Synopsis: Studies and socialization in the library for two healers and a pixie in a bit of a time crunch for a term paper!
Cast of Characters: Firefly (Barrows), Pixie, Nightingale

Firefly (Barrows) has posed:
Josiah was in the library, reading up on schoolwork. It was a regular tuesday night for the most part and he was reading a school book. He turns a page and he looks around. He raises a hand and his hand glows brightly forming into a glove which covers his hand in white light. He turns the page and uses the light to see better in the library.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn sighs as she flutters slowly into the library. "Ugggggh...Whyyyyy is Ms. Frost soooo demanding? How am I gonna write that English Term Paper on The Illiad in time? It's soooo long!?" she sighs as she drags her feet along, searching for some books that might help. Ugh, English is SO not her strong point! And apparently she hasnt' spent much time in the library as she struggles to find the books she is looking for. "Argh, so many weird numbers! Libraries make no sense!"

Firefly (Barrows) has posed:
"Looks as if you could use a little bit of help, Chere." Josiah says as he watches the teen pass him by. The light flickers out of his hand and he begins to walk to her. "I dont know how they organize this place, but I can help you if you need it. Most of my specialty is religious studies." He says as he watches her. "I like your wings."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn peers at Josiah, whom she's probably seen in some of her classes but doesn't know that well, nods and smiles, "Thanks!" she holds up a piece of paper. "Ummm...821. 914 LOG?! The heck is that supposed to mean? Ooh, why cant they just say, Illiad, two doors to your right?" she makes a face, "Yeaah, I should really actually do my homework for once instead of slacking off."

Firefly (Barrows) has posed:
"Growing up I never took formal schooling." Josiah says as he looks about the book shelves. "Mah parents home schooled me and taught me about christianity. Was made a preacher for the mobile church we run at the age of 8." He says as he smiles at the woman. "So I think your name is megan...or marcy..." He says as he looks about, his voice having a cajun accent to it.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn arches a curious brow. "Oooh really? What was that like? Were they like, strict bible thumpers?" She makes a face. "Oh wow, at age 8? That's sooo young! That must not have been much fun." she shrugs, "Yeah, I learned a bit of religion from my grandparents, but never really followed it after I came here. I am curious and would love to learn more though.." Oh right, she never gave her name! "Yeah, my name's Megan! Nice to meet you! It's Josiah, right?" she giggles, "You sound like Mister Gambit a bit! Love the accent!"

Firefly (Barrows) has posed:
Josiah clears his throat and tries to hide his accent. "Thats because I was born and raised in louisanna." He says as he looks about the shelves. "It wasnt so bad. I got to talk and preach to folk when they needed to be inspired. Religion should better a person, not restrict them." He says as he pulls out the book. "I think this is the Illiad." He says offering it to her.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn oohs, "Did you like it down there?" she shrugs, "Hey, maybe you can teach me more about religion. I believe in a higher force out there, just dont understand it that well. I guess maybe religion just gets a bad rep because there are some bad peeps out there who like to use it to control people? But you seem like a nice guy.." she peers up at the shelves. "Ooh, that's totally it! Thanks! Now I just have to totally cram for my term paper..At least I still have til the end of the week but ugh, I was sooo lazy I didn't do my homework.."

Firefly (Barrows) has posed:
"The hurricanes were always a problem. And it isnt as cold as up here. But yes I loved it down there." He says as he watches the girl. He then smiles. "I can help you cram if you want? I am just doing a bit of studying on my own." He says as he watches the girl. "The trick to not be lazy is to seek things out first." He says with a grin.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn ooohs, "Really? I guess it can get a bit chilly up here, but I'm used to it, coming from Wales and all." she shrugs, "But hey, that would be awesome! I was never really good at writing papers..Have you read the Illiad before? I guess I have to do a character analysis of Achilles and Hector and explain why they were or were not heroes etc.." she smirks, "Heh, I'll keep that in mind next time.."

