The Polymer Storm
Date of Scene: 16 April 2020
Location: Ororo's Attic - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Ororo checks on Alice, now a student at Xavier's.
Cast of Characters: Red, Storm

Red has posed:
Alice hasn't been in Xavier's for not even a full week - not even some three days in a row. And as one of the few college level students, housing hadn't yet been properly assigned, leading to her crashing in some unused room with a preliminary cardboard sign at the door denoting the inhabitant as Alice T - and boxes full of stuff stacking at the side.

Storm has posed:
Ororo Munroe knocks gently on the door that the new girl is staying at. "Miss Thompson? This is Ororo Munroe, one of the teachers. Are you in?" Storm is wearing a casual off-white dress that is similar to the color of her hair.

Red has posed:
"Door's open!" Alice tells from inside, sitting on the chair, one leg propped up on the desk. Turning her head away from it to the door, it's somewhat hard to see what she's working on. That'd be the synthleather boots she was about to put on. Or rather make, as they lacked zippers and laces and in general a way to be put on.

Storm has posed:
Ororo Munroe opens the door as she looks around. "Ah - you haven't unpacked much yet." She smiles faintly. "It's a pleasure to meet you - I regret that I have not had a chance to come by before now. I was out of town." She extends her hand. "As I said just outside, I am Ororo Munroe. I'll most likely be one of your teachers. How are you fitting in so far?"

Red has posed:
"Miss Pryde said that this won't be my permanent room for its in the wrong floor and all as they sort out the right one." Alice answers, spinning around, the one leg fully clad in the long boot, the other only molded closed to the mid thigh, the rest of the material hanging down somewhat limp. She stands, sorting the grey tartan skirt before offering her hand back. "Alice Thompson. Yea do college classes then? Pretty much still arriving. Not that I hadn't seen X-gene carriers before, I mean, I went to school in M-town, most of my school was. But College?"

Storm has posed:
Ororo Munroe smiles faintly. "Only the best are accepted into the college - or those who cannot be accepted by the outside world. You are blessed to look... normal so... you must be a remarkable young woman." She glances down at the boots, a faint smile crossing her lips before fading away like the morning mist. "What is happening with your footwear?" she asks curiously. "Did I interrupt something? I would like to see if you don't mind. And yes, I heard Ms. Pryde mention something about you being in the wrong area."

Red has posed:
"I dunno what miss Pryde pulled, but she sleepwalked into my job and before I knew it she offered me a stipend." Alice recounts it somewhat, stretching as she puts her foot back onto the chair to try to finish what she was doing, knitting the seam between the cut material, then working on hiding it by fixing the pattern carefully. "Just putting on shoes my style. Takes a few minutes, but it's worth it."

Storm has posed:
Ororo Munroe just nods. "Oh yes - we have to wory on Kitty's sleepwalking. I am glad that you came here. I admit, I didn't connect the name to you until I came in here." She decides to watch you. "You are shaping the material into a boot? I suppose that could be very comfortable if done correctly - custom garments are not cheap in this day."

Red has posed:
"Not really... I mean, I did shape the boots once, now I only knit them shut and open them after wearing. It's a hell to do texturing on a large scale. And coloring naturally isn't easy either." Alice explains as she steps the foot down, stretching a moment. "So, what you teach?"

Storm has posed:
Ororo Munroe states, "History and mythology. I have a rather... unique... take on the latter." She smiles faintly again. "For... I was convined at one point that I was a goddess. It's slightly embarrassing but it is a part of me." She nods slowly. "So - your powers revolve around... clothing?" she asks, not having heard what you can do directly.

Red has posed:
"Polymers as far as I can tell. Fake leather is basially a plastic. EVA is so to. And tires are rubber, which is also a polymer." Alice notes, eying up Ororo. "Yea a goddess? What kind of cult was that?"

Storm has posed:
Ororo Munroe sighs softly. "Specifically a tribal rain goddess in the middle of Africa." She shrugs. "I said it's a bit embarrasing. My powers are... rather on the high end. I can manipulate the weather - but it's not something I do lightly for I can cause disruptions to global weather patterns if my actions are not small and deliberate."

Red has posed:
"That's rather huge! I mean, weather manipulation... and me? Just a small manipulation of plastic. Which I use... used to make movie props." Alice says as she reaches over to one of the boxes to search something inside and tossing Ororo a chunk of red transparent plastic, in which a network of black veins is trapped. A pattern that shifts if you twist the item. "Like that one. Though I think yea have seen some of my work in te shop."

Storm has posed:
Ororo Munroe nods. "Yes - everyone seemed impressed. But my powers are not always a blessing. I have to be very careful with my emotions - I can cause unpredictable changes just by being angry - or sad - or whatever - so I have to control myself a lot." She sighs softly. "It's not always a good thing." She looks at it. "This is cool."

Red has posed:
"That was a whole afternoon of work to reproduce what some designer in Silicon Valley made by injecting some black in a fractal pattern interlayered into a cube. I think it's supposed to be some kind of alien artifact containing data and stuff, the outer shell's stil missing. Getting a proper golden brass plastic is a pain." She explains, alluding it to be form a PC game. "Yea need to control year emotions like all the time? That must be a pain too."

Storm has posed:
Ororo Munroe nods slowly. "It is. But having wild weather swings that could disrupt most of the country's weather is worse. I don't need to give antagonists against mutants more cause. So I keep myself controlled. Of course, flying is rather peaceful too, most of hte time, so that helps. I meditate and pray a lot."

Red has posed:
Alice nods, then chuckles. a moment. "So, besides meeting the new student, anything else?"

Storm has posed:
Ororo Munroe nods slowly. "Just wanted to go over a few things about getting your further education started. Did you want to try college credits here, or go to a normal school and live here?"

Red has posed:
Alice shrugs while leaning against the desk. "I think it was learnng here, because hey, I an't afford another college but got the stipend. After all I have my high school degree, even if it's not a good one."
