Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
The portal had opened, and both Rogue and Carol were deposited in what seems like a cave. One moment they'd been in Manhattan enjoying New Years Eve, the next they'd been fighting some armed alien woman who'd eaten them with a portal and sent them - well, here.

It's a cave hewn from the ice, whether by nature or design isn't easy to fathom and neither of its captors happen to be geologists, nor exogeologists. It's big enough to walk around in, tall enough that they can't touch the ceiling, but beyond that there's nothing to signify habitation. No beds, no fire, nothing. The only thing is what looks like technology embedded into the walls at the mouth of the cave, covering it with an energy field that flickers occasionally when snow drifts in from outside and strikes it.

Carol is on her feet almost as soon as she lands unceremoniously on the ground, searching for Rogue only to find herself right alongside the young woman given how they travelled here.

"Trouble? You better be breathing."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue hates portals. A portal took her parents when she was 6. She's seen the man who took her parents use portals a few years ago, and his people again more recently used them to try to take HER. She's not a fan of them. Blink's portals... malfunctioned and nearly got her stranded on the Moon too!

She's not a fan.

When Carol calls out to her, Rogue is down on her right side with her hands up near her face on the ground and she's raising up to sit on her hip as she looks around at their new scenery. "Oh for god's sake." Rogue says, turning ehr head to look behind her as she scooches around onto her butt to look completely behind her, then back forward - and up - to Carol.

"What the hell is this? Are we in the North Pole? Santa's not gonna like us spyin' on next year's gift plans, he's probably still coming down from deliverin' all'a THIS years gifts..."

The Earthbound Rogue doesn't even consider that they're not on Earth at all. Not anyway as she moves to push herself up off of the ground and rise back up to her full height. She exhales and sends out a poof of hot breath mist from between her lips. "Why's this shit never stop?"

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"I'm guessing it's not Earth," Carol says quietly, moving a few steps towards the mouth of the cave and ducking her head to look outside and up, "Something just tells me it isn't. I'm getting distinct Empire Strikes Back vibes about whatever is out there."

She's not quite sure what that 'something' is, but ever since she became Captain Marvel, she's had a sort of 'cosmic sixth sense' to contend with. She's learned to trust her instincts on things like that. She clicks her tongue against her teeth, reaching out to touch the forcefield only to find it solid to the touch.

"Wherever we are, they want to keep us here."

When she hears Rogue speak, however, she turns around and moves back towards the young mutant. She doesn't' stand over her, instead lowering herself to sit on the floor alongside her. They'll get out, she's sure of it.

"That's just who we are, I guess. Trouble magnets."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue ends up just sitting there on her side then beside Carol as the other joins her and she looks out at the end of the cave then exhales heavily. "Thats a Star Wars movie." She says. "We're aliens on a different planet... again." Rogue only really knows Rogue One as far as Star Wars movies go, because its the one she's seen the most even if she doesn't really understand whats happening in it, she still likes it though, especially the Vader scene...

She reaches her gloved hands up then and wraps her white scarf around her neck in a more covering way. The cold weather won't kill her, but she still feels discomfort from it and it can still be a nuisance to 'be cold', especially freezing. Theoretically she could freeze solid, she's been told, but she's never wanted to try that out...

"At least we went through the middle'a the portal and not like, sliced in half by like that piano was. God, I hate Portals." She exhales heavily then and looks to Carol. "What do we do?" She asks. "Do you... do you got some kinda space radio t'call for help? I mean, wait, you can just fly off right? Go get help and bring it back? Sexy space men t'come rescue us or some such?"

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"One problem at a time," Carol says in her best soothing voice, planting a hand on Rogue's shoulder and giving it the sort of squeeze that may well crush steel but would render as affectionate amongst the super strong and durable, "Let's get out of the cave first, huh?"

That said, Carol presses off of Rogue's shoulder so she can rise up to her feet once more. She looks around for a moment, lifting a hand and holding it overhead. Momentarily, a burst of warm golden light emanates from it and in response part of the ceiling seems to turn to water and drip down upon them - melted ice.

"That's a start, at least. Maybe if we make the exit to the cave wider, we can go around that force field?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue smiles at the words from Carol and the reassuring gesture from the should touch. She stands with her then and nods once. "Right, yeah." And with an exhale she steps back to let the far more powerful Carol do her thing. AT the question from Carol, Rogue starts. "I remember playin'a game on my Aunt's boyfriend's computer when I was like... nine or ten. It let ya just use a minin' drill t'just drill inta the ground. You could go super far deep inta the ground and find caves that had treasure chests in them, with clothin' and more minin' equipment? I loved that game... I cried for like a week when he told me that they canceled it and I couldn't play it anymore."

