Cast of Characters: Green Arrow, Felicity Smoak

Green Arrow has posed:
And so the night of that fated meeting has come. The one where if it goes as planned, without his interference, may signify the murder of many people. And even if they are criminals Oliver is past that point in his life. No, he won't let them just fight it off. This is not their city, it is his.

Arrows have finished being prepared, solemnly set into his quiver. Smoke, normal, capturing ones. Grappling hooks. He is ready. Just finishing to get his armor in position in the arrowcave he looks up at Diggle. They both look solemn, ready. They normally need very little conversation when it comes to these times, as if they could understand each other without that kind of need. "We want to stop the attack, give it enough time for police to arrive. With the kind of numbers they have I am not surprised they would take to focus on us instead so make sure to stay out of harm's way."

Then a final go through the plan, "They have four guards at each entrance to protect the meeting. Through the plans we discovered they intend to create a roadblock to stop reinforcements from arriving, or letting them leave. That roadblock will need to be lifted in order for police to intervene and people to escape." he says, placing a few last explosive arrows inside his satchel. Just in case..

Bike and car is ready and soon they get themselves in motion, on their way to that meeting point.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
John Diggle's car follows Oliver through the streets, the former military man dressed in dark fatigues with body armor on, and a mask to protect his identity sitting on the seat beside him. "Ready to follow your lead," he says to Oliver as they reach the spot to leave their vehicles and approach more quietly.

Elsewhere, Felicity Smoak is talking to her phone. Not talking to someone on her phone, but to the phone itself. "Any gyro shops in the area?" she asks the phone. "There is a Greek restaurant, 6.4 miles-" Felicity cuts it off. "How about somewhere with good soup?" she asks. "I did not understand the question," the phone replies. Felicity gives a sigh and pulls up a browser to search the old fashioned way. Surely there has to be somewhere worth eating in this area.

Green Arrow has posed:
Riding through the streets doesn't take Ollie long to get there. It's as if he has studied all the ways there, the efficient ones, escape routes, entrance points, etc.. In a world of people with powers, ones that could snuff out the Green Arrow with a thought, it pays to be prepared always. It's the only way to survive. With the vehicles behind them he points to the building in the distance. They came early, hopefully the others have yet to arrive. "When they come in for the ambush and get the roadblock up I will do my own ambush on them. That should focus their attention on me. Meanwhile you will take care of the roadblock, if you can. We will be in constant communication." he taps the comm device on his ear. "So let me know how things are going on your end."

He begins walking ahead, a grappling arrow up so as to get a vantage point from a nearby building to hide his approach. And slowly he brings himself into position. Up on that building being built, hidden in shadows and watching to any that approach the place.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
John Diggle moves quietly to get into position. No grappling arrows, just his feet and hands, climbing in some places and slipping in through doorways or windows in others to move up to a better vantage point. He has his sidearm in a holster for the moment. "Movement over here," he says before long. "Looks like they are starting to arrive. Separate cars. Sedans and SUVs," he says as he looks down at the street, pulling out a small pair of binoculars to peer down at the arriving figures below.

Felicity finally just decides on the greasy spoon on the corner. Maybe she'll find something great there. Or at least, not food poisoning. It's not the best area, dominated by the large building under construction, though even at this late hour she sees cars pulling up to it. "Making them work on Christmas Eve," she mutters, shaking her head.

Green Arrow has posed:
As the cars take a corner and begin to approach they come into sight to the Green Arrow. His eyes watch the proceedings intently. These should most likely be the drug dealers that come for the meeting, along with their escort. A mix of guards and suits. "I see them. Do you confirm the number we expected?" he questions. He knows Diggle will be in a vantage spot to check while he waits for the ambush. He leans a bit off the ledge he is perched in, balance perfect, bow in hand. The cars come to a stop and people start to trickle out to go into the building.

