Cast of Characters: Colossus, Black Widow (Belova)

Colossus has posed:
The words of Mr. Nevinsky echo in Piotr's mind, carried with his thoughts as he takes his state ordnance designated 45 minute lunch break. Though, this time of the day it's technically not lunch and more early afternoon. Yet it will serve, even if the tall Russian youth does not seem inclined to eat anything.
Instead he sits on the street side bench that looks over the sidewalk and the nearby basketball court. Behind and to the side of him is 'Skovorodka Cafe' with its large sign proclaiming live music and various bright images of Russian dishes displayed with prominence. It's there that Piotr Rasputin sits, feeding small bits of granola to the handful of pigeons that flutter around the bus stop bench. There that he thinks about what Mr. Nevinsky said.
"You are too trusting, Piotr Rasputin. Much too trusting. Your time here with the Americans has drained you from the suspicion and cynicism that is ours by our rights as Russians. Go and think about what has passed."
And so Piotr is there on the street, contemplating. One can even see it in the way he sits with brow heavily furrowed and his blue eyes distanced in thought.

Black Widow (Belova) has posed:
Headphones are a symbol of young people in the modern age. They cut everyone else out. They filter bad music with no real meanings. 'It will rot your brain!' is a refrain. Yelena winds her way down the streei ignorant of these cares. A knit hat slouches over the top of her ears. Wireless earbuds stream into her ears. That's no alt-rock band. No strange classic Indian and jazzy fusion. She goes along to an audiobook with her hands in the pockets of her coat. Paint-spattered cloth pokes out from her backpack of supplies. Its top flap sports a well known museum logo.
"A bright sunshiny day," she sings under her breath. Perhaps not too quiet to be picked up. The spring to her step gets bigger. Slushy streets don't bother her but she cuts through the basketball court to get to the cafe quicker. Its sign brings out a quick smile.
"Look straight ahead, nothing but blue skies!" A hop gets her over a graffitied cement wall. Not so high, springing well. Out comes one of the headphones when she lands. It rests in her hand. Cupping it to her side puts her close to par with the pigeons. "Nyet! Not for you to eat, feathery ones. Have that food, it looks healthier, better for bird tummies." A gentle shooing motion urges them along to the man feeding them.
"That's so nice of you. Lucky birds."

Colossus has posed:
His eyes had followed her as she approached. Not obviously, of course. But an occasional glance that had been accompanied with a hint of curiousity. A look, then the pigeons. Another, then some granola twisted of the end and given to the pigeons. She hops over the wall and he exhales what would be a laugh if he gave it some of his strength.
But instead he looks away until she offers voice and his head turns just enough. "Is it?" His head rocks back a little as he entertains a nod as much as he considers her words.
"It is less my being kind and perhaps it is more that I do not like granola?" Like so many others here in this neighborhood his words are accented with the Motherland's tongue. Though his voice is naturally deep and rumbling.

Black Widow (Belova) has posed:
Yelena scuffs her toe on the concrete to shed some of the slurry stuck to it. Granola bounces away to be preyed on by pointy beaks. The flurry of fat birds is amusing, her smile turning to a grin.
She nods to the man's turned head. Hands stay deep in her pockets. "Better than finding their own food. Where do they get seeds?" A look around takes in buildings, cars, the subway station further on. "I don't like granola so much either. You find a way it doesn't go to waste." She's got the classic accent down to a tee, a little softened. Probably a Muscovite. "I hear the soups there are almost good as home." She nods, the cafe ahead a beacon. "Do you know if that's so?"
