A Time for coffee a time for lines
Date of Scene: 31 May 2020
Location: The Coffee Bean - Manhattan
Synopsis: Hangover, Self Doubt, and voices of reason
Cast of Characters: Timber Wolf, Phantasm (Drago), Willow Rosenberg

Timber Wolf has posed:
The bbq had come and gone,as had the food and drinks brought. Looking over the Coffee Bean, Brin felt like he needed coffee. That's what humans id for hangovers, right? Right? He'd decided to celebrate a bit longer last night and had staggered into bed. Now he is here. Jeans, black wolf head t-shirt from neck to waist, orange wolf head, and jeans and his usual boots. Oh and his belt too. It's half costume, half too lazy/hungover to change. Admittedly, celebrating rescuing Soups...that is a celebration indeed.F
So he's a grouchy hungover grumbling in dire need of cofffee T-Wolf.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
It is mid-morning and church has long since been over for Nick but being that he's out, he hasn't quite made it back to the condo to change yet. Still dressed in his Sunday attire, his head lacks the knit cap it is used to and instead has to make do with the knub of a ponytail instead.

Suffice to say, Nick is not hung over but being he's dealt with others who have been. It is easy to recognize the signs. Judging from the outfit, possibly a super. The ones you least want to be grumpy.

Shaking his head, he amends his order at the counter and makes his purchase.

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin shuffles forward and looks just a little like he's hungover and blah. Coffee needed. Looking over to the counter Brin stares at the menu and blinks a few times. "Uh...." Drake starts sounding lost and puzzled. "Coffee. Which is the one with the most caffeine?" he asks as Brin's thinking, kinnda, maybe

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
As Nick heads over to the counter to wait for his drink, the Cashier smiles to Brin, "The person ahead of you purchased a bottle of water for you." She gestures to the fridge area. "Would you like anything else?"

Timber Wolf has posed:
It's not coffee but...maybe, maybe it'd help? Taking the bottle Nick gets a quiet nod. Timber Wolf opens the bottle and takes a drink. Nah. Not coffee?

No, not coffeee, but water is helping. Coffee though is very much needed as Brin looks to Nick, blinking slowly/

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Feeling like he's being looked at and knowing full well he gave a potential reason for it, Nick looks back to Brin. A slight nod is given. "For the dehydration." He explains. Turning back to look to the counter.

Sure, he could have guessed at the coffee preference but people have different tastes. Water is water.

Would you like to order anything to go with that, sir?" The cashier asks curiously.

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin's thinking on that as he looks over the menu. "Sure, I'll take....one of those" he adds pointing to a chocolate chip muffin as he gives Nick a nod and a little smile as if thanking him, mostly since Brin's focus is on things that can be eaten/drank to take care of hangovers. So..

Brin just glances up and down the mennu and orders a straight black coffee with cream and muffins, then gets out of the way and turns to Nick. "Hey thanks" he says finally.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
The musician gives another nod, giving a half smile as he looks to the counter. "No problem." He replies, "I recognize the signs and some people I know seem to forget the re-hydration part." He glances over to Brin, "Fun time last night?"

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin actually laughs, "Yeah had fun, but....I think I overdid it" he offers looking les liable to dry heave or puke over the floor. He smiles "You know how it is to be hungover huh? Do these friends of yours" Brin asks pausing to check the cookie selection, looking impressed. "Okay" Brin nods once he's slightly more with it. "You got any suggestions for coffee?" he asks, half tempted to mnicomp this

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Oh yes. I used to party a lot. A few friends still do." Nick nods, giving a chuckle "Just last week one came by after downing two horns of mead. His assessment of how much he can handle is off a bit."

His glance follows Brin's momentarly, "I'm more of a basic black coffee type. Which, does have some pain killing properties but coffee dehydrates you which can trigger more headaches. You'd do better with tea or water." He nods to the water. "Got to balance it out."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow *finally* discovers Nick! She'd set off in the day, proving she had it (whatever "it" was). And here she was, prize in hand, or really a cup of coffee, gloating. "I found you! Oh. Hello! You were at the bbq? Yes?"

