A Fairy's Tale..
Date of Scene: 26 May 2020
Location: Jean's Office - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Lyra sheds some light on the Wilder fairy war.
Cast of Characters: Pixie, Nightingale, Phoenix

Pixie has posed:
It wasn't hard to track down Lyra. After she had vacated Shannon's mind, albeit reluctantly, she hadn't wandered too far from the Xavier Mansion and had kept close to Breakstone Lake for most of her time here. It seemed out of the way enough that she didn't draw too much trouble but was near enough that she could seek help should the Goblin Prince's minions return.

These days however, things were looking fairly quiet, now that the Goblin Prince had acquired the Souldagger from Megan, and enough Pixies to create his fearsome weapon, as Jean had seen in Megan's mind.

It wouldn't have taken long for Shannon to find the little fairy and bring her to Jean's office to see her, although she is quite nervous, eyes darting around anxiously.

Megan had also come, partly because she wanted to hear Lyra's story too, and because she would be key to plotting how to find the Goblin Prince.

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon knew how nervous this must be making Lyra. She does her best to reassure the little golden muse, who had taken refuge with her for some weeks. "Hey... it's okay. Miss Grey's really very kind. I think they were just worried about me, having someone they didn't know inside my head."

She tries to offer a comforting smile, letting Lyra ride on her shoulder if she wants. "I'm just sorry I didn't push you harder to go to her for help when I should have." In her hands is a big 'ol bowl of spinach salad with a variety of toppings, and it looks like she's been munching on it for a while. Nor does she seem willing to put it down, not even for a trip to the headmistress' office!

Phoenix has posed:
Leave it to Jean to take a close interest in anyone with surprise cerebral passengers. At least this one evicted itself without needing the intervention of a fiery bouncer.

The office door is open, giving free admission to anyone seeking her out or, in this case, expected. Jean is at her desk hunched over a sleek looking laptop that looks like it's not going to be made for another couple of decades, rapidly typing out something. As the trio come through the staff hall, she looks up from her work and then closes the laptop lid after a final two clicks to save. "Good afternoon, everyone." She greets while tucking a strand of errant hair behind an ear. "Come on in, have a seat. This is our guest, I take it?"

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon nods slowly, smiling some. "I felt awful having to shoo her out, but I couldn't disobey Mr. Summers, either." Gesturing to her petite passenger, she smiles. "Miss Grey, this is Lyra, the fairy of inspiration who was taking refuge with me. Lyra, Miss Grey. It's okay, she's protective of us kids but kind as an angel when it comes down to it." She really does her best to encourage the golden pixie; it tore her heart out to see someone living in fear. Too, she smiles at Megan, standing by her friend.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn peers towards Shannon and the little fairy. She's quite cute, young and childlike, and not much bigger than maybe a foot tall at the most. Light brown skin and wavy brown hair to her shoulders, golden dress and gold-green dragonfly wings flutter on her back. She darts about the room nervously, pausing as she sees Jean and eyes widen, bowing respectfully.

"Hello Miss Grey. Pleased to meet you." she glances at her curiously, eyebrows raised as she notices something..Unusual, powerful about her. "So pretty, like a fiery bird.." she smiles faintly. Lyra nods to Shannon, moving a little closer to the angel-winged girl. Someone she is famiilar with and has developed a bond over the past few weeks. She seems less nervous near her at least.

Megan steps in too, taking a seat, nodding to Shannon with a smile, as well as Jean. "Hi, Shannon, Miss Grey.." she peers at the fairy and smiles, "Hi Lyra, I'm Megan. Nice to meet you. I love your dress!"

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey turns her head to more closely regard the little humanoid and the motion casts the sunlight further across her face and illuminating vivid green eyes. She looks ever so faintly paused, as if considering the compliment versus just accepting it, before her lips widen in a smile. "Thank you, and I'm with Megan. That dress is beautiful. I approve of the color."

She leans herself back into her chair and out of the midday sun, resting more comfortable now that she's not bowed over a screen. To the fairy, she asks, "Is it alright if I use your name, or would you prefer that I call you something else? I'm afraid you're one of the first of your people that I've encountered, so I don't want us to start off wrong with some social faux-pax. I know that names have power in some hands."

Nightingale has posed:
Names could indeed have power in some hands, or so some of the old tales went, with Rumpelstiltskin being a prime example of just such a thing. So far, though, the first hurdle of a proper introduction had been cleared. And, while Shannon had a funny feeling Lyra would not be able to stay as she'd hoped, at least there might be some goodwill involved....

Pixie has posed:
Lyra's nervousness subsides a bit, although she continues to hover near Shannon as she watches Jean thoughtfully. "Thank you." she blushes a bit and smiles at the compliment. "You may call me Lyra. That is the only name I go by." Lyra sighs, "I'm really sorry I hid in Shannon's head for so long..I guess I was afraid of being captured like the others, and Shannon had so many wonderful songs and gentle thoughts in her mind.."

