Date of Scene: 30 April 2020
Location: Daily Planet, Central Business Dist.
Synopsis: Friends and allies gather to celebrate superman's return.
Cast of Characters: Lois Lane, Superman, Willow Rosenberg, Timber Wolf, Nightingale, Lex Luthor, Slipstream, Mon-El

Lois Lane has posed:
It's a sunny afternoon, warm with a gentle spring breeze so that it's not too roasting on the rooftop patio of the Daily Planet. In other words, it's a perfect day for a Barbeque. Of course, it's bound to be crowded up here, even with minimal adverstising. Lois didn't want it to be too exclusive but she didn't want it to get too chaotic so most people heard about it through word of mouth, or were given personal invites.

No doubt there would be other celebrations to welcome back the Man of Steel.

There are several tables scattered about, a small stage at one end where the small live band is playing, and of course a couple of barbecues set up where juicy beef patties are cooked, the scent of smoke and cooked beef wafting out through the area.

And of course Lois is here, dressed professionally but comfy in a white crisp blouse and grey pencil skirt. Good thing she's off work today as she mills about, chatting with people.

Superman has posed:
This was going to be a great event! The weather was nice, the sun felt amazing, the temperature was comfortable, the breeze was good, and the sounds of the city were, for now, peaceful. Well, as peaceful as they could be in a city of the United States of America this size. Metropolis was Metropolis.

Moving carefully through the wispy clouds in the sky was a streak of red, blue and yellow, heading towards the Daily Planet Building in downtown Metropolis. The streak may be...kind of... looks like a bird? Maybe a plane? No, it was Superman!

Landing at the Daily Planet, Superman smiles broadly, happy to be once again defending truth, justice and freedom but today, Superman gets to celebrate his return!

In both Superman's hands were a handful, literally, of carry bags, just like the "Skip the Dishes" guys carry. The aroma of fresh baked apple pie drifts out from the carry alls being carried by the Man of Steel, his gift for the celebration.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow was dressed as usual for her: bohemian tie dye skirt, loose top with wide angled sleeves, and birkenstocks on her feet. She arrived with homemade peanut butter cookies. "Uh, hi? I brought cookies?"

Timber Wolf has posed:
Timber Wolf is here, and he's....well, he's read up on how to be presentable, so he's made efforts. His hair's combed and neatened up...and because he didn't have the foresight to ask Drake or Lar, he put gel in it to style it a certain way, which is to say, combed back. He's dressed casual. T-shirt with a large wolf's head on it, his belt, and jeans and orange boots. Brin's been busy shopping, and decided since the omnicomp said it's custom to bring a gift. So...

Brins been gift hunting for the past few hours and because it's to celebrate rescuing Superman, Brin's brought a bottle of champagne and bought a chocolate cake. Because there's no way Brin was going to ever make a cake with his paws. He's not a good cook or baker.

Nightingale has posed:
With the events of a few days ago past, and much-needed rest tended to, there was one event that a young healer in training was determined she absolutely would /not/ miss. For once, she was determined to cut loose and just relax a little bit--even if it was a bit of a ways away from home. So, not too terribly far behind the Man of Steel was an angel-winged visitor, clad in an ankle-length sundress, with daisy-toe flip flops. Her hair was long and loose, but for her trademark pale blue braid and its little silver beads.

And she did not arrive empty-handed. Oh, no. She comes bearing gifts as she lands, in the form of what looks to be a very large, insulated, covered casserole dish with a clear lid.

     Could it be?

     Yes... it was...

     ...mac 'n cheese!

She backwings to a graceful landing, her feathery wings settling in neatly behind her as she looks about for where to drop off her culinary offering.

Lex Luthor has posed:
It's not everyday that Lex Luthor leaves LexCorp Tower; most of the time, the people of Metropolis come to /him/ for (not so) obvious reasons.

Today... the Man of Tomorrow has made an exception.

By the time Superman has arrived at the Daily Planet, a LexCorp Limo was already pulled up to the front of the building, with Lex, Mercy and Hope all going to the elevator to the rooftop. Bringing a luggage bag behind them carried by Mercy, the trio ascend to the rooftop by the time Shannon has arrived.

