Kitty Offers
Date of Scene: 01 April 2020
Location: Little Costume Shop, Flatbush
Synopsis: Kitty dances by in Alice shop and asks for movie night advice... and hands some application papers for a scholarship.
Cast of Characters: Red, Shadowcat

Red has posed:
The Little Costume Shop opened doors early for a shop offering stuff that usually was bought only after people returned from their jobs, but the workshop neeedto be manned anyway, so opening the shop in front that was unoccupied most times wasn't much extra hazzle. Alice meanwhile was putting touches on a Na'vi mask in the back, checking a moment the current rotation of bell sounds. Bridge on the river Kwai? Sure.

Shadowcat has posed:
After their last meeting (which went better than their first), Kitty's back in Flatbush. Lockheed's strollling alongside her as the ninja with a dragon enters and looks around.

"Anyone here?" she asks, wearing her spring clothing. Which is winter gear, but minus the heavy coat. She's got her Star of David pendant against her t-shirt as she walks, boots thudding on the ground a little. Kitty's here for a reason. Actually, a fair few reasons.

Red has posed:
Alice appears in the doorway from the back when the whistling of the song starts, the sound of footsteps and off-tune whistling resonating with the marching song which was like iconic for the movie. "Sure I'm here." Alice notes as she leans into the doorframe, waiting for the song to finish. "What can I do for you today."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty smiles. "Well, here's the thing. You can help me out by piquing my interest in movie things. I'm planning a movie night for work. What would you suggest?" Kitty asks. Normal preamble, as Kitty comes fully into the shop once the song finishes.

Points for style, Kitty. Points for style too, Alice. Alice has more points. Kitty though takes a long, long look around and nods sagely.

"So" Kitty nods. "Any ideas for high school and college age kids and faculty as far as good movies go?

Oh she's here for another reason, too. She was up all night and doing paperwork, placing calls.

Red has posed:
"Depends on the theme of the movie night and if you may use R Rated movies. Star Wars marathon murders a whole day, same as Lord of the Rings including Hobbit. If you wanna go lightweight, there's tons of others." Alice says, chuckling as she pushes off the wall to get to behind the counter.

"Highshoolers? Hmmm, lemme see... How about Mystery Science Theatre 3000? also can fill a full night, and some of the movies get much better with the commentary. Pulp fiction's always a classic as is Dusk till Dawn, though only after the young ones are in bed. R-H-P-S is a great one too, and the jokes go over the head of the younger ones - though you better have a lot ot TP and stuff lined up. American Beauty and Godfather maybe, though only number one of the last one. My cousin Vinnie's like a lawyer insider and still fun for everyone!"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty looks over to Alice with a smile. "Well, let's see. It's a general movie night. I'm liking MST3000, and....hmm, what about Vinny too?" Kitty asks making a list on her phone, nodding at the choice. Glancing over to the posters, Kitty laughs. "What about about....hmm, I still think animated movies may be a bad idea thoughs. Watching Alice, Kitty nods. "Alright, listen. I was looking at movies earlier before I came out here" Kitty says looking a little tired. Watching Alice, Kitty's got her eye on a few posters. too.

"So how many movies, do you think?" she asks and smiles, looking pleased. "Would you know where to get props?"she adds and looks like she's going all in on this.

The elephant in the room is Alice's money situation, though. Kitty's got a solution for thatt one!

Red has posed:
"So? You asked my opinion on some, and I do like those." Alice almost teases as she props onto the counter, waiting. "number of vovies always depends on how long you wanna go. I mean, I had seen movie nights go on more than a day, some were 2 movies. Generally, plan like 2 hours per movie, even the 90 minute ones, because you might combine them with something like 7 samurai, which is way over 2 hours in original cut. And of course you could get them here. What you need? And rental or buying?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's eyes light up at the help. "I'm not sure honestly. I just feel like theming the room for the movie night. Okay so MST3K, right. What would be needed for that?" she asks excitedly, Lockheed (taking the form of a cat...thanks holo inducer) is working his way up onto the counter too as Kitty grabs him. "Nuh uh. You stay next to me" she says. "I don't wanna buy whatever you break"

Looking back to Alice, Kitty listens patiently, that glimmer of excitement in her eyes.

