It's Complicated
Date of Scene: 30 May 2020
Location: Crew Habitat - Legion Cruiser
Synopsis: Lar and Tasmia have a frank conversation.
Cast of Characters: Mon-El, Shadow Lass

Mon-El has posed:
Lar returns to the cruiser after that little picnic on Earth for Kal. It was nice, to be able to enjoy some off-time, though now he is intent on learning what information he can about this Henry Carver individual.

Some of the things that this Lockdown person had said previously were also fairly concerning. But he hadn't heard anything on that front lately.

Shadow Lass has posed:
Shady was quiet, for once not engaged in her afternoon practice. When Lar reappears, she considers: should she disappear? And for one brief minute, she thinks after at. However..

"Hi." She doesn't move, but neither does she welcome. "You had a good afternoon? Was.. Superman wasn't it?" Not what her initial question was.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar turns as Tasmia enters, suddenly appearing somewhat uncomfortable, similarly to the last time they saw each other. Though he is trying to conceal this fact. "Uh, yeah. Just a little celebration of the victory we had over CADMUS and Apokolips. And whoever else was behind all that. It was...nice."

    "How are you?"

Shadow Lass has posed:
"Good." Shady allows a little smile. "You did good. You should be proud of the things you have done." As if she remembered, she nods. "Me? I took the afternoon off. I had things to think about. Can I ask you something?"

Mon-El has posed:
"Sure, but I won't discount the fact that we all had to count on each other to get Kal out of that situation." Lar replies, nodding. "It was a team effort, really."

Then she says -that-. Oh, great. Here it comes...the dreaded question. Punch through buildings? No problem. Navigate relationships? That's a different story!

He's almost tempted to tell her no, please don't. But that would be rude. And probably make things worse. "Umm, sure--what's up?"

Shadow Lass has posed:
"I've thought about this, to no end. The thing is, we weren't actually a couple. I can't imagine if I am angry at you, or myself. I didn't make any effort on my end. I'm not angry for loving an earth girl. In fact, it's none of my business. " Shady sighs. "Was she good to you?"

Mon-El has posed:
Lar fidgets, glancing at the floor momentarily, then back up at Tasmia. "I--um...I'm glad you're not angry at me for that. I guess..." he pauses, unsure of exactly what to say. Right, he knew he was going to botch this. "If I hadn't lost my memory, I'm sure I would've been...more hesitant...to..." No. He sighs, shaking his head. "Yeah, she was. I was the one who couldn't reconcile it with my--with my family situation." There were other reasons, but he'd rather not discuss them.

Shadow Lass has posed:
She shakes her head slowly. "None of this is that I want to. Damn. Why aren't you different. Like telling me lies. It would be easier, do you think?" Shady shakes her head, and gives a wry smile. "Want to do what I did? Simple. Work. I pretended it just didn't matter. So well, I believed it."

"So, now what."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar laughs nervously a little bit. "What? No, you know me, I'd never lie to you. Or anyone on the team, for that matter." At least not about anything like this.

Right, simple. Everyone seems to think everything is simpler than it actually is. A long sigh. "I...I don't know, to be honest. It's complicated, Tas. I'm not even sure I can explain it all."

Shadow Lass has posed:
Shady nods at that, "No kidding. I don't really know either. At least you can yell at me, after all, you didn't owe me anything." She winces at that. "Can we be friends, or at least, polite acquaintances?" She tells him, "That's a joke. I know, really bad."

Mon-El has posed:
"What, why would it be a joke? Of course we can." Lar says quickly. "The Legion is a family, and I won't let any uh...complicated histories or--or confusing emotions, get in the way of that!" he assures her. Not that it would be easy. Still.

"I--don't have any reason to yell at you. None of this was your fault." He is...reluctant to admit that he still has feelings for Kara. But he also doesn't want to invalidate what he used to have with Tasmia, either. All these conflicting emotions are raging within, even as he tries to keep it together for the sake of the team.

"Look Shady, I..." Another long sigh. "A lot of things have changed. Things I didn't expect. And I'm not sure how to reconcile it all just yet. I'm sorry, but I hope we can just be friends and teammates for now." Well, it just sort of came out. Maybe not the best way to word it, but there it was.

Shadow Lass has posed:
"You didn't?? How about *I* didn't. Dammit all, you were supposed to be in my past! I don't want you, yet here you are, and I am confused. Hell, I don't even know if I want you."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar actually seems to be somewhat relieved by this reaction. "Yeah, the past, which is really the future. But still -our- past." Time is weird. "Well at least I'm not the only confused one here." he says, relaxing somewhat.

Shadow Lass has posed:
Shady looks angry, then picks up a pillow and tosses, suddenly laughing, "Dammit, both of us. You know, I would love some, what do they have, alcohol? Sometimes I want to scream about the way things have turned out." She takes a seat. "You know, you always knew me the best. I just stood up there, my outer skin as the Shadow Champion, while inside I was shaking. I need you. You're my best bud, even if I don't know what I am going to do with you."

Mon-El has posed:
The pillow sort of smacks Lar in the chest, and he grabs at it to toss it away, chuckling. "Yeah, alcohol is the popular thing here, I guess. But it doesn't do anything to me. Not much of anything that does much for me really, but you already knew that."

He nods. "We all have moments when we need each other. That's why we're more than just a team, but a family. We are here for each other."

Shadow Lass has posed:
"I know. So what, we just keep on? Things come up, and then we.. figure it out?" Shady watches him quietly.

Mon-El has posed:
"Yeah, let's just leave it at that." Lar says with a nod, sighing a little bit more. "For now, anyway. If...that's okay?"

Shadow Lass has posed:
"Yeah. After all, the alternative is no more you." Shady looks over to him. "That would really suck. Right?" She gives a small smile. "Hey, what were you talking about, at the bbq?"
