Synopsis: Mera and Arthur discuss plans for New Years
Cast of Characters: Aquawoman, Aquaman

Aquawoman has posed:
Sunday mornings are quiet times, even for royalty. Though usually, they're times spent at home. This morning, though, Mera woke early, and news from the surface of the appearance of a dragon above Central Park lured her out of the waves. She //could// have taken the time to wake Arthur, but where's the fun in that? Besides, he needs his rest.

It doesn't seem to have taken long, though, as it's still relatively early when she returns to the palace, leaning her bident against the wall as she goes to check the bedchambers for their intended occupant.

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur is up and about. The King of the Seas (Or half of them, whatever) is standing on the balcony of their chambers. His long blonde hair flutters about his powerful shoulders in the water, and the man seems lost in thought. He is dressed in his usual, ceremonial orange and green scaled armor. The Trident sits in its holder inside of the chamber.

He turns when he hears movement in the main chamber, and he chuckles softly. "Have fun?," he asks curiously, turning to kick into the air and swim into the bedchambers.

Aquawoman has posed:
"Me?" Mera's smile flickers despite a half-hearted attempt at an innocent expression. "Just a little morning run, so to speak. Best a dragon, be mistaken for Queen of Asgard. Thor sends his regards, by the way."

She moves to meet him halfway, a hand raised fondly to his cheek. "I thought perhaps you could sleep in before the rest of the world returned to you. Is everything well? Or is it just the burdens of kingship that have you awake and thinking?"

Aquaman has posed:
His brow furrows a bit at the joining of 'Queen of Asgard AND Thor' being used in the same statement. "Mmmmn. I'm sure he does." Arthur chuckles softly and flashes her a grin. He's not really the jealous type (-Usually). He knows what he has with her. He turns his head to catch her fingers with his lips to kiss them.

"Nothing unusual, my love. All the same, all the time. I will happily take that trouble over something greater, however. We should take the time to enjoy this quiet while we can. It won't be long before some new threat is at your doorstep, afterall."

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera chucks his chin lightly with one finger, laughing softly at that brief change in expression. There's no need for jealousy between them - Arthur is her world. "Enjoy the quiet," she muses, arching a brow. "You sound as though that's possible, love."

She leans in for a brief, warm kiss, hand sliding down to his chest. "Being king is you duty, Arthur. But if you let it become your //life//, you'll lose yourself. I've always known better than to think you'd ever leave the surface behind."

Aquaman has posed:
He chuckles softly at that and nods. "I know. It makes us both restless. It's something my father would say to me, though, in between storms." He shakes his head and grins. She can feel his firm muscles through the brightly colored scales of his armor, and he cocks his head to the side as he watches her.

His lips meet hers, warmly and eagerly. No hint of passion has dulled over their long engagement. "I know," he says softly, smiling. "And I thank you for that."

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera wraps one arm around his neck, keeping her other hand on his chest as an eddy of the water around them spins them in a circle. "A service I am ever pleased to provide," she laughs after, content to remain close to him.

"I understand it's traditional on the surface for there to be celebrations of the new year," she says, brows rising. There are times when she doesn't understand the customs of the surface...but there are equally times when she pretends not to just for effect. "Perhaps the king might make an appearance at one or two."

Aquaman has posed:
His own strong hand lands on her hip, lightly brushing over the green scales of her outfit. "It's true, there are. Human cultures have documented the passing of the year like that for...well.." Arthur grins softly. "...For a long damn time. I think that sounds like a plan. Perhaps we make a show in New York for part of it, then visit one or two others. New York to Metropolis? Then end at midnight in Amnesty?"

Aquawoman has posed:
"The biggest party of the year," Mera laughs at the conclusion, teasing him gently. "Amnesty Bay diner, where the celebratory drink of choice is a cold beer." Her cheek rests near his shoulder, crimson hair floating around the pair of them, before she presses a kiss to his jaw and floats away with a light kick.

"It will be good for you to be seen," she says, taking a moment to remove her bracers. There are no plans for further heroics for the day, at least. "The surface is inclined to make light of us at times, I think. Better they remember that you are more than just a hero."

Aquaman has posed:
He watches as she drifts away from him, and he nods. "Hey, Joe makes Wild Blueberry Pie for New Years. Fresh and delicious. You can't miss it." The King grins and floats idly towards her as they talk.

"Well, we'll work to make them see -us-. They need to see you, too. Not just me."

Aquawoman has posed:
"Oh, they will," Mera replies, no trace of doubt in her voice as she turns to cup his cheek once more. "Arthur, my love, you are an incredible man, but being regal is not your strength," she laughs low. "Lack of practice, perhaps. I, on the other hand, //exude// regality."

She tips her chin up, brows arching in a way that leaves her looking down her nose in a way he can certainly recognize. "As evidenced by the assumptions of one very foolish dragon. Honestly, it was a little sad. If the Asgardians had half your talents, it would have made a wonderful war beast."

Aquaman has posed:
He laughs at that and nods. "I know. It's true. Humble beginnings, I guess?" Arthur shrugs it off and winks at his betrothed, reaching out to lightly brush his fingers back through her red hair.

"Well, thankful to us, they aren't half what we are," he says with a lopsided smile.

Aquawoman has posed:
"Not even," Mera agrees, not the least bit self-conscious about comparing them to gods. Crimson strands tangle around his fingers in the gentle movement of the water around them. "Have you had breakfast yet? I'm famished. Fighting dragons is hungry work."

Aquaman has posed:
"Well, perhaps we put off breakfast a bit longer," the King says with a chuckle. He floats closer to her, until he is right before his betrothed. "Besides, you got a work-out this morning with that dragon, but I find myself somewhat lacking. Food can wait."
