How to let off steam..The right way!
Date of Scene: 31 March 2020
Location: The Magic Box, Sunnydale
Synopsis: Buffy invites Katsumi to the magic box to work out and learns more about her.
Cast of Characters: Buffy Summers, Bakeneko

Buffy Summers has posed:
It's late evening at the Magic Box, and business is starting to slow as the store gets ready to close for the day. Buffy is helping out as she occasionally does, with some sort if sale going on today and both Giles and Anya currently indisposed. Well someone had to pick up the slack, even if she's got a full plate of her own. Fortunately people are finally trickling out, one by one..

Bakeneko has posed:
Buffy invited a stray into the building the other day. She now has to reap what she's sown.

It took Katsumi a little bit to find the storefront, being somewhat subtle. But find it, she does. And when she pushes the door open, she's taking in the interesting, esoteric wares and... scents. Is that incense? What is that? Some gross mummy ingredient? Her button nose crinkles. But before she can explore her surroundings, she spots the blonde on duty. Putting on a wide smile, she strolls her way, shouldering a gym bag.

As for her attire? She's wearing a simple, black zipped up track jacket, white yoga shorts, and white cross-trainers with pink accents. "Heeyy~!," she greets in an entirely more familiar manner than is likely deserved. "The Hell do you people actually sell in here? It smells like a grandma." She pauses, head turning slightly. Sniff, sniff. "Or what a grandma's old stories would smell like."

If she cares about customers overhearing, she doesn't show it. Nor does she particularly care what time of day it is - that wasn't the point of this little visit.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers is just finishing up with a customer when Katsumi enters, and both pause and peer at her, the customer frowning a bit as she grabs her bag and hurries off, muttering something under her breath. "Oh, hey there, Katsumi, welcome to the Magic Box!Thats probably the various herbs you're smelling." she seems to make light of the grandma comment, as she peer around the store.

Looks like that's the last customer and so she heads for the door, flipping the open sign around and locks the door, before returning to the counter, "Just need to balance the cash, gimme a minute or two...Feel free to look around but careful not to break anything, some of that stuff is very fragile and can be..Well dangerous.."

Bakeneko has posed:
"What, you mean some things smell even /worse/?," quips Katsumi as she turns to meander through the store.

Crystal figures. Oh, there's the incense! Incense is nice. Some... dried leaves.. for some reason. Teas. Books. Quirky charms. It's all so terribly boring by her standards. Katsumi's a gamer; a musician. A performer, used to stepping out to roaring crowds amidst a spray of neon lights and pyros. This is all a hard sell for her. She exhales a puff of a sigh, tussling her hanging bangs.

"So you work here? Or your friend owns it? What was the deal?," she calls over to Buffy, trying to recall what she'd said.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers smirks, peering at Katsumi briefly before returning to her books, "Heh, just watching the shop for my friends Giles and Anya. Said they'd be back soon but it's okay fir me to show you the training room in a bit.."

She shrugs, rolling her shoulders, it's been a long day, "Heh, I work here occasionally, when it gets busy. All those weird herbs and figurines and books and stuff are for magic users. Here in Bludhaven there are a surprisingly large number of witches and wizards.." no point in hiding that fact at this point. "Almost done here, how's your day been?"

Bakeneko has posed:
"Yeah. Harry Potter nerds, I get it," Katsumi says dismissively. She's at least somewhat aware of the supernatural, especially given her own unexplained physical prowess. But she's not ready to accept that such a thing is commonplace, much less legitimately practiced.

Katsumi wanders around the storefront in a long, drawn out pace before coming close to Buffy again. "My day? S'been boring. Did a little workout, ate, napped, considered bugging around here, but thought you'd probably prefer it if it was closer to closing time. Less people to hear ya slapping the mat when you tap out," she teases. Should Buffy look to her again, Katsumi shoots her a teasing wink.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers chuckles a bit at that, shaking her head. "Well..Harry Potter might not be real, but then a gain, maybe he is? But magic IS real, and not just a joke.." she has a serious look on her face as she finishes up with the cash, locking it up in the safe before turning to regard Katsumi.

"Ah, sounds pretty routine, didn't get into anymore fights?" she smirks, not sure how she'll respond to that and her smile fades into a more cautious one. "Hmm, I do appreciate that, I mean, seeing as I had to watch the store and all..But now they're all gone, I can show you the cool areas.."

