Synopsis: Kitty and Shannon talk to Poseidon about healing, Harpies, ships, and sealing wax, cabbages and kings!
Cast of Characters: Nightingale, Shadowcat, Poseidon

Nightingale has posed:
After meeting with Poseidon a few weeks past, Shannon had since been trying to get a hold of either the headmistress Jean Grey, or even better still, Professor Xavier himself. Unfortunately, attempts at sitting down to talk with both had not borne fruit, though the winged teen still held out hope that a further meeting between the God of the seas and her teachers could be arranged.

However, help seemed likely to come from a less likely source--Kitty Pryde, her guidance counselor and, increasingly, a friend. Hearing the description of a Harpy attack got the young woman's mind working overtime. It took her a few days to come to a decision, but she left a message with Kitty to meet her outside the gates for a short hike into the woods, off of school grounds. Shannon herself is in a sturdy pair of sneakers, dark blue jeans, and a plain white t-shirt; the marks on her arms from an attack of gremlins two days prior were nearly gone by now, with only the faintest hints remaining that she had ever been hurt. She has a small incense holder, a bit of incense, and a lighter with her.

Glancing over at Kitty, she takes a deep breath and smiles. "Thanks for at least being willing to listen. I've been trying for weeks to get this kicked up to the top but... yeah, no luck. That meeting with Jean got cut short, but still kind of hopeful maybe at least this can do some good."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty filed Shannon's discussions under 'needing guidance'. Which is right up her alley, too. So, so, Kitty's helping out wearing her summer gear complimented with her pendant and, yes, smart shoes. Because why not?

Kitty smiles looking over to Shannon, Kitty smiles.

"No problemm. We'll explain this" she nods looking pleased and just a litle nervous.

Nightingale has posed:
For her own part, Shannon wasn't in the least bit nervous. "There's a spot just ahead that's served well for meeting with Poseidon. I mean, the sensible place would be the lake, but yeah... after that mess with Loki there's no way I wanted any of this to be on school grounds." She furrows her brows a bit, and shrugs. "At least, not without someone up top knowing what was going on, ya know?"

Soon, the pair break through into a rather lovely little clearing, which like the rest of the woods, seems to be kissed with the first hints of spring. Some buds were starting to appear on trees, fresh shoots of green were beginning to peek through the winter's leafy ground cover, and only rare hints of snow were trapped in shadowy hollows here and there. A small brook babbled happily through the middle of the clearing, and almost as if by divine design, a flat, natural-seeming section of rock long enough for a bench rested on the ground nearby. By the brook was a small, flat rock, and it was on this that Shannon set the incense holder, and lit the incense.

"He's actually been very kind to me..." Smiling, she settles back, looking around the clearing. "Had some pretty interesting talks with him here over the months. Remind me to tell you about them sometime."

Poseidon has posed:
Legends say that, in ancient greece, people sacrificed food so that its smoke, reaching the sky, would find and sate the gods.
This offers several ideas to the common person. First, that gods eat or are somehow pleased by smoke, something that many gods would definitely disagree with. Seconds, that burning perfectly edible food is a good idea, something which several starving people would disagree with, and third, that gods must have a wonderful sense of smell and probably won't go in a panic if their home catches fire.
Of all this, it could be said that whilst lighting an incense, itself, wouldn't draw any attentions for good or for bad, if done with the intent of calling the attention of a god, this could very well work! And so it is that poseidon, considering he's doing nothing too important, is already prepared to reply to the summon.
Tall, wearing his sea green scale armour, with the golden cloak flowing down from his shoulder, he would already be godly enough even without the ageless face, the white hair, and the piercing but somewhat kind gaze that he's using, right now, to study a map spread over one of the tables of his palace. Map that is left where it was so that he may summon enough magical power to himself, channel it, and redirect it towards a teleportation spell that will let him vanish from his palace and appear, quietly and without too much famfare, a few metres away from Shannon, Kitty, the rock, and the incense.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty was going to speak when the incense is lit. She instead shuts her mouth and listens, watching quietly. She does though mull over Shannon's words. it's lining up with what Kitty saw firsthand with the Punisher and Poseidon fighting harpies with her. Who knew a winged woman from Greek myth made such a good drill anyhow? Kitty didn't. Instead, well, that goes under 'things Kitty learned'

Kitty looks over to Shannon, "You think this'll work?" she asks and looks over Shannon then to the incense.

Nightingale has posed:
Smiling, Shannon steps back ad looks at Kitty. "I -know- it will."

The pair haven't time for further musings, though, as Poseidon himself appears, just a few meters off. She sketches a more formal bow, and then... yeah. Kitty knew the winged one too well. She up and gave Poseidon a hug of greeting as well. "Good morning," she offers. "Hopefully it's not a bother, but I did finally manage to get through to one of my teachers, like we were talking about. But it seems possible you might already have met her. This is Kitty Pryde, probably one of the best guidance counselors going. And," she adds, her brows furrowing. "...from what I heard, also a pretty fair hand at dealing with Harpies?"

