Speed Angel
Date of Scene: 19 March 2020
Location: Bushwick (Mutant Town), Brooklyn
Synopsis: Sam and Shannon run into Blurr again.
Cast of Characters: Blurr, Nightingale, Cannonball

Blurr has posed:
Blurr once again finds himself hanging around Bushwick, searching for his Terran friends. You know, the ones he went on an adventure with and nearly got killed, and who are still by some miracle, friends with him.

By now, Shannon ought to recognize that slick, futuristic-looking vehicle mode anywhere! Even if it weren't parked in the basketball court of a local school as if it were a parking lot...

Nightingale has posed:
Dressed smartly for work in the club, Shannon slips outside at the end of her shift, her black slacks, comfortable black boots, and white button-down blouse simple but classy; her hair is pulled back in a simple bun at the back of her head, with the exception of that one ice-blue braid dangling on the left side of her face, three silver beads and all. Hey, she might only bus tables in the club but still, a girl's got her pride in her appearance! She's just shrugging on what looks like a rather dramatic-looking hooded opera cloak, with twin slits at the back to allow her wings to slip on through.

The sight of that rather futuristic-looking vehicle draws a smile to the young mutant's face; it wasn't a sight she'd expected to see again anytime soon. With her breath misting in front of her face in the last chill of winter, she heads on over to see what's going on. "Hey there," she calls out, a bit on the soft side. "How's it been going?"

Blurr has posed:
Scanning, scanning...oh, there she is! Blurr picks up on the young mutant as she walks out of the club in her work attire. Even as Shannon appears to start talking to no one at all, a holomatter projection resembling a blond teen, just like the one she'd seen before suddenly appears in front of her.

"Shannon! I was hoping I'd find you here." he greets, smiling. "Uhhh--yeah--about that." The 'how have you been part'. He glances about, and motions for her to come over into the now isolated basketball court, since the students were long gone for the day. "I need to ask you something."

Nightingale has posed:
Uh-oh. This was possibly not very good at all. Or it could be very good, but given the otherworldly adventure that had transpired the last time she met Blurr, Shannon was pretty sure something else was afoot. Her eyebrows loft, and she tugs the black wool cloak a bit more tightly around her for a bit of extra warmth. Edging a little bit closer, she glances about, fairly sure for the moment that there was nobody in immediate earshot. Still, her voice was a bit hushed. "It got a little crazy out there, and I remember we all kind of got the royal brush-off. Did something change...?"

Blurr has posed:
"Uh not quite this is something different." he answers. The avatar motions her toward his actual form, the door opening to invite her inside.

Nightingale has posed:
Groaning mentally, Shannon just shakes her head a little bit. The last time she'd gotten into that vehicle, it had resulted in a trip to another world. That time, she had been lucky Doug had been there. This time, if she went off alone, she could wind up in a whole passel of trouble. If Blurr had gone to the trouble of seeking her out, she did want to hear him out. However, common sense dictated letting someone know she was meeting a friend. Thankfully, for once, she listened to common sense and used her phone to send a quick message. With a sheepish smile to Blurr, she shrugs, and slips her phone back into her pocket, and is just about to get into the slick, futuristic vehicle....

"What else could it possibly be?"

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie will comes walking out of a spot between two buildings. He flew over but landed out of tight. "So, what are you two up to?" He will ask walking up.

Blurr has posed:
When Shannon slips in, the avatar disappears and reappears again in the seat next to her. You know, just so she doesn't have to feel like she's talking to a disembodied voice. He was about the shut the door when Sam walked up. Hmm...well all right. Might as well invite him in, too. The holomatter projection waves Sam over as well. "C'mon in, I'll tell you." he beckons.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon smiles and waves over to Sam, scooting over to make some room inside. "Hey, big brother. I was kind of hoping to find out what's up myself. Ummmm... don't suppose you two have met before, have you?" She glances between Blurr's holographic avatar, and Sam, wondering just how much explaining she would have to do later....