Rogue gives Carol a soft grin then motions to the ceiling. "Can ya just... ya know... blast a hole upward until we reach the sky, then we fly out? I guess it might cause a cave'in though, huh? Bad idea..."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Probably a bad idea," Carol agrees, glancing up before she moves towards the cave entrance once again, "We don't know how much rock and ice is above us. If it's a few tons? No problem. If it's a whole mountain? Well, I don't fancy digging ourselves out of that. Let's just start small and save the explosive solution for when all else fails."

She isn't dismissive of Rogue's ideas, and she makes a point of never sounding this way. Whenever the young woman talks, Carol stops what she is doing and turns to face her - listening. It's a stressful situation, and she's doing what she can to try and lessen those stressors.

"Alright, I'll melt this down a bit and then you wail on it for me, huh?" That said, she lifts her hands and begins to bathe the ice around the energy field in a heated beam of energy.

Rogue has posed:
"Makes sense." Rogue comments then, voice soft, she knows full well she throws out words sometimes without thinking about them thoroughly first. Its part of having that cluttered mind issue that still plagues her to some degree, though is no where near as bad as it was when she first arrived at Xavier's School.

"Right, got it." She nods her head and swipes her white bangs back behind her ears while Carol sets to work. When that golden energy beam comes to life from the Captain, Rogue is mesmerized for a moment by it, watching it closely as she does her thing with it. "You really... ya know, traded up for better powers." Rogue observes with a grinning expression given to her friend. "I mean, you're like a Goddess now."

But its her time to do her thing and she steps forward, situates herself and then starts to push and shove at the energy gate. She leans into it and tries to put all 75'ish tons of lifting power into shoving the damn thing out of the way, or over, or forward and over!

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Don't let Ororo hear you say that," Carol answers back with a smirk, holding the beam over the ice for a little longer before she pulls it away to leave it cracked and partially-melted, "I guess it's for the better. I spent years feeling sorry for myself but now? With the exception of a couple smaller things, I don't feel like I'd change anything."

As she says that, she glances over her shoulder towards Rogue and gives her a warm smile. Moving out of the way, she lets Rogue hammer away at the wall. The force field begins to flicker and shimmer as the technological housings in the wall are knocked loose, with Rogue's punching and shoving doing the majority of the work. It only takes a few strikes before the ceiling and walls begin to grumble, and the force field itself flickers away to nothing.

"Quick, let's get out of here before the damn thing collapses on us."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue had grinned at the Ororo comment, Ororo being one of her absolute favorite people at Xavier's. The Teacher she was the assigned-to Assistant of, no less, before she'd told them she was taking a break from school this semester (and maybe forever, even so close to graduating).

"Okay, its workin'..." Rogue says, as she pushes, feeling the shield starting to budge and give way. When it does, she hears the unsettling after-effects, as well as Carol's comment.

"Ain't gotta tell me twice!" Rogue states, still floating in the air she starts to zip forward further down the cavern, her white scarf whipping around in the wind by its end behind her shoulders, with her white bangs doing the same about the features of her face.

"What do we do next? Think they got a space ship we can steal or somethin'?" She calls out while the two fly side by side.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Once they're outside, Carol doesn't spare a look back towards their cave prison. Instead, she flies far enough away to be out of range for any avalanche they might have caused and settles down into the snow. The cold isn't all that much of a concern for her, being able to weather the void of space as well as emanating a warm solar energy from within herself.

"There must be some sort of settlement around," Carol suggests, "Planets with breathable atmospheres aren't as plentiful as the movies would have you think. If you can live on the surface, chances are someone is around here trying to do just that."

It isn't lost on Carol that she could simply fly up and into space. Though she hasn't used the powers that allow her to cross galaxies in a short span of time, she knows they're still there - just dormant. But she shakes her head at the thought, turning towards Rogue.

"We'll find a ship. I can make anything fly. We're getting out of here together, though."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is right there with her until Carol slows down and starts to emit that glowing warm aura that has Rogue keeping close just out of necessity due to the bone chilling cold already effecting her, not as much as it would a normal human, but enough to make her... not like it.

"Gotcha." Rogue says over the winds of the outdoors environment that they're immersed in. "I'm right here with ya."

