P3....2....1....rock!
Date of Scene: 12 December 2019
Location: P3, Avalon Heights
Synopsis: Piper scouts acts for P3, books one, and gets an agent's card for more acts
Cast of Characters: Piper Halliwell, Phantasm (Drago)

Piper Halliwell has posed:
P3's closed for the day (though given it's a nightclub that's not a shocker), Piper's got a broom in hands. Today she's got a list on the bar, a list of acts on the bar, a list of acts she's booked. There's a lot of spaces on it. Piper's got hair untied, with her usual clothes onon, as she's sweeping from the previous night's customers. She pauses sweeping and leans the broom against the bar. Instead Piper's got a cloth in hand and is wiping down the bar.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Well, one thing that is good about Nick's impromptu joining of Five Times Novel is that the group is full of a bunch of secretive night owls. Night time practices, night time performances, and with the occasional off night, that allows for Nick to pick up additional acts far enough away from their performace venues to establish some plausible deniability should people start to suggest he might be the fill in musician. And what do you know, he got a call from his booking agent that there was someone wanting to talk to him regarding one of the free nights.
So here he is, in his dressed down glory, cap hiding his longish hair and clothing not much to speak of. Stopping just inside the doorway, pale eyes glance around the venue. Hmm. Not bad.

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper glances up and nods. "Hey, what can I get you?" she asks with a look to Nick. She's dealt with booking agents, one in particularr and figures this is the client she was informed about. Setting the cloth down, Piper fixes Nick with a look and warmth in her eyes, as Piper takes a step toward Nick then pauses, grabbing the rag to tie it to the top of the broom before resuming her stepping toward Nick.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick turns to look over towards the bar area as he hears Piper's voice. "Oh hey." He replies, stepping towards Piper as she initiates the process, "I'm here to see a Miss Halliwell. Would that be you?"

The musician gives a slight smile to the club owner as he slides out a hand from a jacket pocket, exposing an ungloved hand.

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper nods. "That's me, yes. I'm Piper. Piper Halliwell

She shakes the hand and smiles. "So you are Nick, yes? Your agent spoke highly of you" Piper adds with a nod, and pulling out a chair.she offers it to Nick. Yes, P3 has chairs. Mostly since Piper was cleaning them. This one is clean. There's another one opposite it, that Piper sits in, hands in her lap. "Please, take a seat. And no, not literally"

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Nick Drago." He confirms before the handshake is complete.

"And that's good to know," Nick replies, giving a bit of a chuckle as he moves to the indicated chair, "I'd be a bit concerned if a person whose job is to arrange for bookings was speaking ill of their clients." He sits down, leaning back in the chair until the back rest indents the fabric of his jacket, "So I understand you were interested in booking me for a music act?"

Piper Halliwell has posed:
"Oh you'd be surprised" Piper says with a nod. "I've heard all sorts of agents smack talk their clients, you'd be shocked" Piper mutters with a laugh, "So, Nick Drago, yes, I'm looking to book you for P3." Piper nods. "So tell me about yourself" Piper adds with her hands in her lap and sitting back. Unlike Nick, Piper's chair has all four legs on the floor, herr eyes on Nick. !Yeah I'm looking to book you for P3" she smiles brightly

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Then I'll consider myself fortunate to have such a professional for mine," Nick responds back in reply to the talk of smack talking agents, "Ok so a bit about myself...Um." He looks up, "I found out I had a knack for music around age eighteen, became part of a band called Silver Round. After a few years of building a following, we got a record contract." He pauses for a bit, smile weakening slightly. He glances down, shifting forward in his seat, "After the band, I started work as a session musician, put out a few albums of my own, got a few acting gigs, did some tours, and occasionally I fill in for other musicians if there's a need.

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper listens with a nod, "Yeah but I spend quite a lot of time talking with agents. You'd be shocked how they lowball their own talent" she shrugs. "Then again, you've mad something of it. See, you're..." she pauses. "You aren't like most acts I deal with. You're....and this is going to sound weird, humble" Piper nods, "As in, you're not in here kicking the door in throwing your ego around, ya know? Goddess knows I do that enough at times here" Piper nods with a look around P3. "See, if I offered you a slot on....let's say....the 17th, gave you a few hours would you be interested if I gave you free reign to put together what you like for here?" Piper offers. She's not fishing for acts. Yet...those 80s tribute bands aren't all bad. Then again, not returning her calls either.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"That does sound weird." Nick agrees, giving a small smile, "But, to be fair to my colleagues, I wasn't always like this. I've had a good nine years to learn from my mistakes and I've seen what happens from keeping up with the untouchable attitude."

He reaches into his pocket, pulling out a small notepad and pen, opening it up. "Ok. It's already be established I'm available on the 17th and yes, I'd be interested. Would it be possible to arrange an area here for whoever I bring in for my support band to relax, prepare, and eat undisturbed?"

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper nods, "Back room work for that?" Piper asks with a nod, "There's a few rooms used for storing things, but we can clear them out for you if you'd like. Or just get security to make sure you're not disturbed in a booth" Piper shrugs, "That works too, though the back room's sevral tims more secure. I'm not sure if people know this. But booths don't have doors"

There's her sarcasm again. Piper's got it revved up and ready to go. "So" she adds clicking her fingers at the ceiling, "How's this sound, you guys get a back room, we put enough in there for you to relax and rehearse and eat and all that?" Piper offers.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Those arrangements will work," Nick agrees, "I'm not sure your patrons would appreciate a band changing clothes at one of your booths. We don't do THAT type of show."