The joint is indeed greasy, certainly no Mac's burgers, which is a joint with some finesse. Here it's mostly the regulars sitting by, a rather unmotivated server which the first thing she says to Felicity when she arrives is, "Didn't have anywhere else to spend christmas eve, eh?" by her tone, and posture, seems she is none-too-happy to be working that night.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Diggle replies over the radio, "Five cars. Five groups. Four people each. Enough to keep guard but not so many as to draw a lot of notice." After confirming the count of 20 people attending the meeting, John starts perusing the rest of the area around the highrise still under construction. "There's a few walls they can get behind, but a lot of exposed areas too. Will be tough for them to get out if it goes... how the computer makes it seem someone is planning to make it go," he confirms.

Felicity gives the woman a small grin. "Bingo. Dropped off some presents and hungry enough I wanted something before I get home," she says. "Sorry you have to work." She thinks a moment and then reaches into her pocket. "Here, just a little something. For stuffing stockings with. Kept a couple for myself," she says, passing over a candy cane which is mint and chocolate, green and dark brown.

Green Arrow has posed:
"Smoke arrows. I will attempt and divide them, then intercept the attackers when they approach. I am very interested in finding out about this threat. As for our friends here..." Oliver produces a small, infra-red camera from his belt. He has his gadgets too! Then begins to take a few photos of the people that are joining in. Certainly faces to look into in the future, for even if he is saving them now doesn't mean he won't make sure they are behind bars soon enough. ". ... let's just take a few photos.." rather different from the type of photos he and Felicity were watching the other day. He wonders what she'd think of this kind of photography. And then he frowns to himself. Focus. When they go in he goes within as well, keeping to the floors. He follows until they find a place to gather and gets a listening device in, just to keep tabs on what they are discussing. Maybe they will even have clues on who this new player is.

"Well, it's mostly the house special today, hon. So ...." And then she pauses, blinking a couple of times down at the offer and taking the candy cane. That brings a smile to her face, "Well, I will be ..." then she leans in to Felicity in a conspiratory manner, "Don't have the house special, it's just a mix of other day's leftovers." yes, seems a little attention with some of Felicity's charm does wonders to the woman's mood.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Diggle continues to scan the area with his binoculars. "I see movement on foot. No vehicles. Must have parked further out," he says, calling out directions to help Green Arrow spot them as well. He gives a count and then asks Green Arrow, "How many do you see, how many total?"

Diggle checks his gun and his spare magazines, then resumes searching through the binoculars. "No sign of snipers on the surrounding buildings at least. Looks like they want this to be more personal," he confirms. "Alright, there are vehicles. The roadblock being set up I think."

Felicity smiles at the woman for the tip. "Well, then... what would be fresh? How about the grilled chicken sandwich then?" If not fresh, at least frozen and freshly made. "Fries and an iced tea," she adds, completing the order.

Green Arrow has posed:
With the listening device it's back to perching in wait, keeping a lookout. He spots the approach of that group, again getting that infra-red camera to work in order to see the approaching group better, "Not as many as I would expect." a frown then. "I count 15. The number doesn't add up considering they should be aware of how many are meeting here. Something isn't right." no snipers is good news. Guns are always cheating when he uses a bow.

"See if you can find a way to break that block when the fireworks start. I know it wouldn't be the first time you jump-started a car." a grin in his tone when he says that.

The woman smiles, sweetly almost, then, "It will come right up." then she begins walking to the counter and says in a loud voice. "Marv! grilled chicken sandwich! And make it quick!" bossy! Then she goes over to get the iced tea.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Diggle glances around the area. "Yes. Unless they already have something planned there where they are meeting. A bomb maybe? Or gas? Something they wouldn't be dealing with them all at once. Or even at all?" Diggle suggests. He swings his binoculars over to eye the roadblocks. "Looks like long-bed trucks. Should be able to get one out of the way," he agrees. "Moving to get into position for that."

Felicity smiles to the woman and then pulls out her phone and begins googling it. "What was her name?" she asks herself. "Vera... something elli? Martinelli? I think that was it," she says, as she searches for the stunning young woman who announced herself as Oliver Queen's girlfriend up in his office the other night.

