New Year Resolutions!
Date of Scene: 07 January 2020
Location: Hammer Bay, Genosha
Synopsis: Conner and Clarice meet on Genosha for New Year's, they speak about what they want for the new year.
Cast of Characters: Superboy, Blink

Superboy has posed:
One of the advantages of receiving the new year in Genosha: Conner can taunt his friends about being in the future. Eight hours ahead. He is typing to Tim with one hand while flying (yes, yes, this is part of the reason he needs replace his cellphones every few weeks - don't text while flying!).

Now, where is Clarice... he has the coordinates and the GPS says it is here, but he can't see the purple-headed girl. Maybe he was too early? Checking... no, he is actually a few minutes late (typical Conner).

Blink has posed:
Good thing Genosha is mostly a no-fly zone, so no encounters of the third degree with an oncoming plane, or anything of the sort. Though no promises made about flying mutants. But those seem to be rare enough apparently. So no too much of a danger.

Blink has decided to spend New Year's at Genosha, and sent a message to Conner so they would meet sometime before New Year's, by a park that has a good view of the Genosha beach. And as per usual here it's tropical, no need for fur coats, or hats, she dressed in jeans shorts, an high-necked tank top and boots. Just casual, really. No need for fancy (And really, she doesn't have much in the way of dresses and such things).

Noticing Conner arriving she quirks a brow. Did she send the wrong coordinates? Apparently so! She gets up from the bench she was at and starts approaching, waving on her way.

Meanwhile the park seems full enough, and not only with normal people, other rather obvious mutants having made their way here to celebrate.

Superboy has posed:
It might also be Conner confused a 0 with an 8 in the coordinates. Yes, he did! Fortunately he has enhances senses so the flash of purple at her right allows him to spot the young woman. Like her he is dressed casually, although in sturdy clothes able to stand several hours of super-sonic flight. Jeans, boots and the usual leather jacket. He is also wearing the t-shirt with the red S, since he has no reason to hide who he is, and it is also unlikely anyone will realize who he is.

There might be a few Americans emigrants in the mutant crowd, but somehow he doesn't expect anyone asking him for autographs.

He should land there, but instead he scoops Clarice off the ground with an arm and hovers a few yards over the ground. "Hey there, what are we doing? You are beautiful. Will there be fireworks?"

Blink has posed:
There was also a light green, and a nuanced purple (this one painted), and a very real-looking firey hair.. Oh wait, that hair is actually on fire! Damn mutants. But Clarice is there indeed, her pointed ears clearly showing, the bright green eyes without any kind of contacts. Unscared of showing her true nature. She approaches with a smile on her lips.

"I will have that.." It's Clarice's first words when she approaches Conner, reaching to take the jacket off of him. "First rule of mutant island..., no jackets! Specially on New Year's." but then she is being scooped off he ground, holding on to the man with a chuckle. "Show off. And yes, there will be fireworks. We got a few people specialized in that." hopefully not Jubilee so people don't all end up blind for a while!

She gives the man a hug while they are still in flight. "Good that you could make it."

Superboy has posed:
"Wouldn't have missed it for anything less than Darkseid showing up to blow up New York," replies Conner, grinning. Then landing on a tall rocky outcropping. "Want to 'blink' my jacket out? I will need it to fly back to America, though." Besides, it is not as if the heat bothers him.

"Superpowers for fireworks? Awesome, I am going to try to take a recording of that," he comments. "For, uh, research," not to make jealous the Gotham denizens, of course not.

Gotham's fireworks suck, the weather is always crappy.

Blink has posed:
"Whoever that guy is ..." Because Blink is one of those types to never have heard about Darkseid. Silly villain. But somewhat above her paygrade too. Ignorance is bliss, or so they say. She smiles faintly, "Your wish is my command." she focuses, and they are flying rather smoothly too so she doesn't have much of a difficulty in isolating the jacket with her ability and then it gets 'blinked' away with that usual sound that is often heard when she does her shennanigans.

"Careful with recordings though, as long as you keep it more private it's ok, but we don't want our abilities to come out to the public eye. Or what we can do." Clarice lifts her shoulders in a brief shrug. "No need to create panic, or so the higher heads say."

She points to one side where a beach is. Lots of people are there already but she suggests. "Go that way. I know just the spot."

Superboy has posed:
"You mean Youtube is not full of videos of Genoshan mutants doing cool things?" Apparently it is not, Conner has not checked, but mutant-haters usually succeed at keeping any positive mutant-related recording out of most media channels.

"You need a better publicist if it is not, I could..." give them her Rex Leech cell number. But Conner now knows he wasn't a very good publicist. Still a fun guy; and a friend. "I dunno. Do something."

Blink has posed:
"Well, are you putting it up on Youtube?" Clarice retorts, quirking her brows up at Conner and continuing to hold on while hopefully they get steered to where she is pointing at. Under them there's a loud crowd, drinks going around, along with some already shooting off some early fireworks, or even those that look like the fireworks themselves, all lights and dazzling about. "I suppose what I meant is that we like our privacy."