Red has posed:
"Some robot for one or two chairs in the audience? Also, depends on the episode or the movie, what kind of props you want. Generally some filmreels come good, if ou want to repeat film night. Projector. Possibly a CD with old silent movie tracks for the pre-movie?"

Shadowcat has posed:
"Good start" Kitty says with a nod. Looking over to Alice. "Good job, so what else?" she asks looking pleased. Alice is all sorts of useful, see. Kitty's found somebody amazingly useful. With props and, ah yes, yes...Kitty's not well versed in props. That's Kitty's area of expertise.

Red has posed:
Alice shrugs some. "Well, you could go for standard movie theatre look for the room. Like red cussions and stuff. Movie props generally only make cosplay or theme nights better. Like, if you had a war movie night, you might put hand everybody a helmet and such. For Star Wars everybody gets Stormtrooper helmets or lightsabers."

Shadowcat has posed:
"And for MST3K night?" Kitty prompts watching Alice. "For MST3K night what, everyone gets robot hats or costumes?" she asks looking amused. Oh, the Xaviers students will love this one...

Kitty though busts out laughing picturing Lockheed, albeit in cat form, in a costume.

"You" Kity says to the little creature in her arms. "Do not suit a costume. But..." she says watching Alice again. "But, well, what would you suggest?"

Red has posed:
"You definitly need to lock the door and wear evil scientist garb, but really, you don't need much. After all you are locked in the room to be tortured by B-movies and stay sane by commenting on them." Alice remarks with a chuckle.

"Well, if you'd go dusk till dawn, hand out a few nerf guns. But really, you don't need to dress up for movie night unless you do a theme night. Like, wear your fellowship costumes for LotR."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Did you just suggest giving a bunch of high schoolers and faculty Nerf guns?" Kitty asks. Hey it's fine for her, she can phase out the room, but not everyone can. "I think that's off the table" Kitty says quickly. "Stick with MST3K then and not get anyone with Nerf dart injuries. See, I'm looking out for everyone" Kitty nods.

Red has posed:
"I never said to give them the darts." Alice notes giggling, but then shrugging. "So, you just came in for movie tips?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty snorts. "No, you said give them Nerf guns. Darts are assumed" she offers. "Actually, no. I came to talk with you about a scholarship" she says with a nod. "I was looking through my paperwork, and I remembered you saying you're too poor for college. I have a few ideas to fix that. If you want a good education that is" Kitty offers.

Red has posed:
"It is? Well, not on cons - no ammo is assumed there." Alice offers back, stretching before sighing. "What scholarship could I qualify for? Last time I looked into it, I'd have to be a quarterback or a music ace, and I ain't either."

Shadowcat has posed:
"Now hold on" Kitty says. "I can dispute that" she nods, holding up a hand. "Now, hold on. I can tell you categorically that's not true. We are both X-gene carriers and there are scholarships for us. I know this for a fact. Now" Kitty says. "What would you say, if I said I could look into offering you a scholarship so you do not have to worry about money?"

Red has posed:
"Last time I checked there was not a single one I could apply for. But if you find one that I could qualify..." Alice says with a shrug, pondering about something. "I mean, I ain't a sports ace, if its a sports scholarship I won't even try to apply."

Shadowcat has posed:
"I can" Kitty says gently. "There's scholarships for....well....anything. So" Kitty nods looking over at Alice, then around the shop.

"I'll tell you hwhat. I can send you the information and see what you do with it, yes?" she nods looking fully serious. Kitty's, well, she wants to help Alice out.

Red has posed:
"Probably ot a public one. But if you have such, why not? I can look at the papers and then write my essays and what not and maybe get into the next batch of classes..." Alice muses.

Shadowcat has posed:
"You could, yes. Huh. I can let you have the paperwork right now actually" Kitty offers looking pleasd, then slides neatly folded papers out of her jacket. "Here. It's all in this stack of forms. I won't go anywhere till you've read through it and made a decisionn" she nods

Red has posed:
"Eh, that would take some time. How about... I call you?" Alice offers in return, skimming over the first page. "It's a big decision..."