Stepping out from behind the counter, she grins and cocks her finger for Katsumi to follow. "c'mon, I wanna show you something cool.."

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro gives what can only be described as a Cheshire smile as Buffy teases her. She leans over the counter and reaches forward, aiming to draw a fingertip from the corner of Buffy's jaw to the point of her chin. "Oh no. I was saving myself just for you," she purrs. Katsumi is extremely used to ramping up her physical appeal, to the point of it being a playfully off-handed tool for taking her 'prey' off balance. So how will Buffy handle what could easily be seen as a suggestive turn of phrase? Why, that's half the fun of it in the first place.

But as Buffy leads, Katsumi follows. She really is curious about this ring she alluded to before, and why it would even be here as a close second. "So why would a girl like you know anything about totally-real-not-making-this-up-honest magic?," she asks, wryly overplaying the reality of it.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers pauses, blinks a bit as Katsumi makes a gesture - that can be taken in more than one way. She stiffens a bit, smirking, batting her hand away playfully, "Heh, suure I am. Well, it's always nice to find a sparring partner to keep me at the top of my game."

She continues to lead her through the back door, past the staff office, which, this being a rather small store, consists of just a single room with Giles' and Anya's desks. She walks down the narrow hallway, past the washroom and to the larger steel door at the end, fitting a key in the lock and turning it.

"Voila! After you!" she grins, pushing open the door, letting Katsumi step in and peer around. And it really is quite a remarkable room, with a large sparring mat in the center, a punching bag..And a large wall full of an assortment of mostly medieval weaponry.

As for that last question, Buffy just shrugs, "Well..I guess I know a few people who practice magic.."

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro follows patiently behind, paying a modicum of attention to their surroundings as they pass. Offices don't interest her. Foreboding doors don't interest her much either. Buffy's reaction previously was about as fun as she could've hoped for, and her hand had been batted away easily.

The door is unlocked, opened, and Katsumi is certainly happy to take the lead. She strolls down into the room, but only manages a couple steps before taking in a slow gasp in wonderment. "It's peeerfect~!," she coos. Her hands clasp over her chest, and she trots the rest of the way into the room as a spirited, high-kicked trot. "It's no professional gym, but it's all you need! Except maybe a treadmill!" She comes to a stop on the mat, repeatedly stepping and pressing her feet into its cushy material. "Mnh..."

A soft sigh escapes her as her eyes fall shut.

"Home."

It might be apparent that Katsumi has a rather deep emotional connection to mats.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers chuckles, following in behind her, shutting the door as she goes. There's a nice barred window on the far end of the wall and it allows some twilight light to shine in, although there is also a decent overhead light too which she flicks on because it'll be dark soon.

"Yeah!" she smiles as she walks around the vaulting horse, "Got a bit of everything, gymnastics, weight training, target practice.." she points to the far wall, "Heck, even a ton of weapons." honestly, one has to wonder what Buffy is doing with all those weapons and how she even got them and from where..

"So, what would you like to try first?" Buffy does notice how she inspects the mat and cant help but chuckle a little, "I suppose this is familiar to you, huh.."

Bakeneko has posed:
"Sort've," Katsumi murmurs, eyes still shut. She is currently mentally frolicking in her happy place. "Mine have ropes. Turnbuckles to jump from. But I can make it work. There's stuff to jump off in here..."

Her right hand moves to the zipper of her jacket, drawing it down and loose. Soon, she's shrugging out of the outerwear to toss aside, leaving her simply in a hot pink racerback sportsbra. Her arms stretch back, limbering up her joints before turning to Buffy.

"Why do you have weapons? For real. What's the point of it? Is it the martial arts thing? Why is this even /in/ here?"

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers smiles, "Hmm, those might be interesting little additions to add. I'll have to talk to Giles about that. I mean, I'd love to have some more gymnastics equipment for aerial stunts..Although this training gym IS more focused on self-defense and weapons training first and foremost."

As for WHY there are so many weapons in here, well, that gives Buffy pause as she tries to come up with an explanation that doesn't give away her secret - too much.

"Hmm, well like I said, I'm something of a street fighter myself. And a weapons expert.." she smiles, picking up a Bo staff from the wall, feeling its weight in her hand, twisting and twirling it around with ease.