Firefly (Barrows) has posed:
"I knew at the time the greek polythistic pantheon was the religion of the time. There were stories of course about how achilles was a mortal bathed in the river styx, which is why he was invincible in battle. History back then was more based on faith then actual fact." He says as he watches her. "So your from wales. So I take it you are here on a student pass?" He asks curiously.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn oooos, "It sounds really funn, but pretty violent too! Soo like, they believed in multiple deities right? Like the sea god and the lightning god.." okaaay, why does that sound kinda familiar? "Oh right, didn't the Greek gods all kinda take sides in the war and stuff? Like, they were the main players in the war and Achilles and Hector were really just pawns, weren't they.." she smiles and nods, "Yeah, y'know, accident on bike led my mom to send me to my grandparents in the country, where they kept me hidden and homeschooled for a while, til the Professor trackd me down and brought me to the school. Good thing too! I hate being cramped up!"

Nightingale has posed:
As was often these days, with few if any other healers about, Shannon was left to do research on her own. At the moment, she's sitting at one of the many computers in the library, clicking away, the screen flickering faintly blue across her features. She's in her baggy gray tank top, red tartan sweatpants, and floofy sheepdog slippers, with a spill-proof travel mug of cocoa next to her on the table. The talk of Greek gods perks her up a little bit, enough to get her to look up from her work. "Huh? Sea god... are we talking about Poseidon here?" There is something of a knowing smile for a moment, and she chuckles softly. "And the lightning god... are you talking about the one who creates the lightning bolts, or the one who uses them? If it's the craftsman who forges the lightning bolts, that would be Hephaestus. Zeus is the one who uses them, and is also considered king of the Greek pantheon. And, incidentally, is Poseidon's brother."

Firefly (Barrows) has posed:
"Right. In the mortal realm the king agememnon was trying to expand his empire, while the gods used mortals to fight their battles. For the greek pantheon, the gods often fought against other. Egos were big back then." He says as he watches the faegirl. He then nods. He smiles at shannon. "You got to understand, The gods of that time was fickle and demanded humans do things for them. Wouldnt surprise me if they were aliens or magicians or what." He says as he looks to Shannon. "Megan here has to do a term paper on the Illiad." He explains.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smirks as she spots a Shannon and waves to her. "Hii Shannon! Yeah, the Greek Gods, writing a term paper on what it means to be a hero in regards to the Illiad.." She sighs, "Unfortunately I kinda..Slacked off, and now I gotta cram to get it done by the end of the week. Ms. Frost is soooo strict.." she pouts. And then arches a brow, "Oooh dont' tell me, they're all personal friends of yours. Seriously, how do you manage to know all the famous people by first name?"

She nods to Josiah, biting her lip. "Oh yeah, wasn't there like a beauty contest that started it all off between the goddesses? Aphrodite promised Paris Helen if he chose her as the prettiest or something. Sheesh, that's nuts!" but good stuff for her paper. She flips through the pages, walking to Shannon's table, "Mind if we join you?"

Nightingale has posed:
"Not all of them," Shannon corrects Megan, chuckling. "But I have run into Poseidon a few times, and would you believe Hercules is working at Evolution these days? Crap. Speaking of which, I've -really- got to get a hold of the Professor." She inclines her head to Josiah, then Megan, moving her cup out of the way so they can bring over whatever books and materials they need to the table.

The rather vocal opinion on the sanity of Aphrodite's promise to Paris draws a laugh from the winged healer, and she shakes her head a little. "Yeah, Eris sort of mucked things up throwing in that golden apple. You'd be surprised, the Greek gods are more like us than you think. And if you think about it, were we alive in those times, we might well have been viewed as demi-gods ourselves, with gifts like we have."

She smiles a bit, taking a sip of her cocoa. "Guess the way I'd start on a paper like that in a crunch is to sort of make a list of talking points for the material, 'cause let's face it, the Iliad isn't light bedtime reading. See if you can condense the basic idea into maybe a page or so for your own benefit, the bare bones of the story. Then see what ideas you can pick out from there to relate to the point Miss Frost wants you to make."

Firefly (Barrows) has posed:
Josiah smiles and nods to the women. "Most of my knowledge revolves around christianity. I know bits and pieces of other religions, but my parents were sure christianity was the best." He says with a shrug as he looks to the two. "Anyway So when do you want to do that training session, Shannon?" He asks curiously. He then looks to Megan. "So other then having pixie wings, do you have any other abilities, megan?

