Lunch with Kaida
Date of Scene: 04 February 2020
Location: Kitchen - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Kaida and Gwen talk over lunch
Cast of Characters: Kaida Connolly, Dragonfly (Armenteros), Pixie

Kaida Connolly has posed:
Currently the kitchen is occupied by one, Kaida. She is having a small cheese plate that she created while she reads a textbook. She casually walks along the page, reading it by standing on it and looking down. She smiles as she nibbles at the cheddar, enjoying the afternoon.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
After a morning of classes, the most important thing for Gwendolyn, besides studying for the math test that's coming at the end of the week, is getting something in her belly. One of the advantages of being both a teenager and a member of the New Mutants is that exercise is a fairly costant thing in her world, so she can eat pretty much whatever she likes and still maintain her svelte 120 pounds without having to do much extra. Pushing through the door into the kitchen she slings her backpack on the counter assigned for such things and pads to the refrigerator, stopping to wave at Kaida. "Hey there." She chirps cheerfully, pulling the door open to grab several slices of bacon - nearly a half pound - and lays them out on a foil-lined baking sheet, throwing them into the oven for ten minutes at 350F. "Wha'cha reading?"

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A smile and she waves back before reading more. She walks back and forth as she looks over the work, "A book on the biochemical reactions that take place in the human brain." She nods her head as she walks back and forth upon the book. She looks over the book a moment later before she looks over to Gwendolyn, "That's a lot of bacon." SHe grins and nods her head, "I don't even eat that much of it at once." She laughs, "And I eat a lot."

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
It's thick cut, so yeah, she may be overdoing it, but bacon tends to attract people so it's more of a method of ensuring she gets enough rather than eating it all for herself. "It's not all for me. It's a safety thing." Gwendolyn says with a grin, explaining her train of thought. "I'm really probably going to only eat, like, four slices, and even then, it's on a sandwich so..." She shrugs. "More bacon as a happy surprise for whoever comes into the kitchen next, I suppose."

Biochemical reactions in the brain? Gwendolyn makes a 'huh' sound and nods. "I recognize some of those words..." she says in a deadpan tone before breaking into giggles. "Man, that's some heavy reading at lunch." That also begs the question - how did she /get/ that book up there anyway?

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A look over at her and she grins, "Well, in that case, I'll help!" She chuckles and nods her head as she then looks back down at her book and then looks up and laughs, "I wouldn't necessarily expect anyone to get it all." She laughs as she looks down at the book a moment before she hops off of it, places a bookmark and then picks up one side and swings it shut. She then lands on the top of the book and sits on the edge of it like a chair, "So, what are you up to besides bacon makin'?"

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Peering through the smoked glass, Gwendolyn lifts her visor for a second to look with her eyes sans visor, lowering it after a second, with a wince. Her eyes are a crystalline blue that's actually very pretty, but instead of actual eyes, she has multiple lenses, like insect eyes. Explains the antenna and the nickname of Dragonfly she's got going around. "Besides this? Not much at all. Doing a lot of remedial stuff to catch up. Before I got here I was basically homeless. Parents didn't like the whole 'daughter has insect eyes and antenna' sort of thing so I came up here by pure luck." She sits on one of the stools by the counter, more easily able to talk to the scampering Kaida.

Disney Princess? Kind of, I guess!

"After I finish bacon and sandwich that will have bacon in it...really not much of anything. Maybe go for a run. Maybe take a nap. Maybe make something sweet. Maybe knit something..." She trails off, looking over the little mouse with the dark green cloak. "I could always knit you something, if you wanted to change your style a little."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A smile and then she shrugs, "Maybe I should change but these clothes have memories." She smiles and nods, "A whole two sets were made by a nice old woman in the building I stayed in before this." She nods her head, "I still visit them from time to time. They were good people. Homeless and yet not becauses we had a building to call home." She laughs, "They call it squatting but anyway." She nods her head as she looks over at her cheese plate and picks somet up before gesturing, "You can have some."

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
"I've done that." Gwendolyn says, opening the oven and turning the strips of bacon inside with a pair of tongs, closing it and standing, wiping her face with both hands from the heat. "Squatted. Not a lot of fun, but you have to get out of the weather sometimes. Down south, it wasn't so bad, but as I moved north in the winter? Pretty miserable, let me tell you." Preaching to the choir. "Just let me know." She says, taking her seat again, reaching over to snag a bit of the cheese, popping it into her mouth. "I have a need to create. I made a couple of scarves for people for Christmas and I'm in the mood to make something."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A laugh and she nods, "I appreciate that and I'm totally ok with that." She nods her head as she smiles at her and then takes a bit of a cheese and nibble at it before saying, "Well, we were lucky. The place we had didn't have power but it was well insulated and no one seemed to bother us much. We had to hide once from people inspecting it but otherwise no big deal." She shakes her head, "Just a nice quiet place to sleep and live." She shrugs, "Not perfect but nothing much is perfect for a girl the size of a mouse."

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
"Forgive me for asking but.." Gwendolyn compses herself, brushign off invisible dust from her shirt. "If you don't want to answer I totally respect that, but...were..." Gwendolyn gestures towards Kaida. "Was your entire family mice and you just ended up...smart?" It's a legitimate question

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A blink and then she starts laughing and shaking her head, "No no, but that's funny." She states simply enough and then she leans forward on her book perch, "No, I was smart and then I became a mouse girl." She nods her head as she grins and shakes her head a little, "That's funny though." She nods her head before shrugging and patting the book.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Okay then. The laughter from the little mouse causes Gwendolyn to smile. The irriational fear of a horde of intelligent mice living somewhere in New York, Secret of Nimh style, is totally unfounded. "I suppose it's probably easier to go one way than the other." The bacon comes out of the oven, the strips removed from the pan and placed on paper towels to drain. "Sorry. I'm sure you get that question all the time, just like I do with the antenna. and no, I can't get PPV on these things."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A smirk and she shakes her head, "You're funny." She states and then she idly leans on to her knees and hmms, "THough I suppose in a lot of ways that might have made more sense or be easier." She chuckles, "And I don't really care about the antenna or whatever." She smirks and laughs a little, "Once you're a mouse, you have a hard time caring about other people's quirks."