"But more than that, well if you've lived in Bludhaven long enough, and especially in Sunnydale, then you are no stranger to things that go 'bump in the night'. It's always best to be prepared for anything, right?"

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro doesn't look entirely convinced. But her lips purse in thought, her mouth becoming a thin line as she studies the blonde. "Something of a street fighter," she repeats. "With weapons." Things that go bump in the night? "Can I tell you something? And you maybe not freak out?," she asks. "Like, for real. If I tell you this, you have to be cool. And you have to tell me if there's something like... like what I'm about to tell you about, lurking around here." Her arms come to fold across her midsection again, her gaze troubled.

But she isn't continuing without assurance of Buffy not freaking out!

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers smiles nervously, uncertain if she even bought all that. "Y-yeah, that's right! Honestly, most people know that Sunnydale is not normal..Really!"

She does give pause, peering at Katsumi curiously, "Uh, sure?" she chuckles and shrugs, "Heck, it takes a lot to freak me out, believe me. So go on, what is it you're trying to tell me?"

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro hunches her bare shoulders forward as she hedges on being direct and open. She's not even completely convinced what she thinks happened actually happened. And where exactly should she start with this little story?

"Okay, so there was this girl. I hadn't been in the country long this time, just a couple days. I was just wrapping up training, talking to someone else on Team Japan. But she was being strapped to a stake in New York City, and a bunch of psychopaths were setting it on fire. I freaked, right? Any sane person would. But she survived the ordeal. And I ran into'er later, and she was being, like, attacked by three guys with /serious/ disfigurements. I was fending'em off of her, and..."

She pauses, sparing a hand to rub over the side of her neck. The memory is still unnerving.

"They kept trying to bite'n chew on me. And the girl was carrying a f***ing literal Dracula stake. And I eventually stabbed'em with it. No kidding, they turned into dust. It sounds like /so much bull/, but it happened. And I have no idea if that girl's okay after the ambulance took'er away. But.. that's.. I don't even know what I'm saying. But does that happen here? Is that why you have weapons? Why you say things bump in the night or whatever?"

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers blinks slowly, eyes narrowed intently on Katsumi as she tells her story. "Mm. Girl, you say? What did she look like? Did you get a name..?" she shrugs, thinking that over, wondering if it might be Faith..

"Hmm, so these guys, with disfigurements..Were they attacking..At night? Did they..Turn to dust when you stabbed them?"

Ahh, but if it is what Buffy thinks it is, maybe she doesn't have to pretend. "Yeah, something like that..Maybe."

Bakeneko has posed:
"Like I said, yeah," Katsumi confirms. "They turned to dust. So when the ambulance arrived, I had to get rid of the stake or they'd think I hurt the girl. Not.. I dunno, weird-ass monster people with bite fetishes." She then shakes her head. "I think she had brown hair? Kind've, I dunno, mousy? She might've had glasses, I can't remember. It was at night, though."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers hehs, "Interesting, thought I heard you say that. Hmm.." and the girl she describes..Well, considering vamps are not that well-known, and mostly it's only her Scoobies or Angel's agents who would think to carry around stakes. "Hmm..Was her name..Winifred, by chance? It seems to fit the description of one of Angel Investigations' employees." she frowns softly, "Geez, poor girl, she's really been through a lot, and it always seems to happen when I'm not around to protect her.."

Bakeneko has posed:
"Ah-.. maybe?," Katsumi chances. "I think it was. I sent her a card to the hospital after those psychos tried to burn her." But what Buffy says, Katsumi latches onto. "So that s*** was real? What the f*** were those? You said those are what you're talking about!? The Hell did I fend off of'er!?"

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers frowns softly, "Ahh, right, I think I heard about it.." she must have sent her a card too..Right? Even though she barely knows the girl. And that makes her frown deepen just a little. "Oh, I've been terrible, I really need to talk to Fred some more, she just holes herself up in that hotel room all the time, and when she does get out, she gets herself in trouble. I need to bring her here, I really do.."

As for that f***? She sighs and nods. "Yeah, I guess they are. Hey, you've seen 'em with your own eyes right? Sounds like you fought vampires..And lived to tell the tale." Buffy seems impressed. "Nice job. Guess you're even stronger than you look. It's not easy for normal humans to defeat vamps, especially on their first go."