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Hearing the familiar voice, Nick turns his head spotting a certain redhead holding a cup. She must've gotten in before them. He blinks and then smiles, "Morning Willow!" He greets, glance going back to Brin as she notices him and asks about the BBQ. "That must have been SOME BBQ."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
That brings out a blush, "Actually, I was needing a drink, so I hopped in here, and a couple more minutes, you popped in here. I didn't really find you. It doesn't count." After all, he noticed the cup of coffee in her hands. "The BBQ? It was nice. There was a really good mac'n'cheese. And some guy was telling us about these Peacekeepers. Only, they aren't. Peacekeepers. Brin was there."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Peacekeepers?" Nick repeats questionably, glancing over to the newly named Brin and then back to Willow, "Does he know about-" He pauses, holding his hands in front of his chest, balled up, palms outward before spreading the fingers open. Before nodding to her. What is the universal sign language 'You doing magic'? Nick sure as hell doesn't know based off that attempt.

Timber Wolf has posed:
indeed, Brin was there and he's here now. He's, oh yes he's listening. "Mead, as in the ancient stuff? And hey" he says with a nod and a smile, albeit rather out of it, to Willow. "What's up?" he asks her and carries on waiting patiently for his coffee.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Pretending to lean in close, "I am part of the Justice League, especially because I do magic." Willow smirks.

Timber Wolf has posed:
"Magic?" Brin asks, "Like you wear a hat and a funny robe and wavee a wand around to bring rabbits out of hats, or is it magic like point, coffee's done?" he asks. He's totally serious about this, too, y'know....totally and utterly serious. Because Brin's not got a Drake around to ask

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Oh." Nick tilts his head, "I didn't know that you were part of them. Cool." He looks over to Brin, "Kind of varies by the person. Some use ingredients, some use words, some don't even realize they're doing it."

"Nick!" "Brin!"

Nick turns to walk towards the counter to get his coffee.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"I do both, actually. But for the Justice League, sort of, well, there I held one end of the portal open. It was very hard, but important." Willow nods.

Timber Wolf has posed:
"See that's real magic" Brin says in awe. "It's real and amazing magic huh?" he sys with an awed smile to Willow and Nick, Brin finally getting his coffee and muffin, gesturing with a shoulder to the tables as if asking if they wanted to come join him. He could use company, Brin isn't about to turn down new or old friends.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
After getting his drink, making sure it's sleeved and doublechecking the lid, Nick turns away from the counter. Seeing the gesture, Nick returns a nod, heading in the general direction of a free booth.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Oh no! I just held it. Everyone else stormed the castle. Well, the planet." Of course, she attacked one mage to bring back the blood sample.. "Most of the time I feel stupid. I look at all those superheroes, and look at me. I really don't belong. But they're nice." She joins then.

Timber Wolf has posed:
Sliding into a seat Brin grins. Sipping his coffee he looks pleased and nods. "I don't belong either. I mean you know, I'm tall and furry and growly and punch things when I get mad so" Brin offers with a look from Nick to Willow. Yeah how to explain oh I'm from the future and all that fun stuff?

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick glances to Willow as she sits down, giving a nod to Brin's assessment. "I think at some point or another everyone gets that feeling." He glances down to his cup, "Everyone has something that makes them different than others."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Oh? You're a Leaguer too? See, I went to England. But you.. okay, your all that, but nothing extreme." Willow had seen weird. Brin doesn't rank top ten. As for the future? Okay, that's hard to accept.

She's sitting across from Nick. "You think?"

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin's not sure if he should be disappointed or not for not even making Willow's top 10 of weird things....though knowing magic, probably....not? Sipping his coffee he nods to Willow. "I am" he says and glances to Nick, "See, you're right, I mean, I stand out but we're all not really normal, are we? I mean, magic, being from the future and...." he pauses, unsure what to comment about poor Nick.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Yeah." Nick replies giving a nod. "He just said he didn't. You just said you didn't. Hell, I felt that a lot growing up. So already that's 3 out of 3 confirming and I bet you can think of a few people already that would feel like that."

He looks over to Brin, pausing as he seems to be waiting for what caused for his own feelings of not belonging. "A lot of bad luck." He replies.

