Chit Chat and Coffee and Conner (and Kitty)

Synopsis:	Kitty meets up with Conner and has coffee, cookies and a chat with him.

Superboy has posed:
Sundays most of the ESU college is closed, so the students living in the area tend to gather in coffee places and similar. Like Conner here. He came with a tablet and meet a couple classmates, and now they are gone, he remains, with a bottle of malt. Coffee is not really his thing, and caffeine does very little to his metabolism anyway.

He prefers soda or chocolate. None of that here, so he tried malt. The bottle is still half full a couple hours later. But his readings are almost finished.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's not a classmate. She is, mind, a faculty. Just not at ESU. Nah. She's also spied Conner and waves to him, her own coffee sat on the table in front of her with a book open. There's the rustle of turning pages as Kitty's reading quietly to herself and watching it all from over her book. Looking over at the counter then sweeping her gaze around, Kitty shakes her head and smiles.

"Do they have those almond cookies here?" shee asks.

Superboy has posed:
Conner has enhanced senses, but if he is looking the other way, there is no way he can use them. Waving at him gets no reaction, he is reading. Talking, though, that works. He raises his gaze and meets... "Kitty?"

He is bad with names, hence the double. But, of course, he recognizes the young woman. He never forgets a pretty face. "Cookies, uh? That is a good idea. I mean, I don't know. But we should investigate."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty grins, "Yes that's me" she says and smiles. Indeed, investigating for cookies is a great ideas. That's not a bad thing. Getting up she waves Conner over. "Hey you. How's things?" she asks with a smile. "You been keeping out of trouble?" she adds and pushes her chair in, leaning on it as she listens, ears pricked up.

Superboy has posed:
"Trouble? Me?" Conner grins. "Why, I am just a regular college student, no trouble here." He gestures for the girl to sit down at his table. There is room, since when the others students left and took their coffee mugs with them. "Want to check the cookie menu or ask the waitress? Hmm, I have the shop page somewhere here," he mentions, checking on the tablet.

Shadowcat has posed:
"Sure!" Kitty says and slides into a chair after phasing through it discreetly. "Okay, so...you do that, I'll finish my coffee. You want anything like a cookie or something?" she asks, fully ready to pay for cookies, donuts, muffins, whatever else, coffee, or...well, whatever they do.

Superboy has posed:
Conner blinks. He definitely noticed the phasing. More and more it looks like all of Megan's friends have superpowers. He half-grins, "I found the list," he shows the cookie list to Kitty. Almond included.

"I guess I could eat something," he admits. Not that he is really hungry, but who could say not to pastries? Well. Yeah, some people. Conner won't! "What are you doing here? Are you an ESU student?"

Shadowcat has posed:
"I'm off work and I figured I'd come to the big city and be tourist Kitty for the day" Kitty offers with a smile. "Not ESU student, no. I'm actually employed elsewhere" she explains and does a little 'squeee' at the idea of almond cookies however, as she looks amused and quickly goes down the list. Okay, is this cookie heaven or, or, something? She can't say no to cookies or pastries either. Which is good.

Watching Conner, Kitty grins again. "So you're an ESU student. Hopefully, you're keeping out of parties all night and copying your coursework" she jokes, "Although, you look respectable and smart however so"

Superboy has posed:
"I am going to all the parties and still getting good grades," protests Conner, still grinning. "Work hard and party hard, y'know?" He takes the table back and puts an order. Who said Kitty would have to play? That is not allowed. "I didn't enroll in college just to study, there is a lot I want to learn, but also a lot I want to experience."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty smirks, "Ah, so you're managing all this. Okay then. Color me genuinely impressed" Kitty shrugs and looks relieved. See. See. Not /every/ frat kid is in college to....no, no. Conner's no frat kid loud mouth. Instead. Kitty already has mentally picked out quite a few cookie types she'd like.

Starting with almond, from the top...

Superboy has posed:
Conner is totally a frat guy, who also manages to go sleeping about three hours every two nights. Having days that are effectively six hours longer than the other students gives him an unfair advantage. That is how he can party and study enough. And he is also doing the super-hero thing.

Checking Kitty's choices makes him chuckle. "You are hungry!" He accuses, adding a muffin and a chocolate cookie for himself. "Do you have your coffee thing already?"

Shadowcat has posed:
"I do, and I am" Kitty says with a smile. Watching Conner, Kitty nods and stretches a little, enjoying this too much, Glancing over the menu again, Kitty shakes her head. "Oatmeal raisin cookies. What's the deal with that?" she asks with a knowing smilee...the sort of smile that oatmeal cookies are not a good idea. Nope.

Kitty looks into her coffee for a moment then back to Conner. "You want any coffee?"

Superboy has posed:
"I would try that!" Replies Conner with a grin, giving Kitty's an appreciative glance. "But no, no coffee. I have tried every flavor and can't get used to the taste. Not that this malt thing is much better."

