felicity smiles as Oliver replies about the burgers. "They really are. I'm going to have make a point of going back over there," she tells him. "SO how is it that you found that place in the first place?"

Green Arrow has posed:
Ollie continues his slow eating of the sandwich, not exactly in an hurry to go anywhere. He had scheduled this hour to meet with Dinah but then ..., schedules never go exactly to plan. Still he smiles, resting his elbows on the table, eyes not budging from Felicity. "Yes, let's try that. I am coming into some busy days but we will make something work I am sure." or at least he hopes to. But this new drug menage his making him work extra-hours.

But then the question about Mac. He pauses, not really something he had thought on for a while now ..., of times long past. Simpler ones. But in some way also painful, "With Laurel." Laurel Lance, yes, she was quite the news back then with Oliver, before he disappeared in that island.

"Years ago, I was just a kid really. We both were." He perhaps thinks he should had lied now, not talking about Laurel but .., he really doesn't want to lie to Felicity for some reason. "Drunk, because of course I was back then, middle of the night, stumbling about in the street near it." he shrugs because what could he do? "Mac took us out of the rain and gave us a good burger to wake us up. He knew who I was but he didn't care. I liked that in him so...."

Felicity Smoak has posed:
The blond woman gives a soft smile as Oliver gives her the go ahead to make time on his schedule. "I'll do that," she agrees, making a mental note to get to it first thing.

Felicity listens quietly then, her sandwich untouched as she is focused on Oliver. Many people around the office still assume he's the boozing playboy. Felicity's experiences with him so far have made her question that. Hearing his tone as he talks about the past, perhaps she is getting some sense of how he views that time in his life as something less than positive.

When he's reached the end of the tale, Felicity gives Oliver Queen a small nod. "Sounds look a good guy. I mean, he seemed that way too, meeting him," she tells Oliver. Her thoughts aren't on Mac though, but on the new perspective of her boss that she just got.

Green Arrow has posed:
"He grunts a lot too. I think he communicates through those." Ollie muses on that, perhaps he will need to learn the language. But he's mostly smiling when he says that, bringing a bit of a more positive note to the tale, one that clearly made him remember things that he can let stay buried. But that's never easy with Oliver Queen. Everyone has their regrets, or their secrets. "But so, he is open during the night, or at least to later hours, so over the years I have gone by. A lot less drunk, of course." he refrains to mention other girlfriends that he undoubtedly brought to the place. He is learning. "John loves it." that makes him grin a bit.

"It's one of those good things from my past or well..., bittersweet perhaps. It's funny how good things can often come out of less good ones."

But now he stops talking, he is talking too much, opening himself too much as well so he busies himself with his sandwich. Chew chew chew.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Felicity continues to ignore her sandwich while she listens to Oliver continue about his past. "Well, it means more now, that chose that place to take me to," she says. "Not that, you were taking me out, just... that is, it's really getting late and I should get back for meetings," says the woman who is on her lunch hour.

"Thank you for inviting me to your table, Mr- ah, Oliver," she says, giving him a soft smile and pushing her glasses back up as they slide a bit down her nose. "I'll just finish this in the car," she says, rising and wrapping her sandwich back up. She waves goodbye and heads out, but glancing back once as she heads out the door.
