Round One!
Date of Scene: 31 December 2019
Location: Abandoned Warehouse, Lower East Side
Synopsis: Desperate to work out frustrations, Katsumi sneaks out to find trouble. Under the name 'Bakeneko', she decides to do a little street fighting. Chun-Li seemed to have the same idea. The clash is brief, but explosive.
Cast of Characters: Bakeneko, Chun-Li

Bakeneko has posed:
A couple days. A couple /days/. That's how long Swan's been in the hospital. So goes the latest report brought to Katsumi's room, followed by a stern, disapproving look from her manager. He didn't get it. Heck, neither did she. She's used to hurting people, that's part of the job. But what happened was wildly out of her control. It was monstrous. Beastial. And altogether completely effortless. Katsumi doesn't often feel guilty about what goes on in the ring unless she can admit to herself that she went too far. This is definitely one of those times.

That's not even the whole of it, however. If she knew how, or why, it happened, she could prevent it in the future. She could at least give an account; some kind of explanation. But nothing has been right since she landed in the States. Extreme fatigue. Blackouts. Her eyes changing color. And now this. It's more than a little difficult to wrap her head around, and trying to do so just keeps landing her with the same conclusion: my life is over.

Katsumis weren't meant to be caged. They're wild. And if one is tortured on top of it, the craving for a release becomes too much. And today, she couldn't take it any more. She has to have an outlet. Suited up in simple racerback sportsbra, leggings, and sleek black boots, Katsumi tossed on a concealing jogger's hoodie and snuck out of the hotel. When one looks for trouble, it doesn't take long to find it. And find it, she did; in the form of a street fighting circle in the middle of an abandoned warehouse.

No referees. Just the expectation that the other person won't kill you. That's a sort of power, right? A sense of self-actualization? It'll have to do. And Katsumi Oshiro, for her pixie features and 'sports entertainment' career, is assuredly a fighter. A honed athlete, trained to inflict damage and control not only an opponent, but herself. She's been in plenty of brawls. This'll just be more focused. She'll even make a little money, right? Who cares if she gets dinged up.

The booker didn't seem terribly impressed with Katsumi's svelte appearance, but she insisted he put her in next. She didn't want to give him her real name. The last thing she needed was word about this getting out, and landing her some publicity. So the name he got was Bakeneko.

The girl turns around to unzip her hoodie, shedding the unnecessary outer-wear while she waits.

Chun-Li has posed:
For Chun-Li, it is a guilty pleasure. A thing she does for fun from time to time to get the stress out. She was known in many circles. Honestly, some believe her to be the strongest human woman on Earth. It'd not be much of a stretch. Given she's in no way a mutant or a metahuman, she's just trained to tap into more than most. And now, she can kick through steel given the proper motivation. So, when she is told she's got a new opponent, she has no problem with it.

This is what people were here for, right?

So, she comes into the ring, dancing from foot to foot as she looks over toward Katsumi who is getting ready and she smirks. She knows not to misjudge enemies but Katsumi seems a bit too little to cause any trouble. Of course, she herself doesn't strike terror sometimes until she really flexes up. She'll just have to wait and see with this one.

Bakeneko has posed:
"Chun-Li!," announces the booker, waving a hand to her. "Versus!" He checks his notes again. "Bakeneko!"

Ladies fighting always seems to get the rougher, more knuckledragging-inclined people in the crowd riled up. But hey, them's her people. Katsumi's fine with it. She'd be lying to herself if she claimed she didn't know there wasn't a certain marketability to it. Heck, she plays it up in the ring. And hearing the crowd roar and jeer has already put her in a better mood.

The Japanese punkette whirls on heel and tosses her hands into the air, chin uptilting and oddly magenta-hued eyes half-lidded to soak in the praise and anticipation. She struts to the makeshift 'ring' to get a look at her opponent, noting the Chinese wardrobe, the name to go with it, and the spiked bracers. She's not a huge fan of that last part. Those could really hurt. Still, the girl across from her doesn't look like a walking refrigerator - muscled, but still human-shaped. Heck, she might even just be packed with 'glam' muscles, so who cares!

Katsumi's stance widens, hands lifting as if ready to catch and grapple, and fingers splayed. Someone as seasoned as Chun-Li can likely recognize a stance like that - Katsumi's a wrestler, after all. "So, how are we doing this?," she calls across to her opponent with a confidently wicked little smile. "We fight 'til you're unconscious? Or until you're tappin' out?"

Chun-Li has posed:
A smirk is given back to Bakeneko. Chun-Li doesn't say much of a word. She knows those cocky types. She isn't one of them. She's powerful and she knows it but she doesn't she'll have to go all out to handle a random street fighter. She shifts back a foot and puts up her hands.

"If we go till I'm unconcious, the crowd might get bored. Lets just go till you are done."

And then the man raises his hand and throws it down.

"FIGHT!"

And Chun-Li moves like a spring. Those legs flex up like two coils and launch her wtih a speed that Katsumi is not likely used to. The first kick is blinding fast but the power behind it is more like a jab. THe kick a test to see just what she is up against. Chun-Li is not out to break someone in half, not unless they deserve it and she needs to know what she is up against.