Look: he is a college student that doesn't drink coffee. They are an almost mythical species.

"Did you come here alone or waiting for friends?" He asks, as the order arrives.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's innocent about the stretching, and looks to Conner with a shocked gasp. "You..." she says. "You don't drink coffee and you're a student?" she assks watching Conner like he's a unicorn now or something. Kitty shakes her head and is amused. She's finally, finally met this mythical species of non-coffee drinking students. Mark this day down in history!

"I came here on my own" Kitty offers, examing the cookie and Conner out the corner of her eye. Oh she knows how that sounds alright, she came alone. Just Kitty. Not even Lockheed this time, she finally got him to stay on her Vespa. Which is outside

Superboy has posed:
"I get that a lot," confirms Conner, grinning again. "I guess I get all my caffeine from soda," he suggests. "And I came here to meet with other students, I swear everyone else is the ESU is an addict to coffee. I am going to blame Lex Luthor."

Still the Metropolis Kid, you see.

Shadowcat has posed:
"That's low hanging fruit!" Kitty protests munching on the almond cookie but she's grinning as well. "That's like blaming Loki for everything. Alright, we know he's guilty but really. Easy target" Kitty adds listening. "See, that may be a student thing. Coffee, soda. Caffeine's in it. I'm addited to cereal. No joke. I was studying in England, and I'm still eating as much cereal as I can get away with for food. It's helpful when you got friends who can cook, unfortunately I needed to explain what kosher food was to them. Aside from that" Kitty adds looking pleased. "They caught on quick"

Superboy has posed:
"Lets blame cereal addiction to Loki," offers Conner as a compromise. "England uh? All gloomy and rainy all the year? I came here from Hawaii. I want to return there after college. I miss the sun and the beaches too much."

He tries his own cookie. Unsurprisingly, he likes it. Half of it must be chocolate.

Shadowcat has posed:
"London, yes. Or more specifically, Oxford. All green and pleasant and rrual. Hawaii sounds beautiful mind. Okay, no. No" Kitty offers holding a finger up. "How about we list what we can't blame Loki for? That'd be quicker" Kitty adds with a nod, eyeing Connor's cookie suspiciously. It's true. Half of it must be chocolate.

No way Kitty would get that sneaky given she's got good intentions. Which is why she's here chatting with Conner. Looking over her own cookie she's noting the lack of chocolate. Maybe she just has weird tastes though? Maybe, indeed

Superboy has posed:
Maybe chocolate is not kosher? Conner can't never remember those things. He is not even sure if Kitty saw him using his powers during the gremlin attack at Megan's birthday. Then again, he bets most people there though he was a mutant.

"Want to try?" He snaps his cookie in half and offers Kitty the non-bitten part. "I still have the oatmeal raisin coming."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty grins, "Nahh, how good is Hawaii though? And I got my own oatmeal cookie" she nods, offerring a snapped bit of the almond cookie in trade. Kitty looks over to the almond cookie and smiles, looking thoughtful. "Want any?" she adds, settling back.

Superboy has posed:
Oh well, if she is sure. Chomp-nomnom. Chocolate cookie is gone. "Hawaii is great. Good weather, good people, really beautiful. I just needed a break, though, after... something bad happened. And I wanted to go to college," he explains. "New York is good too. I am from Metro, actually. But Metropolis is a bit boring."

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty's listening. "I grew up in Illinois" Kitty says and smiles. "Ended up in New York thanks to things happening, I went to Japan with things going on, but I ended up in Oxford after the dust settled, got my degrees and came back here" she says looking accomplished. "So, yes. Follow your dreams" Kitty says with a shrug and carrefully inspects the almond cookie, then shakes her head with a knowing look at the cookie.

Superboy has posed:
"That's some serious travelling," comments Conner. He is going for the oatmeal cookie, giving it a pass, but it is not as good as the first one. "Degrees, hmm?" As in more than one. She looks his age. But he started college a semester too late due to his weird life. He still has a full year and spare change to get the journalist major. Maybe Kitty is like Tim, another overachiever. "What did you do in college?"

Shadowcat has posed:
"Comp science and English lit" Kitty muses with a smile. "It comes in handdy" she nods and looks pleased. "I can quote Wuthering Heights while building a computer. Oh Heathcliff...get this computer powering up!" Kitty says theatrically, loking amused by her own joke.

Superboy has posed:
Conner makes a brief mental calculation. Those are a ton of credits if she got major in both. Pretty much nothing in common the last two years. So, six years' worth of courses in less than four? Maybe she started early. Still would mean she was ahead in high school. "Not bad. You must have quite the brain inside that pretty head. Or maybe you skip sleep for coffee."

"I was taking college courses at 16. But" Kitty muses checking her phone, "I need to get going however. Still, it was good meeting you and hopefully your studies go good" she nods and gets up taking her cookies and coffee with her. She's left a napkin with digits scrawled on it.
