Cast of Characters: Captain Marvel (Danvers), Rogue

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
It had been a while since Carol had spoken to Rogue. It was more the fault of unfriendly scheduling than any sort of means of avoidance - but the downside was that Carol's promised trip out of the solar system hadn't come to pass. Nevertheless, she'd reached out to the young mutant and asked her to come see her at the office. Along with that communique had come credentials that would get her into the zetaport and see her beamed directly aboard Mackenzie King Station.

Under Carol's leadership (and in big part thanks to an initiative by Doctor Fairchild), the Station has been opening up to commercial traffic and visiting. To that end, the place is substantially busier than it was last time. Not only is the usual military business going on, but independent researches and civilian contractors seem to be bustling this way and that. Nevertheless, it's not so crowded that the trip to Carol's office takes long at all.

Inside, Carol sits on the edge of her desk with a tablet computer in both hands and a face staring at her from the screen. A video call of some sort: "You've got your renewal, doctor. But you need to step up your game. We're reassigning Aoki and Tam - "

The face on the other end begins to protest.

"You can make due with one assistant, doctor."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue had gotten all that stuff together that she needed to get clearance up here and she'd made the trip. Arriving on the station, wearing a dark colored navy peacoat, with a low scooped neckline sweater beneath it, a red scarf around her neck and draping down her chest, jeans on, gloves on her hands and a leather duffle bag hanging from its grips in her left hand.

She makes her way through the station, smiles and greets those who greet her and gets directions from whatever services are available to get brought to Carol's office.

Once she arrives, she peers inside, then leans over against the doorframe and stares at the blond inside of it on her desk with a communication going on so it seems. Rogue just waits for it to end before she'll make eye contact with Carol and grin at her.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"You have my full faith that you'll work this out," Carol says reassuringly to the screen, glancing up to spot Rogue in the doorway, "I'm going to hang up on you now. Bring it up with Catilin if you really think you can't manage."

Then, true to her word, the blonde taps a button on the tablet and the call ends. She puts it face-down on the desk, slides it away from herself, and rises to her feet. She gives the mutant a wink as she gestures to one of the plus seats on the 'visitor' side of her desk, moving towards the refrigerator.

"Hey, Trouble," she says with a grin of her own, fetching out a can of soda and tossing it deftly through the air towards Rogue, "Sorry I've been AWOL. It turns out multi-billion dollar government departments don't run themselves."

Rogue has posed:
One thing Carol definitely knows Rogue has, is that Seventh Sense that warns her of incoming danger to herself. In this instance, its a soda can... what danger!

But even still, when its thrown at her, Rogue's free hand instinctively shoots up and catches the soda like it weren't nothing. She grasps it and then steps into the office toward the soft chair in front of Carol's desk. Her bag is set down beside the chair and she steps around it to sit herself down.

The can is placed between her thighs while she starts to remove her gloves, once they're draped over a knee she pops the tab on the soda.

"Its no problem." Rogue responds, taking a sip of the sugar water. "Its December ya know, so there's all kindsa stuff t'do down there on planet Earth. Though I really haven't been in the Christmas spirit at all this year, doesn't even feel like that time'a year... Kinda odd, that. Used t'be I got so wound up for that holiday. Guess my mind's elsewhere these days..."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Oh, that's planet Earth," Carol asks, glancing out the view port towards the planet below, "Well, I just lost a bet."

She can't help but grin at her own little joke, glancing to Rogue and raising her eyebrows in turn. Her own stainless-steel water bottle retrieved from the fridge, she sinks down into the seat alongside Rogue's rather than the one behind the desk. She turns in it a little, crosses her legs, and tilts her head back as though inspecting the young woman critically.

"Not in a Christmas mood? And here I was getting you your present early, too."

She reaches onto the desk and produces a small white box about the size of a deck of cards, wrapped with a dark green bow. She looks at it and sighs: "I guess I'll just throw it away ... "

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is sipping her soda while staring at Carol, and when she lowers it and hears the other's words she grins and has to shake her head side to side. "Oh no, you can't tease me with presents and then use my words against me like that. Ah say random shit all the time, I can't be held responsible for it! Ah meeeean... thats partly why Ah had t'go t'Xavier's in the first place." Her free hand goes up to tap the side of her head where her white bangs meet the rest of her dark brunette hair.

"Head problems, basically like Mutant Tourettes Syndrome, or somethin', I dunno." Her southern accent is played-up here and there as she's teasing and toying the other first, she then leans forward and uses her free hand to do a grabby-hand motion at Carol.

"Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme, nooow, I must haaaave it." She's being entirely immature about this present stuff now! "Ah'll NEVAH be able t'live unless I know whats inside'a that cute lil box now!"

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Carol laughs for a moment, holding the little box out of Rogue's reach as she makes grabby hands towards it. She holds it aloft and to the side, glancing back between it and the young woman for a moment. She makes a thoughtful face, as though trying to decide whether to hand it over or not, before relinquishing it to Rogue's grabby hands.

"That is a prized possession of mine," she explains once she's handed it over, "I don't think I've ever been prouder than when I got it."

Inside the small pox is a woven insignia patch like what would be sewn onto the sleeve of a military uniform. In this case, it is a blue shield with a yellow scroll reading 'USAF Test Pilot School' and bearing the emblem of the school (weqXyDJ.jpg). It's nestled on a small piece of folded green tissue.

"I thought those sleeves on that jacket of yours looked a little lonely," Carol adds, in reference to Rogue's superheroing costume, "And I think it'd look good on you."

Rogue has posed:
By the time that Carol finally relents and hands the package over, Rogue had feigned exhaustion and collapsed forward onto Carol's desk with her arm stretched out and her hand limp. Carol places the box down into that limp hand and Rogue instantly stops pretending to be exhausted and sits back in her chair again with a tiny excited squeal of a noise.

The package is set down in her lap and the soda is set forward on to the edge of Carol's desk. She starts to pull the bow off and then open it up and look inside. When she sees the patch her fingers dip inside to lift it up and out. All she has on her leather jacket are the red and black X-Men patches on the shoulders. "Oooooh." She softly says, feeling the textured knitting of the patch's design.

"I love it." She says, her green eyes going up to Carol to bring a smile with them. "Thanks. I'll sew it on, like on the chest or somethin', I'm not sure what the protocol for that is... admittedly." If that was a memory Carol had it was one that was lost somewhere inside of Rogue's cluttered mind.

"Really, thank you. Its great because of where it came from." She says with a very sincere tone to her southern flavored voice.
