Cast of Characters: Batman, Wonder Woman

Batman has posed:
Although Bruce has long since recovered and once more taken upon the Mantle of the Bat, his public face has had to walk a more difficult road. Their every public appearance has seen him leaning heavily on a walking stick, acting skill and knowledge of how such pain actually feels enabling him to put on the veneer of a man still recovering from serious injury. In truth, it hadn't been a very difficult thing to accomplish - he'd hardly shown his face more than two or three times as Bruce Wayne since the Red Hook disaster. Tonight, was a promised 'night off' wherein he plans to focus his intentions squarely upon the woman he loves.

They sit at one of the best tables by the window, Bruce's own influence allowing the tables nearby to be left empty so they can talk in relative peace and quiet. His walking stick is rested against the side of the table, and his cell phone has been removed from his pocket and laid face down on the tablecloth. Nevertheless, Diana would know that his cell is not the only connection to the Batcomputer he enjoys - even as they sit there, a HUD built into contact lenses he wears feeds him news and emerging situations from around the Tri-State Area.

Nothing to cause him concern just yet.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana had been there at his side throughout his recovery. Happily so and she entirely knows the face he has to put up to maintain his cover publicly as a yet-still-recovering Bruce Wayne. She's right there to play along with it. She is Bruce's public relationship these days, and she's asked about it quite often when the media is near to her. She's been telling that same media that she met him in his rehab process and was there to help guide him toward recovery, but along the way they've sparked a relationship out of it.

Nice and simple, and entirely true story. Just how Diana likes it.

Seated across from him now in a close fitting black sweater that has a half-turtle neck, with a silver chain around the base of the sweater's collar, her dark hair tied back and a lovely amount of makeup on her face accentuating the finely sculpted features there, Diana smiles across the table lightly at him.

She leans forward then and folds her arms on the edge of the table together. "Captain Rogers and Tony Stark are still missing." She tells him, as if he doesn't know. "I spoke to Thor just the other night about it. They are... struggling to locate them. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was concerned as well at this point."

Batman has posed:
Bruce's attention is focused on Diana, but it isn't hard to see that he's also fixated on their surroundings. He's taking everything in, as always. Muttered conversations at other tables. People who might be local luminaries out with the sort of company they shouldn't be keeping. He's always working, even when he isn't.

Diana's words, however, draw his attention back to her. He knew about the dinner with Thor, of course, but hadn't said anything. He was not a man of fragile ego and didn't feel the need to worry about Diana even when she was in the company of gods.

"I'd heard," he tells her, giving a slight nod, "I'm going to give what help I can. Who's in charge over there at the moment? Tony and I came to an ... understanding, but I don't think he's shared that information with anyone else."

Wonder Woman has posed:
"I'm sadly not familiar with their rank structure enough to make a real solid guess at who would be the commanding member in this situation. Perhaps the SHIELD agent... Clint Barton?" Diana responds with a light shake of her head then. "He seems the most likely, but I cannot say for certain. I find it unlikely that Carol Danvers would be, what with all of her responsibilities around the world and the... everything else." Diana's eyes glance skyward a moment to indicate space and beyond.

She then looks back to Bruce and lets her words settle in silence while she stares at him. "Have you spoken to the others about their statuses after the incident with Red Hook? How is Carrie doing as well? Should I seek her out and speak with her?"

Batman has posed:
"I'll lay out the feelers," Bruce agrees, making a mental note to get in direct contact with the Avengers.

The question about the rest of the Family gives him pause, though. He knows how he's been dealing with it - by throwing himself into the work. But, in truth, he hadn't spoken to any of the others involved in the whole affair since then. He hadn't really known how to and, as such, he hadn't tried.

"You should talk to her," he agrees, knowing Diana's innate gift for such things, "We haven't spoken since Christmas Eve. She's operating as normal, I guess. I think she went to dinner with the others not long ago. But she needs to talk about it."

He sighs, lifting a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, "I'm loathe to ask you to play the therapist again, Diana."

Wonder Woman has posed:
There's a very gentle dip of her chin in a very subtle nod when he speaks of the feelers and then her eyes stare solely upon him as her dark brows rise up just a little. At his nose pinch and statement there after, she smiles knowingly and then leans forward to extend her right hand out to place it over his other hand on the table's surface. "That role is one I will play for the rest of my existence. I am here to help others, and not just with sword and shield, lasso and clenched fist. But with caring words and a heart that desires to beat for the betterment of others." Her voice is calm, her accented English meant to convey her love for aiding others.

Her smile though, shifts into a subtle grin, a playful one that Bruce knows well by now. "I only tune out the ones who wish to tell me about trivial things, like how their brand new phone isn't working as fast as they would like it. Or if their Latte was too sweet. I am sorry, but I do not have any advice for woes of that nature."

Batman has posed:
"Well," Bruce says with a sigh, shifting in his seat and putting on the look of someone pained by the movement even if it is all just an act, "I can't do much about the latte, but if they say their phone isn't working as well, you could always tell them to buy a Prometheus. The launch went well."

He picks up the cell phone lying face down on the table. The same phone he'd given Diana as a gift months ago before - long before it's release to the general public. He waggles it a little in the air with a faint half-smile before laying it down again.

