In Search Of Missing Friends
Date of Scene: 23 January 2020
Location: War Room - X-Men Base
Synopsis: Shannon and Samuel pass on Thor's information that Tony and Cap are in Khundian space somewhere.
Cast of Characters: Nightingale, Shadowcat, Samuel Morgan, Siryn, Archangel
Tinyplot: Surviving Infinity

Nightingale has posed:
The war room. It was rumors, whispers, the stuff one knew existed but never spoke of, either out of respect or fear. There was only one time before that Shannon had been called down to that spot, and on that occasion as well, it had been due to company of the Asgardian variety, in the form of Loki.

This time, it was his brother.

She slips into the room with her wings tucked in neatly behind her, in her favorite cream tunic sweater, jeans, and caramel suede boots. Her expression was deadly serious, but very, very calm. It was a calm that those who knew her best, usually understood to precede major news, or plunging headlong into danger. She waits by the door for others to arrive, her tension only betrayed by the slight rocking back and forth on her heels.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty Pryde walks in with Shannon. Students are allowed to the areas with the Danger Room, but not usually into these areas. "Coffee, or tea?" Kitty asks as she goes to pour herself a cup of coffee, and will make one for Shannon if she indicates a preference. "Have a seat, everyone should be here shortly," Kitty comments.

The chairs are sitting around the table with the 3D display, though it is turned off at the moment. Lockheed is perched on Kitty's shoulder, balanced against her movements as she gets the beverages and then moves to take a seat as well. She starts up a recording so the rest of the team can hear things later.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Much like Shannon, Bean has only been summoned to the war room once, and that was to talk to Thor. Given that this is one of the places he is absolutely, positively forbidden to go by himself, he figures that being summoned down there again probably doesn't mean they want to discuss his recent exam scores. This time he walks into the room with less of a look of surprise, since everything is still exactly where he remembered it being before, flanked by the reassuring presence of the German Shepherd named Bear. If they don't tell him not to bring Bear, Bear will be present, it's as simple as that.

He nods to Kitty and Shannon, glad he's not the last one to arrive, but a bit surprised he's not the first either. "Good evening."

Siryn has posed:
After the talk the other night of things going on, Terri had been a bit on edge. Part of her wanted to know, desperately, what was going on. The other part wanted to fight... and yet another part was stubbornly trying not to get involved because of past issues. In essence, she was a tense mess, and had likely ranted a few times at poor Warren about her distress over the matter. Namely of not being able to do anything to help. So when the war room is brought up and she's allowed to come as well there's no hesitation from her.

Wearing her leather pants, boots, and a black blouse with long, draping billowing sleeves that were almost reminiscent of a kimono she comes in giving the air a little sniff. "I smell coffee?" She inquires with a wistful look in the direction Kitty was currently. There was always time for caffiene.

Archangel has posed:
With his wings tucked behind him, Warren slips into the room. "Coffee?" it's his first question. Because he knows these meetings can be //boring// with a capital B. After finding coffee pot, he makes his way over. Then peers at the pot. "How old is this?" he asks, then seeing that Kitty has one, deems it safe. Making a cup for himself, when he hears the door open and glances over his shoulder, he catches sight of Theresa and lets out a low whistle. "Some cow died for your glory there, Terri." he says with an appreciative smile.

Then he's making her a second cup as he sets aside his own to prepare hers. "So, wingsis, this one is on you." he offers, glancing to the younger winged one in the room.

Nightingale has posed:
Nodding briefly to Kitty, the winged young woman tries to smile and relax a little bit. "Coffee, please, light and sweet." Okay, so it wasn't hot cocoa, but it was close enough! Too, the fact that it was Kitty was a whole lot less intimidating than meeting the Asgardian King for the first time, due to his brother's shenanigans--which she still wasn't quite sure how to feel about, but it is as it is!

She flicks her wings briefly in turn at Bean, Theresa, and Warren by way of greeting, closing her eyes briefly and taking a few deep breaths. At least one good thing had come of the whole prior experience--she was getting rather accustomed to having to give reports and relay news such as this. Warren's way of putting it does get her to quirk her lips upwards in something of a half-smile, a light chuckle escaping her. "Yeah, I know. Seems like I always wind up walking into the big piles of it, don't I?"

