Date of Scene: 05 December 2019
Location: Lvl. 2 (Promenade, Mackenzie King Stn.)
Synopsis: Kara, Chris, and the the H'lvenite kids before the Age of Darkness
Cast of Characters: Darkhawk, Supergirl

Darkhawk has posed:
Chris Powell loved visiting Mackenzie King Station. He could afford to be himself, while also being able to transform into Darkhawk, at any moment. Everyone up there was either directly connected to Alpha Flight, an alien, or so far removed, that really, there was no chance of them knowing who he was. He found it to be liberating in a way.

The Promenade was home to many shops, some human, a lot of them alien, which added to the fun. He was currently standing in the queue for some kind of Xandarian sweet shop. There were well, objects, on sticks, but they were all supposed to be good. He wasn't too sure what they were made of, but they were cleared for humans to consume, as well as Kryptonians for that matter.

There were others in the queue, some human, some not, as well as people going to and fro on the promenade, exploring the station just like he was.

Supergirl has posed:
Chris wasn't alone today. Only for the moment.

Kara Danvers came out of one of the shops, carrying a small bag in her left hand. She paused a moment to get her bearings then made a beeling for the Xandarian confections line. She began to walk along the line, reaching up to adjust her glasses as she did. "Ah! There you are!"

She stepped into line beside Chris, giving him a happy smile. Her brown wig was in place, hiding her blonde hair. "I got us both official station shirts. Sorry I got distracted." She'd told him to head for the line five minutes ago then spotted something else in the shop and delayed her checkout.

"Figured out what you want yet?"

Darkhawk has posed:
Chris beamed at the sight of Kara, and waved her over, "over here" he called out, adding to it, not that she needed the help in spotting him. She could probably pick him out by heartbeat alone, or any number of Kryptonian tricks she had up her sleeve. He gave her right arm a quick touch, and offered a bright smile, "it's okay... ooh, station shirts? Cool. I've been meaning to get one."

Meanwhile a panicked H'lvenite girl cried out "Ch'se! Wait up! Stop it! I'm gonna tell mommy!" as she ran through the halls. One of the human security officers cleared his throat and said, "There's no running on the promenade young lady." The cute little girl, probably about 6 years-old, and looking very much like an anthropomorphic squirrel or chipmunk, nodded her head up and down, "sorry sir." And as the man turned, heading down the corridor, she immediately began running once again, calling out "Ch'se! Ch'se! Where are you Ch'se!"

A little ways up the station, a different H'lvenite, this time a boy, who held a human doll in his left hand, it looked like a Barbie in a Alpha Flight uniform, probably bought from one of the station's shops. The boy, probably around 8 years old, was looking behind him as he ran, which meant he ran right into the queue, bumping up against Chris and Kara, just as Chris said, "I don't know, but maybe the red and blue one. I kind of like the colours." The one he referenced even had a yellow swirl in it.

Supergirl has posed:
"Do you mean this one?" Kara asked with a wide smile like she had done the most unexpected thing ever. She pulled out the exact shirt he had pointed out, the one he was describing. It wasn't like it would be a huge surprise. He had said he liked that one. Yet, she was acting as though she did the greatest thing since deciding bread should be sliced /before/ bagging it.

Which is when she got bumped into by someone and promptly dropped the shirt yet somehow managed to snatch it out of midair before it hit the ground even as she brought her other hand over to help steady whoever ran into her. It wasn't like she actually budged. She probably should've. Would've been better cover but it had been a surprise.

She looked down at the boy. "You alright?"

Darkhawk has posed:
"Do I ever" Chris replied with equal enthusiasm. It was the simple pleasures that made life worth living. "It's just like I wanted, you even got it in red. But I thought the girl in the store said it didn't come in red? Kara, you're the greatest!"

The boy didn't weigh much, he was young, and he his species never grew too big, or heavy, even in adulthood. He barely budged Chris. It was more like a remote control car smacking into his shin. It did make Chris jump up and wince, "ow," as he was human, and even a little guy like Ch'se could do enough to make his shin hurt a little. Mostly it was in surprise.

Ch'se looked about, more worried about something, or someone else, then said, "I'm fine," sounding very much a spoiled brat, before he shifted to the right and ran through the legs of the next guy over, which was tall and thin, with a wide arch.

The little girl could be heard now, calling out, "Ch'se, if you don't quit it, I'm, I'm, oohm, I hate you, you big meanie!"

Supergirl has posed:
"Well, okay then," Kara murmured as the boy took off. She shook her head then look at Chris. "Well, I asked her to double check and it turned out that they just got a new shipment. Which had included red and she didn't realize that was a new col--" Her voice faded as she turned her head to look at the little girl. "Meanie?"