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie nods and says "Yes, we have met before." He hmms as he had heard blur took Doug and her off planet last time. He makes sure he has his phone, and will climb in.

Blurr has posed:
"We have actually. It's been a while, but I remembered you were a friend of hers." The avatar says as he gets in and the door closes. "Anyway, yeah. So I the gist of it is a bounty hunter is after me and I need somewhere to hide that isn't with my own people and is hard for him to get to or want to get to. I um--figured you'd know this planet better than me."

Nightingale has posed:
Crap. Bounty hunters? This was definitely not good. Shannon crosses her arms and peers over at Blurr, her eyes narroing slightly. This was definitely above her pay grade. She looks over at Sam, frowning slightly. It sounded as if he had met Blurr before. "What do you think, big brother? I'm not too sure what ideas to offer here." Yes, better to trust in the wisdom of her -elders-...

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Ok bounty hunters from on planet or off, and do you know how they are tracking you? I mean what do we need to hide from?

Blurr has posed:
"Not multiple bounty hunters. Just one. Another Cybertronian. And I don't know how he's tracking me, but he might be hesitant to make a mess if I'm somewhere--you know, around a bunch of Terran stuff." Blurr answers.

Nightingale has posed:
Bounty hunters. It was tempting to suggest the school, but on the other hand, Shannon was reluctant to put her classmates at risk. Yet, where could Blurr possibly hide? The obvious answer was 'in plain sight. But how could it be worked out? "You know," she beginhs, a little bit hesitant. "I /am/ due to go for my license here in another week or two..."

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Well, I take it new york is your normal hang out area, so might not want to head there to hang out. Whats your normal speed and top speed?

Blurr has posed:
"License? For what?" Blurr asks, unfamiliar with the fact that humans actually have to have a license to operate motor vehicles. And in fact just unfamiliar with the concept of needing licensure to drive something in general.

"Well I was hoping maybe you guys know of something cloaked or maybe with jamming technology to scramble sensor signals?" Well Doug seemed to know a lot about technology, right?

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon just looked at Blurr, perfectly deadpan. "It's a Terran thing. Generally, when people reach sixteen years of age, they have to prove their knowledge of how to operate a motor vehicle safely, and within the laws of the land in which they live. Yep. Let that one sink in....

Cannonball has posed:
Samuel Guthrie hmms and says "Well Ah aint sure, the main place Ah know for sure, would not be good to take you, but I might know somewhere else." He will give directions to an old amusement park.

Blurr has posed:
Blurr pauses a moment, thinking about that. Well he supposes that -does- make sense. "Oooh, I get it. So you're going to prove your knowledge within the laws of the land? You think you can do it?" he questions. "But what does that have to do with hiding from bounty hunters?"

When Sam mentions the abandoned amusement park, Blurr locates it and scrolls through publically available satellite imagery of the area. "Hm, I dunno. Not much in the way of stuff to jam sensor signals is there?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon scratches the back of her head and grins a bit sheepishly. "Well, there's always hiding in plain sight," she offers. "You've got to admit, unless you're out as a hologram, or there's a voice coming from a really pretty sleek-looking car, you could blend in pretty well." Okay. What was the winged one getting at here? One could almost see the gears in her head turning....

Blurr has posed:
"Right, which is what I have been doing. I'm just not sure how he's tracking me. Or how exacting it is. The last time he found me, it wasn't near any large Terran population centers, so he might have just been tracking my ship and looking for Cybertronian lifesigns in the sector where I landed. We don't exactly blend well with organic stuff, as you might have noticed, so it would have been obvious anyway." Blurr muses.

"...what exactly are you getting at?"

Nightingale has posed:
"Ooof. It might or might not be such a great idea after all, especially if you have no idea how you're being tracked." Shannon purses her lips slightly, fiddling with the beads on the end of the little blue braid on the left side of her face. "If you're trying to blend in, would having an organic counterpart, as it were, help you blend in at all? I don't know how a lot of the tech you know works, so I have no idea what this bounty hunter is capable of and all that." Her youth and inexperience is painfully obvious--but so is her willingness to help where possible.