Within a minute, Lex Luthor and his two bodyguards are walking out on the elevator, all three dressed sharply in business attire and a bit of semi-casual wear for the two bodyguards. Lex brings out one hand from behind his back, gesturing to the carry bag, "Good afternoon, everyone. I come with barbecue gifts for this get together." Lex gives an easy smile as he speaks, and Mercy opens the bag... revealing all kinds of foods and utensils for the occasion.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane has brought some ice cream for this merry occasion, and she sets it down on the already full dessert table, smiling and nodding to familiar faces as they arrive. "Shannon! good to see you! Is this your famous home made Mac and cheese? Smells good!" Brin's chocolate cake and champagne are hard to not notice and she smiles, "I don't think I caught your name last time but thanks for helping out! That cake looks so delicious!" she adds it to the other treats.

She doesn't know Willow but has probably heard of her as a magical member of Justice League. "Willow, isn't it? Welcome! Those cookies look fantastic!" to Lex she arches a brow, quite surprised he came. "Ahh, Mr. Luther, what a pleasure to meet you again..she's careful not to mention the part he played in all of this but just smiles, taking the food and setting it with the others. "Thank you." she says simply, with a smile.

And there is the Man of the hour. "Superman!" she beams, quickly crossing the floor to greet him, "I'm so glad you could make it, and did you bring food for your own bbq?" she grins, "How generous!"

Slipstream has posed:
There is a burst of blue light contrails as Drake Winters makes his way into the area. He is dressed in his Overwatch bomber jacket and his legion flight uniform. He also brought along some cheesecake. He blinks about a few times, setting the cake up along with the rest of the food, then snags himself a drink.

Superman has posed:
First, Superman walks over to the host of this event. Putting his Apple Pies on the tables provided, Superman then turns his attention to Lois, and says, "Hello Ms. Lane. A wonderful day for a BBQ. Thank you for hosting such a fun event for me. I am a little embrassed at all this attention, but appreciate the "homecoming". Of course I'd bring something for the occasion." Her enthusiasm was infectious as Superman grins.

Looking over at another guest he recognized, Superman waves to Willow, and says, "Cookies! Wonderful! I can't wait to try one, Willow. It is great to see you again. It has been too long!"

Next, Superman turns his attention to a few of the people who was there the day he was rescued from the clutches of ARGUS. "Timber Wolf! Shannon! Slipstream! Great to see you all. Thank you, once again, for your help. Without you, and the others there that day, I wouldn't be here now enjoying everyone's company! Chocolate Cake, Mac N' Cheese, cheesecake, mmmm. Nice."

Then, Superman notices that Lex arrives. Putting on a smile, Superman turns to face Lex Luthor. "Afternoon Lex. It is nice to see you. Thank you for coming today and bringing all of that. "Superman gestures to the bag Mercy just opened. "Hopefully your problems from a few days ago have all been settled, freeing you up to join us?"

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin looks over..while looking over the top of said cake too. Careful, Brin, if he opens his mouth he'll chomp on cake, though Lois taking the cake solves that and reveals a gentle, relaxed smile. Brin's on his best behavior and looks to the blue light with a grin and a wave, the sort of 'hey, ya bring anything good?' expression on his face....as he asks that. "Hey Drake, bring anything good?"

Huh. Drake's dressed up more than Brin? Well, T-Wolf is relaxed and casual, apparently he took the casual friendly easygoing vibe and took it to mean jeans and a t-shirt.

Nada wrong with that. Lex gets a look as Brin watches quietly for a moment, and nods to Lois.

"I'm Brin" he says offering a hand.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow beams, "Hi! So many people around here. You're Lois Lane. I've read you!" She looks around. "I only brought cookies. I'm not a very good cook, but I have perfected this!" She holds them up. "Uh, you are going to have vegetarian, aren't you? I forgot."

Nightingale has posed:
"I'd hardly call it famous outside of immediate family and friends," Shannon demurs, ducking her head. A rosy hue creeps into her cheeks and she grins a little sheepishly. "But it's easy enough to make for a crowd." And by the looks of it, perhaps she ought to have made two pans of the stuff instead of just one!

