Date of Scene: 09 December 2019
Location: Private Lounge for Charter Flight Guests - Something something California Airport.
Synopsis: In a VIP lounge, Magneto makes an offer Nick can't refuse.
Cast of Characters: Magneto, Phantasm (Drago)

Magneto has posed:
The King of Genosha had various embassies set up in the United States, California, being a coastal state was home to one of those embassies. He wanted to be sure mutants had a place to go and move to the island nation.

After such a visit to the Genoshan embassy, Magneto was headed back to his country. The private airport had a lounge for VIPs, and while the mere fact that this was an airport for charter flights separated the clientele from the normal riff raff, the lounge separated it even more. The elite of the elite were invited here. So, seated in plush leather seats, Erik Lensherr sat, hand to his chin as he awaited his plane to be ready. His cadre of handlers was elsewhere in the lounge. The lounge of course had been playing the traditional medley of Christmas music, to which the mutant King had commented: "Of course it's Christmas music..." He commended, rolling his eyes.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick's not exactly sure who made the final connection that landed them into the VIP lounge area, nor was he going to question it. Due to the secretive nature of the band theme with the added insistance of Lead Songstress, Kip, the chartered flight was a bit necessary. The added privacy of the lounge did give the added benefit that the entire band could technically hang around each other without some tabloid enthusiast starting to speculate on what Nick Drago was doing with the other musicians. And yet, being the latecomer and the way the seats were laid out, Nick still ended up looking for a seat away from the band. Oh well.

Taking advantage of the privacy, Nick has removed the knit cap, allowing for some of his long hair to rest in front of his eyes while the majority of the hair falls down the back of his shirt. In his hand, a rather worn copy of the collected works of Edgar Allen Poe. Time to pick another book? Perhaps, but being he is touring the country to perform in a raven mask, one could argue that it's maintaining the proper mindset. The others have seated, but Nick is still glancing around for an ideal place to read.

Magneto has posed:
Erik payed little attention to the others in the lounge, he wasn't opposed to anyone approaching him. But he wasn't searching others to talk to.

By chance, he peered on the other side of his chair, seeing a Poe book. The silver haired mutant gave a chuckle. "At least people still read the classics." He comments, giving Nick a glance after making the note.

Outside, the darkness provided quite the show of moving twinkling lights, either from the planes, or the ground crew. It was at least mesmerizing in a calming way.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
As Another rendition of 'There's no place like home for the Holidays' finishes up, The sound of Adam Sandler's voice cues up, leading into 'The Chanuka song'.

Hearing a voice comment in his general direction, Nick glances over to Magneto, giving a slight, albeit tired smile in greeting as he forgets his quest for a seat for the moment, "One of my favorites," He admits, "Passes the time."

Magneto has posed:
Erik himself smiled a little as Nick answered his comments. Though Adam Sandler's Chanukah Song got him to give another small chuckle. It was not traditional, but it was something at least. "Indeed it does. Do you have a favorite?" He asks, knowing his favorite.

He motions to a seat across from him, should the younger man wish to have a seat.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
As Magneto gestures to the seat, Nick glances to it and sits down, setting the book upon his lap, fingers holding on to it protectively. It's an old book, likely purchased from a library rummage sale decades ago. "In this one, while the poems are great, I'm a bit partial to the detective stories. 'The Purloined Letter' for one."

Nick nods to Magneto, "What is yours?"

Magneto has posed:
Magneto's blue eyes watch the younger man for a moment as he sits, listening to his favorite story. "I actually am a fan of The Fall of the House of Usher." He adds in. "Many people dismiss him with being too dark. But I feel he just had a touch of the macabre, in a dark time in history."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick nods, "The thing is he did have variety in his works. Not all of his pieces were dark. His more notable ones might have been but without him, some of the works of other authors may have turned out a bit differently. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, for instance."