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Gwendolyn grins. "You, I like you." She taps her nose with a smile, retrieving lettuce, tomato, bread, and mayonnaise from their various spots, taking a little bit to assemble a very nice looking BLT. "You probably get into all sorts of cool adventures, and can see all sorts of things that I'd never believe." And heck, Kaida would be the cheapest of cheap dates. Go to a movie in a pocket, eat a handful of popcorn and be satisfied.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
Getting up, she walks ove rand picks up a whole piece of bacon and then eats it carefully, "Not as many as I'd like but I do have a few fun things I've done." She nods her head and laughs a ltitle as she chews and then looks over to Gwendolyn, "I do get into places where I don't usually belong but I do like to go where I'm not wanted half the time." She laughs and nods her head.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
"See?" Gwendolyn says with a smirk, putting mayo on her sandwich. "That's why I make extra bacon." Four slices are broken in half and laid across the bread, along with two good-sized leaves of lettuce and a thick slice of tomato. "Half the time, huh?" She giggles. "So the other half you're going around, stealing secrets to sell to the KGB or something?"

Pixie has posed:
Yay, it's lunchtime and Megan is totally relieved to take a break from exams and stuff..And she also has to totally thank Kaida and Gwen for helping her remake that batch of chocochip cookies after craziness the other day. Which is hard when you're not a very talented cook but..! She practically skips into the kitchen, carrying a super cute and sparkly WINX backpack on one shoulder, as well as two cute gift boxes wrapped in sparkly pink and silver paper with big bright white bows on top and beams when she sees the pair of them. "Hiii you guys! Just who I was looking for!"

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A blink and she gasps, "You think I am doing things that are untoward?!" She says in a rather pearl-clutching way as she puts her hand to her neck. She then looks over at Megan and waves, "Hi!" She eats more of her bacon before she tilts her haed, "You were looking for us?" She hmms as she eats the bacon before she then looks to Gwendolyn as if wondering what she knows before looking back to Megan.

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
\
"Why miss Kaida, I would never say such a thing, I do declare." Gwendolyn actually manages to put on a Southern twang as she says that, giving Megan a cheerful wave. "Enough bacon for another sandwich if you want it, Megan. Kaida's already had her slice." The look Kaida gives her is followed by a shrug from Gwendolyn. She obviously has no clue why Megan was looking for them. "If it's bad, I had no part of it. If it's good, I totally planned everything and...um..." She gestures towards the pink-haired fairy. "What's up? What's with the super-shiny present?"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn ooohs, wings fluttering more quickly as she eagerly descends upon food..Heey all that fluttering and Pixie dust and jumping around requires a lot of energy to run on. "Woow, you guys, you're sooo awesome!" she giggles, offering the bigger gift box to Gwen, the slightly smaller one (but still bigger than mousegirl) is handed to Kaida. "I just wanted to thank you for helping me rebake those cookies the other day after those nasty...Whatever they weres totally trashed the place..And y'know what? I totally got an A for the first time in home ec! I'm soooo happy!" she giggles, wings fluttering more quickly, but she is careful not to spew any fairy glitter on anyone.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A blink and then she finishes off her slice quickly and then whines, "Only one slice?" She huffs and then she grins and looks over at Megan with a smile, "Oh, wow!" She reaches up with arms stronger than they should be and moves her box to beside herself and looks it over, before hopping on top to open teh ribbon. She then hops off and pushes the box up and off. She then looks down at the things inside and grins, "Oh! Cupcakes!"

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
Not just one. There's like half a pound of bacon. Ten slices at least! Plenty for two sandwiches and a few for the mouse, too. "Oh! Thank you." Gwendolyn takes the offered box and sets it down on the counter, watching as the mouse hefts a box considerably larger than she is, giggling as she opens the box. "Oooh, cupcakes. Thank you, Megan."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn beams as she settles down and starts making herself a sandwich with all that bacon, "Woow, were you expecting company or something?" she cant help but peer curiously at Kaida as she says that, because mousegirl seems to have quite the appetite inspite of her size. Or maybe because of her size..? "Yeah, it was really strange actually..I've never been much of a poet but..All these words just came to me, it was like, like I was inspired by a muse or something..." she sighs dreamily, "Heey, do you think muses could exist? Wouldn't that be cool?" heey, with everything else that exists, it's not impossible..Right?

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A smile is given to the pair and then Kaida grabs another piece of bacon and nods, "Excellent." She then starts snacking on it and hmms, "I think she was expecting other students." She nods, "And she was right." She gestures at Megan before laughing a little and then holds the bacon between her teeth and slides the box shut before sitting on it. She then goes back to nomming on bacon and looks more directly at Megan, "I don't know." She shrugs, "I suppose if talking mouse girls and tiny wise cracking ugly things can exist, then anything is possible?"

Dragonfly (Armenteros) has posed:
"Let's see, since getting here i've met Captain America, we know Thor is a thing, and there are probably other Gods (capital G) that we've not been exposed to, forgotten, or haven't even heard of so Muses?" Gwendolyn grins. "Muses aren't entirely out of the realm of possibility. Probably hard to find, though, withouts special scientific means or...I don't know.." She takes a bite of her sandwich, wanting to save the cupcakes for later. "Sacrifice a chicken or something."