Green Arrow has posed:
"Poison gas, a bomb, those would make sense. Though I had a surveil of the area these last few days. There were no coming ins and outs." Green Arrow narrows his eyes at the approaching group, their forms now more distinct. They are a mixed group, some asian, others not so much, thugs most likely hired around the city. Oliver is mostly sure he has come across one or another in the past. Minor criminals. They bring weapons. Firearms on most but others with a few melee weapons, lead pipes and other such improvised ones.

Behind them, somewhat afar but mostly surveying are a few more figures, the main one, standing in the middle has the figure of a woman, watching through binoculars. "Diggle, do you have eyes on the group surveying this?" he gives him the coordinates.

In the meantime the leading thug reaches to his belt where a tube is, shaped to be thrown. A grenade? Though he is far enough still. Or maybe not, starting to prepare to throw it through one of the many open windows of the building.

Vera Martinelli, socialite, heiress, high roller. If there is a party she is normally there. She has had her slew of relationships, and even rumored to having had one with Oliver before he disappeared into that fated island some years ago. It was quite the gossip when they rejoined. Dream couple? Though there are rumors it may not exactly be like that in reality.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Diggle swings his binoculars about, finding the area that Oliver calls out. "Woman. Black pants and trench coat overtop. Looks like platinum hair. That or a white scarf, can't make it out clearly enough," Diggle says over comms. "Alright, looks like it's going down. Heading for the roadblock. Call me if you need assistance with the rest!"

John starts back down, having already picked a fast path down the side of the building that will allow him to drop in on those guarding the exit, hopefully taking them unaware.

Felicity Smoak reads a couple of articles that mention Vera. "Rich. Beautiful. Don't know what else I expected," she says, sighing and setting her phone down. The iced tea is put before her. "Thank you," Felicity says, putting on a smile that doesn't want to go there without some effort being put into it. But the waitress has nothing to do with the glum feeling inside.

Green Arrow has posed:
Surely the guy won't be trying to toss the tube-grenade from there? Unless we are talking about an olympic throw. But Oliver has seen enough to be ready. Bow up, an arrow coming. The toss comes and .., it comes with a strength not normally seen in a person. It flies towards one of the windows yet the Green Arrow is ready. Bowstring tenses and he releases an arrow, enough to get the thing off-course and for it to land somewhat on the side of the building. Still, when it falls there is a cloud that comes up and spreads. "They brought poison grenades. Moving to intercept now."

That was a surprise to the thugs, but then they point to the building. Weapons come to the ready and tracer fire lights up the night, pointed towards more or less where Oliver is at.

The guards John is moving towards have their attention on the building, and now more when shots are heard. They ready weapons but seem mostly unaware to what is behind them, following the trajectory of the shots. Takine them unaware shouldn't be a problem for Diggle.

The woman sets the iced tea down but then offers a sympathetic smile. "It's ok. I am sure he didn't deserve you anyway, sweetie." the forced expression seems to be taken in perhaps a rather wrong context. But then again, coming to her joint in this day normally is due to such amorous problems. Yes, she has been here long enough to know. An expert! Or so she thinks.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
The first man goes down quietly as John Diggle grabs him from behind and chokes him out. Setting him down quietly, he moves on to do the same to a second, leaving two. However they are side by side, and before John can even get to them, one of them turns and sees his tall figure, clad in black and masked.

The man shoots, reeling around and shooting wildly. John shoots too, just not wildly. A bullet in each man's leg drops them and he kicks their guns away and knocks each out with a quick blow to the head. Dragged out of the way of the vehicle he's going to move, the men lay there unconscious as he checks their pockets. "Keys," he says with a grin, pulling a set out of a jacket pocket, and going over to find which of the trucks they fit.

The sound of gunfire is the first thing to reach the diner. Felicity is just about to sip her iced tea when she hears it, sitting up. "Wow, that sounds clo-" she gets out before the window of the diner shatters and caves in, hit by a stray bullet. Felicity and the waitress hit the floor, not to mention Marv bac in the kitchen.

Green Arrow has posed:
"The damn special wasn't that bad!!" Yes, that's Marv from the kitchen, perhaps thinking that it's a reaction to his food. But the voice is panicky enough. The man scurries off to the back door of the kitchen while the waitress stays down by Felicity, looking scared.