As the Sandler song fades away, a newer song starts to play in, not a remake of a pre-existing song but the gentle sound of piano playing and a familiar voice starting to sing:

"The tree was a sight, dressed in its strings of light
The tinsel added to the visual delight,
Ribbons of red, yellow, and green,
It was the grandest tree you've ever seen.
Loaded with sweets, a cart near the tree,
just for guests who pass through the lobby..."

Magneto has posed:
Magneto gives a hearty nod to the younger man. "Indeed." Hes seen the dark, so it is the thing he sees the easiest.

The song changes, and Magneto recognizes the voice on that recording. Looking to Nick, he simply points to the ceiling before he comments. "At least this one is not as saccharine as some of the others." He offers, before he rests his arms on the chair.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
As Magneto points to the ceiling, Nick momentarily glances up, already getting a feeling for what he's referring to. The smile built on their earlier discussion topic fades a bit. "They tend not to be in the first verse..."

We agreed on that holy night,
While she worked, I stayed out of sight
I hid away in a hotel nook,
reading tales from an old borrowed book.

On her breaks she would come on down,
And we'd look at the mini town.
Tiny figures on a white backdrop
With cheerful music that just won?t stop.
There were no gifts or stockings
but It was heaven for me
living on her keepers salary.

Magneto has posed:
Magneto listens to the lyrics, once the song has ended, he gives a bit of a grimace. But the reaction was positive for the most part.

"Well, as far as Christmas songs go, it has a message without it being over the top." Flashbacks to Christmas Shoes just make him slightly sick.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick is quiet for the rest of the song, glancing over towards the others in his travel group momentarily before looking to his book. But, there is no shame to the look. Yes. That's right. He released a Christmas song. Christmas songs are not everyone's cup of tea.

Pale eyes look up as Magneto gives his critique, which concerning the source, is not scathing. "I'm actually a bit more surprised that of all the songs on the album, that one was the one that made the rotation here."

Magneto has posed:
"Oh? What is on the rest of the album?" He asks, expecting to hear something along the lines of a syrupy sweet song or the like.

Magneto keeps looking at Nick, gesturing to the book. "And is that the book?" He cannot help but question about that. "I assume this is the reason for your being here." He gathers.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"It's a collaboration project amongst several musicians who happened to be at Shaw Studios the weeks we were making it." Nick explains, "The proceeds from the album and singles sales will be going to local New York shelters."

He glances down to the book as Magneto gestures to it. "Oh no." He replies, shaking his head, "The one mom gave me that Christmas was Dickens. 'A Christmas Carol'". His hand pats on the book on his lap, "I got this one on my tenth."

Magneto has posed:
Magneto raises his brow. "Oh? That seems like a good cause." He comments, smiling.

"Ahh, Dickens. Another great classic. Again, very nice to see people still reading them." The monarch who's reputation precedes him seems to be defying that reputation at least. "Plenty of people out there will benefit from the donations." He says, pleasantly happy at the notion. "Though I would be remiss if I did not encourage you to add in mutant shelters to that list."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Understandable." Nick acknowledges of Magneto's concern, "While I don't know the full list of shelters off the top of my head, I do know the decision process of which shelters to focus on was based more off of need than the types of people being helped." He pauses, "I do think New Hope is one of the ones on the list. And if anyone's ever met Lucius, they can pretty much tell he's an equal opportunity type of guy."

Magneto has posed:
Magneto simply gives a nod to the young musician. "Good thing there, and understandable. I must always be on the side of mutants." One of Magneto's handlers approaches the two. "Excuse me sir, we are ready to board." Magneto looks up at the young man, one who seems to have quills growing instead of hair. "Thank you, Howard." The king offers, quickly getting a card from Howard, standing up and approaching Nick. "It was a pleasure, please send me the final sales, and I will match it." Erik extends the card, and offers his own hand.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick's eyes widen at the offer, standing up as well before taking the offered card and shifting it over to the book holding hand, thumb holding it tight against the cover before the free hand reaches over to accept the offered hand to give a firm shake, "Thank you! I'll see if I can get a copy of the list of shelters to you at the time as well. Safe travels."
