Tinyplot: The Panacea Project

Melwyn Lumielsdottir has posed:
Melwyn is on one of the many planets in the Kree Empire, one of the less populated ones at that. She is kneeling over a sick pink skin female, her hands hovering above her. A glowing white light emanates from her hands and the female Kree begins to look better almost immediately. It takes all of the elf's concentration to do this and she will not notice anyone else arriving.

Mon-El has posed:
Well whether Mel notices someone else arriving or not, might depend on how they arrive. Regardless of whether she is aware of it or not, the woman she is healing does widen her eyes a little bit and lift them skyward as the sound of ship engines roars overhead. It is making a landing, so it is quite close to the ground. But its design isn't one that is familiar or typical of any particular civilization or other.

Given this somewhat backwater or low population place, perhaps it seems unusual for someone to just show up right here, right now. Could it be a coincidence?

Melwyn Lumielsdottir has posed:
Melwyn continues to heal even as she hears the ship landing. The woman being healed is clearly improving as the white light grows brighter. Melwyn's energy levels begin to lower and her concentration deepens to near trance levels.

Mon-El has posed:
The sound comes closer and closer, until the vessel lands a short distance away, assuming there is a safe landing spot nearby for a moderately-sized craft.

By the time Mel has finished healing the woman, quite a few of the other villagers have gathered to see what was going on or who had decided to show up. It definitely didn't look like the government, and they didn't usually get this many visitors at once.

Melwyn Lumielsdottir has posed:
Melwyn falls backwards a bit as she finishes healing the woman, who is clearly doing much better. Her sickness gone, she doesn't quite know how to thank the elf, and can do little else but smile and give her verbal gratitude. Melwyn is feeling weak but she does manage to turn around and watch the ship land.

Mon-El has posed:
A single individual exits the airlock moments later, it appears to be a young dark-haired man. Lar turns toward the light elf and the gathered Kree villagers, scrutinizing each one of them carefully without a word. At least, it looks like him outwardly anyway. He's holding what looks like some kind of syringe gun in his hand, though it is not pointed at anyone--yet.

Melwyn Lumielsdottir has posed:
Melwyn does not seem afraid of Lar and his gun. She gets her berrings straight and stands slowly, "Please do not harm anyone here. These people are sick and.. are in need of assistance." Her voice is weak but there is clearly conviction.

Mon-El has posed:
When Mel addresses him, Lar turns slowly toward her. His expression seems oddly vacant. "What makes you think I plan to harm anyone?" he questions, his voice even. "Sick, you say? Perhaps there's something I could do to remedy that." He scans those gathered again. "Which one needs it most?"

Melwyn Lumielsdottir has posed:
Melwyn looks at Lar's gun, "I.. see.. then that is not a..?" She looks around, "Say no more." The elf gestures to the village, "Almost everyone here is sick. I have been healing them one by one for days but.. I must rest between healings."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar nods. "I see. It must be truly exhausting." he answers, although there is neither empathy nor sarcasm in his voice. "Maybe you should rest. I think I have a solution to your problem." But there is definitely something off about him. The villagers seem to feel it too.

Melwyn Lumielsdottir has posed:
Melwyn glances around and tries to smile at the villagers, "I.. see..." She addresses the crowd, "This.. one will aid me in.. healing you." She looks at Lar again, "Do you... have magic? Or is.." She looks at the gun, "..that a healing.. device?"

Mon-El has posed:
The villagers don't look very confident despite Mel's attempts to smile. Does she really trust that easily? They don't know him!

Lar nods at her question. "You could say that." A pause. "All right if this bothers you, I won't use it." He pulls a vial out of the gun's 'magazine' and puts the rest of it away for now. "So who wants to go first?"

Melwyn Lumielsdottir has posed:
Melwyn weakly smiles again, "I.. do not believe that he means us harm and.. I must rest friends. Please.. please trust him." Melwyn is indeed a bit naive, however she has no real reason to believe that Lar is here to harm them. One of the villagers steps forward and there is soon a line of people waiting for treatment.

Mon-El has posed:
Many of the villagers still seem kinda skeptical, but they do trust Melwyn, since she has already helped them, and if she says she thinks he doesn't mean any harm, then perhaps she's right.

The individual who came forward first probably had someone close to him made well by the light elf, so he doesn't have a problem trusting her judgment!

Lar walks up to him and pushes the needle end of the vial into his arm, and there is a hissing sound as the contents of the thing enter the man's body. But what happens to him definitely doesn't look right at all. Immediately, his skins seems to turn a silvery-grey color at the injection site, and it spreads rapidly up his arm. His eyes widen and he begins to scream in pain.

The Daxamite watches all of this calmly. "Don't worry. Just a side effect. It will pass." he says, his face still unreadable.

Melwyn Lumielsdottir has posed:
Melwyn frowns.. this is not at all like the healing she had given them, "What..? What is happening? Are you certain that this treatment is.. safe?"

Mon-El has posed:
"Of course it is safe. You said it yourself, I don't mean any harm. Only to help you rid this village of whatever disease may be plaguing it." Lar replies, even as the man continues to scream and the grey color spreads. But the screaming stops once the odd coloration covers his entire body. Yet a few seconds more though, and it fades again, appearing to return him to normal--and disease-free.

Lar walks around the man once, examining the result, and nods. "Perfect."

Melwyn Lumielsdottir has posed:
Melwyn watches and nods. When the man is clearly healed she says, "Why.. does it hurt them if it heals them?" She is genuinely confused. The others look a bit hesitant, but upon seeing their fellow cured, they realize that it's either a bit of pain or possible death.

Mon-El has posed:
"Sometimes things have to get a little worse for a little while before they can get better." Lar replies vaguely, appearing satisfied with the result. Although the man seems to be cured, he doesn't quite look himself. His demeanor is...blank and devoid of emotion just like Lar's.

"Still, I'm going to have to run a few more tests." he continues. He starts back toward the ship, the 'cured' man following him obediently.