"But how about you?" he asks, reaching a hand across the table to take hers if she'll allow him, "Spending all this time making sure I'm squared away. The kids are squared away. What about you?"

Wonder Woman has posed:
A big smile sweeps its way across Diana's lips and she reaches out to take that phone that he was waving and waggling before her, even if it is his and hers is in her jacket pocket safely tucked away. "Yes. I will promote this as such, and on the official 'Wonder Woman Twitter Account' that my Assistant operates for me." Its true, her Assistant does keep up her social media presence for her.

"Just litter it with ads for my famous boyfriend's products. That will go over very well for me." She flashes him a grin then.

At his question about her well being she glances down and then back up. "Mmm? Me? I am the biggest square there is." She jests about herself then and there, before showing another warming smile, knowing that she just teased herself. She then shakes her head and glances away as her slim strong shoulders shrug. "I am fine. I am good. I have things that make my heart ache, such as what happened in Red Hook, but I have to keep going, keep moving, to help others avoid such heinous crimes and outcomes. So yes... I am... Well. As ever!" she offers him his phone back after toying with it throughout that.

Batman has posed:
Only when Diana is done playing with the phone does Bruce take it back from her, a faint smile on his face as he does so. He turns it over in his hands, opening up his own scarcely-used Twitter account and searching for something on his feed. Finding it - something Diana's assistant had posted about her recent charitable efforts - he retweets it before putting the phone back down.

"Now we're even, then."

Her words seem to soothe him a little, and he breathes a faint sigh of relief: "I'm glad. I just need to know that you're happy here. Living here."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana responds to his concerns by raising both of her hands up to cup her own face and place her chin against the palms of her hands. She attempts to look cute like this, her fingers pressing against her temples she stares at him with a big smile. "I am happy with my living arrangements, currently. Though if my sleeping partner continues to steal the covers at night, I might have to change my answer to this question. Fair warning." She raises her dark eyebrows and then purses her lips like 'Ooooo' at her own words before smiling again.

When their food arrives, delivered by their waiter, Diana sits up and places her hands down into her lap. She thanks the waiter with a pleased expression for them and then looks back to her plate, then up to Bruce.

"Want to do something unusual for us after this?" She asks him as she gathers up her eating utensils. "I saw a video game museum on the drive over. We could go in and play old vintage arcade machines? The kind in those big beautifully designed cabinets? I looove arcades. I am so sorry that they are almost extinct now."

Batman has posed:
"Video games?" Bruce asks, raising his eyebrows. He's never been one for video games. Even as a child he gave them a wide berth. Still, the smile on her face - everything about her - wants to make him try. For a man with willpower like tempered steel, telilng Diana Prince 'no' is an impossible thing.

He looks down at his own food as it arrives, giving the waiter a thankful nod.

"That sounds like fun. Promise to go easy on me?" he asks, picking up his own utensils and already making internal plans to convert one of Wayne Manor's many cavernous, unused rooms.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana very well knows that it is outside of their boundaries and normalcies. This is why she's grinning at him and nodding her head lightly to his response to the suggestion. "Yes." She says simply. "I know that they are neither of our... commonalities. This is why it will be fun." Her eyes drop to the food before her and then adds. "I think." She lets her pupils rise up to stare at him and she grins. "Maybe it will be unfun and we will leave within a mere matter of moments after arriving. But... we will at least play something before we decide. Like... ski-ball. Or... one of those games with the plastic guns that you shoot all the monsters dead with. Bang bang."

Diana grins then and reaches out for her drink to raise it up for a sip, she speaks while the glass' brim is brushed against her lips. "I will go as easy on you as I can, what with your injury and all." She says, then grins and then sips her tasty drink.

Batman has posed:
Though he doesn't say it, anyone looking could tell how enamored of her Bruce is. There's a genuine smile on his face. One with warmth behind it, rather than his usual kind that somehow doesn't seem to reach the eyes. He may not be able to retire to the happy life he'd envisioned when they'd first got together, but now he feels more confident - like they're happy right where they are.

"Challenge accepted," he tells her with a firm nod of his head, and just like that the rest of their evening is planned. He picks up his glass, taking a sip - no alcohol, but rather a sort of grape juice that will give everyone around him the impression that he's drinking.

As she grins at him, something slips out of him almost unbidden. A feeling inside that is so strong it cannot be repressed and instead becomes tangible in the air.

"I love you."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Once Diana's glass is set back down and she hears his professed love for her, she flashes him a smile that slowly sweeps down into a dramatic and lustful stare.

"I love..." She says, her voice sultry and laced with a seductive undertone.

Her right hand comes up then from beneath the table holding her phone that she'd fished out of her jacket.

"The amazing deats that are currently available on all models of the Prometheus cellular smart phones. Available now at your local phone emporiums or online at any WayneTech affiliate websites." All of this is said in as good of a sales-person's tone she can muster.

Her lips curve up into a smile and she sets the phone down and then reaches over the table to squeeze his wrist, and in a far more naturally Diana-tone she speaks on. "And I love you too." She adds, stroking his wrist with her thumb lightly.