The Belle is well aware of being the 'weak link' here. She knows Carol isn't stranded. SHE... is stranded, Carol's just her life-line to not becoming a permanent resident of this place. "If we can't find anythin' though... I can hang out in that cave till you can go find help. I've gotten quite a bit've experience'a sittin' around on cold alien planets, waitin' for someone t'come help."

Rogue grins, or tries to in the severe chill, at Carol. "Maybe Batman's got a base here too and he'll show up t'save me like last time." Batman is a long, long was away, sadly!

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Maybe," Carol answers distractedly, narrowing her eyes to scan the horizon in search of something - anything that could lead them towards some way off the planet, "Just make sure you stick with me, Trouble. If this snow picks up, we're not gonna have any visibility and it'll be hard enough to find our way back."

As though to emphasize her point, Carol closes her eyes for a moment and there is a sudden chance in her. Not her clothes this time, but her entire body. Where once was Captain Marvel, she now looks a great deal like she did years ago before she became Warbird. A halo of solar light surrounds her head in place of hair, and her skin is now a deep shade of red - her body clad with white gloves and boots. Once more she looks like Binary, the cosmically-powerful being she once was.

She frowns a little, the pupils of her eyes having disappeared to be replaced with blinding light. But even at her feet the snow begins to melt, and she has all the warmth of a bonfire right here at Rogue's side.

"I haven't had to do this in a while," she ventures, rolling her shoulders, "Still don't have the same level of power I had then, but it'll do for now."

Rogue has posed:
Its not easy being the one holding a group back, rarely does Rogue experience that feeling in fact too. She keeps her arms around her midsection, holding her heat in as much as she can. She'd been wise enough to wear a jacket to the New Years Eve party but it was a jack picked for style more than function since they were in Greenwich Village a handful of moments ago. So the jacket is great, sure, but its also got a low cut panel from her neck down to mid chest and beneath it? Not much on under keeping her any more warm. Jeans and boots don't really do a lot in the cold weather of this variety neither! So she's struggling...

At least until Carol goes full on Jean Grey MkII and turns into something she's never seen before. "Woah." Is the Belle's quiet reaction to watching the shift in persona. She lifts her right hand up to shields her face from the light.

"Didn't know ya could do that!" Rogue says loudly over the winds. "I mean, you're like a livin' space heater!" She states then, showing a big pearly-whites smile from behind her hand. "Wish I'd brought my sunglasses!" She further adds, at least still having her sense of humor.

Rogue glances away then to the horizon. "Anyone around within kilometers is gonna see ya like that though, right?"

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Let 'em see me," Carol answers with a wave of her hand, "If they start shooting, we just go in the direction they're shooting from. There's not much out here I don't think the pair of us can handle."

The jokes sit well with her, and she can't help but smile even if it's a strange look on her suddenly-altered countenance. "I've still got the look," she admits, "But back before I burnt out most of these abilities? I could've had us home in a blink. This is what I've got going when I bring everything up to the surface, but it's still not gonna be enough to get us both off this rock without a ship."

That said, she levitates a little and waits for Rogue to join her, "Anyway, in the absence of tauntauns I think we need to get moving. You tell me if you're getting tired or sluggish, okay? Don't play tough around me, Trouble. I already know you're tough, you don't have to prove anything."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's arms both go back to clutching her sides, she doesn't need them to fly anyway, she's not a bird! With a light grin she nods once to Carol's words. "Your powers are always gonna be a mystery t'me, Lady. No matter HOW many times ya explain'em. I'm just glad ya got'em, for a number'a reasons." The most obvious one being that Rogue took her 'old powers' from her!

She gives another look around their immediate area, trying to take in what sights she can of this desolate ice desert of a world, but there really isn't much to see. "Lets just hope Darth Vader doesn't show up here and try to smack us with his laser pointer." Thats the best Star Wars joke Rogue is capable of. She's just not up on her nerd cred like others around her, presently or otherwise.

"I'm ready, no worries, I slept in late t'day expectin' it t'be a long night. Guess that turned out to be truer than expected, even if its... What time is it on this planet anyway?" She tries to look around for a sun, but all she sees are illuminated cloud clover of varying degrees. "Ah well. Lets do this!"

She's shivering, because her body wants to get warmer, but Carol's definitely keeping her from freezing completely and entirely, even if gusty cold winds blow across the Belle here and there to try to counter act Carol's efforts!