And that make her all the more curious.

Bakeneko has posed:
A shudder visible runs through Katsumi's frame, all the more apparent due to her lack of bulky outerwear. Her bottom lip is drawn between her teeth, troubled gaze dropping to her toes. Vampires. Monsters. It's what she thought, when the stake came tumbling her way. She wanted to believe pretty much anything else. But at the same time, believing something else would've meant she'd really killed people. She's relieved. She's also mortified. They were gnawing on her! They lacked the strength to readily break through her skin, and- oh God, that's the only reason she's still alive, isn't it?

She inhales audibly through her nose.

"Ah- I-.. got a little confession to make. If we're gonna do this. You, um. Deserve to know."

She raises a hand and beckons Buffy to the mat with a few finger-curls. "Hit me. Hard as ya can. Gut-shot, on the chin, whatever you want, honeybee."

Her hands link together behind her back and her shoulders roll back, offering her torso and face to the blonde Buffster.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a brow as she recognizes the expressions going through the other girl's face. OH yes, she's only too familiar with that reaction. It's the exact same reaction she had the first time she fought vamps. And dusted them.

"Yeaa, it takes a little getting used to." she smirks, but her smile fades when the girl actually asks her to punch her. Hard. But then, Buffy already had her suspicions.

The girl dusted more than one vamp on her first go, apparently with little effort. And she stood up pretty well against the punks at the Bronze. Still..

"Huh, you wanna punch me with all my might..See, I'm not exactly your average girl either but..Here goes." of course, Buffy doesn't use full force against the girl, but she DOES aim a punch hard enough that it would send a normal person flying across the room, and at the very least, knock the wind out of them.

Bakeneko has posed:
Buffy's fist impacts Katsumi's midsection, and the Japanese girl pops off her feet only to double over! "Gnnf!" Her arms wrap her middle, head hanging low, her hair nearly reaching the mat. Her balance is staggered, her left knee buckling. After a couple hard coughs, she exhales a breath in a pained groan.

And then she's suddenly upright again, hands propped to hips, wearing a weak smile and breathing normally. "I'm just f***in' with ya. You hit /hard/, like.. surprisingly hard. But I'm alright. The fighting, all that at the club? Even the street fights? It's like therapy for me, yeah. But it's also, um.. training." Her head tilts faintly, an atypically sheepish look settling in. "I'm stronger than I should be. Tougher. Faster, too, I've noticed. I- I don't know why. But fighting people lets me feel kind'a normal again, and it helps me get used to controlling it. How much force I use. It's muscle memory I've gotta build up."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers arches a brow, a bit surprised. Normally such a punch, even if not at full power, would send the average human flying, even someone as big and tough and augmented as Riley. "Heh. You're tougher, way tougher than the average human. Heck, you could be stronger than me, if I used full strength, who knows?"

She narrows her eyes at her, trying to figure her out. She's not a demon, that's for sure, Buffy's slayer sense would be tingling like crazy by now if she were. But then..

"Soo..What are you, bitten by a radioactive spider? gamma rays? half demon? You're definitely stronger than average.."

Bakeneko has posed:
A hand sets to the side of her neck, Katsumi's sheepishness growing. "I really, really don't know. When I landed in America, everything was weird. Tired all the time, crazy nightmares, jet-lag stuff. But it didn't go away. Instead, my eyes changed colors." The hand moves to indicate the bright magentas. "These used to be green!"

With a vexed sigh, she drops the hand to her side.

"This thing, whatever it is, cost me my career and put a girl in the hospital. But I can't exactly tell people I'm a freak, now can I?" Wait, what did Buffy say? As if snapping back to attention, Katsumi refocuses sharply on the blonde. "Hang on, that wasn't your full strength?"

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers hmms, "Interesting. I wonder if something bit you while you were asleep or something? I dunno about the rest of America, but Bludhaven's pretty weird that way. Trust me, I had one friend get possessed by a Hyena's spirit, and another was dating an ancient evil god running around in metal armour. Let's not forget the sexy teacher who turned out to be a giant praying mantis.."

Oh, she could go on forever about Bludhaven weirdness but that might just bore Katsumi. Really. Actually maybe not but...