He jots down a note, "Ok before I make a set list, are there any particular songs you'd like for me to incorporate in there? I will for the record state that Silver Round's 'Drinks with the Devil' is not going to be allowed. "

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper sits back, watching him with a nod. "No objections. Who am I to say hwhat should be on your set list?" Piper asks with a knowing smile. Not her place. "Nah, you're not that type of act. Good to know you ain't part Chippendale dancers too" she says with a smirk. "Wrong type of club for stripping anyway" she jokes. "But seriously, I got no objections to the set list, just let me do a check on who you bring so there's no trouble, okay?" she asks.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick nods, "Once I confirm my usual folks are in for that date I'll let you know the finalized list. But on another note..."

Nick shifts in his seat, reaching into another pocket to pull out a business card. "I know sometimes it's hard to build up an acts list. There's a lot of competition out there."

He leans forward, handing the card towards Piper. It's not Nick's but instead Wade Shaw's. "This might make finding acts a bit easier later on if you find yourself in that situation" He sits back, "Wade is a friend of mine and owns the studio I do session work at. To make things easier on solo clients using the studio, they maintain a list of musicians in the general area who are vetted by the studio and are readily available in the area of the studio or local venues, such as yours."

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper studies the card and pockets it. "So would it be an issue if I called Mr. Wade and asked if I could vet the musicians myself?" Piper asks. It's more a 'peace of mind' thing as Bloodhaven's not the safest area around. She nods. "Yeah I've heard his name. I've used a few guys who claimed to go to that studio for acts before. None of them would pay that well though, do I need to drive it home that I need money?" Piper adds with a sigh, shaking her head. "I mean. This place won't run itself"

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"He'd probably prefer that you call him directly than try to use a go between." Nick replies, giving a nod, "It'll make it easier for him to build a client profile if he speaks with you directly. Also there's less risk of someone misrepresenting themselves to you about where they're getting their list from."

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper nods. "I don't trust the police here to do checks. So" Piper nods. "I can drive over and sit down with him and see who he suggests for checks and go with that. Because that's the smart thing to do. Work with the hand that's giving you artists, y'know?" Piper adds with a wry grin. "You want to let him know I'm coming over? My phone's charging so I can't text or call right now. Oh the joys of technology. And....we got no bar phone. Turns out drunk kids decided to steal it. Hilariously, they got away with it. I like to imagine there's frat kids getting calls for P3 all the time now" Piper jokes, eyes glinting with amusement. "There is a phone, but it's safely in my office. Good luck getting to that one"

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"You can use mine." Nick fishes out his cracked up but still functional Nokia, "It's not pretty, but it works." He points out, unlocking it to start dialing Wade's number from memory. He hands the phone over, "Just press the center button to dial."

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Piper thanks him and nods, taking the phone with a hand. Pushing the button she listens. "Hey, yeah hi, I'm Piper, I own P3 andw was given a card with your information on it. Can I arrange a meeting with you about clients for my club? Specifically vetting them ot ensure no problems in Bloodhaven?" Piper asks, all the while eyes on Nick, watching him a nd past him at the same time, too. The joys of owning a club where stood in the right spot, you can see it all. Doubly so for the DJ.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
As Piper talks on the phone with Wade to arrange an office appointment, Nick closes his notepad and slides it into his pocket. He glances around, seemingly interested in the positioning of the speakers in relation to the stage.

Piper Halliwell has posed:
Call done, Piper hands the phone back with a smile. "Okay, so....what're you thinking?" she asks with a knowing grin to the stage. "Those speakers can be moved though, so what're you thinking?" Piper asks tilting her head. "You know you can put those speakers wherever you want"

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"I was kind of getting an idea of what the acoustics were going to be like in here." Nick admits, looking back over to Piper to take the old brick phone back from Piper.

He looks back to the stage area, "We can work with this. What are the house rules on the sound technician?"

Piper Halliwell has posed:
"Bring your own. DJ normally does it but he's on vacation in Maine for the winter. Which totally screws my etertainment schedule up" Piper huffs shaking her head. It's like how dare my DJ go on vacation. Though at least Piper was told. "Still I know about it, but nobody won't come here, something about Bloodhaven's reputation for violence and things. Well then" Piper nods looking thoughtful. "Just means we gotta get bands in here or go with the speakers and playlists"

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Bloodhaven has its moments..." Nick agrees a bit tentatively, "But so does Gotham, New York, pretty much everywhere else. Doesn't stop me from accepting gigs here." He shifts to his feet, "As for the sound guy, I got two possibilties in mind."

The youthful looking musician smiles down to Piper, "Do you need to vet them too?"

Piper Halliwell has posed:
"True that" Piper admits with a grin. "True. But no, no need to vet things, I have a whole club to deal with and clean and get ready for tonight. If you know anyone who can sweep or clean, senndeem my way, I'll go sit down with Mr. Shaw too, but I do need to get cleaning my club up" Piper admits with a smile.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick nods, "Alright. In that case I'll get to work on a set list an I'll give you a call later to double check on the details. Until then, Miss Halliwell."
