The Amazing Flying Jubilee!
Date of Scene: 12 February 2020
Location: Danger Room - X-Men Base
Synopsis: Warren and Jubilee go on a flight!
Cast of Characters: Jubilee, Archangel

Jubilee has posed:
As Jubilee steps into the Danger Room, she's zipping up a black flight jacket. "It's always so cold in here. Except when the floor's lava." She hops a little to warm up, and takes a stroll around the room, looking at the controls. "You fly in herhere often?"

Archangel has posed:
"Yeah, especially in the winter, when it's cold outside. I do a few flights outside, I mean, missions never decide on a time or temperature, right?" Warren asks as he moves to stand next to Jubilee, before reaching into his pocket of his jacket, and he pulls out... a pair of aviator goggles. "You may want these." he says as he grins at her. He waits until she slips the goggles on... or not... and then...

"Danger Room, run program Warren Train 9." The room shifts and changes and suddenly, the ground just //disappears// and the pair of them are in free fall as the clouds rush by!

Jubilee has posed:
"I'm gonna look like a buuuug," Jubilee laments, as she pulls the goggles down onto her head and over her eyes. "Don't you need goggles?" she asks, looking like a bug as she looks up at him. "It's just as dangerous for you, right?"

Archangel has posed:
As the ground falls away, Warren opens his wings and moves to catch Jubilee in his arms to keep her close. "Actually, part of my mutation makes me immune to such things... I have the build of a bird." he admits, and then sobers. "When I was changed..." made into Archangel, he means, "...Apocalypse further modified me so I could handle the speeds I can reach. It basically means I have little trouble in any weather conditions." He glances aside of her, because knowing he was changed is usually a turn off.

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee wraps her arms around Warren and holds tight...PROBABLY a little tighter than she should have to, but one can never be too careful. "Don't look away. We're all different from what we used to be." Jubilee is looking up at him, her expression sympathetic, if still a little buggy. "Stop frettin', all right? We're flyin', how cool is THAT?"

Archangel has posed:
There's a laugh from Warren as he keeps his grip on Jubilee so that she doesn't feel uncomfortable. "I fly every day, Jubilee." he points out, perhaps missing out on the every day miracle of it all. And then he takes her higher, doing a loop in the sky, circling back down to lead her to where a cloud is floating lazily. "Go ahead..." he offers to her encouragingly. "...it feels just like a real cloud."

Jubilee has posed:
Reaching a hand out, Jubilee swipes it through the cloud. "Whoa...this is magic! Is it like this out in the real sky? God, you're the luckiest guy EVER...To be able to fly? I can't even imagine! Or...well I couldn't till right now..."

Archangel has posed:
Smiling, Warren watches Jubilee as she takes it all in wonder as he ducks into the cloud, bringing her within and then down through the other side as he continues to lead her through it all. "Tell you what. Next time we do this, I'll get you a wingsuit. It's more like falling with finesse, but it's as close as you can get to flyring without being in a plane. I do lessons for new students in them, a little treat before doing actual flight training."

Jubilee has posed:
"You'd drop me??" Jubilee tenses and holds on tighter to Warren. "Will you catch me before I hit the ground? You'll definitely catch me, right? I know you will." She shudders slightly at the thought. "How high? Like from a cloud?"

Archangel has posed:
"I said next time, I wouldn't drop you unless you wanted me to." Warren corrects with a grin at her. "Not that I mind you being closer to me." he admits quietly. At this closeness, she can smell the cologne and soap that he uses. The scents of leather and sandalwood come off of him as he continues to carry her at a leisurely pace. "When you're ready, we'll try some freefalling, alirght?" His eyes meet hers again and he smiles, stealing a quick kiss.

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee looks up at Warren after he kisses her, looking a little puzzled. And maybe a little dizzy. "You're Mr. Perfect...Bet you have chicks come flying with you all the time. You...I mean. You're practically some kinda....Angel." She's talking herself in a circle. "Why would you...I mean why me?"

Archangel has posed:
"Let me ask you this. Why do you think not you?" Warren asks with a frown as he considers her. Flying up for a moment, he spreads his wings out fully to catch air to hold the pair of them there. "You're attractive, you're upbeat. You do a lot to help." He glances down. "And you know, you didn't exactly hide that you were looking at me earlier. But if you want me to stop, I will. And I apologize."

Jubilee has posed:
"Jubes' brow furrows for a moment, thinking. "No, I mean...I guess I just didn't expect it. It isn't exactly like every chick out there doesn't LOOK at you..." She laughs and shakes her head. "No...No, I just. I was surprised, that's all." She smiles and hugs Warren.

Archangel has posed:
Returning her hug, Warren chuckles. "One thing to look, another thing to make the first move. That was pretty impressive, Miss Lee." comes the response before he smiles and turns his wings to continue their flight. "And I admit, I was looking too. And you looked nice in that leotard.

