Karrin Murphy has posed:
The joys of meeting up with friends. Sure, Murph had to dip out on the catching up with the Slayer, andthe folks at the Blue Lady. But....she's here, looking for art. She's got an idea for something. No, it's not for Harry. Far from it. Far far from it. It's for the Blue Lady. So she's here, sticking her nose into the goings on in Salem Center.

Dressed casually, she's shown up here in her leather jacket, t-shirt and jeans, and because she can, sneakers. Casual? Yes. She is five feet of determined SPECTRE cop, and though she's off the clock, she's still got that look about her, the one that says no, don't try anything. Finding a spot to stand, she's just watching the goings on for a moment, checking her phone. That's the third one this month. First one got shot. Harry took care of the second one when it was left on his desk by Karrin. Third one's in her hand. At least it's a neat way to get more use out of newer phones.

Colossus has posed:
It's there in Salem Center that the police officer will have a good angle on keeping an eye on what's passing. It's a quiet suburban area, relaxed. The atmosphere is friendly and the tableau presented this time of year is quaint. There's still old snow piled up along the sidewalks and corners, and a small fresh dusting of flakes that have fallen the last few hours. All in all it presents something like a Norman Rockwell painting, though with more cellphones.
It's there in the shopping area that she'll see the small crowd of people moving. Small crowds of suburbanites moving along the sidewalks, stopping into the bistros for dinner, and then the quaint artisanal shops that seem to be doing a fairly decent business. A glance across the way and she assuredly will find what she's looking for there across the street. At Bennett's Art Emporium.
And out front of that small shop she might well notice as well the rather tall man in the pea coat, smiling to himself as he stands in front of a small rack of clearance books and supplies that had been set outside, even as right at this moment one of the clerks is getting ready to wheel the cart inside.
"Sorry, Pete. You wanna buy any of this stuff you gotta come on inside."
"Da, thank you Gerald." Piotr lifts his head. He definitely is... tall. Dark haired. His features are handsome but with a curious severity to them that doesn't quite reach his blue eyes. Right now he's thumbing through a new pictorial on Rembrandt, though he closes it as the small flakes of snow begin to fall all the harder.
With that he starts into the small shop.

Karrin Murphy has posed:
That's got Murph curious. Karrin steps carefully away from her spot, and looks amused. Looking to the emporium, she heads over there and looks to the crowd. See, she's a cop, and, well, she knows what she's up to, but this. This has got her curiosity piqued. Sure she's contributing to the Norman Rockwell with cellphones vibe, but that in itself would make a fine painting. She's guilty on that count.

Staying on the tedge of the crowd for a moment she slips into it, watching the art emporium, then she slips through the crowd to the front. Being short works fine....sometimes. This is one such time.

"Hey, could you tell me how much one of those paintings is?" she begins. Then she notes the people, and she looks pleased. Oh these people at the art emporium, hey, she may just get what she's after!

Colossus has posed:
At first Piotr looks around. To the left, the right. Then he lowers his gaze a smidge and there is Karrin. She can see the first gleam of recognition, then the slight smile bordering on the apologetic as he gives a small nod to the young woman. "Ah, a print you mean?" He continues on his way into the decently sized shop, but is polite enough to hold the door open for her to precede him should she so wish.
Once inside, however, he steps to the left and begins to walk toward the display wall where some of the great works are on display, brightly lit by a bank of lights so people can get a nice view of them, and then there are some on a rack of metal frames that allows one to peer through them at their leisure.
"Is there a particular artist you are looking for?" His accent is strong, but not as thick as one might see on a tv show starring a moose and squirrel. "Most are twenty dollars. But then you pay most for the frame, yes?"

Karrin Murphy has posed:
There's a nod of thanks to him as Karrin heads in. "Ah....no, no. I was looking for a painting or a print for a friend" she offers simply taking a look around. Glancing to the racks of paintings and prints, she sighs. "I don't know what I want. It's not for me. It's for a friend who enjoys the finer things in life" she says with a glance to the prints on the wall

