How does the garden grow
Date of Scene: 07 January 2020
Location: Dinah's Loft, Sherwood Florist
Synopsis: Dinah gets a visit from Kate Kane. And a flower order!
Cast of Characters: Black Canary, Batwoman

Black Canary has posed:
Standing in Sherwood Florist, Dinah is currently working on an arrangement to be picked up later in the day. She has a leaded crystal vase on the counter and reviews the requested list of flowers. Nibbling her lower lip, the blonde considers the selection and what sort of arrangement would display each of them the best.

Brushing her hair back from her face, she moves to on of the coolers to take out a half dozen red roses and the same number of white carnations to begin with.

Batwoman has posed:
Kate Kane is on the West Coast for business, of all things. It's really more of a favor to her stepmother, but Kate doesn't mind the travel. And while she's on the 'Left Coast', it's not too much of a stretch for the private jet to head north to Starling to visit a friend. Or, rather, a team mate.

The redhead walks boldly into the flower shop, heels click-click-clicking on the tile floor. Wrapped in a raincoat against the weather, her face is visible only when she peeks out from under the wide-brimmed fedora. "Can I get a dozen roses for a girlfriend?" the woman asks, with a playful smile.

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake doesn't glance up as the door bell chimes but calls out, "Welcome to Sherwood Florist! I'll be with you in a moment!"

Taking the selected flowers, she closes the cooler and makes her way back to the work space. She drops them into a holding bucket filled with water and looks up, "A dozen roses. Any preference on color?" her brow narrows a little as she recognizes that voice. Laughing, she starts over to the cooler again, "Any idea on color you're looking for, Ms. Kane?"

Batwoman has posed:
Kate Kane laughs in return, stepping right up to give the blonde an embrace. "Great to see you again, Dinah! I was on the West Coast and I couldn't resist stopping by." Stepping back, she gives the blonde heroine a once-over and then looks around the shop. "I see you in Gotham so much, and I don't think I've ever seen you in your 'natural habitat'."

"How have you been? Looks like business is good, anyway."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake hugs Kate and grins. "Well it's a surprise but a welcome one at that. Though it's strange to see you in anything other than the smog-filtered sunlight of Gotham I'll admit." A grin and she nods. "Well.. I'm a Gotham girl at heart but things have been busy enough out here over the years it made more sense to relocate. They seem to appreciate flowers more here anyway" she jokes. Another nod, "No complaints there. We do a pretty stable business. There are enough holidays and events to work from."

Batwoman has posed:
Kate Kane nods appreciatively, noting the arrangement that she's working on as well. "I think that Gotham is more of a black-and-white city, myself. Like those old 'films-noir', you know? Where everything is monochromatic except for the dame's lipstick or something. I just love that stuff." She leans back casually against the table, then. "Gotham made it through the holidays, and if you believe the rumors the Batman has returned to the city."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake nods in agreement. "Black and white. And a whole lotta shades of gray. 50 at least" she quips. "But I know what you mean. I love the old classic pulp and noir movies." a look of relief, "good. Gotham has enough other things going against it, nevermind tearing itself apart during the holidays."

Putting the pruning clippers down that she had been holding she tilts her head, "Yeah? And anyone believed he ever actually was gone?"

Batwoman has posed:
Kate Kane shrugs at the last, crossing one foot over the other as she leans. "Who knows? The gaps were filled, of course, so his presence never lessened. And there -were- enough regular sightings to keep the legend going." Pause. "You know how it is. But that's not really why I'm here."

"I was hoping you might be able to cut out early for dinner. Something that's not Chinese take-out on some cold rooftop. My treat, to ring in the New Year."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake finsihes up the flower arrangement she was working on while talking. She nods. "I'm not surprised. So many... little bats flapping around gotham's belfry." A grin. Then she looks back to Kate, "oh? So did you need those roses after all?" she jokes.

Batwoman has posed:
Kate Kane chuckles at that, tilting her head to put the fedora at a more jaunty angle. "Perhaps for the plane ride home." she replies with a knowing smile. "You know, I'm still not used to seeing you without the fishnets. So what time do you get off work? I can pick you up later if you want. Assuming you don't have a hot date tonight."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake laughs. "You're terrible, Kate." Looking at the clock, she shakes her head. "We close at six tonight. I could be ready by six forty-five?" she offers. "And no dates. Just because a certain blonde has been helping a certain archer here lately doesn't mean there's anything going on. I am pretty sure there's another blonde he's after anyway."

Batwoman has posed:
Kate Kane nods, adjusting the fedora. "There's -always- another blonde, in my experience." she replies. "I'll be back around six forty-five, then. In something a lot more casual than this." And with that, she turns and departs.