However, where she was shy about accepting compliments, she was equally as determined to make sure those who deserved due credit, got it. A sidelong glance, a raised eyebrow, and quirky smile are sent Superman's way, the young healer in training chuckling softly as she shakes her head. "Said it once, and I'll say it again. After everything you do for everyone else, sir, how can you be surprised at being spoiled a little? Please, just accept it as thanks long overdue for all you've done, and the inspiration you've given to so many others."

Willow's call for vegetarian has her turning to the unfamiliar woman, smiling. "Does mac 'n cheese count? It's not that vegan cheese stuff, just the real deal. But there's no meat in it."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar arrives with the other members of the Legion, dressed more casually like Brin is, so hopefully he doesn't feel -too- out of place. "Hey guys." Friendly smiles all around in general, and he is happy to see Kal finally back to himself and enjoying the company of his friends.

Though Brin gets a little bit of a side glance, as if there is a supsicion he might become a little -too- enthusiastic about the food. So far, so good though.

Lex Luthor has posed:
"The loss of life was terrible, but the attackers were dealt with handily." Lex replies to Superman amicably. "I was actually hoping to speak with you about that when you have a moment." Lex continues briefly, before he walks over to Lois. Mercy and Hope both move over to the tables and eating area, beginning to unpack the cargo they brought.

"Ms. Lane. If you have any needs for this get together, feel free to ask Mercy and Hope to deliver them." Lex gives a side nod to the two bodyguards, "They're on the clock, but I'm fairly sure that the company you have up here will be more than enough for any possible protection."

Superman has posed:
Superman places his hands on his hips, and tries to keep his cape out of the way as people start to mill around, talking and chatting. Superman pauses for a few seconds, taking everything in, and smiling all the while. Even Lex's appearance did not put a damper on the event. Taking a deep breath, he lets it out slowly, a perfect way to slow things down, and enjoy the moment. It was good to have friends.

Superman steps back as Brin introduces himself to Lois, and then Willow. He takes a second for a warm smile for Willow, and then turns to face Shannon, with a nod of acknowledgement for her comments. "Thank you. That was...amazing. You have a way with words. You should be a reporter...I appreciate that a lot. It is nice to know that the little I do to help people, makes a difference."

Noticing Mon El, Superman has a smile for him as well. "Mon El! It is great to see you again. Thank you for your help the other day. Always good to see you. I see the Legion is doing well? Slipstream, Timber Wolf here. Any possibilities on getting home yet?"

With a nod, Superman regards Lex with a neutral air. "Hopefully there was no loss of life. You wanted to speak to me about it? Well, you have me now. I'm a captive audience. What's on your mind Lex?"

Slipstream has posed:
"I am home." Drake says as he blurs up next to Mon-El's side, giving him a playful shoulder bump. "These guys are the ones lost in space and all that." He says with a grin. "Though I wouldn't mind seeing the future myself."

Giving Brin a fistbump, he says, "Cherry and strawberry cheesecake. It's legit. You'll like it."

The sight of Lex addressing them causes his brows to go upwards. "Heeeey.. you were gonna buy out my Overwatch Org at one point I believe. Sup." He says with a bob of his head upwards in a nod.

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin gives his Legion mates a look and a raised eyebrow as if he's assuring them that, hey, hey, /this/ time he'll not overdo things, Well, with Drake and Mon El here....Brin's got good company...and maybe just maybe chaperones too (if needed...)

When Superman says his name, Brin gives him a nod and a happy little smile, "I didn't know what to bring so I figured I'd take the safe option for celebrating, I was hunting around the area for a bottle of champagne and a cake that I liked the look of" he explains. "How're you doing?"

When Drake fistbumps him, Brin returns the gesture and just grins, well, wolfishly. Oh he's got a hankering for a bit of everything but...nah, be nice, Brin.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane smiles as she spies some new arrivals, "Mr. Winters! Mon-El! How nice of you to join us! please enjoy yourselves," she smiles brightly as she bushes herself back behind the table again, serving out dishes and cutlery, making some new signs for new food as it comes. To Willow she nods and smiles, "Certainly, we have vegan burgers and desserts on this table here.." she waves a hand to the table at the end, set apart from the others and with a clear sign reading ' vegan food'.

To Shannon she smiles, adding some of her Mac n cheese to her own plate, "You're very sweet Shannon, thank you." at Lex's comment though she arches a curious brow, "This have to do with those peacekeepers? I was rather hoping to ask about those too but it can wait. Please try some food!"