Phoenix has posed:
"Very well, Lyra. You can call me Jean, or Ms. Grey, whichever you prefer." Jean says warmly to the fairy as she looks briefly towards Shannon and Megan before returning to Lyra. "Welcome to our school. I'm just glad no lasting harm came to Shannon. As you are here and have already sought refuge, then it's my duty to see that you're protected here until we're able to return you home. Which, brings me to my next point."

"What now?" This she asks towards Megan. "I remember what I saw when I expelled him, but do we have any information on where he's to be found now? I have no intentions on summoning him back here, which means we'll need to go to him to end the trouble he's causing. So I'll need know what he's capable of and what kind of fight we can expect so I can get the right people assembled."

Nightingale has posed:
Shannon shakes her head slowly. "If anything, miss Grey, I haven't been able to stop the ideas for songs from flowing since Lyra's time as a resident inside my head." Chuckling softly, she peers over at the little fairy and adds, "Thank you for that." Parasite? Far from it. Symbiotic? Perhaps more like it. She has a few thoughts of her own, and purses her lips for a moment, falling silent to listen.

Pixie has posed:
Lyra bites her lip at Jean's comment, looking a bit guilty for her hiding in Shannon's head, but she blushes and smiles faintly at Shannon. "Thank you, Shannon, I'm glad I could help, but I truly am sorry that you became a target of gremlin attacks because of me."

Looking to Jean again she sighs softly, "To be honest, there are still quite a few of us out here hiding. Most of us are hanging around the Breakstone Lake. Some of us hover around Greymalkin lane. It's not that we wanted to cause trouble, but...But..."

Her eyes get all bleary for a moment or two as she recalls her story. "When our kingdom was attacked by the Goblin Prince, our leader, Queen Selestrine was mortally wounded, and with her last power, she sent us to the closest safe place, a place full of children, whose innocence would keep us safe and with which we could thrive.." That would be Xavier's school, of course.

"We fairies originally come from the Nevernever, us wilder fae are not loyal to any particular faction, so it was easier to attack us.."

Megan bites her lip as she listens to the pixie's story and ponders. "Hmm, well...My souldagger is of course, connected to my soul. I've seen Illyana focus on finding her soulsword, even if it's miles away. I'm guessing it's in the Nevernever if that's where The Goblin Prince resides." she frowns softly, "I..Just need to clear my mind and really focus hard enough and I should be able to find it..But if Queen Selestrine is dead..Who could the Goblin Prince be after now..?"

Phoenix has posed:
"We may run the risk of alerting him, but if it's our only means to find him then we may have to take it." Jean mulls out loud. "So it sounds like then we need to get together those who will be able to work in the plane of magic, remove this prince, and in theory, that would allow the faeries to return home so long as everything is still safe for them. I'll go to help, of course. While magic isn't my thing, mental powers may fare pretty well versus physical ones."

Nightingale has posed:
"Bah. No worries, some good things came of those attacks, too. Sure, I've got a lot of learn and some growing to do, but I can handle more than I thought before." There's a quick flare of warm emotion emenating from the winged teen, and her cheeks go a little bit rosy. She can't quite help a little smile, her eyes unfocusing for a moment or two.

Perhaps inspiration wasn't all she found.

Blinking a few times, Shannon re-focuses, and continues to listen to Lyra's tale, tilting her head slightly to the side. Nevernever? Innocence? With all the things she had seen and done these past several months, had she somehow retained enough innocence to make it possible for Lyra to take refuge within her for as long as she did? Well, if the fairies would be allowed to remain by the lake, at least she could visit Lyra on occasion, even if she wouldn't have a mental houseguest.

Good-byes really sucked. A pang of sadness creases Shannon's brows as she glances between Lyra, miss Grey, and Megan. She lets out a soft sigh, and does not protest--as much as she might want to.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn hmms. "I suppose it depends on what his next move is. Plus, I may not be able to port us quite that close to be right on top of him." she sighs, "I wish Illy had given me a few more lessons...But perhaps I can talk to someone else who is gifted in magic.." Of course Morgana's name comes to mind, but...The last time they met, it wasn't terribly pleasant.

"Well, I suppose Dr. Strange is out of the country on some mission or other, sooo really, Morgana is the only magically talented individual who I cuold talk to.." she sighs. "She may also be another target of N'asroth..."

And another, important thought occurs to her too. "This weapon he's created, containing several pixies in the blade and my own soul dagger in the tip..Well it would probably contain the magic of pixies..Plus the magic nullifying abilities of my souldagger. Soo it might be quite deadly to fae. Having Xmen with non magical powers along would be very helpful.."