She turned her head to follow the passage of the boy. Then looked at the doll he was carrying. "I get the feeling he stole his sister's doll. Should we do something or let them figure it out?" After all, she and Alex had quite a few hiccups while growing up yet it all worked out in the end. Sometimes a hero wasn't really needed.

Darkhawk has posed:
"That's always a tough one. We're kind of overkill. Plus, adults, well, you know, young adults, almost not teenagers anymore, and kids, who we don't know." As he was talking, the girl plopped herself down on the ledge near a fountain and began to sob quietly to herself. Even Chris could hear that, and had a direct line of sight as well. "Hmm, do you know anything about that species? Because I kind of want to help. I just don't want to learn their parents are 40 feet tall with 300 teeth."

Supergirl has posed:
"Darn it." Such language! Kara sighed and gave a nod to Chris. "I don't think the adults are much bigger than those two. Not sure on teeth count. I think they are H'lvenite. Been a long time since I saw one. Back when I was on Krypton."

She frowned and suddenly was walking out of line, heading for the little girl. It was up to Chris if he was following or staying in the line. Moving to the girl's side, she spoke softly. "Are you alright?"

Darkhawk has posed:
Chris began walking as Kara did, perhaps even a step earlier, but after making his hesitations known, the sight of the girl in that state overruled any concern he had otherwise. It was someone vulnerable and in need. He was going to act and to hell with the consequences.

The little girl was sobbing and sniffling, as she struggled to hold back the tears. Her older brother was nowhere to be seen.

Chris took a knee, so that he could look her in the eye. He also kept enough of a distance so not to frighten her. "Hey there, my name's Chris, and this is Kara. What's your name?"

The little looked look up at them, still saddened, but warming a little as she regard them with the cutest little eyes. "My brother Ch'se took my human doll and ran out of the room, even though we're not s'posed to. Mommy said to stay put, and for him to watch over me. But he didn't. And now," looking around, "and now, I don't know how to get back." And she began to wail again.

Supergirl has posed:
"It will all be alright, I promise," Kara said as she sat down next to the little girl. "We can help you. At least with the getting home part. Unfortunately, brothers are sometimes like that. Or so I've heard," she added with a smile.

"I had a sister. But she would sometimes take my things or I would take hers. Then we would get in trouble. In the end, we'd always make up though."

Darkhawk has posed:
The little girl sat and listened to Kara, nodding her head along, feeling safe speaking to the funny looking aliens, no fur, no tail, so big, and such small teeth. They looked so weird to her. "Mommy told me I'm not s'posed to talk to strangers." She paused, looking like she was deep in concentration, almost as if she were trying to move a penny with her mind, but then loosened up to announce, proudly, "my name's G'get."

Chris let Kara take the lead, not wanting to overload the little girl, or worse, frighten her. During a lull, he said, "I have two younger brothers, Jonathan and Jason. They fight all the time. Especially over the TV remote. But they always make up in the end."

The little nods along, her feet dangling on the edge of the fountain's stone base, only to ask, "what's a teevee?"

Supergirl has posed:
"It's a form of entertainment on Earth. Not particulary a great one because it has lots of options but most everything that is on isn't worth watching," Kara says with a little laugh.

"You're Mommy is right unless those strangers are people like security personnel or law enforcement officers or heroes." She leaned down a bit as though imparting a secret. "Chris and I are actually heroes." Then she sat up. "And we should get with security so we can get you home." She offered her hand to the little girl.

Darkhawk has posed:
Chris thought briefly about becoming Darkhawk, but with the state she was in, his superhero appearance would probably do more harm than good. Darkhawk was at best, a little unsettling, with the dark visage, deep voice modular, and the glowing red visor.

"There are some good things on TV. I bet your suite has one. Once we get you home, maybe you should try and watch that?" And he immediately thought sorry for what he had just done. This poor girl knew nothing of TV. Yeah, her parents were definitely going to hunt him down and make him suffer.

At least there was something he could show. Reaching into his shirt, he pulled out identification that showed he was a member of Alpha Flight, technically Gamma Flight, but who's counting. The girl took Kara's hand, and then, very much the chipmunk like, scurried up her body, so that she was being held by the girl. She then asked, "K'ra, what's a D'rkhunk?"

Supergirl has posed:
Kara manages to hide her surprise as she suddenly has an arm full of squirrel like girl. She settles the girl on her hip as seemed natural and motioned toward the security office not far away then headed that direction.

"Dark Hunk is something that will give Chris a big head," Kara answered with a giggle. "Darkhawk is his codename when he's in his hero outfit. It's this fancy suit with a mask. Kind of scary though for some people, when they first see it."