As for Superman, she just smiles at him, "Hey, no need to feel embarrassed, this is your big day, these people are all here to appreciate you as much as you appreciate everyone and have always kept this city, no, this world safe."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Definitely! Hi, I'm Willow. I helped a little when we went to the other world. It was very different?

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow Rosenberg says, "And to Superman, "I brought them for you. The Watchtower always has some when I take watch, but I never knew if you got some."

She blushed and handed the container over to him. Larry gets a little wave, "Hi!""

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon's face goes almost as red as Superman's cape, and her wings furl around in front of her like a protective cocoon. "Actually, I prefer composing music over prose, sir, and it's highly likely I'd be heading for a medical career. Good reporting ought to be left to experts in the field." Her eyes gleam with warmth as she peers over at Lois over the edges of her wings, taking half a step back. "But if you ever need an ear to bend or just to fly for the sheer joy of it, I'm not difficult to find."

Oh yes, the food suddenly becomes /very/ interesting. There were a few familiar faces from that night, but more than a few she didn't recognize at all. However, as she turns to purloin a plate to pile high with perfection...

...peacekeepers? Shannon goes stock still, her brows furrowing, and her wings beginning to spread outwards, tensed. Could those be anything like Sentinels? This might be a good thing to pay attention to, for sure.

Mon-El has posed:
"Honestly, we haven't given it as much thought as I expected, which is odd, I guess. But maybe it's just that this world seems to need us as much as any other." Lar admits to the question of going home. Well that and...Brainiac had been the one doing the most work toward it probably, and he...well, that's a subject that Mon-El would much rather avoid.

He smiles at Drake. "Hey Drake. Strawberry cheesecake, huh. Sounds great."

Superman has posed:
"Fair enough Slipstream. You are home. As for the future, it is amazing. Lots to do and see. You'd love it there." Superman grins at Brin. "Nice choices TWolf. It is appreciated. I am doing great, now that my friends in the Legion are here." Superman shakes his head, amused at the fistbumps. "I understand completely Mon El. This world kind of gets ahold of you and makes it tough to leave. Of course you are all welcome here. If you need Justice League help to try and get home, please, just ask."

As Lois hands out plates, Superman finds one in his left hand, the other hand with cutlery. "Thank you Lois. I'll try not to be too embarrassed at the attention. You know, you are surprisingly good at this." She did make an amazing host.

Politely, Superman makes sure he gets a little bit of everything, especially the Mac N Cheese, ensuring he takes something from everyone's offerings, even a little champagne.

"I remember how important you were Willow, in helping the League with the whole Apokolips situation. We couldn't have done it without you. You look well." Superman puts his plate down for a second, and takes the container from Willow. "Thank you." Superman then tries a cookie, and looks impressed. "Delicious!" Chewing, he puts the container with the rest of the desserts, but sneaks another cookie...for later then picks up his plate.

"Music! Of course. I would love to hear your music sometime Shannon. I am sure it is amazing." His voice was perfectly sincere. He meant it. "Medicine, impressive. A calling, indeed. Yes, we will have to go flying sometime. Sounds fun to me."

Lex Luthor has posed:
"The one controlling them has gotten rather bold of late." Lex notes almost in side note to Lois, "I was going to discuss it with him-" Lex gives a nod to Superman, "-to the side, but I'm happy to let you in on the conversation if you like. The more people know, the better at this stage." He gives a glance to Drake then, "I remember. Negotiations broke down after your 'retirement' due to other factors."

Then, Lex turns back to Superman, "I have a location and a name for the person responsible for the enslavement of the original Peacekeepers... and the one making the new units. I'm sure you realize at this point the damage they can do... and the attack on my research complex makes it clear that he doesn't care about the collateral damage he causes to advance his goals." Lex takes on a slightly warm smile, "It's in the interests of the general public that he be stopped... and your Justice League and the Legion would be one of the few capable of resolving the issue."

Slipstream has posed:
"Well, I was the best player on the team after all." Drake humbly says with an amused grin upon his face, then takes a sip from his cup of drink. Most likely a soda of some type.

He looks over curiously at something that Superman says, then glances back over to Lex as he starts in with his own info-dump.