She grins, now they starting to approach the beach and she points up. "Now go up." up the cliff that lines the beach, that is.

"And.., a publicist? I suppose I could talk with the Royals about it..." she ponders about it.

Superboy has posed:
Okay, no landing yet. Trust Blink to always get the best spot for watching things. Darn teleporters. He has to dodge a firecracker launched by a drunken mutant with spiky metal hair. Likely fake, but one never knows.

He lands on the top of the cliff, this time for real. "Do you like your privacy? I mean, you could be a famous mutant like the Scarlet Witch or, hmm... Storm?" There are not a lot of famous mutants that are not criminals. But Conner actually takes his time to learn a bit about heroes and villains. It has been useful a few times.

Blink has posed:
It's high enough, not too high that they can't see the people down there, but enough for privacy. And if there is anyone around ..., well, none that are visible so far. The place seems just like a small cleft in the cliff rock, enough for a few people to stand or sit about in the rocky ground. A thing she promptly does, sitting down and crossing her legs under her, "I don't think Wanda was really looking forward to all the celebrity status she gained but ..., I suppose the whole avengers thing did explode." the way she calls the Scarlet Witch by her first name means she most likely is in talking terms with her.

"But yes, I like my privacy. I do my things, I help what I can, be either here or with the X-- I mean another group that's around. It has been enough for me." then she seems to consider it for a few moments. "I haven't really found any advantage in becoming a public figure. I see the burden it brings to my best friend."

Superboy has posed:
"It can be a burden, but it can also be fun, and even useful," comments Conner, who comes from a 'family' of super-famous people (pun intended). "But okay. Just to show Red Robin and then I'll delete it," he states, brandishing his Starkphone (with lots of mysterious apps from the Batclan. Likely all he does gets stored somewhere in a Batcomputer).

At least he gets coverage in Genosha. He didn't a couple years ago.

"So are we watching the fireworks from up here, and then what's the plan?" He asks.

Blink has posed:
"Fun.." Blink replies, bringing her hands up and making 'quotes' gestures when she says that word. Clearly not following the belief that any kind of public life would be a good one. She would certainly not be a good Kardashian. "And no need to delete it, I am mostly just saying no need to get it up on social media!" she turns her eyes over to the phone when it's displayed, and if it's pointed her way she will make a 'peace' sign for a pic to be taken, grinning.

"I am just going with the flow. I didn't really plan much.. Just being here, watching the fireworks, making some new year resolutions and then we'll see." her eyes stray back to the people celebrating, her smile deepening. Clearly this seems to be her home.

"What are you looking for in this new year? And saying me doesn't count!" she warns, chuckling softly.

Superboy has posed:
A picture, but of course. Conner smiles and catches Clarice with the peace sign. For his collection. Yes, he is keeping all her pictures, including the teasing ones. Specially the teasing ones.

"Sounds good," offers Conner at the suggestion of 'going with the flow' and then he has to bite his tongue to not say 'you' just as Clarice suspected.

So he needs to think for a few seconds. "I will find Superman, whatever happened to him, and bring to justice those responsible. Also, I need to pick a minor for college, which I want to be criminology. But I think ESU does not give those courses, so I will have to take courses in other college or just go for Law. What about you."

Blink has posed:
The mention of Superman makes her frown just a touch, Clarice leaning forward to rest her elbows on her legs, using her arms as support to her chin. She continues looking down at the throng of people, and the few, scattered fireworks that pop up in the sky. "Do you have any more clues on what happened to him?" she questions, letting out a sigh.

The question about what she might be looking for in the new year makes Blink think for a time, silent. "Mmmm, I am uncertain as of this point to be honest. I have the joining with another mutant group and see if I will mesh well with them, but other than that .., Nothing in particular."

Superboy has posed:
Conner sits down at the edge of the cleft, close to Clarice and shakes his head. The Justice League is not telling him much. He suspect they are stuck in the investigation. He frowns for a few instants. Then he decides that it is not a matter that will spoil the night, and glances back to the girl.

"Saying 'nothing in particular' is lazy cheating," he protests, smiling. "Come here, there fireworks are starting," he adds, offering Clarice his hand, pulling her close if she takes it.

Blink has posed:
"It's your fault, really." Clarice replies with a shrug, "For not establishing rules on what I might say on my own expectations." deflecting blame!! Hah! But she grins, clearly she teasing the super-powered kryptonian, "I think that, for this new year I will be hoping to make a difference. Not becoming a celebrity, but perhaps becoming a hero in my own way. Least I can do for my people."

She gladly accepts the hand when it's offered, moving closer and relaxing against Conner. And indeed it won't take long for it to start. A gesture from Clarice. "Can you look behind that rock there?" being prepared, Clarice did bring a bottle of champagne and stashed it up here.

Superboy has posed:
"I'll give you rules," grumps Conner, poking her gently under the ribs with a finger. "But that is a good one," he admits, reaching for the bottle. Then checking his cell. Still ten minutes for midnight. "Gotta make a better year than the last one," he murmurs, wrapping an arm around Clarice's shoulders. "It is starting pretty well already."