Oliver, with the shots starting to fly, slides into the window he was perched from, running to another one, arrow already out and set on his bow. First, the auto weapons. He wasn't expecting the tossed grenade so it forced him to act but now it's time to take them out. He shoots the flash bang grenade right to where the shooters are. Unerring accuracy. It leaves them stunned, and with an opening for him to jump out, the use of a grappling hook and he's 'flying' through the air to land right next to the men with autoguns.

Most forget his bow is not only to fight from afar, it provides a good melee weapon when needed and so he moves mercilessly between the men, strikes aimed to disable, hit to the legs, then on the head, another on the belly and then on the back of the neck. Not killing strikes, but enough to send them to the hospital. "Careful, some of them may be enhanced somehow." this said to Diggle over the mic.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
John Diggle gets one of the trucks started up, moving it back and out of the way and creating a gap in the roadblock that leads to the most open way out of the area. Soon he's fished out a second pair of keys and the other vehicle is out of the way as well. "The chickens are able to flee the coop now," he says, totally improvising on that rather than it being some kind of codeword. "Need me to assist over at the building?" he asks.

Felicity slides across the floor to the waitress, covering her with her body. As there's a lull in the sound of the bullets hitting the building, she says, "Ok, let's crawl out of here. Is there a back door?" she asks, given the front seems to be towards the fighting. When the waitress nods, motioning towards the back and the exit that Marv took, Felicity encourages her forward with a gentle push, the two women crawling like soldiers in basic training. Except totally lacking in any kind of form or technique.

Green Arrow has posed:
The door on the back lies open, Marv the coward (though can anyone blame him?) having already left the premises. There's still sound of bullets flying outside, but no other has strayed to the diner. At least so far.

With the two shooters taken out that means auto weapons are done with. Leaving a few with pistols, and those with the melee weapons. More fair for the Arrow. He loses little time, running forward to still take out one more with a gun before they start to get out of their daze and focus their attention on him. Which means he needs to start dodging. So far just common thugs, "So far this looks .., fine." some stress on his tone as he kicks one on the sternum, making them bend forward and then hits him with the side of his bow, back of the head. But that's when the earlier thug, the one that tossed that 'grenade' so far moves in. Fast, tossing a punch, barely blocked, that makes Oliver fly a couple of meters back. "Scratch that, need you asap."

Meanwhile the targets of this assassination attempt begin to scurry out of the building, scared, they don't know what's going on. And they certainly aren't trying to get themselves involved. They begin to run over to their cars.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Felicity and the waitress might blame Marv! He could at least make sure they get out alright. Though the two women seem to be handling that on that on their own. Crawling around the back of the counter, into the kitchen, and towards the back door that Marv left swinging open in his hasty departure. "Let's stay down until we get outside," Felicity says, having heard the automatic weapons fire and worrying the bullets could make it through a wall.

Diggle replies, "On my way." He drives the second truck forward to get to the building quick, slamming it into park and jumping out. He runs over towards where Oliver is fighting the enhanced man. Soon the masked figure jumps into the fight, throwing a punch at the man that is blocked, and a kick following it up lands sole-first on Diggle's stomach, knocking him back and off of his feet, landing on his stomach. "Strong," Diggle groans as he staggers back to his feet.

Green Arrow has posed:
"Right?" Ollie says, wiping some blood of his chin as he rests down on a knee, near the spot where Diggle landed on. He has been busy while Diggle was getting here, fending off against the enhanced man. But mostly keeping it defensive. He notices the man is slowing down and indeed when Diggle is here it's noticeable the bloodshot eyes, the panting chest, the maniac look. It's the look of someone very high on drugs, adrenaline to the maximum.

Most of the other thugs are either disabled or have retreated. Green Arrow's presence here tonight wasn't expected, and certainly not what they had been paid to. And money doesn't pay loyalty. Most have ran, at least the ones that weren't chinese. But then again those are mostly on the ground already.

