Synopsis: Chit chat and BAMFing!
Cast of Characters: Nightcrawler, Nightingale

Nightcrawler has posed:
The nice thing about a private school by a lake is in winter, the kids with ice powers can smooth out the surface so that others can skate. So there are plenty out, some using skates, some adaptations of their abilities.

Kurt is watching, chaperone with a small fire going in front of him to keep warm, a few bottles of soda (there's kids present!) and some hotdogs being roasted. For the most part he doesn't have a care in the world; after all if there's an accident who else could get there faster to help?

Nightingale has posed:
For all her increasing agility in the air, the mansion's resident winged healer is perhaps a bit less so on the ice. But if she could conquer the skies, surely this wouldn't be so bad, would it? Nope!

     Famous last words.

Not too terribly far off, one can almost see it happening in slow motion. There's the flailing of the arms, the outspread wings in a bid to arrest her fall, and then... -THUD-. Right onto her backside, in a very undignified position on the ice. Thankfully, the ice holds, and Shannon only goes sliding a little bit. She's in some dark blue jeans, her favorite caramel velveteen parka, a wine-colored tunic sweater, her red and white striped 'Where's Waldo' hat, and what looks to be some new white ice skates.

Nightcrawler has posed:
Watching still, seeing the fall - but it's a fall, on ice while trying to skate. Unless it's a break, or the person is clearly in pain Kurt remains as is. Half smirking at some of the tumbles, remembering when he was trying to get used to some things growing up... A bent tail is nothing to laugh about, if you have a tail.

Lifting a camp-pot from a rock at the fire, a cup of coffee is poured, sipped. Not a bad day really. Hands folded he considers a few tricks, then rethinks, considering all the snow to be coated with sooty remnants of the indigo smoke.

Nightingale has posed:
The only thing that seems to be in pain is Shannon's pride. Her face is beet red as she slowly, carefully manages to get to her feet again. There was something of a sheepish grin on her face; nobody saw that, right? Or at least, hopefully she wasn't turned into a meme this time? As no phones seemed to be in evidence, it seems what remains of her dignity is left intact. Taking those shreds of pride with her, she manages to stumble-skate towards the nearest source of warmth--the campfire by the edge of the lake.

A smile and a wave is offered to Kurt. "Guten Tag, Herr Wagner! Room for one more at the fire?"

Nightcrawler has posed:
"Always, ja..." motioning for her to take up one of the camp chairs while he sips his drink, watching the kids still. "I think I prefer winters in Germany. But I was in Bavaria where it wasn't so bleak looking, ja?" Kurt nods watching as one of the telekinetics keeps a younger student on their skates, nodding to himself while his tail carefully places a new log on the fire, tending it with a poker.

"How goes the studies eh?"

Nightingale has posed:
"Fairly well, though I'm not too optimistic on that last math test." The wrinkle to her nose tells the tale of a subject well-loved. Or not. Rubbing her hands together, she settles down in one of the camp chairs, and holds her palms out to drink in the warmth of the fire. "What were winters like over there?" she enquires, quirking her brows slightly. "Though it's not so bleak with friends here, true?"

A light smile tugs the corners of her mouth upwards, and her wings ruffle just ever so slightly. "Other than that, the past couple weeks have been... eventful. But what about you?"

Nightcrawler has posed:
A moment to consider the first question, "Cool, snow, but not as much as this." brow knitting together "Friends or no, much of the winter in America is cold and miserable." half smirking then Kurt nods a little to himself before warming his coffee cup. "You know if you put something on the back of your wings and then hold them open they'd become a heat catch, like an emergency shelter." a side thought before her next question.

"Quiet. I had to attend... family business after all that talk of helping out Captain Rogers... I need to focus on something, improve my abilities or my control. Younger and younger students come every month it seems that do what I do, but better."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon tilts her head a little bit, and just smiles. "This is going to sound very strange coming from me, but someone told me recently not to compare myself to others when it comes to my music. It seems a little bit like you comparing your gifts with others." There is a brief pause, and she peers over at Kurt. "Is there any way I could help you?

The idea of an emergency shelter from her wings has the teen smiling, and she cants her head slightly to one side. "You know, that's not a bad idea. Maybe I should add something for that to my little brown bag."

Nightcrawler has posed:
Kurt's brow knits and he shakes his head, "I can do more. I can move people, but it hurts them. It's tiring..." lips pursing, "Father can do it with ease... he has better control. Maybe because I'm just half. But I could do more, if I could do it better." The fuzzy blue elf blows out a sigh and looks out at the kids, "Any of them gets hurt, I can go to them, then run with them because I could kill them trying to save them."