Blurr has posed:
"Well, I figure he doesn't have a tracker on me or anything, since if that were the case he probably would have been here by now. I mean, he probably would have caught me even -before- I got here, too. I was hiding in caves....so he probably would have come after me there if he'd known where I'd gone after I lost him in the avalanche." Blurr replies pensively.

"Organic counterpart..." Oh. "Huh, yeah...maybe...holomatter can be easy to pick out if you know what you're looking for."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon grins a little bit, glancing back at Sam briefly before continuing on. "Well, since I'll be having to go for my license test here in another few weeks, that would put me in a position to -be- that organic counterpart. Though I'll have to talk to Sam a bit more and get his opinion on the risks, especially with a bounty hunter involved." It was one thing to face down a mindless, mega-pede creature and piss it off by attacking its food supply. It was quite another to go up against a very intelligent, very dangerous bounty hunter--and possibly put her friends at risk in the processs!

Blurr has posed:
"Sure, you two can talk about it." Blurr agrees. "And if you need to talk about it without me being here that's understandable, too. You know if your government has licenses do they have registration and stuff for your vehicles? Maybe when you get your license, you could license -me-, if you know what I mean. The uh...number on the one I have isn't valid, so if he's looking at that it might be an obvious sign. I don't know how it all works but maybe someone you know does?" he pauses. "I um, I appreciate you being willing to help."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon cracks a smile, leaning back into the seat, almost snuggling down a little bit, pulling her feet up under her and curling her wings around herself as if they were a quilt. "That's actually kind of what I was thinking. Or if not me, then someone else you know, if anyone. Point being, if having someone organic sort of standing in for the holographic 'you' would help you to hide, then it's an idea to consider." Reaching out to gingerly pat the dashboard, she smiles some. "Hey. What are friends for?"

Blurr has posed:
"If you could actually get me 'fake' registered it might actually really help. So if anyone got suspicious we'd have something that at least looked legitimate." Blurr chuckles. "So do you have to answer questions or do a test or something to prove yourself to get your license?" he wonders aloud. "Maybe I could help you if any kind of demonstration is required." As if he knows and observes Terran traffic laws.

Nightingale has posed:
Snickering softly, Shannon tries her best to hold back her mirth. Okay, maybe she isn't trying all -that- hard, as she is soon bursting out in peals of laughter. "With your need for speed? Ha!" It takes her several minutes to stop laughing long enough to attempt an explanation of how the whole testing process worked. "The test is usually in two parts. One is a written part. The other is more practical and hands-on. They usually encourage you to take your test in the vehicle you intend to be driving, but that doesn't -always- have to be the case."

Blurr has posed:
"..." The avatar folds its arms as Shannon bursts out laughing at the idea. "Hey, I'm getting better! I wasn't leading your authorities around on a wild turbofox chase this time now was I? No. Fine, I could just let you take control." Wink. "Well you know how to contact me. Let me know what your decision is, or if there's anything on getting registered." The doors open again, to let them get back to wherever they may call home.

Nightingale has posed:
"Ha, if I took control it'd be too tame for you." Uh-oh. Was there a note of challenge? Could it be the angel might become somewhat corrupted, and bitten by the speed demon bug? For a moment, it looks as if Shannon might forget herself and attempt to hug the avatar, but she thinks better of it, and instead slips out of the door as it opens. "Either a decision, or if we come up with any alternate ideas that could help." She pauses, frowning slightly. "Just... try to stay safe, okay? It's not every day one makes a real decent friend. I'd be very upset if something happened to you."

Blurr has posed:
"I know, but I wouldn't want to ruin your chances of getting your driving license!" Blurr jabs back, the avatar smirking at Shannon as she gets out. "I -can- actually practice self restraint, as hard as that might be for you to believe."
