Clearing the Air, Banner Style.
Date of Scene: 27 May 2020
Location: Apple Park - Salem Center
Synopsis: Bruce talks to Scott and Jean about setting up a long distance class for Xavier's, with Logan being Logan in the background.
Cast of Characters: Hulk, Phoenix, Cyclops, Wolverine

Hulk has posed:
It's been a while since Bruce has been near the school at this point, but he just called earlier to the public line for Xavier's about setting up a meeting at Apple Park. With his mobile home parked at the edge of the park, Bruce has been busy sitting at a bench situated along one of the pathways, busily typing into a laptop as he waits.

With non-descript black shirt and jeans and a baseball cap covering most of his face from the downwards angle, he's clearly going for 'incognito' today.

Of course, Scott, Jean and Logan were all informed which bench and the color of his hat (all black, today) to make it easy to spot him.

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey may be the headmistress of the school, but when it came to matters of security there were two men that were at the top of her short list that were asked in no uncertain terms to come along. Business meetings in the park called for more casual attire - black jeans, a light indigo tee, and a sheer, sleeveless, open white tunic that went down to her knees. She's moving along the paths at the expected pace for someone just on a stroll through the park, taking no mind of the many park benches she passes with her angle pinpointed right towards where Bruce sits.

Cyclops has posed:
Having driven the pair of X-Men out and parked, Scott Summers arrives with Jean and Logan. He is dressed in a pair of casual bluejeans and a button down shirt along with a fashionable blue necktie. As always, his Raybans are on and secure to his head. His hand slips into Jean's for a squeeze, fingers entwining with hers. With the three of them mind-linked, he says in a quiet, but simple manner.

<< The goal is to not upset him, obviously. We are ill-equipped to deal with The Hulk if things get out of hand. Not that I assume they will, but let's keep the posturing down to a minimum. >>

He is obviously not speaking to the bird on fire, but more the fuzzy Canadian with the claws.

Wolverine has posed:
Logan stands a bit ways off. Dressed in, well his usual cowboy meets lumberjack style. He watches Jean and Banner talk. Of course hearing Scott in his head makes him tip his cowboy hat lower as he tries not to puke.

"Yeah well between the two of us whos gone toe to toe with the other guy and lived?" Logan mumbles to himself knowing they can hear him entally too, however he doesn't wait for a reply "Me. So shut yer yap an keep an eye on Jeanie."

With that mental note, Logan pulls out a cigar and lights up. He looks more like the Marbro Man went Canadian now. Of course smoking a cigar in a public park still gets him the stink eye from the PC loving hippy beatniks of the modern-day.

Hulk has posed:
As the trio come into view, Bruce looks up, and gives a friendly wave. "Hello. I'm happy to see it's only a couple of you." Bruce notes, his laptop being closed as he watches them approach... and his hands fold in his lap.

"So. What can I do for you? I was doing some occasional mentoring to someone in your school, and I hear you want it stopped? I stopped, but I'd like to discuss this, see if we can reach an arrangement that works for both of us." Bruce asks, politely.

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey almost rolls her eyes, almost, but reins in the impulse before it develops beyond a faint furrow in her brow. Security? Yes. Tiring? Also yes.

<< Easy, boys. If he gets worked up over being told that now isn't a good time, then I've heard the wrong things about him. We're just here to talk, not start an incident. >> She says to her companions through the link she's got going. << It'll be fine. >> She just hopes it came through sounding as confident as she intended.

"Hello, Doctor Banner." Jean says to the man on the bench as they come within reasonable, audible speaking range. "And of course, let's chat. Things have been a little off sorts lately, so my apologies I wasn't able to just come and speak with you directly before now. I assume that Shannon relayed my concerns, so if you have any questions or clarifications then let's start there."

Cyclops has posed:
<< Nevermind. Let's rile him up. I wouldn't mind watching him punch Logan into the next zipcode. >>

There is a brief twitch of Scott's lips as he gives Jean's hand another squeeze. He glances over to her, amused, though his eyes are hidden behind the red shades. It only lasts for a moment until he is back to his more stoic, professional demeanor.

"Afternoon, Doctor Banner." He says polietly to him.

Wolverine has posed:
As much as Logan would like a one on one chat with the big green goliath he has other problems right now. That is in the form of a very anal hipster. " 'Sucse me sir, but you're not allowed to be doing that here." he says to Logan as he points to the cigar.

"What? Ya gotta be kiddin, I'm outdoors and I ain't buggin no one with it." Logan answers the dillweed talking to him. He does with her could cut the bastard head off. But he's being a good boy these days.

"You are damaging the air with your vile fumes. Now please put it out before I call the police." This causes Logan to let out a verbal and mental grumble. "Goddamnlilshitthinkshiskindrunstheworld."

Hulk has posed:
"A couple things. First, while I wouldn't mind being a substitute teacher at your school, I'm very aware that doing so would attract far too much attention and draw my own enemies there when they find me." When, not if. At least he's being honest with himself.

"Secondly, it was never my intention to be known to be going to your school. I specifically went incognito for my latest visit so I didn't rile anyone up." Bruce continues, "however, since even going incognito has been rejected, I will be staying away from your school. I was thinking of doing something of a distance learning situation, if there are no objections to that?"