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee blushes pink and hides her bug-eyed face against Warren's chest. "I think I was brave cause I figured you'd laugh it off. Maybe brave really just got me out there all shameless and silly, hmm?" She gives his bicep a playful squeeze.

Archangel has posed:
"Just depends on what we decide to do next with the knowledge." Warren points out as he lazily rolls over then takes her higher. After a several moments, he comes to a halt in the air, and whispers to her. "Take a look."

When she does, he's turned so that the world is spread out like a patchwork blanket below them. Wisps of clouds hang lazily below them, and the squared off areas of farm land and the dots of towns below stand out. "Best view anywhere. Well..."

"....other than looking in front of me.'

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee exhales, breathlessly taking in the sight below. "It's...gorgeous. It's just like the real thing." She looks up at Warren and smiles brightly. "Thanks. Thank you for bringing me here. For showing me this. Everything. Even how to open up. A little...." She qualifies it with her fingers held up, an inch apart.

Archangel has posed:
"You, open? Never." Warren teases. And assuming by her words that she's ready to return to Earth, as it were, he announces, "End simulation." The room shimmers, and they are back on solid ground again. Which means he can slowly release her. "Like I said, we'll do this again... if you want." he shrugs his shoulders. "I'm glad you enjoyed it."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee looks up at Warren, and her face is practically unreadable. "I...I kinda think you're amazing. And this...this was amazing." She looks at him for a long time. Her eyes are full of conflict, despite the happiness that shines in them. "You aren't what I expected. You're kind...and gentle. And you're honest, and true to yourself...even if you don't believe in yourself as much as you should, maybe. Has anyone ever told you that?"

Archangel has posed:
"All the time. The confidence? That's for the public, Jubes." Warren admits with a frown, before he lets her go, folding his hands in front of him. "When I first got these wings... my original ones? I tried my best to get rid of them. I didn't want to be a mutant. I thought if I cut them off, I'd be normal. And just as I started to embrace what I was... my parents were trying to cure me. And then my uncle had them killed to try to take away my company." he sighs. "It's not a fun story, especially where we get to the wings really being cut off and all. So yeah, a few hits in the confidence."

But he waves it off. "And here you are, trying to be a counselor and all. I was trying to cheer you up because you don't think you're worth someone paying attention to you, and I disagree with that. You are worth it. And if anyone says otherwise, they aren't paying attention to the real you." He gives her a smile, his eyes giving a light blue twinkle.

Jubilee has posed:
Stepping closer, Jubilee lifts a hand to touch his cheek. "Hey..." The word is quiet. Almost whispered. "I know you've been through it as much as any of us. More than many. You do a good job of putting up a brave front. But you don't have to be brave with me. Just be you. Because it can get awfully exhausting, trying to be something you aren't at any given moment. You ARE brave. And confident. And fantastically handsome," she adds with a light laugh. "But it's you I like. Not the brave front. Not the wings. Well...not JUST the wings." She winks.

Archangel has posed:
"You know, Jubilee, you're making me want to ask you if you want me to walk you home. And that's a dangerous concept." Warren says with a soft chuckle, tilting his cheek into her touch as his hand finds her free one to give it a squeeze. "Especially when you say you like me. Because I like you too." he shrugs his shoulders at her. "And I thought I was being me with you. As you were with me. Because the Jubilee I know would have never suggested that she wasn't completely gung ho about anything."

Jubilee has posed:
"It's raining outside. I dunno if you wanna walk in the rain. But I have the Jeep here. I live out by the lake. It'd be a long cold walk in the rain. And then we'd be wet. But if you wanted, I'd walk in the rain. With you, anyway. Or y'know, we could Jeep it." She grins, pulling off the goggles.

Archangel has posed:
"Whichever works. It's a pretty cold and wet rain, though." Warren points out. "However." Lifting his wing, he twists it slightly, and it makes an umbrella for her. "Tada." he says with a grin at her. "I mean, but the Jeep may be the warmer option, but walking gives me more time with you. But... I don't want you getting sick. So the Jeep."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee thrusts out a hand to give him the goggles back. "To the Jeep, then! We'll walk sometime when it's not cold and rainy, with cold, wet rain." She nods definitively. "And I shall bring you to my abode and you shall partake of the...uh. I have cereal? And...spaghettios."

Archangel has posed:
"Sounds like quite a feast. Is that what you plan to make Friday?" Warren asks with a playful lift of a brow as he takes the goggles back to put them away and moves to follow after Jubilee to her jeep and the trip to her cabin.

Jubilee has posed:
Winding through the building and toward the exit, there is a bounce in Jubilee's step. She spins around to face Warren, walking backwards to keep facing him. "Noooo, I figured on having fudgecicles and wine. But now I think I need to learn how to make steaks and stuff. And I need to buy food. And...wine glasses or something. Because I don't think plastic Lord of the Rings goblets from Burger King are gonna cut it, this time."

Archangel has posed:
"I could order something delivered, you know?" Warren suggests, and starts to lift his hand every time it looks like she's about to trip. "So you're going for the full romance thing, huh?" he asks in a teasing lit. "And what movie will we be watching after such a fine feast?"