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon has enough time to look around, notice Kitty and offer her a nod before being wrapped by shannon's hug, which he returns.
"greetings, Shannon. Miss Pryde..." he states, nodding again in the direction of the winged woman "she used an harpy as a drill... If that counts as being a fair hand in harpy dealing then sure I guess she is. By the way" he releases Shannon from the hug "a pleasure to meet you in a less swarmed environment, miss pryde..."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty looks pleased at the compliment, "I am indeed" she nods, looking over at both of them with a smile. She'll leave it to Shannon to discuss things. It's not really her place to say though, Kitty reasons.

Besides, Kitty's recently dealt with harpies, all too recently. So she's very much sitting back and following Shannon's lead on this. This was, after all, Shannon's idea. So. Kitty's watching them both with a nod of greeting to Poseidon.

Nightingale has posed:
Glancing between Poseidon and Kitty, she smiles at both. "Well, there's two things I was hoping to bring up. One was your request to meet with my teachers and seek permission to come onto school grounds... an alliance of sorts, was it?" She sighs a little, and shrugs. "I was trying to get through directly to the headmistress and headmaster, but maybe should have started a bit lower down the chain of command right from the beginning. The other thing..." She peers at Kitty, tilting her head. "...is what is going on with harpy attacks? I thought the old stories had them as beings of hate and revenge, so what could be bringing them out now to attack, like Kitty was saying happened to her?" She cracks a smile, though. "Thank you for helping her. She's really a dear, and means a lot to students and staff alike."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon listens quietly to what Shannon is saying "lets clarify, what I want, is permission to get on school grounds without having all of your defenses targeting me... What I mean is, if any of my worshippers are hurt or need me, I want to be able to get to them without restrictions. For the sake of being fair and correct, I'm stating it before doing it." he mentions.
When speaking about harpies and the recent attack, he again clarifies "last time miss Pryde was in an attack, that I'm aware of, harpies were attacking some people in one of the, parks, someplace, in new york... There have been several sightings during the last weeks, and I am currently investigating them. It looks like someone summoned them into this world, using magic... Though, apparently, did so in a way to be magically untraceable, in a direct way, at least... What worries me is not the harpies themselves, they can be killed and not that difficult of a task if you ask me. What I am worried about, is that if they start reproducing, which they are doing, we'll have a lot more... So it's of importance both finding the summoner, and finding the nest. Not necessarily things that will be found in the same place."

Shadowcat has posed:
Reproducing harpies? Now that is scary. Still Kitty looks to Poseidon. "I can't give you that without talking to the headmaster and headmistress so everyonee is in the loop. I can argue my case for the greater good" Kitty says, "But in the end it's what is best for the school, unfortunately. If they don't see the harpies as a big enough threat..." she tails off, looking just a little jaded. "Even though the three of us have seen first hand what they can do however..."

She shakes her head and looks a little dejected at the idea of the school not buying into it. "However, that's not stopping us sorting this on our own, right? I mean, I'm fairly sure between us, we got this though" she points out. "Lockheed's half a team member, right?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head. "Ummmm... I haven't seen the harpies yet. From the sound of it, I probably don't want to, but may wind up having to sooner or later." Shrugging, she tilts her head to one side. "Now you can see why I've been trying to get through to Jean or the Professor on both fronts though, Kitty?"

Something about what Poseidon said bothers the winged teen, though. "The thing that bothers me is less about the Harpies, and more about whoever's summoning them. Because if they can call down harpies, who knows what other creatures they could summon. And /that/ could be a very real threat."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon shrugs and shakes his head slightly "me getting into the school isn't necessarily related to the matter of the harpies, it's related to the fact I know someone in there and want to be able to visit, and provide healing, should Shannon's life be threatened..." he pauses, his expression turning into a very serene one considering what he's just saying "mind you, if shannon is dying, I'll pop in and try to heal her no matter if I have to singlehandedly incapacitate all of you and your defenses, but I would like for you to be at least aware I will, and have the possibility to grant me entrance peacefully..." yes, ancient gods don't take well to restrictions, it seems.
"As for the harpies... They're, as Shannon said earlier, easy to summon because they're tied to hate and revenge. If someone had those things in mind during the summoning, well, that'd be easy as stealing candies to a kid.."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty quirks a brow. "Incapacitate all of us? I'm sure we can reach an agreement" she says simply with a wry smile. "No need to tear any of us apart. So" Kitty looks over Poseidon. "believe me, I don't do well with restrictions either. I've a knack of getting in where I can get into trouble" Kitty says, hiding a smile. "So, we need to sit down, hash all this out" Kitty offers with a nod to Shannon. "I still don't exactly want to tangle with harpies again"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods, and cracks a smile. "Probably not the greatest idea to mention tearing anyone apart," she offers, drily. Her smile turns a bit rueful as she looks to Poseidon, and she turns up her empty hands. "Next time, I'll be sure to bring some extra treats by. Cocoa, or tea next time?" She smiles at both Kitty and Poseidon, and each of them get a hug in turn. "Somehow, this will all work out, I'm sure of it."

Poseidon has posed:
Poseidon shakes his head "I don't tear anyone apart, unless that someone is deserving of such a fate. In which case, tearing apart is too much of a savage treatment. I prefer, for example, to stab them with my trident, or turn them into dolphins for the rest of their life..." he grins, is he joking? Maybe, maybe not... However he hugs shannon back, and steps backwards "anyways, let me know if there are developments. For now, I need to return to my previous activities... Be safe, the both of you." he states, and that said, as he appeared arlier, he teleports away in a burst of magical power.