Yep. Not helpful.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Sometimes, it's like everyone else matters. Like I could whisk away, and nobody would miss me.. Wait, from the future? Really?" Then to Nick, "You get to go out with Buffy. Since England.. since, that was my own fault, I guess."

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin nods quietly, watching Willow then Nick again sipping his cofffee more Brin looks like he knows about bad luck. Well...that and, well, time travel.

"Bad luck is just cruel" he decides finally, nodding to Nick then Willow.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
The musician gets a bit confused at the statement. "Go out with Buffy?" He starts to ask, pausing as a general look of horror fits upon his face, "What? NO. We just train from time to time. She's dating Thomas."

He glances over to Brin. "Good assessment."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Oh. You aren't here because.. oh. I'm sorry. That's terrible. Makes my things pretty teeny." Willow's face crumples. "But you got friends? I and Nick! Right, Nick? Wait you think Nick is going out with Buffy?"

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin can't help but laugh. "So....wait....wait, you're not dating this Buffy?" Brin asks Nick, "Well I'm about ten centuries away from my home, you know" Brin admits, looking over his coffee at them. "I got friends, I got you and Nick yes, and my friends like Roc and Shady and Lar and all those folks. They are my family in a way" Brin admits. Hey maybe these two could be adopted family?

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Why would he think th-?" Nick shakes his head, looking to Willow, "Him and I just met. You were talking about going out with Buffy. I'm not dating her."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
Willow *blinks*, then laughs. "Oy vey. Okay, nobody here is dating Buffy. In fact, I am dating nobody. Brin, is lost in space. Anything else?"

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin's quiet for a moment, shaking his head even more as he groans, "Okay, so nobody's dating Buffy around this table, got it" he offers with a quiet contented grin as he shakes his head. "So is this Buffy somebody people want to date? I mean, Willow seems honestly like a quiet and nice and gentle woman" he begins. Oh no, Brin, that may not go well

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Yes, everywhere we go. She's strong, and headstrong, and beat them up.. " Willow shrugs. "Don't worry, Brin. Everybody looks at Buffy. I'm a wee mouse compared to her."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Nick glances over to Brin, giving a shrug "I guess. Some of my old bandmates probably would go for her if if they were still alive and she was a little older. But not everyone goes for that."

He glances over to Willow, "Yes, she has energy. She has fight. But, some guys just want someone they can just sit down, relax, and watch TV with. Someone a bit more calm. Buffy's not that type of person."

Timber Wolf has posed:
Brin shakes his head and smiles, watching them both. "Yes, some people don't want showy flashy types, really" he points out. "But, everyone has their place, yes?" Brin asks with a quiet look over to Nick and Willow.

"You don't want to fight or won't fight, you help in other ways, yes? I fight because it's what I know, but....my family, we all have our strengths" Brin nods sipping coffee still. He's making the coffee last more than he probably should.

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"The thing is, sometimes she is like that! I get to see that Buffy. She says I'm safe." Willow looks to both of them, "Everybody thinks - I think she's spectacular. Anybody can do what I do."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"Really?" Nick asks, lowering his voice to keep it to the table only, "ANYBODY can keep a portal open?"

Timber Wolf has posed:
Okay that's actually an interesting question, and Brin's curious for the answer. Finishing up his coffee, he tears the little paper wrapping off the muffin and chomps into it. It's chocolate and a muuffin. What's not to like, huh?

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Well, no, but.." Willow's cheeks go scarlett. "But no one looks at me, and besides I can't beat them up! Everybody looks to the hero. That's Buffy."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
"And why would you want all that attention?" Nick asks, "Being in the spotlight is not always a good thing. It's invasive and a lot of times you end up getting the wrong type."

He pauses, "Ok. I get that it's probably not convincing coming from me but... I'm not always up front and center on the stage. I also do supporting work and honestly I have more fun with those because I'm not having to focus on the attention."

Willow Rosenberg has posed:
"Yes!" Finally. "Sure, every and again, I wish I was Buffy. But, sometimes I look at Buffy, and think she is lonely."
