Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Duncan MacLeod, Karrin Murphy

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
The snow hasn't fallen too much this year in Upstate New York, but it has still been chilly. The heater is on in the diner, offering a bit of respite from the chilly evening outside. Not a lot of folks are in the diner right now, save a couple in the far corner booth, and a handful of other locals.

Duncan is the only non-local in here at the moment. The man sits at the counter, chatting warmly with the server as he sips at a cup of coffee and peruses the menu. "So, you're saying the burgers are good?," he asks, pondering. He brushes his fingertip over his chin and furrows his brow a bit.

Karrin Murphy has posed:
The door opens as all five feet zero inches of one Karrin Murphy, cop, comes in. She finagled Mondays off, or this one by a series of shift switches that confused the ever loving hell out of the poor schedulers, and she's come out here. She's on her way up to the Adirondacks, or, would be if she hadn't stopped here. See. Murph's wanting good food.

And coffee.

Dressed in her bike leathers, she's got a pistol at her hip (hers), and strides into the diner like she's got a point to prove. Admittedly...short, and fiery and (at the risk of getting shot for calling her it), cute Karrin settles into a seat at the bar by Duncan. Oh she's not been out here yet. Instead, she's listening. Not eavesdropping. It's not eavesdropping if she doesn't have to try hard, right?

Which is a fancy way of saying she's just taking it all in. Peeking at the menu she orders a burger, fries and a soda, and settles more onto her stool wrapping her ankles around the legs.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
The man glances over as Karrin settles onto a nearby stool, and he offers her a friendly smile. "They're good, apparently," he says, offering the waitress a teasing grin before he offers his menu back to her. "I'll have the same as her, please." His voice is pleasantly deep, though his accent is a bit hard to place. It sounds somewhat British Colombian, but if he IS Canadian, his accent isn't strong.

"New here, too?," he asks curiously, turning to the cop. "I passed through here once before but it was awhile back."

A good while back.

Karrin Murphy has posed:
Murph nods. "Come out here on my way up to the mountans" she offers with a shrug. Which given her height isn't that impressive, but she smiles. "What about you then?" she asks as curiosity in her eyes. Loooking over to the menu, Karrin nods. No changing her order. Nope. Nope.

"I split time between Bloodhaven and New York City" she shrugs, looking restless really with explaining things. Which is good, honestly. It's good and, oh yeah, she's happy to explain things.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"Ah! I'm going north, too. Heading to Vancouver," he explains. "Spent the weekend in New York and heading back."

Her coffee arrives, and he gets a refill. "I split my time, too. I work and live in Vancouver, but I have a place in New York, too. A boat, but still. It helps to get away from everything every once in awhile, you know?"

Karrin Murphy has posed:
Murph nods. "Isn't Vancouver ya know, across Canada. or did they move it?" she jokes, looking amused. Taking her coffee she sips it and nods puling her wallet out. It's got money in it, amazingly enough. "So you got a boat, huh? Okay, see, that makes sense. So what, you just sail around wherever? I'm jealous. All I got's a bike and a car and live quite well"

Which is a good thing. She nods, looking somewhat jealous about the having a boat and sailing wherever. Really. Jealous. Murph jealous is not usually smart...or safe.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He grins. "It is. But we have the teleporter up there, and it makes things easier." Canada has a cool teleporter! Lots of places do. "Helps me get across the country pretty easily. Just need to get to it."

"I sail it sometimes, sure. It is the main way I relax these days, especially considering I run two different businesses back in Vancouver. The relaxation is needed.

He turns towards her and offers his hand, which has he callouses of someone who fights, or who has quite a bit in the past. "Duncan."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
"So much for road trips" Murph muses with a weary sigh. "I should just get a teleporter, right?" she asks jokingly, taking the offered hand. "Karrin, but I just get called Murph a lot. See. I want a boat, but no way my guy would ever go for one" she shrugs. Oh no, no way she's willingly letting a wizard who burns buildings down frequently, near a boat. Nope. Not happening. Harry's got his Bug. That's good enough!

Looking over Duncan, and more to the point, up to him, Murph nods. "So you run businesses. Okay, makes sense. Explains how you afford the boat" Karrin says with a nod. "You know, I'm waiting on the burgers really. Decided to bring my bike out here to give it a run" she admits.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
"Oh, sometimes I make the full trip," he says with a grin. "Hard not to, sometimes. I enjoy the open road. Sometimes I take the teleporter. Depends on if I'm worried about work or not.

He nods with a chuckle. "An antique store and a dojo, actually. I only got the dojo recently. Came into it from a friend," he explains.

Karrin Murphy has posed:
"I'd usually take the trip. Though, seven foot guy driving little Bug....yeah no" Karrin giggles, "Now you know why I got my bike, right?" Karrin asks with a smirk listening. "Ah the whole road trip. It's beautiful honestly. You know when you come around a corner, and see the scenery all out before you" she wonders, listening.

"Antiques and a dojo? Odd mix" Karrin says with a smile. "I wouldn't have put those two words together really, or businesses, but do they both work?" she nods, listening keenly, looking up and down the bar, sipping her coffee while she listens to Duncan.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He chuckles and nods as the food arrives. "Definatly an odd mix," he says in agreement. "I opened the store, and the dojo kind of...fell into my lap, I guess." Duncan nods as she talks about the road trip, smiling softly. "I know exactly what you mean."

He considers and then nods. "Well, the shop does alright. We have the main storefront which sells the basic things. Tables, chairs, old clocks, all that stuff. Then I sell to specific collectors also. Mostly antique weaponry and armor and the like to those folks. That's what keeps the doors open."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
Okay, point for making it inteeresting. "So, huh....okay, that's actually interesting. I figured it was old paintings and such" Karrin admits with a nod. "You know, like on the TV or movies, old paintings, boxes covered with cloth, that sorta thing" she nods. Okay, Murph's been doing way too much reading.

Shaking her head, Karrin grins, "Okay, so" Karrin points out, biting into the burger, quiet while she eats. Which is taking her concentration really. She sips her coffee and looks pleased, then to Duncan again, back to her food.

Duncan MacLeod has posed:
He smiles. "Well, I sell those too, but...it isn't my specialty. Something like that would be sold out of the main shop, sure."

He works idly on his food as they talk. "What about you? Judging from the gun you're a cop, because open-carry isn't really a thing for non-cops in this state."

Karrin Murphy has posed:
"Yeah, I'm a cop. I work with the spook squad" Murph shrugs. "Got the weekend off. Figured I'd ride out up in the mountains for a while" she offers with a nod looking to Duncan, working more on her burger and fries. Watching Duncan there's a quiet look in her eyes. "So hmm....you got antique things right?" she asks looking like she's up to things.