"Wow, purple eyes, that's pretty.." she smiles, "Huh, could be some sort of spiritual possession, y'know how they say eyes are the windows to the soul..I can talk to Giles about this, he's pretty smart.."

She shrugs, "Oh, well, I didn't wanna cause you serious harm. Not until I could gauge how much punishment you can take. Obviously a lot.."

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro breathes a little faster the more Buffy lists off. And then there's the idea that she's possessed. She hadn't even thought of that. Her eyes widen, and she shrinks back a step. "D-do you really think I might be? That th-there's something /in/ me?" She recently saw a possessed person. She used to think it was hokey until that night at the hotel; seeing a person get shot over something they couldn't control. Could that be her? Could that extra defense just go away at a moment's notice? Just for her to die?

"Hit me." She needs a distraction. The girl closes in with Buffy again. "Really hit me. I mean, bam. Hard as you can."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers bites her lip as she notes her reaction this time. Did she say too much? Go too far? Perhaps she shouldn't have said so much. "Heh, maybe not, maybe I'm just plucking at straws. We wont know for sure until we talk to Giles. He's a...Well, he's a very smart person, very knowledgable about a ton of stuff.."

She sighs, "Okaay, are you sure about this? I...Really don't wanna hurt you. But..If you wanna know your limits..."

She draws another deep breath, tensing slightly as she crouches back into a fighting stance, chambering her punch as she readies for an even stronger punch.

Again Buffy is afraid to go full force, but this time when she thrusts out a punch at the other girl, she goes at maybe 80 percent strength, certainly enough to kill the average human, and let's not forget that she once effortlessly punched a hole through a demon straight at around this level of strength. Let's just hope that Katsumi can take it.

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro is nervous. But it's a hopeful, maybe even partially desperate kind of nervous. She widens her stance, expecting to get nailed in the midsection again. And, indeed, that's where it lands. And this time, the force is considerably harder. "Hnf!" That one wasn't fake. Katsumi's knocked back in a stagger, her heels fumbling along the mat until she hits the suspended punching back. It throws her balance, and she winds up landing on her rear. One hand rests over her middle, the other hand propped against the floor.

"W-wow.." She swallows hard, a little strain behind her eyes. "That-.. okay.. I felt that..." Turning over onto hands and feet, the Japanese girl pulls herself back up to her full height.

"And that was full-force, right?," she asks, one hand still over the struck area.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers's eyes widen as she notes Katsumi's reaction. And hey, she fell down but she's still alive, still breathing. "Uh..K-Katsumi! You alright!" she rushes to her side, offering her a hand up, sighing a bit. "I...I dunno if that's a good idea. Are you SURE you wanna try it? I mean, I've killed superpowered demons with my bare hands before. How about you show me your limits by striking me a couple times first?"

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro totally accepts the help up. She's not too proud for that. In fact, she's grateful for being treated kindly. Yes, even on the back-end of getting socked. "I promise I'm okay," she assures. And she begins to insist that Buffy go again, full-on, to really test her limits. But then Buffy has to turn the tables on her, and Katsumi blanches.

"A-are you sure? The way you've been talkin', the force behind that hit, I mean, I'm not an idiot. There's something up with you. But are you sure you want me to /hit/ you?," she asks.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers shrugs, "Heh, I cant gauge us both unless I know both our limits. I'm reaching my limit but how about you? It's okay, I heal fast and I'm strong. I've taken beatings from demons vastly stronger than me. Go on, how about you gimme half strength?"

She tenses, zipping up her grey, pink lined track shirt all the way. Really, she's not wearing kevlar or anything, and she's not bullet proof, but pretty close, even with the thin pink tanktop underneath, and cottony grey leggings covering her legs.

Of course these days, her battle gear usually involves leather pants and jacket but not today.

"Come on, I'll only feel better if I know I can take as much punishment as I can dish out!"

Bakeneko has posed:
Half her strength. Katsumi isn't even really sure what her maximum strength is. She's been afraid to push that hard, afraid she'd destroy someone's equipment. Or someone's personal self. But Buffy can take it, right? As she says, she's taken beatings from demons much stronger than her. And maybe that track shirt is magical or something, and not just a thin level of material that won't do more than faintly disperse the impact area. It's possible!

