Cast of Characters: Saoirse Flynn, Yokai (Callaghan)

Saoirse Flynn has posed:
Saoirse is in one of those big boring conference rooms that is filled with vendor after vendor showing off their latest tech. Saoirse tagged along with Michelle who is schmoozing with different people, answering questions. Floating about 3 feet above the ground and mostly vertical she isn't the only one floating as people show off their inventions. The little wallflower is over at the side of the room where there is a massive buffet. Oh yes, this is what she came for. So many different tastes and delights! Picking up a plate she takes a shrimp with "I'll take one of these...oooh, tiny sandwiches! One of those!" on the plate it goes. Seeing as how the buffet is huge, this is going to take a while.

Yokai (Callaghan) has posed:
It's a small convention - relatively speaking - but to those in it, it's just as exciting as a comic or gaming 'con. At least, most of those in it. Robert Callaghan would be more excited if he wasn't here under business, as it were, but needs must when it comes to gathering what one needs to fulfil their promise to Uncle Sam and all that. Even with that over his head, he seems in a relatively decent mood, if...slightly fidgety, his handlers insisting he go in at least something of a disguise considering how he's supposed to be in, well. You know. Prison.
So the man who walks the floor has a bit of a beard and looks like he belongs behind the desk of an indie developer rather than a once-college professor, but he's still very much attentive to the surroundings. Though, the buffet...does catch his attention. Interesting. May as well, right?
He gets in line behind Saoirse, smiling faintly at her enthusiasm. After a moment, he remarks dryly, "You know you can come back for seconds, right?"

Saoirse Flynn has posed:
Saoirse blinks shaking her head "Maybe, but what if people eat it all and I miss something tasty because it's all gone? Don't you think it's better to take what you want now? But only take what you eat. That's what the Chineese Buffet signs say. They also aren't very happy when people float around the buffet, but there isn't any sign saying specifically not to. Except for Golden Wok Buffet. They put one up after I said that."

She pouts a little "Oh no, there aren't any little slider hambyburers! I was so hoping for those! Oooh, they have little weenies in barbecue sauce though! Let's see, I'll take one, two..three of those. Oh! And pigs in a blanket!" The more she babbles on as she puts food on her plate, the more it's painfully obvious she has an Irish accent - heavy, thick, the kind you get from not growing up in America. "I'm going to need a second plate.."

Yokai (Callaghan) has posed:
It's about at that point Robert takes a closer look at the floating-part. To be fair, there's quite a bit of tech displayed here, but the way she does so, so casually...his lips tug just a bit more upward. It reminds him of better days, honestly, but all that aside. "Most people don't float," he advises, taking more modest fare for himself. "Not that there's anything wrong with it, it just surprises some people."

Saoirse Flynn has posed:
Saoirse hmmns as she shakes a pig in a blanket at the stranger "Well..sometimes they don't not not-float. Maybe? Is that..not...not not..not...float? Sometimes people just float, and if they want to float in a buffet, if they want to float in a boat, if they want to float to a show. They should be able to float to be whom they are. That's what I think at last. People keep saying that people will try to hurt me someday because they are afraid of people with abilities. Though I think they should be able to be themselves. You catch more picnic-ers with hugs than angry badgers you know."

Yokai (Callaghan) has posed:
"Sometimes they don't," comes the agreement. The man looks more amused than anything else, Saoirse's personality seeming to charm him rather than annoy like it would some. But then, that may just come from having taught so many different kinds for so many years. Funny how it all can go away in an instant.
He chases the thought away, refocusing on the present. "Some people are scared about the strange," he agrees. "You're in good company here, at least; folks here'd probably just want to know how things work than how to hurt you."
    Most people, anyway.

Saoirse Flynn has posed:
Saoirse shakes her head "I don't know about that. Sometimes people want to pretend like they have good intentions, but they really don't have good intentions and they do things with the technology that they said they wouldn't do. They become badguys. And then my sister has to take them to poundtown. Oh wait, it's not poundtown. She said that means something else. She beats them up. Well..usually not the badguys come to think of it, she more beats up people in a military setting, like dictators, and tanks, and things like that. People like the Nightwing more beat up people that are badguys. More badguy, less supervillian. Stuff like that."

Yokai (Callaghan) has posed:
...huh. "Your sister fights bad guys?" Robert is suddenly very thankful his experience with such is... limited? Unique? Not the kind that results in being beaten up, at least, though his smile does falter a bit. He's very glad the convention is predicted to be without incident. "What do you do with your tech, then, if you don't mind me asking?"

Saoirse Flynn has posed:
Saoirse nods "Oh yes, she takes a big sword, or weapons, and these booster rockets, and guns, and all kinds of doodads." She tilts her head a little "Me? Well, I mostly use it to pee and stuff. I used to not be able to communicate or look after myself, but now thanks to the nanotech I can totally do everything all by myself, even use the bathroom! It's pretty great really. Oh, and I have this." She shows a high-tech looking watch on her wrist, large, it has all kinds of communication modules in it, but hastily added on top is a graphic of a 'Gundam MK II' with the lettering above, and below 'LT. Emma Sheen, AUEG'. "They put my favorite gundam and character on it because I kept forgetting to put on the communication thingie. They told me all it did a few times but I don't really get it, so they told me it's like a fancy apple watch. I didn't get that either. So then they told me it's a replica of Emma Sheen's Gundam Communication device. I don't remember that being in Zeta Gundam..but it's sure neat to have!"