Bakeneko has posed:
'Bakeneko' giggles at the shots returned. Oh, good! Her opponent isn't dull! She always likes it when the other person can send some barbs back. It makes things less awkward, more fun, more relaxed. And the realization that she just giggled for the first time in a couple days warms the dark little cockles of her heart. This is just the medicine she needed.

"You are /so/ going down, Princess Leia."

When Chun-Li bursts into motion, those brilliantly bright magenta eyes widen. No, she was not expecting that. And the kick itself is lightning fast. Purely by trained response, the grappler turns herself against the blow, taking the testing kick against the hip. It looked like it should've hurt more than that. And the idea that she might be superhumanly durable as well as strong flashes across her mind; that reminder that she severely hurt someone without meaning to coming to the forefront. She needs to pull back. She's brassy and sassy, but she genuinely doesn't want to /hurt/ this chick.

Hands lash out, attempting to catch Chun-Li at the base of the neck to hold her steady. Her right knee will raise, hoping to catch her in the midsection. But the impact, should it land, would be downright gentle. Nothing more than a bump. There's no superhuman strength to compensate for. She's just greatly holding back on her perfectly human, granted athletically keen, power.

Chun-Li has posed:
Chun-Li accepts the grab and the knee if only to test the girl's strength and Katsumi can clearly see a frown come to her list. She stares at the woman before shaking her head and then stepping back a moment before she just sighs, "Well...good luck in the future Katsumi." And with both that test and that knee, she realizes that this is not all that impressive of a woman. No fight and so Chun-Li seeks to end it quickly. Her right foot whips up to send a roundhouse across Katsumi's cheek.

"Sorry." And then she whips it back to try to put her heel on Katsumi's other cheek and just end this quickly and without much fanfare. She then proceeds to start to turn and walk away, expecting this to be over.

Bakeneko has posed:
Bump.

Big load of nothing. It felt gentle even to Katsumi. Did she pull back too much? The Japanese girl is briefly stunned, still grappling with Chun-Li, but staring down at the point of contact with her knee and the opponent's midsection. She sets her foot back down, puzzled, and lifts her gaze to see the other girl's frown. Chun-Li has slipped her grip with no trouble - Katsumi wasn't even trying to hold onto her at that point. But that frown! That judgmental look! Boy does that ever take the wind out of her sails.

Her mouth opens to try to defend herself, to explain, to give /some/ excuse for why there was no force - but no sound comes out. Chun-Li's foot slams against the punkette's cheek, taking her cleanly off her feet and bringing her down to the ground in a heap on her side. Reeling from the hit, Katsumi gives zero resistance to the foot coming to push against her opposite cheek. Her chest rises and falls more rapidly, confusion meeting with frustration, the humiliation of hearing the crowd start to laugh at how effortlessly the Chinese chick has destroyed her.

Suddenly seething, Katsumi's arms lash out to attempt capturing her foe's leg! Her left arm will brace against the ankle, the right arm behind the knee in an effort to bow the joint and bring her down to the ground on her front. But should Chun-Li find herself taken down by the sudden grapple, she may wind up in a worse predicament. The momentum would see Katsumi roll over with her, ending with her right knee pressing against the small of her back while that captured leg is hiked backwards, pulling the toe-tip towards the back of Chin-Li's head!

Those in the know would identify such a hold as a half-boston crab. The pressure is puts along the backwardly-arched spine is fairly intense. The grip on this would be reasonably solid. She's applying considerably more force, but still careful to control the degree and angle, unwilling to test boundaries too far just yet - and much less eager to risk injuring Chun-Li.

Chun-Li has posed:
The move is a surprise to Chun-Li but...there's one problem with it. While Katsumi is successful, can she hold on and can she put real pressure? Chun-Li is about as flexible as they come and it is likely only after Katsumi has the hold in place that she realizes what she is holding. She's holding a tree trunk. With it stretched like that, it is fairly obvious that this woman's leg was relaxed almost this entire time and as soon as the hold is in place, muscles rip like a wave over a wild ocean.

Katsumi is putting pressure but this is pressure on a woman who can likely do a fully extended kick backwards up along her own body almost without effort. Within moments of her locking the hold in, Katsumi will realize she's trying to hold on to a boa constrictor and convince it to stay still.

Both of Chun-li's arms press down, lifting up with power that no living woman should have. The leg goes only briefly slack as Katsumi feels the corded steel under her grasp begin to tighten and then suddenly Chun-Li attempts to send that leg and Katsumi into the ground with enviable force.

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro has discovered Little Miss Chun-Li is more muscled than most dudes she sees in the ring. What the heck, China. "Ghh..! Do you.. ever.. miss leg-day?! God****!," swears the punkette. She can feel the muscles tensing in her grasp, and Katsumi presses her free boot against the ground to try to gather more leverage. Her knee slips higher and higher along Chun-Li's back, trying to find that sweet-spot where balance disappears and muscle becomes less relevant. But it's forcing her to tighten the hold, to add effort to the attempt, and it's a nagging sense of worry! If she causes a spinal injury-

The leg whips forward, throwing Katsumi against the ground with a rather unlady-like "UNF!" and bounce. Nevermind. Whatever mojo Katsumi had that night, it's clearly gone. Screw her weird-colored eyes, that's it. She's normal again. No reason to hold back on Ms. Powerhouse over here.