Nightingale has posed:
Furrowing her brows, Shannon tries to give it some thought. "I don't fully understand how your gifts work," she begins. "Is it anything like Illyana with her portals, going through another dimension?" Which would explain a lot, actually. She can't help worrying for Kurt, and to a degree, understanding his dilemma.

"In a way, I feel very similar to you. I can get to someone out there and heal them if they're injured. If it were one of the much younger students, I might even be able to fly them back to the mansion. But right now, my gifts have their limits. Even though there's hope to work beyond them--which I just might talk to the Professor about next time I see him--it still hurts to think of the things I can't do. But I know I can get better." She smiles over at him, tilting her head. "We all can work to improve. If there is a way, will you allow me to help you?"

Nightcrawler has posed:
"She uses magic. Mine is... Natural. I'm part of two dimensions at once, but I can't stay in the other longer than needed to move on this one." Kurt sighs, "And as you get older, if Warren is an example you're going to be flipping cars eventually." tail flicking as a hotdog is slid into a bun and offered to Shannon.

Nightingale has posed:
Grinning, Shannon accepts the hot dog, raising it in salute. "Danke." There is companionable silence for a few moments as she takes a bite of the still-sizzling hot dog, enjoying the snap of the casing and the delightfully smoky flavor from the campfire. "I've been working on the strength training and it's done a lot of good so far, but strength like his?" She purses her lips, thinking for a moment. "I'm sixteen and some months, and here hasn't been any hint of higher than normal strength yet. Do gifts emerge this late?"

Two dimensions at once. She'd seen Kurt bamf'ing, and any who had been in the vicinity for the aftermath knew well the acrid aroma of the indigo smoke that followed, very much like descriptions of brimstone. "That explains the smoke, some of the other dimension following you back through. How is it you'd want to improve, and how can folks help you get there?"

Nightcrawler has posed:
Kurt Wagner shrugs "Still working that out. I may talk to Charles, see if he can... I guess look inside and help me determine what I need." a hot dog for himself now, munching slowly before looking to Shannon. Maybe.

No pupils.

"Fly more, for longer. You have two sets of pectoral and trapezoidal muscles if I remember right. It's like running or weight lifting. Doesn't come unless you work it out."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and smiles. "I'll have to stop taking the bus to Bushwick, then. Maybe run some obstacle courses in the DR, or carrying weights while I'm flying. Or organize races with some of the other flyers in the school." Seeing for the moment, though that there wasn't much she could do to help Kurt, she sighs lightly. He had reached out so many times to help her, and it rankled that she couldn't do the same. "If I run into the Professor before you do, I could let him know you'd like to talk to him?"

Nightcrawler has posed:
"If you'd like yes, there's a lot of talk going on for a telepath, I'm sure my thoughts get lost in the mix easy. Feel free to let him know if you see him." Kurt nods, "And those are good ideas. Longer and longer distance flights, weights. Just don't overdo it, ja?" tail flicking slowly back and forth as he looks back to her. "Just takes time."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods and smiles somewhat. "I'll try not to. Of course, it helps if I don't get my wings busted up again, either." Her smile widens as she catches sight of his tail flicking back and forth, and she can't suppress a light giggle. "Better hope my kitten doesn't meet you and take that for a toy," she quips, her eyes twinkling with mirth.

Nightcrawler has posed:
"It happens plenty enough. Kittens and puppies chase tails. Babies and toddlers yank. You get used to it." half grin still in place while Kurt's attention goes back to the kids out on the lake, skating and enjoying themselves. "I'd try to flag down Warren for sure too. He'd know best how to work with those wings and how to strengthen them."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods once, finishing up her hot dog and looking back out over the lake. "I can try, but he's not always easy to get a hold of. Last time I saw him was when Bean and I reported to him and Kitty to update them on Thor's visit." She pauses, nibbling her lower lip a little bit. "Has there been any word on the situation since?"

Nightcrawler has posed:
Kurt Wagner shakes his head "No idea. I'm just a liaison, not a primary SHIELD or Avengers member." looking down as his phone beeps. "Speaking of liaison-ing..." standing up. "Keep an eye on the kids, ok? Till my replacement comes in." A teacher command. But not a... You know he's a councilor and an X-Man. Deal with it.

BAMF!