Opening her eyes, she glances around at each in the room. "Bean was present when Thor visited a few days ago, so if there's anything I missed, he can hopefully help fill in the gaps. We've kept silent even amongst ourselves, due to the nature of the incident this is in regards to." She pauses a moment, gathering her thoughts as best she can. "A few days ago, I was outside when Thor dropped by. He had information to relay regarding the New Year's incident, and the possible whereabouts of Mr. Stark and Captain Rogers. Bean, Sam, Illyana, and Kurt were present as well. I also reached out to Jean, as this partially concerns her, and hope to be meeting with her soon."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty greets each person with a smile and wave, and takes their beverage orders to speed things along. Once the drinks are passed out, Kitty is seated and leans back in her chair, sipping her coffee as she listens to Shannon.

"Thank you for passing it on. I think everyone here knows, but Cap and Tony were wisked through a portal to we're not sure where. So were Carol and Rogue, to another planet, but they've managed to return on their own, in a borrowed space ship. Their info may help narrow the search, but no particular reason the other two would have to be in the same place," Kitty says. "A woman who called herself Mikonia was behind it. She got away through a portal."

Kitty looks back, nodding for Shannon and Samuel to go on.

Siryn has posed:
Theresa Cassidy steps over to Warren to rest a hand on one of his wings lightly to balance as she leans up to give his cheek a quick kiss. The cup of coffee is taken over with a quiet thanks, and a grin. "Makes it easier to fly this way. Got to keep warm." And avoid objects like bugs, geese, etc. Her attention turns back to Shannon however even as she pauses to greet Kitty and Sam, and of course Bear with a little scritch behind his ears, before she finds her own seat.

Archangel has posed:
Leaned into the kiss, Warren grins after handing over the coffee for her and takes up his own, though Shannon's words draw his attention. He moves to take a seat, leaving the one next to him open as he turns his attention from Shannon to Sam. "Jean particularly? As in the psychic sense, or the whole..." he pauses himself. After all, he's not sure how much the kids may know about the original team's adventures off world and the whole...

...Jean died for our sins then came back thing.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"As best as we can tell..." Bean takes up the narrative as he sits down, unable to stop himself from projecting a likeness of Captain America and Iron Man on the holographic table while he talks. "... Captain Rogers and Mister Stark haven been taken to what Mister Odinson calls the Khundian Empire. He seems to be perfectly aware of what that is, and has promised us a map of some description to allow us to find it. His plan is to travel via... he called it the Bifront, I'm uncertain as to its mechanics or specifics... to Deku 3 where they have hopes both Captain America and Iron Man might be found. Illyana, meanwhile, is planning on scrying their exact location using a calling card Shannon had from Captain Rogers. Once the location has been determined, the plan can be refined, but as it stands we appear to be going in in strength with an aim to overwhelm any captors and bring our friends back."

Nightingale has posed:
"Bifrost. I think he called it the Bifrost. The 'Rainbow Bridge' of mythology." For the moment, Shannon falls silent, waiting for Bean to finish his accounting of the events of that afternoon. "He's told the events accurately. When Thor mentioned having to go back to the Avengers mansion to retrieve an item of either Mr. Stark's or the Captain's, I had that car on me. It's been in my possession since oh, about a week after arriving at the school." Her smile is genuine, thinking back to that day. Who would've thought that one small gesture of a calling card would lead to so much?

Turning to Warren, she nods slowly. "One thing he particularly requested was the assistance of a telepath, in the interests of ferreting out the truth behind the whole sequence of events. Miss Grey was the first that came to mind."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty sips her coffee, holding the mug with both hands as she listens. "Excellent, I hadn't heard they'd narrowed it down to a planet. And that also provides some means to get there. We might want to continue to try to get in touch with Lila as well though. Multiple means of transportation could come in handy," she says.

Kitty smiles over to Shannon and Samuel. "Nice job guys. Appreciate you having taken this on and passing the information on. So Illyana has already started on it then with the scrying? I'll see if she can do some mission briefings on her results."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"They haven't yet narrowed it to a planet." Bean cautions, while Bear gives Thereasa a happy grin for the scritch. He's not wearing his vest right now, so there's no harm in giving him a good fuzzle. "They simply seem to think that this particular planet is the best one to start their search on. Significantly, they have no idea how Captain Rogers or Mister Stark were taken, aside from a description of technological portals, and even less idea of why. I think that with Illyana's scrying, we should be able to bypass the whole searching part and go straight to the correct location. At least, Illyana seems to be confident she can get us very close, and I have no reasons to doubt her."