Katsumi rolls over to hands and knees, silky black hair hanging like a curtain along the left side of her face. There are a couple of heavy breaths before she begins pushing herself up to her full height again. She's not done. She wants to feel alive. Normal. Like herself again. This is how she'll do it.

Chun-Li has posed:
And then Chun-Li very literaly spins around with a flourish and flips up to her feet. She lands on her feet with hands up and lets out a quick breath before she nods, "Alright then." She states, "At least you have some fight in you." And then she rolls her leg a little, hmming at the feeling and then looking over at Katsumi with a smirk, "Alright, you ready for round 2?" She asks and then grins before she comes forward for a couple of quick punches just to test the waters and then she whips up another kick.

Amusingly, she hasn't even had to use her real strength yet but now she is interested in this girl who has caught her off guard. She'll give her a little more line.

Bakeneko has posed:
"I didn't hear any bell...," mutters Katsumi. Whether that was a Rocky reference or a wrestling reference may be up to Chun-Li to decide. Either way, Katsumi has pulled herself up to her feet, a hand briefly touching the cheek that had been kicked. She's scuffed, for sure. But she's alright. She's still in this. No fancy kip-ups from her, though.

Hands raise at the, exotic eyes narrowing on the girl across from her. Chun-Li moves in with punches. Punches are good. She's familiar with punches. She slips left, then right, hands moving to carefully swat and dissuade the attacks without taking the hits directly. The follow-up kick nails her in the ribs, earning a pained grunt. But Katsumi isn't retreating. If she gets hit, she expects to hurt. That's normal for a fight. This is /normal/. God, it's good to feel normal.

But now it's time to really put it to the test.

In these close quarters, Katsumi attempts to catch Chun-Li's right arm with her left hand and give a quick yank inwards. Her right arm chambers and fires off an elbow aimed to catch the slightly taller girl on the cheek! This time, there's no holding back in force. She means to land a hit that's going to really be felt. And thankfully, her assumption will be proven true if it lands - she's her non-superhuman self.

Chun-Li has posed:
That elbow catches her right in the face. Chun-Li was still kinda testing this girl out. She takes the hit and winces as her head turns but...but this is not hardly the hardest she has been hit. She was taught by a man who held nothing back. So, she stumbles back from the hit and grins a little, "That's more like it, but sorry to say. I'm finishing this here and now."

Her hands whip around into a quick stance before she suddenly rushes forward and calls out, "Hyakuretsukyaku!" And her leg whips up and...was it one kick? Four? Eight? It could have been forty. Chun-Li's leg whips at Katsumi with speed and force that is nearly unbelievable. To make matters worse, that was jsut her left leg. She suddenly whips into the right leg and unleashes another series. Each kick hits with incredible force and Chun-Li didn't even use any chi to enhance the kicks.

Luckily for Katsumi, Chun-Li only put in about a quarter of her true power. So far, she has seen nothing to prove Katsumi can take the steel crushing power of those legs at full force.

Bakeneko has posed:
This is good, because though Katsumi is a fighter, she's a regular human woman. She may have done better here, had she not withheld from the start, or her head been in the right place. But it wasn't. Nothing about this was typical of her, save for that last, oh-so-satisfyingly normal crack of elbow to face.

Katsumi didn't have long to enjoy the feel of being strong, but not /too/ strong, again. Chun-Li gives warning, and 'Bakeneko' is preparing to startle her. She can tell when someone favors using their legs. It's turning that against them that makes a fight really fun. Were the kick any slower, she might've found it caught and expertly torqued to whip her into the air and slammed into the ground with a picture-perfect dragon screw maneuver. But this kick was far from fair.

Each hit creates a reverberating sensation of pain that rolls from every point of contact, anywhere the strike lands, jolting and jarring the slender Japanese woman's body as though she were being mowed with a tommygun. The brief reprieve as Chun-Li switches legs sees a dazed Katsumi stagger forward a step - only for the barrage to continue. Only when it finally ends does 'Bakeneko', gaze glossy and unfocused, drop to her knees.

She wobbles a little. Her mind is blank. She can't really feel anything anymore. Her eyes can't focus. The strength in her legs gives out, and she collapses onto her back, splayed and unmoving but for heavy, wracked breaths, helpless.

Chun-Li has posed:
Almost immediately Chun-Li lets out a breath and then looks to the man who rushes over. He checks Katsumi and then declares Chun-Li's victory to a wild crowd. Soon after, Chun-Li is by Katsumi and checking her out. She's checking her for signs of life and making sure she isn't in any immediate danger. She's a cop after all, she's trained in first aid.

She smiles down at Katsumi and nods, "You didn't shame yourself in the end at least." She then calls out to someone to get her a first aid kit and looks back to her work.
