Cast of Characters: Prismatic, Cyclops

Prismatic has posed:
Allegra Caradenza was not well known within the Institute, and for that, she was thankful. The missing heir to fame and fortune was working quietly in the office given to the music department, where she sat at her desk with a cold cup of tea on the corner, a spreadsheet open on the computer ahead of her, and a stack of teaching b ooks, musical theory books, and fencing sheafs to the side. She had a pair of earbuds in a sshe hummed along with Baroque music, penning something in her logbook and then correcting a grade on the speadsheet.

Alexis Carr was more than happy to remain on in the position of music teacher, and she had suggested -- though maybe not with Sam present, the worrywart -- that she was seeking to stay on longer than a few years, in various positions.

Cyclops has posed:
There is a light knock on the door from outside before Scott Summers makes his way inside. He is wearing a pair of slacks, a buttond down shirt and his tie which is slightly loose about the neck. Classes are over and that means he can allow himself a bit of breathing room. Though he may cut a nice image in a suit, he prefers the comfort of jeans, or his uniform.

"Good afternoon, Alexis. Got a minute?" He asks as he pauses by the doorframe, so not to interrupt terribly if she is in the middle of something. He's wearing his ruby quartz RayBans as always, sleek and curved just slightly to fit him properly so that no beams may leak.

Prismatic has posed:
The brunette jumps a moment at the knock, and she takes her earbuds out.

"It's open!" she calls out, turning in the tall stool, and gives a raise of her eyebrows as Scott walks in.

"Good afternoon, Scott. How can I be of service?" she asks, taken aback a moment, and purses her lips as her mind races -- of course, going to the least obvious conclusion: she was being fired! Her father said something or tracked her down and put the school in danger! How horrible!

Cyclops has posed:
"Just wanted to check in and see how you're doing." Scott says as he heads his way in, giving a critical glance about the office to see what may have changed since she started moving her things into it.

Once he approaches her, he reaches out for a chair and pulls one over, then turns it around so that he can settle upon it, straddling it as his arms cross over the top. "How have you been fitting in? You've been helping us out for awhile now and I've heard some positive feedback from some of the kids as well as a few faculty members."

"Everything going okay on your end?"

Prismatic has posed:
"To be honest? It's a dream. And tough, sometimes, depending on who's in the class that day... but I think I'm getting the hang of it." Alexis replies as she turns to Scott. "Probably once the students stop referring to me as 'Sam's Girlfriend Alexis' and more 'teacher type person Miss Carr' it'll be a bit easier." she jokes, "Although I've noticed a fair amount of the students do refer to others by their first names."

Cyclops has posed:
"Make sure that they call you by your proper name. Miss Carr. Respect in the classroom is important. The lessons they learn in here, are lessons they need out there." Scott says as he gives a glance out towards one of the windows. "Even if they are mutants. They need to break bad habits, especially within the classroom."

"It will be even more important once you accept my invitation to become a full time member of our faculty, and to represent the school as our performing arts instructor. That is, if you want it." He levels his ruby gaze into hers, studying her reaction, measuring her. There is no outwardly expression upon his face besides interest. Though he may look 'relaxed' in his posture on the chair, his face is as stoic and straight lipped as ever.

Prismatic has posed:
"It will be a lesson in itself, Mr Summers." Alexis replies with an easy smile. She got along well with the 'head of admissions', and it felt good to have someone as serious-minded as she on hand.

However, his next statement makes her jump a bit. "Performing arts instructor? The full time position? Me?" She stammers a moment, and folds her hands in her lap a moment, trying to contain the enthusiasm. "Of- of course, yes, I accept absolutely. That's wonderful."

Cyclops has posed:
"Good. I already have your acceptance package waiting in your mailbox. Let me know if you have any questions, or concerns. I believe you will find the salary to be acceptable." Scott says as he tilts his chin upwards. "Pending you can pass a proper background check of course. We do have to claim you as an employee, W2's and all."

"If that is going to be an issue, I'd like to know now, so that I can resolve it before we file any paperwork."

Prismatic has posed:
"About the only thing we'll have to do is use my real name, so that I... exist in the United States." Alexis admits, and rubs the back of her head. "Unless we go through the trouble of establishing a false identity, but y'know, maybe it's time. After all, who wouldn't want an international virtuoso teaching at their establishment?"

Cyclops has posed:
"That's up to you, Miss Allegra." Scott says with a slight twitch of his lips, a sign of rare amusement before he straightens up in his chair. "Undesrstand that we do operate differently than most institutions. There may not be a lot of secrets in band camp here, but we respect your privacy outside these walls. If you need to remain anonymous here in the States, creating legal paperwork for you is not an issue for us. We have done it plenty of times in the past."

"I will let you think about it. Take time to figure it out. Your safety is important." As he pushes himself up, he makes his way towards one of the windows, staring out across the yard.

Prismatic has posed:
"... my safety isn't as important as the school's, Scott, and we both know that. I might be bulletproof, but the students here aren't... and most of them have been through enough." she replies gently. "Sam had also mentioned extra training and extracurricular work, and I want to let you know that I'm interested in that as well." she states, studying Scott's reaction in cuiosity, her lips giving a slight tick, her eyes narrowing just slightly as she watches him.

Cyclops has posed:
"We have rocket launchers that we can immobilize from the front yard that are tucked away under the lawn." Scott says with a grin over his shoulder towards her. "I am not going to pretend to be blind, pun intended, that you are not aware of how we operate around here. I do pay fairly close attention. We are hardly subtle around here. Let's do this. Sign the acceptance letter first, once you figure out what you want to do about your background check, then you and I can spend some time in the Danger Room together so I can evaluate your current handle of your powers and your skillset. I know you can use a sword, at least to fence with, but I want to know the range and scope of your ability before I decide how to develop a plan of success for you. Does that sound fair?"

Prismatic has posed:
"... I was hoping you wouldn't have guessed that I knew a little about the weaponry. Sam is not the best at keeping secrets from someone trained by high society to find them out." she counters, and she gives a smile. "Will that include playing pirates? I hear that's all the rage." she jokes with a laugh. "I'll sign the papers, let's just keep it to Alexis -- would hate to confuse everyone." she gives a slight smile, and folds her hands in her lap.

"Thank you, Scott. Knowing that you and Jean trust me enough with the students means the world to me"

Cyclops has posed:
"Sam is not good around pretty women in general. Sometimes I wish I could duct-tape his mouth shut." Scott says with a chuckle. "And playing pirates is 'advanced' Danger Room simulations." He jests to her. "But I am sure we can find a role for you on The Black Flag. You can operate the canons."

"And you are welcome, Alexis. This school is not just a sanctuary for children. It's a home for all mutants." Except perhaps a handful. "I should get going and meet with Jean to deliver the good news, then take her to dinner. Friday nights is one of the few rare times we can get away for each other and just talk."

Prismatic has posed:
"Which is, of course, incredibly important for all relationships to be able to unwind." Alexis gives a smile, and gives nod to Scott. "I shall fetch the paperwork from my letterbox shortly and I'll have it gone over and signed by the morning. Thank you again, Scott, be safe out there tonight."