Jubilee has posed:
"...and a few new movies. Unless you like Batman movies." She shrugs. "Guilty pleasures." She seems to have a knack for keeping on her feet and narrowly avoiding the pitfalls of walking backward. "But no no...I am going to learn to cook something special. And no jello this time. Not after last time..."

Archangel has posed:
"Did you make a jello monster?" Warren asks, amusement in his tone as he moves to open the door for her this time. "And hmm. No, not a fan for the Batman movies. Especially when the real thing is far more interesting." he admits with a chuckle. "Maybe we could get a scary movie." So she can hug him when she gets scared? Maybe.

Jubilee has posed:
"We could get a scary movie!" The idea seems to go over well. "Last time I made jello, it turned into chunky peach soup," she says, crinkling her nose and moving out the door, fishing in the pocket of her black cargo pants for her keys. "But it tasted horrible with crackers."

Archangel has posed:
"Wait. You turned jello into soup?" Warren is laughing at this out-right. "Alright, I'm going to trust you to cook." But he's going to have pizza on speed-dial, JUST IN CASE. "And I'm not sure if I should be terrified or not that you tried to eat it."

Jubilee has posed:
"Well, it was just runny. And chunky. It didn't set up. So it was...soupy. And crackers go in soup." She shrugs. "Race ya!" And with that, she's off like a shot toward the copper penny-colored Jeep in the parking lot. There aren't many vehicles left. And it is certainly the only Jeep.

Archangel has posed:
Warren considers, and then he cheats. His wings come open, and with a quick flap, he takes to the skies, even knowing he's going to get soaked as he lands next to the Jeep and gives her a grin. "I didn't hear a wager involved, or a prize for the winner of the race."

Jubilee has posed:
"Cheeeeater!" Jubilee laughs and quickly unlocks the doors and opens the passenger side. She pulls the back off the passenger seat and tosses it in the back seat, before turning, stealing a frantic kiss, and trotting around to her side. "There, you still got the prize, she chides, as she shuts her door and starts the engine. At least with no back to his seat, there's room for those wings. Hopefully.

Archangel has posed:
When she kisses him, Warren's the one caught off guard and his wings actually stiffen for a moment. And after a second, he was returning her kiss before she pulls away. "Wow." he manages, an echo of her earlier word before he's moving around to settle into the Jeep's passenger seat, keeping his wings pulled in close to not obstruct. "I actually had my cars that my drivers use modify the back seat for when I need to ride to work instead of flying."

Jubilee has posed:
"Well, I mean...living here...working here...I never know who I might have to cart around, so I have seats that can be modified in a number of ways. Just so anyone will fit. Except that kid who turns into a bird. He just fluttered all over the Jeep till we got to the tournament. Good gymnast. But really flighty."

Archangel has posed:
"I promise not to flutter unless you find a way to make me." Warren teases as he glances aside to her. "So how'd you manage your own off-campus place?" he asks as he watches the scenery go by.

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee tilts her head to side-eye Warren. "Won some championship gymnastic competitions. Overseas endorsements. Mostly in China," she admits. "It set me for awhile. I got what I needed. Settled me in pretty nicely. I don't have a lot. But what I have is paid for." She smiles. "And it pays decently to teach, so I have that going for me." She looks back at the road, which is at this point a rocky, winding road through the woods. "What makes you flutter?"

Archangel has posed:
"That's for you to find out." Warren responds with a laugh, and grins. "What type of products? And do you have any of your videoes? I would like to see what you did. You looked very graceful on the bars today. Like a work of art. I was really impressed!" he admits as he glances over at her. "I should have asked you to be my face for opening FroYo stands in China." he says with a grin. "The first person I was going to approach turned out to be a heel. Don't see that going well."

Jubilee has posed:
"Ehh, they don't have to be nice people to sell things. Just need to have a name. Or a face." Jubilee turns off the road and up a winding driveway to a clearing with a little log cabin sitting in the middle. Warm lights in inviting windows. A wisp of smoke from black stovepipe coming through the roof. It looks rustic, with its wooden windowboxes full of cheerful blooming yellow and purple pansies. She parks the Jeep next to a motorcycle, which is tightly tarped for winter. "Home sweet home. I think I have videos somewhere. Might even dig them out sometime. I did some work for athletic companies that specialize in gymnastic wear, and equipment."

Archangel has posed:
"Looks cozy. And I know that. But I'm sure the person is all that... well-known?" Warren asks with a laugh. "A wrestler by the name of Katsumi. Heard of her?" he asks as he moves to get out of the Jeep and gives his wings a quick shake, even if they are just going to get wet again.

Jubilee has posed:
"Nope!" Jubilee chirps, locking the Jeep doors and hopping out, to beat a path to the front porch of the cabin. She unlocks the door as Warren reaches it, and she opens the door to let them inside.

The cabin is surprisingly rustic, and quaint inside. "Home sweet home!"