Siryn has posed:
"Might not be a bad idea to have a Teep around. I mean, we don't really now the purpose of that woman showing up to begin with. She seemed pretty peeved when Tony cut her off before she could speak," Terri reasons with a shrug. "Granted it probably wasn't anything good, but knowing details helps. Won't do to go off rescuing people only to find out we're in deeper ca-ca than we thought." A sip of coffee is taken, and she shrugs slightly while letting the others brainstorm more.

Archangel has posed:
"Oh come on, Terri. Any of us could have guessed what she was gonna say." Warren stands up from his seat, tucks his arms under his pecs and pushes up. "I am random glamazon woman warrior from outer space, and I have come to challenge the champions of this world for a shiny rock that I require for my special princess tiara because I'm that too. All men shall bow to me, yada yada..." Releasing his arms, he drops back down into his seat. "Sounds like we're taking a space trip sometime. Make sure your passports are up to date."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon rolls her eyes at Warren's commentary, curling her hands around the mug of coffee and savoring a sip of the restorative brew. "There's always one of those in there somewhere, isn't there?" She can't help a little smile of pride, though, at each of them. Oh, they were all going to make a stand, alright, and it would be together. Her expression sobers, however, when she speaks again.

"One thing Thor also was fairly realistic about were the chances of the two gentlemen coming back unharmed. With Chris gone since a week or so before Christmas, that leaves just one." Her lips are set in a grim line at that thought, but she squares her shoulders, prepared to face whatever had to be done. "Next question is, when are we going, and what do we have to do to prepare?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty nods slowly at Samuel's correction on the planet. "So, could be anywhere in this race's area of controlled space. Which... we'll have to see the map. There's some really, really big empires out there. Let's hope these guys haven't managed to spread very far," Kitty says.

"If we may have to search multiple planets, then transportation remains an issue. Thor and the Bifrost, but if we wanted to have multiple search teams. Which, may or may not be wise. The more we can get on this race, the better," Kitty says. "And we'll bring extra oxygen," she says, though the last is a joke. And no one in the room was on the Moon trip anyway. Plus, if Tony and Cap need oxygen wherever they went, it's probably too late already.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
There's a half smile from Bean at the mention of oxygen. He knows well enough that if oxygen is needed, neither the Captain nor Iron Man are coming back. It's a sobering thought, so he chooses to ignore it for now, focusing on things he can, in fact, influence. "If Illyana can get us a perfect location, I feel there's no need to search elsewhere. Normally I wouldn't recommend assigning the full mission force to a single location, but in this case it might actually be a good idea."

And the question is raised... who is going? At that point, Bean gets a bit defiant. "Considering the original abduction was done through technological means, I'll be going. Even if only to avoid any of us being lost while we go to rescue the ones who were previously lost. As for motive... We won't know until we catch the original abductor. The theory seems to go..." His theory, he doesn't add "... that the abductions were to the furthest limit of the abductor's teleportation potential. If that's true, then we should look for the actual abductor somewhere between Earth and the Khundian Empire."

Siryn has posed:
Theresa Cassidy reaches out to swat Warren's arm at his mocking. "Oye, you never know. Could be anything from 'looking to enslave humanity' to 'harvesting our organs to save their race from an alien virus'," she points out with a shrug. She does crack a grin however, before sobering over the talk of oxygen and travel. "Aye. Would be good to know the atmosphere of where we're going, too. Some of us aren't going to be very useful with no atmosphere."

When the question of who is going comes up she clears her throat lightly. "I'd like to assist if I can." Not an outright 'I'm going' but leaving the option there at least.

Archangel has posed:
Swatted, Warren flops back down in his chair and considers. "My company might have some EVA suits stashed away. What we should be doing is that once we know what planets we're going to be checking, find out what it's like and make sure we're equipped proper. Which may mean needing to contact Alpha Flight to get some space help of that other Captain variety." he offers in suggestion to the group. "And you know, in case Kitty gets us stranded again."

Though when Theresa says she's going, there's a brow lift of surprise. "We'll need to make sure we get you vaccinated from all the space bugs out there." While it's said in a teasing way, his hand reaches to give hers a quick squeeze of reassurance - though not sure for who there.

Nightingale has posed:
Perching on the edge of the table, Shannon gives a little flick of her wings. "I don't think Kitty's going to get any of us stranded. None of us will be left behind." It was just that simple. Stay behind? Not by a long shot! "So what do Bean and I need to do for our part? We'd both of us like to see this through. He's right, a technopath would be very helpful, and if it gets rough out there, the more who are able to help patch you up, the better."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty slowly tips her coffee mug, finishing it off. She sets it down on the table. The mug has a little image of a purple dragon blowing on a coffee mug to warm it. "Alright, sounds like we need to talk to Thor more on planning. And see how the scrying is going for Illyana. Gather equipment. We may or may not need space suits, but definitely would want to have them on hand," she agrees, smiling over to Warren.

