Cast of Characters: Captain Marvel (Danvers), 811

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Captain Marvel has had quite a career, and as a result, quite a few connections far and wide, on and off world. Today she was visiting at the Xavier Mansion, and right now, she's on her way back, flying rather low across Westchester. She stands out quite a bit, what with her recognizable uniform, and the sparkling glow she leaves in her wake, painting the sky briefly.

Dion Archeval (811) has posed:
It's hard to miss that, the sight of a person flying through the air with a sparkling contrail. And there's a man sitting on the edge of a building's roof as she begins to fly over. He stands, tilting his head up to look, squinting a bit. He still isn't used to these new eyes...

So if Carol happens to be looking down, she'll see him -- a dark-skinned man with wild black hair, rather skinny except his shoulders. Which makes sense because he's got wings; the muscles to move those things adds some bulk to his upper body, but he's by no means huge. He's shirtless -- also probably because of the wings -- but he's still mostly decent, black pants and a pair of black boots that almost look like a military boot of some kind.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
A man standing on the roof of a building, not doing some maintenance work, is more often than not suspicious, so at the very least, Captain Marvel flies nearer for a better look. She does come to land not far from him, on the same roof, as she studies his wings and military grade boots. "Good day for sky viewing...?" She asks with a hint of a smile on her lips.

Dion Archeval (811) has posed:
Dion draws back a little when Carol begins to swoop down; she could be preparing to attack! However, he pauses when she speaks. That's when he remembers. Language. Dion realizes after she speaks that he's still learning it. He tilts his head, first one way and then the other, blinking. The gesture is very birdlike. "...Sky... viewing?" he says, slowly. There's an indication that he may not quite know what these words mean.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Captain Marvel does know a myriad of languages thanks to her Kree side of things, and she considers Dion more carefully as he struggles with English. Than again, it shouldn't necessarily mean he is an alien, so she doesn't immediately try for Shi'ar, one of the more well known languages beyond this Earth. Instead she goes to the far more intuitive gestures, pointing at her eyes, and up at the sky, "watching the sky...looking...are you doing something else?"

Dion Archeval (811) has posed:
Dion looks up at the sky when she points. "...Viewing," he says again. "Sitting. I was..." He pauses, blinking a few times. He frowns. Clearly he's looking for the word. He says a word, not in English -- or any other Earth language. Then taps the side of his head. "In here." He says that alien word again. If Carol has translation abilities, she'll pick it up -- 'thinking'.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Yes, viewing," Carol nods, as he follows what she means this time around, looking intently at him as she surmises his meaning, asking, "about what? Is there anything wrong?" She asks in the simplest words she can choose, not wanting to confuse the winged man.

Dion Archeval (811) has posed:
Dion pauses a moment to parse her words, then nods. He looks back at his wings, unfolding them just a bit, as if to indicate them as the source of the issue. The limbs move... awkwardly, somehow, as if they're not fully under his control. Or... well, like a baby bird that hasn't learned how to use its wings yet. Though his are fully grown. "This," he states. "Not..." Another pause. This time he finds the proper word. "...Normal."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Captain Marvel doesn't take much more than that to realize the potential issue to hand, and immediately offers, while gesturing for wings to help him understand, "those...not yours? Someone gave them to you?" She tries at first the simple way, before adding, "was it a beam? An experiment in a lab? Something else? Do you need help?"

Dion Archeval (811) has posed:
Dion returns the wings to their proper positions on his back. At least he knows how to hold them at rest, so there's that. At the question of the wings not being 'his' , Dion nods. Though the rest of the questions seem to confuse him a bit. "Enemy," he tries to explain. "Animal. But..." Another tap on the side of his head. "Changed me."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Considering the avian features, Carol does eventually try a bit of Shi'ar, on the off chance it would be easier for Dion to parse, "<can you explain what happened? Who is this enemy? How did he change you?>"

Dion Archeval (811) has posed:
It's not Dion's language. But it's similar. Not similar the way Spanish and Italian are similar... more like German to English -- the lexicon is mostly there, but used in ways that are unusual. Dion seems taken aback, blinking a few times in confusion. But then he registers what was said. Thinks. It's easier to understand at least, even if it does take some thought. So, slowly, Dion says in his language, "<My people's enemy. The Toreans. They are animals. They were led by a... halfbreed. My people and theirs.>"

Indicating the wings again. "<The building blocks of the body. He changed mine, until these appeared.>" Though he does feel the need to assure her, "<He is no more now."> Of course, how much of that Carol will actually be able to understand, Dion doesn't know. But she does look like a hero, in that costume. And the costumed ones are supposed to help people, right? So he should be able to let her know the problem.

Shameful to him or not, Dion's military mind and training utterly refuses to let a problem go unaddressed. He's stuck with these wings, most likely, and not being able to use them is a liability.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"<I think I understand...at least a gist,>" Captain Marvel assures Dion, before explaining, "<I have some brilliant friends, who may be able to assist. Or at the very least explain, they are incredible with science...>" It's about as much as Carol can offer at this point in time, before reaching for one of the pouches on her sash belt, and presenting Dion with a contact card, "<I will let my friends know, and see if they can help.>"

Dion Archeval (811) has posed:
Dion nods. He accepts the card, though there's a high likelihood he can't read it, given the somewhat confused look he gives the card. "<I know how it was done,>" he assures. "<I am using simpler words, so we can both understand.>" But he does offer a bow. "<My name is Dion Archeval. And I thank you.>"