Colossus has posed:
"Ah," Piotr nods his head though he perhaps doesn't actually understand. Perhaps it is the language barrier, or perhaps he is merely trying to follow along with the young woman's thoughts. He steps beside the rack of prints and rests a hand upon the edge, pushing them apart and the metal frames clacking faintly.
"A good friend?" He asks, eyebrow quirking. "Then perhaps they would be appreciative if you attempting something of your own? For people who have much of the money and able to purchase what they wish... they often find the unique or the gift of your time and effort to be a worthy present."
Then he turns to face her and offers his hand, "Forgive me. I am Piotr Rasputin. I am..." He smiles a little crookedly, "An art instructor, at a school nearby."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
Karrin shakes the hand with a smile. "Karrin Murphy" she says and looks thoughtful. "See, You got a point but I can't draw or paint. Plus if I take things home and draw or paint, it wouldn't end well" she sighs, but still looks over the prints. "Oh no no, it'd look out of place honestly. I'm talking about a guy who owns a business and a 1930s era jazz club. I'm looking for something that'd fit that" she shrugs, "Though, how easy is it to teach somebody art? I'mm always jealous of people who can draw or paint however. Wish I'd learn but life's taken me in a different direction" she sighs. Jealous of painting and drawing, really. Actually it'd help her with her job, too.

Looking to Piotr, Karrin nods, "So how easy is it to pick up drawing and painting?" she wonders aloud, looking like she's got something in mind...though she looks through the rack of prints.

Colossus has posed:
The tall Russian listens to Ms. Murphy and then gives a nod over toward the art supplies area where the tubes of paint and canvas are stored. He starts to walk over in that direction and he tells her. "It is very easy. You go in with no expectation save that you wish to express yourself. Use that as your goal, and you shall never be disappointed."
He uncurls a hand in the direction of some larger brushes and tells her, "For many the act of painting is simply to allow you to try and translate what you think and feel into some form that perhaps you hope will make others think and feel. Perhaps not the same things, yes? But it is mainly the act."
That said he launches into the specifics. "When I have a new class I allow the children to choose their colors, to let them sit down in front of the canvas, and such things they create."
There's a pause as he considers the young woman then, his gaze meeting hers, then lowering as if he were taking her in, before his attention returns to her eyes. "I would give you a brush and three complementary colors. And then together perhaps see what we can bring forth."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
Murph looks over the art supplies for a moment and considers it. "Alright. So, I should sit down and paint my friend things? Huh...do you do public classes?" she asks. That'd bd be perfect, really. A public class. "I don't have room in my apartment for canvas though, so....what would you suggest?" she asks carefully, nodding. "I'd like brushes and colors, yes please" she nods. Okay, next problem. How to fit one Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden on canvas. Or Buffy. Or Thomas, or.....

Ansswer? Needs more canvas, apparently. Karrin looks to Piotr again, watching him. "No expectations. That's me and art all the time" she says gently, willing to setle in and learn art. That's the look in her eyes. She'd like to learn to paint. Or draw

Colossus has posed:
"I..." Piotr starts and something about her seems so earnest, so intent and wishing to make this thing a reality. She can see the disappointment in his blue eyes as he has to tell this small young woman his answer. "Do not, I am afraid." He holds up a hand as if to stay her from the depths of despair.
    "However."
Piotr gestures to the side behind him, toward the counter where the clerks are ringing people up. "There are classes here. Often. All days of the week. For all ages and experience levels. And for beginners all you must bring is yourself and some supplies. Or purchase them here."
The tall man nods with a small smile, "And who knows? Perhaps next time I see you here you will have your own portfolio, yes?" As he says that she might well see a mirror to her own earnestness as he meets her gaze.
But then he says, "Though, at first I would recommend you focus on... abstracts. Attempting to paint feelings, or sensations. To find how the paint moves under the pressure of a brush, and how different colors make you feel. And what is best?"
He straightens up and rests a hand upon a nearby number 7 paint brush. "Here, allow me to buy this for you." He draws the brush from the small circular plastic container. It is not an expensive thing, three dollars. Perhaps more symbolic than anything else.
"And in the future when you are famous I can say that I did so and all will be envious of me." His lip twists into a smile as he starts toward the cash register.

Karrin Murphy has posed:
Karrin grins, "Yeah I'll end up painting at my desk at work" she offers watching him as her phone rings. "Murphy. Yeah, Yeah huh, Where? How...what....why....? I'm not at my desk. No no, I'm off work right....okay" she says looking to Piotr as she slides her phone back into herpocket. She nods. "Sure thing, but I need to run, I got a call I need to attend to" she adds and smiles, "Thank you though for helping, I can sit down when I get home and enjoy this, so"