Katsumi reaches out to set her left hand to Buffy's shoulder, as if to stabilize her. There's another brief look of concern. Her right hand doubles into a fist. She gives her another second to back out. But barring that, the fist swings inwards. It's speedy, and the strike is aimed for the pit of her stomach. She /is/ holding back on it, but the force is supernaturally harder than anything she'd been throwing at the Bronze. A couple tons of pressure, impacting into the Slayer's midsection.

Overall, a small portion of her full force. But she's genuinely frightened to go any harder without seeing what she can handle.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers is a LOT tougher than she looks, but even then, she tends to rely on speed and agility and her training to stay alive. Right now, when Katsumi focuses her punch on her, Buffy relaxes a bit, eyes closed as she settles into a kind of meditative trance.

It might normally take even trained Martial Arts Masters a lifetime to learn how to endure extreme pain and harden their body, but Buffy's technically had thousands of years to do so, through a shared consciousnes with every slayer that has ever lived before her.

But even then, Katsumi is vastly stronger than Buffy, although not the strongest she has faced. Her stomach muscles tense, folding in on herself at the blow, doing her best to absorb the blow, although even then she allows Katsumi to push her back a few steps, and she groans and shudders, eyes flying open, doubling back in pain as she clutches her stomach..

But still she's standing. "Wow..You really ARE strong..And you held back even then.." she grimaces. "I wonder how strong you REALLY are.."

Bakeneko has posed:
"HolySh**AreYouOkay!?," rushes Katsumi after Buffy's gone reeling. She doesn't often show genuine concern for the people she beats up on, but Buffy's more than earned that much. A hand reaches for her back, petting in a way that she hopes translates to comfort. And yet, as the moments tick by, it seems entirely unnecessary. Buffy /is/ tough. Much tougher than she would've expected. It's as relieving as it is surprising. "I don't even know," she admits. "I've only hit one person as hard as I could before, and she was... well, y'know Superman? She was that, but smaller. So it just pissed me off that it hardly seemed to phase'er."

No lie, it irritated the grappler. What's the point in being superhuman if people can just shrug it off, darnit! If it's gonna cost her everything she's ever wanted, there should be a payoff!

"What if I just.. I- I dunno, bearhug ya. Slowly add pressure, y'know? And when it gets too much, you can tap out." Perhaps surprisingly, Katsumi isn't saying that in a teasing, taunting way. A tapout would be a legitimate signal that it's getting to be too much, and that's a threshold she absolutely doesn't want to cross.

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers takes a moment to catch her breath, straightenning up a bit, grabbing the vaulting horse for support. Looks like she's pretending to be tougher than she really is, though one can never tell. "Huh..Yeah, no doubt about it, you're pretty strong. I mean, I know strong, I've fought some REALLY powerful enemies, including a cyborg and a 500+ year old vamp, among others.."

She shrugs, "But yeah, ooh and you hit supergirl too?" she grins, "How'd that go? I once fought alongside her and Wonder Woman, they're probably THE strongest pair of females out there in the world.." Well, probably one of the strongest humanoid types at that.

As for herself, Buffy just shrugs, "That's why you just need to practice self control, know your limits, and the limits of your opponents. And only use lethal force when absolutely necessary, like when it's a life or death situation. Or when you're fighting one of those vamps, since they're evil demons and they technically died already.."

And of course Buffy should really explain her own abilities. "I guess it's only fair that you know what I am too..I'm a Slayer. Well, THE Slayer."

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro's suggestion has been glossed over, which she's perfectly fine with. She's not keen on the idea of going too far and wounding her. Tougher than a normal person though she is, she has no idea /how/ tough. But something she says gets an annoyed look and (very!) mild shove on the shoulder. "That's what I told you I've been doing, dork," she chides. She'd already given one long-winded spiel about self-control and how vital that is to her, and then explained what she was doing in the Bronze. It's possible to infer that's what she's doing with the street fights as well, albeit to make a little extra cash on the side.

The really interesting thing here, however, is Buffy explaining herself. She steps back from her and squares her stance, arms folding over her chest. "Slayer. Like the band?," she asks. "Or is this like a 'yas queen' thing? Or do you just mean murderer?"

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers makes a face, "Dork? Heeey.." she playfully shoulder shoves her back, smirking slightly, "Well, I suppose you could try the 'slowly add pressure' way too.." she laughs at the thought though, "Not really a fan of bear hugs though, but..If it helps?" she grimaces a little.