"Going to try and get his attention, you know what to do." And with that Oliver springs up and runs to one side. The quiver pops out another arrow, this time a Bola arrow,. He aims low, towards the man's legs, making it so it hinders movement. Perhaps not for long. But it's an opening for Diggle.

The waitress continues dragging herself across the ground, already puffing and tired at the effort. She is not exactly someone that exercises much. "Right now I really wish I was back in my bed." the woman complains. She looks scared, but not in a panic. Felicity's presence here, and directives, seems to help with that.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Diggle gets up slowly, a hand on the ground, his posture more like a sprinter in the starting block than a combatant. When the enhanced man's legs get tangled, Diggle charges forward out of that crouch like a linebacker after a quarterback. He lands a blow with his shoulder in the square of the man's back, spearing him and knocking him forward onto his stomach.

Diggle rolls forward to be out of the way for whatever arrow Oliver has planned next for the man, coming up with his gun in hand and searching about for signs of any additional enemies. The vehicles that brought the people to the meeting start to squeal out, tearing off down the road and out past the opened up road block.

Felicity and the waitress make it out the back door. "Well, think of it this way, don't have to work the rest of the night," Felicity says. She swings the door closed for one extra barrier of protection and then rises, waving the waitress forward. "Have a car or need a ride?" she ask.

Green Arrow has posed:
Whatever the enhanced man was running on isn't enough to take on a full charge from Diggle, specially on his back. It robs him of breath and he crumples to one side, still breathing hard, eyes more wide. He growls though and when he turns around he is fishing inside his jacket. A small tube is in his hand, he reaches to begin opening it... An arrow goes through his hand. He may be strong, but no more resistance to a good arrow than a normal person. The vial falls out of his hand, to the ground and he screams, clutching at his pierced hand. Oliver steps forward, a swift motion with his bow to hit the man on the side of his head. Enough to knock him out.

With the cars gone, it means the mission is mostly done. Oliver looks around the scene and at the destruction caused. He notices the diner on the other side of the street, window smashed. A frown comes to his expression. "Good job, D. Can you secure the place? I will check for injured bystanders." he snatches the vial from the ground. Something for later, then begins to walk towards the diner.

The waitress takes a deep breath when they are out, relieved. Not that a door would help *much* if bullets were to hit it but ...., as long as she believes she is safe. "I live close to here, I always walk home. And tomorrow Marv is going to pay.." she frowns.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Felicity nods to the waitress. "Alright, go quick and be safe," she suggests, touching the woman's shoulder reassuringly before watching her head off into the night, staying close to the buildings.

"And leaving me to get to my car," she says, turning and looking towards the front of the building. She's actually parked on the side, but near to the front. Felicity moves over in what she figures is a stealthy way to the back corner of the building on that side. There's her car ahead, parked near the corner beside the sidewalk. A car roars past, coming from the direction of the gunfire. Felicity waits for it to pass and then she starts forward, creeping in a way which is probably more humorous to see than effective, heading alongside the wall towards her car.

Green Arrow has posed:
Oliver is still breathing hard from that fight. Unexpected that they'd have an enhanced man with them, but he has beaten them in the past. And more easily. Age can be a curse sometimes, but maybe it will bring him more wisdom. Hopefully. He stops on the smashed window of the diner. A glance inside shows him there doesn't seem to be blood, nor people. Good. Maybe it was closing out.

He steps back, again to the sidewalk and then begins to round the building at a slow pace. He isn't exactly looking for stealth right now so his steps can be heard from the parking lot while he approaches, bow in hand, hood up. Yes, he can seem somewhat creepy when he wants to.

With the thugs mostly having fled, and the ones that stood and fought being out it isn't hard for Diggle to start gathering them up for the police when they arrive. Making sure they are all tied up in a nice christmas gift for the men and women in blue.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Felicity Smoak makes it to the spot on the side of the building across from her car. She is about to make the little rush over to the car when she hears footsteps coming from around the corner nearby.