"Huh." He looks over to Lar curiously. He is the leader after all.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
She smiles, and blushes, "If it wasn't for the others, you wouldn't be safe. I just kinda, know ya.." But she's pleased.

She piles up the mac'n'cheese. "It looks amazing!" And she almost walks into Lex. "Oops, sorry! I'm Willow by the way." But she doesn't know him. "The mac'n'cheese is good, by the way."

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois Lane peers thoughtfully at Lex, all ears. "Ohh really? Sounds like a good story lead!" oh sure, she's off duty right now but doesn't mean she's not always looking for another good story. As she listens, Lois munches slowly on food, trying a bit of everything, "Mm, so many talented cooks!" she smiles nods nods, washing it down with some cold ginger ale. Ok, so some of this food is not terribly healthy but it still tastes good in a warm spring day!

Mon-El has posed:
Lar nods appreciatively at Kal's offer. Then he frowns as Lex begins talking about the problems he's been having with the Peacekeepers, and requesting the help of the Legion. "Who is this individual? And what goals is he serving? Does he have some kind of grudge against you? Or is it something else he's after?"

Nightingale has posed:
One of the few capable. Ha. Shannon just cracks a smile and says nothing on that particular matter, making a mental note to do a little research later upon arriving home. She didn't like the sound of these 'Peacekeepers' one bit. However, it sounded as if it was largely under control. Perhaps it was best to simply watch, wait, research, and observe for now.

Was there a shade of red more fiery in hue than that flowing like a crimson waterfall in the wind from the shoulders of the Man of Steel? If so, then surely they must be in the young healer's face. "It's far from amazing, but you're welcome to hear sometime." Please, please, don't make her sing here and now. The last time she sang in front of a group, all hell broke loose!

Stealing a quick glance at the table, it shocked Shannon to see just how quickly that mac 'n cheese was disappearing. Her eyebrows loft, and she giggles softly. "Holy heck. Does everyone have black holes for stomachs?"

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin's not bothered about the Peacekeepers...nah. Instead, Brin has a plate. What, did anyone think he was just going to shove fingers in food? No, no, he's at least a bit civilized, and...looks over the food as if thinking what to go for first. He wants cake, but....but....no.

Can't have cake without real food. So, he's cautiously piling things on his plate. It's not the world's easiest pile of food, but there's a bit of everything.

Watching them all he's more focused on eating rather than Peacekeepers. Sure, he can always get the...no, wait, if Lex is requesting the Legion's help, fine.

Brin's frozen with a forkful of mac 'n' cheese halfway to his mouth like a statue, though he chews on it and pauses, fork discarded for the moment as he swallows, glancing to Lex, Lar and Drake, then back to the food. Picking out a rib he chews on the meat for a moment. Nobody said the wolf had to have impeccable table manners after all, did they?

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Oh, Lex was talking about 'Peacekeepers', except they didn't sound good. Quietly she listens.

Superman has posed:
Superman notes the "...discuss it with /him/" comment, but doesn't let it affect him, as he has always done. Munching on some Mac N Cheese, Superman nods in enjoyment. "Tasty." A casual look at Shannon, as he holds up the Mac N Cheese he was eating, then, he returns to the discussion between Lex and Lois.

When Lex turns back to him fully, Superman puts his fork down and listens carefully to everything Lex says. "You have a location and a name. That is good news. They certainly can be quite destructive, and should be taken care of. We are in agreement with that at least, Lex." Superman pauses, watching Lois do her thing as Hostess.

"The Justice League and...well, I can't speak for the Legion as I am not a member anymore...Mon El can..." Superman pauses, as Mon El asks some very good questions. "Of course we will do our best to try and deal with this. Give us the information, and we can deal with it. I'll run it by Batman and Wonder Woman."

"In the meantime Lex...enjoy an afternoon off! Have some food, and mingle!" Turning to Willow, Superman smiles again, and nods. "We all do our part, and yours was a /big/ part of the reason we won the day."

Superman smiles, taking another moment for everyone, as he mingles himself, enjoying the potato salad next, almost as much as Twolf and Drake were enjoying their food. Next up...the hot dog with mustard from the BBQ was also very good. "You can sing anytime you want Shannon!"