"I'll put a mission briefing for the X-men. First priority is recovering our missing of course. Anything else we can find out about Mikonia and these Khundians, and what threat they might pose, the better. But lets get our people back first," she says.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"When would you like us to join that briefing?" Bean asks, entirely deadpan. Meanwhile, the image on the holographic table has be replaced with what may very well be a three dimensional screen saver, or otherwise just the technopath's attempt at amusing himself with the technology he rarely gets to use. Surely there's no need for anyone to play three dimensional pong against himself, right?

"Shannon has made a very good point. There is every chance that both Captain Rogers and Mister Stark need medical assistance when we find them. Under the circumstances, having a healer and other support personnel on hand would be useful." Honestly, if he labors the point any further, it's going to get worn out.

Siryn has posed:
Theresa Cassidy glances at Warren when he takes her hand to flash him a smile. Nothing more is said though: She's already said her peice after all. If she's allowed along she'll certainly help out. A nod of agreement is given though to the sentiments of the others. "In and out retreival is probably the best to consider given we'd be in enemy territory."

Archangel has posed:
"Now is this where I'm supposed to be the voice of reason and hypocrcisy at the same time by reminding Shannon and Samuel that they are students and not X-Men and the idea of them going on a mission where the danger level is //here there be death// is an immensely bad idea, especially if we have to explain to their parents that 'oh sorry, they died on this alien planet while trying to save two Avengers.'?" Warren does not want to be the voice of reason here, but he feels like he should.

"This is not a trip to the moon to get someone. This isn't going to an ocean liner to evacuate it. This is going to what we can only assume is going to be a hostile world with things that can are gonna wanna rip us limb from limb." He frowns. "And damn all of you for making me the responsible adult."

Nightingale has posed:
"There could be death crossing the street, too, or just poking our noses out beyond these four walls. Especially for us, being mutants. Or for those who support us. We might not be X-men yet, this is true, and we're not talking an ocean liner--which is a hostile environment in of itself, by the by. But we're not out, not by a long shot." Shannon's not backing down from this one very easily, and she keeps her eyes right on Warren.

"I know you and probably every other soul in here is trying to protect us. It's just what you do, and you do it well. But you're all family to us, and honestly, even if we're a bit younger, it's risk we accept willingly. We've already faced the same dangers the rest of you have. Ask Bean about telling a Sentinel to 'sit', and having it listen. Look into the case of Winifred Burkle, if you want, or even Thor's brother, to see what I've been able to face and come through. Or ask Kitty or Lorna, or Sam, the things we've faced already. We've got a lot to learn, but please, don't ask us to sit by idly on this one. That's our friends and family going out there."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty says, "We're not quite sure when or where we're going or what the circumstances will be. It's quite possible it won't be something students should go on. Or it might be there might be a need for someone particular. Lets leave that until we know more information, shall, we?"

Kitty glances down at herself and says, "I need one of those Gene Kranz vests right now." She leans forward, hands resting on the table. "Let's focus on the problem. Failure is not an option." She straightens up. "Always wanted to say that," she comments.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"They're fair points." Bean concedes, standing up and patting his leg for Bear to start following him. The holographic table stops displaying, after a brief rendition of Captain America's shield. It seems the technopath is not going to press the point further, nodding to Kitty first and then to Warren.

"At least, Mister Worthington, I can spare you the trouble of having to inform my parents. Good night." And he nods to all gathered, making a very quiet and above all very disciplined exit.

Archangel has posed:
Shaking his head, Warren pushes to his feet. "And that's..." Bean just has to go emo teen on him and he blows out his breath. "Join the club, kid." he snarks, before he's turning away from the others to go get more coffee.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon sighs softly, pinching the bridge of her nose. Yeah, there was bound to be a batch of mac 'n cheese later over this one. "Certainly fair points, but if by some chance we do have to remain behind--once there is more information, of course--please, if some way could be found for us to help? We may be students, but we'd prefer the focus to be on what we -can- do."

A frown of concern is turned Warren's way, and she pushes off the edge of the table, moving over to give him a brief hug, wings and all. "I'll talk to him later. You just said what had to be, it's all good." A similar hug is given to Theresa, and to Kitty as well, and a small smile to each. "Here or there, we back each other up. It's just what we do."