The blond woman looks around, panicky. There's nowhere to hide, it's just open sidewalks and the building she's nearly pressed against. She fumbles in her purse, pulling out a container of pepper spray just as the person coming to the corner casts a shadow. A rather large looking shadow. She lifts the pepper spray and aims it towards the corner as the person rounds the building. "I'm armed, so just stay right there," she says, trying to make herself look as intimidating as she can.

Green Arrow has posed:
Looming shadow. The man is tall and dressed in a dark-green suit. From that close it seems to serve as armor too and from the looks of it seems to have received a battering tonight. And then there is the hood, covering his features. He stops when he hears the voice. It's a rather familiar one, but he can't see the woman yet. Or at least until he rounds that corner more fully. He comes to a stop. "Fe--" a very brief pause. "Miss, is anyone hurt here?" that altered voice on his suit makes wonders to hide his true identity sometimes. "I am checking for injured." he very slowly opens his hands to his sides, non-threatening. But under that hood he is worried. Was she hurt?

Felicity Smoak has posed:
Felicity Smoak hesitates as the person makes no aggressive moves towards her. Then it dawns on her who it is. "Oh. Oh! I'm sorry," she says, lowering the pepper spray without using it. "You're... you're the Green Arrow aren't you?" she asks. She glances back behind her, but the waitress is long gone.

"There were three of us in the diner. No one was hit. The waitress left for home and the cook... ah, he just fled and left us. Pretty much," Felicity says, the last part kind of matter of fact and just slightly judgmental. "So... everything over. All the guns and... bullets?" Felicity says, trying to peer past the Green Arrow's rather rugged frame to see off towards wherever the gunfight was.

Green Arrow has posed:
When it seems that he was recognized Arrow lowers his arms again, the bow still held with his hand. Just in case there's still any lingering threat surrounding the attack. He nods to confirm, "I am." inside he is relieved. Noone seems to have been hurt. But also anger at having put others in danger, innocent people. Most of his face is out of sight, just the chin and jaw really. Showing a touch of blonde beard, and also a speck of blood. "I am glad noone has been hurt. Do you have your own ride home?" he questions, his eyes surveying the parking lot. There's Felicity car, he recognizes it.

He is still breathing somewhat hard, glancing over his shoulder to the scene of the fight. "It should be safe to leave now, the fighting is over." he assures the IT woman.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
"I do," Felicity confirms, motioning over towards her car. It's nothing special, a little sedan which is reliable enough but not very flashy. "It's not a lot but it fits my budget. Which, isn't so much I can't get something nicer but I already paid this off and so I figured... I figured... you... really probably have better things to do than listen to me ramble. About. My car," she says, concluding in halting fashion.

She motions towards said car again. "So I'll just... go then," she says, with a nod. She goes over to the door, opening it up. "Um... Merry Christmas. If you're into that sort of thing," she says.

Green Arrow has posed:
Oliver continues to watch the smaller woman walk off to the car. He just gives her one his enigmatic smiles when she goes off on a tirade about the sedan. But he doesn't judge her life choices. Instead he advises. "Take a right when you reach Parkinson avenue. Police are on the way and going through there means you will come across their cars. It will be safer."

"A merry christmas to you as well. Continue your good work." Whatever that means! Maybe it was a slip up. Regardless he steps away from the diner. Time to go back and handle this mess of a night.

Felicity Smoak has posed:
"Oh, thanks. Though, Jewish," she says. Then realizes it's more of the making with details the superhero probably doesn't need. "But, I appreciate the sentiment," she says.

And the young woman climbs into her car then, starting it up and doing an illegal U-turn to head off away from the source of the gunfire, and down in the direction the Green Arrow directed her.

Green Arrow has posed:
The Arrow watches the car drive off.. What were the odds. But then again she knew about this place, from the plans they got from that computer. Maybe she figured something more from them? She is smart enough. He is conjuring all the possibilities when he goes back to meet Diggle, who has made a good job of getting them all prepped. He sighs. "Noone hurt besides these guys. And my ribs. Now let's get out of here." he nods towards their vehicles. "I will send the police the details, and some photos of these fine gentlemen that were meeting inside. I am sure they will appreciate it."