Lex Luthor has posed:
Lex takes out a thumb drive, and places it on a table next to Superman, "His name is Henry Carver. He was the original prototype for the Hunter-Class Peacekeepers, and his chassis was the test bed for all the new technology as we developed it. As such, he's the strongest of the group... and the most unstable. He has a hideout in the mountains that will require... a bit of planning."

Then, Lex looks to Mon-El, "I have theories on his endgame, but I won't be able to confirm anything until I speak to him. What I need... is to neutralize the small army of knockoffs he's making so I can break his link to the others." He smiles, "All I ask if you let me know when you're going so I can provide the means of disabling it."

With that, Lex turns around and heads for the tables, "Now then... I'm sure you'll be interested in scanning over that drive. I myself am *famished*."

Nightingale has posed:
Wings droop, and a feather flutters to the ground, the color draining from the young woman's face. She hadn't spoken that out loud, had she? Great. Called out here and now, of all places. Was this payback for convincing Superman to accept compliments long since his due? Setting her plate aside, Shannon reluctantly withdraws her phone from the little brown leather bag that is perpetually on her person, swiping through till she finds a particular music file. It begins with a little light percussion, bass, and rhythmic guitar, till an electric piano joins in. Her voice is strong and steady, if a bit lacking in volume at first.

"Maybe my story's not like some
Livin' my life under the gun
But it's mine
And that's just fine

I've seen sorrow, I've seen pain
I'm learning to dance in the rain
Look at me
Now I'm free...."

For once, it looks as if the usually unflap-pable young woman might actually lose her nerve. Face down Sentinels? No problem. Give Enchantress what-for? You got it. Sing in public? That was a dicey matter. Still, somehow, she continues on with what must be the refrain.

"I'm going to touch the sky
Don't know how, don't know why
But now I'm gonna fly
And you can't stop me,
No, you can't stop me

I'm going to reach the sun
Hold my hand up, touch the stars
The sky is mine
And I'm just fine
I'm going to touch the sky...."

Superman has posed:
Superman looks at the thumb drive, and considers it for a moment. "Thank you Lex. I am sure we can look into it further." Looking sideways at Mon El, and then at Lois, Superman adds. "Enjoy the party Lex. Thank you for coming." Superman picks up his plate, and moves onto dessert, trying the cookies, chocolate cake, cheesecake, and several other delicacies. "All delicious!"

Taking a moment to thank everyone from coming, starting with TWolf and Drake, and next Willow. "Thank you everyone. Enjoy!" Moving to listen to Shannon, Superman drinks the champagne next, and smiles. Clapping at the end of the song, Superman says, "Wow! Impressive! Well done Shannon. You have a beuatiful voice!"

Last but far from least, Supermantakes a quiet moment to move closer to Lois, and in words only for her..."Thank you Lois. This was...amazing." His voice was filled with warmth and truth. "Thank you."

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin's sort of listening to Lex. But with the food he's got, hey, why not eat? Ribs, hot dogs, there's mac n cheese, there's a bit of everything, as he just chomps and a hot dog is gone, looking pleased as he's chewing...then wait, wait, is that winged girl singing? Swallowing quickly Brin looks pleased and nods as if telling Shannon keep at it, she's doing great. Watching her, he briefly glances to the Legion with a look that all but screams 'do /not/ make me do that'

Cause no. Yellping 'sprock' does not make a song. Leave that to the folks much better trained...

Do what you do best, Brin. Eat and punch things and yell 'sprock' and all that.

With that being said he decides okay, okay....and looks to Superman as T-Wolf opens the champagne. He's not responsible and has one eye on teleporting back to the cruiser. Though to be fair, Drunk Brin and teleports aren't a good idea. Does he really want to sprawl out in the crew habitat snoringg?

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow gives Shannon her due at applause. As far as she knows, that is a perfect end to the bbq.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar listens to what Lex has to say, glancing at the drive he provided. "Henry Carver, hm." he nods. "We will do what we can. I'll have to go over the data with the rest of the team and get back to you."

Nightingale has posed:
It's confirmed. New shades of red have blossomed into existence, hidden in seconds behind a feathery, winged shield. In a tiny 'meep' of a voice, there's a very simple, "Thank you, sir," and the young woman steps back. Hide after this? Yeah, no. Not in the cards now. She tries to keep a smile on her face, till she can fade into the crowd.