Phoenix has posed:
"I know you didn't have any ill intents, Doctor Banner." Jean says gently as she loosely hooks a thumb in one of her belt loops. "It's truly nothing personal. You have insight no one else does and that they could learn from, but at the end of the day keeping them safe so they *can* learn. The enemies were one concern of mine. We all have them, I just only have so many hours in the day to plan for new ones. If not from people like all of us, then, even ones like that."

There's a faint wave of a hand over one shoulder towards a wild, man-bunned, Karen encounter. Logan's probably got this. "You're known, and it could bring scrutiny on the school that we can't afford given the students we keep. We can't afford anyone thinking there is more to find. Distance learning, though, could be an option." She looks over towards Scott then, clearly looking for his opinions on the matter.

Cyclops has posed:
As he straightens up, Scott tilts his head slightly over his shoulder towards Logan and the hipster, then back to Doctor Banner. "I agree. A remote, distance learning session would be optimal. This is not a kind world for us mutants. Where the world may see you as an Avenger, a great hero, they look at us as genetic timebombs, waiting to blow a city up. This school is a save haven for children who seek refuge from broken homes, the streets, and to have a chance of feeling normal as we prepare them for a world that hates them as adults."

Tilting his chin upwards, the sun reflects off his red Raybans. "If any of the Avenger's enemies were to track you down to our school, it could cost many lives of those who promised to keep safe. But, saying that, we are more than happy to work on a virtual course with you to help enhance what Doctor McCoy has already put together. Those who are over eighteen and are technically adults, I don't see a problem with them meeting you off campus for some more personal education, provided you can ensure their safety."

Wolverine has posed:
Form the distance they can not hear what's being said. Though a whole pantomime conversation is going on. Logan holds his cigar out in front of him pointing to it as if explaining what it means to him. The conversation is going well, even causing a few people to come closer. Even a pipe-smoking hot dog vendor.

All things are going well till the hipster pulls the ultimate no-no and goes after the cigar. With instinct and reflexes Logan offers the man an open-handed 'bitch slap' which causes the man to release a high pitched squeal. The sound sounds more like a bird chirp from a distance.

Logan lowers his hand and cigar in shock as the people around him are a mix of giggles, gasps, and one hotdog vendor shaking his head in shame. The hipster on the other hand turns to Logan with tears in his eyes just before running off.

Hulk has posed:
A note is taken from his shirt, and handed to Jean. "My email and a private line I setup. I usually use burners for obvious reasons, but if this is going to be long term, you'll mean a reliable method to contact me." Bruce points out. "Just send me the details when you have time, and we can work on getting something setup.

Then, Logan gets a look, "What-"

The smack could be heard from where Bruce is, and he frowns slightly, "-looks like i'm not the one you need to worry about drawing attention." Bruce dryly continues.

Phoenix has posed:
Reaching out, Jean collects the note with a nod of her head. "Perfect. We'll get a spot set. Get me a list of what you'd need any students to have available so we can make sure things are stocked. Books, supplies, those sorta of things. Classes are basically done for the year, so we have plenty of time to work wi--"

When it registers someone did not just step on a pigeon, the readheaded woman turns to look over her shoulder. << Okay, as much as I didn't realize a human could make that kind of noise... really, Logan? >> She's trying to sound chiding, she really is, but there's something vaguely amused in the tone.

"Right, where was I..." Jean refuses back on Bruce. "That back there aside, this should help keep everyone safe. We'll just need to work out transport and security if any of the students go off campus, but we can deal with that on a one on one basis for applicable students. Also, here." She reaches into her pocket to pull out her wallet and fishes out a matte business card embossed with the school's name in dark metallic pewter and her own in gold. "That has my personal line, so you don't need to ring the public school number or the 'business emergencies only' line."

Wolverine has posed:
Logan looks to the crowd who are talking about the incident. This causes him to lowers his hat some more. Not before the pipe-smoking vendor gives Logan a nod of respect. Quickly snuffing out the cherry on the cigar, Logan puts it and his hands into his pockets and starts to walk away from the scene. As he passes the bench at which Jean, Scott, and Banner sit he grumbles. "I'll be in fucking the car."

Cyclops has posed:
There is a low sigh from Scott as he glances over towards Logan, then back to Bruce and Jean. "Our apologies." He says in regards to the Wolverine's behavior, though he can't fault him either. Some people just need to mind their own business and personal space.

"We appreciate you meeting up with us, Doctor Banner." He says as he gives him a quick smile. "I am sure the students will be thrilled to hear of this compromise. There is not a lot of people better to learn the sciences from."

Hulk has posed:
"I try to do what I can to help the world be a better place. It gets hard when The Other Guy tends to ruin my progress, though." Bruce notes, with a hint of bitterness.

Then, he takes the laptop, puts it in a satchel to one side, and places that on his back before he stands. He holds out a hand for a handshake, "I look forward to working out the details sometime soon, then."

Phoenix has posed:
"None of us who have seen what's in the world can say that it plays fair." Jean says somberly as she reaches out to take the offered hand for a shake before she summons up a smile. "But, maybe some day someone will figure out the trick. A pleasure to speak with you, Doctor Banner, thanks for meeting up with us. I'll be back in touch soon."

She hears Logan as he passed, or at least she thinks she does by the slight twitch at the corner of her mouth. This time she says nothing, only waits for any last words from Scott before she'd move to head back towards the car.