"Yeah, I guess going up against more powerful opponents like supergirl would help too. I mean, you're most likely stronger than myself so it's hard to say.." she bites her lip, "Of course, uh..Well how do I explain. I wasn't born with these..Abilities." abilities that are starting to seem less and less remarkable by the moment, compared to all the heavy hitters out there, but..

"Honestly, I was a normal girl up until I hit sixteen. Then one day all this weird stuff happened. Ran into a guy calling himself a 'Watcher', MY watcher, apparently he was waiting for me. Then suddenly I was super strong, well..StrongER, tougher, faster, all this crazy stuff. Then these vampires appeared and I learned that I was 'destined' to battle demons and protect the innocent. Apparently that's what a Slayer is. A girl blessed with supernatural powers so she can fight monsters. Of course, I mostly stick around in Bludhaven since all the bigger places are covered by the likes of JLA and the Avengers and what not. Which is fine by me."

And that's about it..

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro relents with an airy giggle. Someone who didn't get angry at her! Of course, this was a very slight offense, and Katsumi's very aware that she's going to say and do worse in the future. She'd be extra on guard, but heck if she ever really knows when it's happening, or when she's crossed a line. But this time, at least, Buffy seems tolerant of Katsumi's crap. It may seem silly, but she's grateful for what grace she's given; even if on a subconscious level.

"So that's it, huh...?," she asks. She strolls back a few paces from her, hands linking behind her back. "Okay, seriously, f*** those other guys. Superman, Supergirl, Miss Marvel... they're not human. Or, I mean, the last one is, but she has this whooole other thing going on. What you're describing is still nuttier than squirrels***." The casually profane 'princess' twists her lips. "You're talking about monsters. Actual /monsters/. Supervillains or whatever, I can get. They're like people, but crazy. Like the mob that tried to burn that girl. Bastards, but human. What /you're/ talking about is, ah.." She hedges a little, bobbing a shoulder. "..actually scary." She doesn't like the idea of a world where real monsters exist. Superpowers is a hard enough trip to wrap her head around.

"If you ask me, and of /course/ you are - being brave enough to take on things like that /without/ having the force to punch a hole in the sun is real strength. Put'em at an even level with you? I dunno that they'd have the guts to do it. I nearly froze and got eaten because of it."

Her brow knits, lips pulling into a small frown. "I dunno why I'm even saying all this. Just, it's cool. Okay? 'Sides, you're chill enough to put up with my crap. Even Captain America couldn't hardly handle that."

Buffy Summers has posed:
Buffy Summers shrugs and smiles a little, "Heh, that is true..I guess sometimes, I just wish I had more strength, so I'm not always worrying if I CAN take on the next big bad. I mean..Historically speaking, Slayers generally have a short lifespan. Mostly because they tend to work alone and they put their life on the line every day.."

Buffy frowns softly, considering, "I mean, I'm often pushing myself, wondering when I might come up against something too strong for me to handle, and sometimes I get a silly thought like, 'Why do I bother when there are hundreds of superheroes way stronger out there?' but then again, I guess they're busy fighting their own battles.."

She smirks, "But y'know, I could always do with a little extra firepower, if you're up for joining me on patrol, sometime. Just..Try not to steal too much of my thunder.." she playfully nudges her as she says that.

Bakeneko has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro blinks, all the humor vanishing from her face and replaced with something new and rarely seen upon the delicately-featured canvas: concern. "Hey," she says, voice softening a little. "You can't die. It's not allowed. I dunno what my deal is, if I'm possessed or something, but..." Her head ducks shyly. "...you're sort've my only friend."

She very quickly veers away from the moment of vulnerability into humor, her head lifting again. "Not that that's surprising, right? I go around beating up morons in clubs, doing the World Warrior thing! Fighters don't have friends, they have less-punched acquaintances!" She flashes Buffy a toothy grin. Technically, they /have/ been punching each other. And it spreads a little further when Buffy tacitly invites her to a patrol. She can infer what she means by that. And with the nudge, Buffy gets an enthusiastic response. "Hell yeah, count me in." She sidles closer to Buffy's side, tilting to nudge shoulder to shoulder with her. "And I /guess/ I can job a little for you. S'what, ah.. friends do, right?"