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smirks at Shannon, "Heh, that's pretty cool. I mean really? I gotta hit up Club Evolution again!" her eyes widen in curiosity, "Ooh and what's Poseidon like? Is he as scary as in the stories? I guess the Illiad isn't totally make - belief." she shrugs, "Right, points.." she pulls out a notebook from her backpack, laying it on the table, shrugging at Josiah.

"Oh...I have a few..I know a wee bit of magic..Illy promised to teach me more, but I guess she's pretty busy lately.." she rolls her eyes, "Umm..I can create super glittery hallucinogenic dust too. Ooh and I have a soul dagger, kinda like Illy's.." her eyes darken for a moment, remembering how she actually got the thing, but doesn't go into it right now.

"Oooh okay, let's see..." she starts writing down stuff, "Oh yeah, and those three goddesses.." Megan reaches for the book...Only to find that it's no longer on the table. "Eeeps! Where's the book!? I was sure it was right here...." she starts to panic, "Nooo it was the last copy!!"

Nightingale has posed:
"Wouldn't want to piss him off, but so far, he's actually been pretty chill. You want to see him pissed? Look at the Odyssey. Come on, you've got to admit, Odysseus did step in it big time, blinding Poseidon's son Polyphemus like that. Any father worth their salt would get mad. But when I've run into him? Pretty chill." Shannon smiles a little bit. "Don't worry about the book. There's websites out there where you can read it."

Turning to Josiah, she smiles a bit more, nodding once. "Whenever you're game for it. When were you thinking?" She chuckles as she listens to Megan describe her gifts. "Ummm oh yeah. Might not want to let that pixie dust touch you. It's... potent."

Firefly (Barrows) has posed:
Josiah begins to look about for the book. "My abilities are a little difficult to explain...Easier to show you." He says as he steps back and takes a breathe. All of a sudden his eyes ears and mouth begins to glow in a blinding light. The light covers him, becoming an armor of sort as two large wings appear on his back, made of solid white light. Being bathed in the light is enough to feel it's calming effects, and minor injuries heal when shined on. He then looks to the others for a reaction.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn bites her lip, "Umm, dont think I can reference a website though..Plus they'll probably charge me if I lose the book.." when Josiah spreads out his wings of light, she squeaks, and jumps back. "Oooh, soo pretty!" she immediately feels calm and relaxed. Maybe she will find that book..Although she does hear an odd, distant shriek, as if from on the floor somewhere and frowns, "Hmm, so what kinda powers are those? Is that like, um, Green Lantern power?"

Nightingale has posed:
While having to narrow her eyes to partially shield them from the sheer brilliance of the light radiating from Josiah, Shannon just smiles. Her own wings relax and then spread out behind her as if in answer, like a sunflower turning to face the sun. Somehow, it seemed as if most everything would be alright. Shadows that often haunted her eyes seemed to fade away for the moment, some deep hurts temporarily forgotten. "Incredible," she murmurs. "So you were only using the slightest fraction of your power to heal me at the revival that time."

Firefly (Barrows) has posed:
The light vanishes and Josiah returns to normal. He smiles at Shannon. "I have discovered the more I used my abilities, the more I can do with them. When I was fourteen I was praying with a man who's cancer had claimed most of his life and he wanted to ask god to give him more time. As time progressed, I discovered I can cure terminal cancer in three seperate people before needing to rest." He explains as he watches the two.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn oooohs, "Actually you're more like an angel. And wow, healing powers too? That's amazing!" She beams, glancing at Shannon, "wooow, another healer to help you! I know Shannon's always under a lot of stress, having to heal everyone around here. It's nice to have another healer to help!" she hears a thump! And there's the book at her feet. "Phew, thank goodness!" peering around, she frowns a bit, "Heh. Stupid gremlins..I'll bet they were here again, you probably scared 'em away with all that light.."

Nightingale has posed:
"Hey, I just help out the medical folks here. But... yeah, it can still be a lot," Shannon admits, running her fingers through her hair. "It's like being on the very edge of being able to do more and have it not be so harmful to me, if I could understand my gifts a bit more. Having another healer here is, forgive the turn of phrase, a godsend."

The mention of gremlins has her lofting her eyebrows, and she peers curiously at Megan. "Gremlins? You mean like the ones that took that fairy the night I was helping the Professor out there?"
