A Danger Room Flight
Date of Scene: 22 January 2020
Location: Danger Room - X-Men Base
Synopsis: Megan and Gwendolyn 'borrow' the Danger Room for a quick flight on the beach!
Cast of Characters: Dragonfly (Armenteros), Pixie

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Outside is cold. Outside has winds and ice and darkness and all that stuff that make flying outside not fun /at all/ but here, in the Danger Room? Anything can happen! Sure, most, if not all, of the programs are combat based along with some interesting ones set aside by Illyana called Session 1-27 that Gwendolyn did not look into out of courtesy, but there were a few baselines programmed into the system for calibration. Green Spring Meadow. Oceanside Beach Sunset. Central Park, New York. Mundane stuff that's got potential for thug fights or alien invasions but, if you leave those sliders set to zero? You get a nice time.

Calling in a small request with Cannonball, Gwendolyn learned how to find those particular settings and now, dressed in shorts and a tank top with bare feet, the Danger Room has been changed into something completely not dangerous. A sunny beach with waves lapping on the shore.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn is not too keen on winter and cold blowy snow to be honest. Hey, she's a fairy afterall, and a summer one at that. Or at least that's how she probably looks with the pink hair and rainbow colored wings. So she is quite happy to settle into a summer beach vacation in the danger room, even if it isn't for real. She is a little curious though, to see what surprises lurk in this way too cheerful little program. Dressed in a bright green bathing suit with a semi transparent pink sarong tied loosely about her waist, and matching pink sandals on her feet, she strides lazily in the sand, peering up at the sunny sky. "Woow, it's soo real! I could stay here forever! I mean..What's the catch?"

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Since arriving before thanksgiving, Gwendolyn hasn't had time or the inclination to find a bathing suit which is why she's kind of cobbled something together. Sports bra beneath a loose t-shirt and shorts. It's not sexy at all, but it shows off enough skin and keeps her wings free for flying. "According to Cannonball, there isn't a catch in this one. Aggression levels turned to zero. No enemies simulated. No weather events. Nothing besides sun, sand, and surf and clear skies to fly in." Gwendolyn spins on a toe, kicking a spray of sand out towards the water, giggling. "Thanks for coming with, by the way. I tried to get some other flying sorts, but they were mostly busy. It's kind of lonely, flying alone."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn makes a face. "Bah, that's kinda..I mean, it looks relaxing! it's just kinda weird. I guess the Danger Room can be used for fun, relaxing things too!" honestly, she shouldn't complain, it's not like she was over eager for another gruelling training session, and her wings glisten blue-green today, fluttering rapidly and hovering a few feet off the ground eagerly. "Heey, no problemo! Let's go for a nice flight! It's sooo warm and nice in here! Where should we go first?"

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
"Wherever we want." Gwendolyn lifts her wrist that has a small remote control on it, allowing her to switch between city settings. "How about some flying here above the beach and then, once we're good and warmed up, New York or Paris?" She grins, her visor glinting in the summer sun. "I want to get a little workout before trying to get some color."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn nods and smiles, "Heey, let's go out towards the ocean. Maybe we'll come upon a pirate ship! That would be cool...Is this your program? It's really relaxing.." she lifts a little further into the sky. "Soo how fast can you fly with your dragonfly wings? Wanna race to that buoy over there?" she points towards the sea's horizon.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Gwendolyn jogs out towards the shore, her footprints left in the sand, fading a bit after she's passed by due to some kind of algorithm that keeps memory usage down or something. She doesn't know how it works exactly, only that it does. Turning towards Megan with a giggle, Gwendolyn leans over and lets her wings unfurl behind her. "Not my program. Cannonball said that this was a calibration program so it's just running through a screensaver or something while we run around in it. Maybe if I ask he'll teach me how to program things!" She flicks her wings, a soft buzz rising as she lifts off from the ground. "Pirate Queens Megan and Gwendolyn!"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn arche a brow. "Screensaver, huh? That's sooo weird! I guess I don't know as much about these Danger Room programs as I thought. Well it sure looks like a certain sandy beach wallpaper I've seen before.." she giggles, pointing towards the horizon, "Arhg, me mateys, let's set out fer treasure, and pirate ships!" well hopefully this program has something out there besides endless water. "You ready? Set...."

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
"Go!"

Gwendolyn actually has to get a running start, but three large steps and a jump are enough for her wings to start working their magic, fluttering behind her in a scintillating rainbow of colors. The light reflecting off them makes it look like she has stained glass for wings, and it's rather pretty. She's airborne, though, her wings buzzing along behind her as she darts through the air towards the buoy, doing a roll as she flies.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn grins, quite impressed by Gwen's wings. She's used to seeing fliers with giant bird wings, or ones that simply defy gravity and fly without wings. So it should be interesting to see how similar they are in flight styles. She doesn't waste anymore time with words, wings fluttering a hundred miles an hour as she darts across the ocean, creating ripples in the water below as she easily keeps pace with Gwen.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Gwendolyn is fast, certainly. She's never tried to figure out her top speed. Certainly faster than a running pace...probably on the order of twenty-five or thirty miles an hour. Decent for a flyer, but with work, she might get a lot faster. She is agile, though, able to turn on her back, looking down at the pink pixie before diving, swooping towards the water, her hand skimming the surface, leaving a trail of waves behind.
