Date of Scene: 14 June 2020
Location: Jean's Office - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Welcome to the X-Men, Megan.
Cast of Characters: Cyclops, Phoenix, Pixie

Cyclops has posed:
It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Scott and Jean are currently sitting in her office, talking amongst each other quietly. He's dressed in a pair of khaki pants and a simple polo. He had sent for Megan earlier in the day, asking her to meet with them around this time. In front of him is a coffee mug that says: World's Greatest Teacher. He may have 'stole' it back from whomever took it from him in the first place. He takes a sip from it and hums around the rim.

"Do you think she'll freak out?" He asks Jean. "This is pretty important. Serious."

Phoenix has posed:
Her office, because his is the war room which is a bit more intimidating for the purpose of meetings. On her desk is her own coffee cup, a simple white and gold one, though it looks empty and has a fork sitting it that's probably from lunch and just hasn't gotten to the kitchen yet. She's leaned back in her chair and is wearing a crisp pair of wide-legged black pants and a angle-cut tunic of grey with black chevrons along one side.

"Of course she'll freak out, Scott. Everyone freaks out when you say you want a meeting." She replies to him with a quiet laugh. "It's like being told your dad wants to talk to you when he gets home."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn is pretty darn nervous, even though Jean assured her it's nothing to worry about. But while Jean was the caring doting 'mother' to all the x-students, Scott could be a bit more...Strict. And what's with all those darned detention slips? Either way she's pretty darn nervous as she knocks on the door rather hesitantly before stepping in. "U-um..Mr. S-summers? You called for me?"

Cyclops has posed:
"I'm sure if most of the students met my space-pirate dad, they wouldn't think I was too scary." Scott says as he takes another sip of his coffee. "It must be amazing, flying around on a spaceship with alien pirates, robbing planets blind and being wanted in a million galaxies."

At the sight of the graduate, he gives a nod of his head, motioning to the empty seat across from them. "Miss Gwynn. Take a seat, please." He says in his usual stoic manner. Is there a pad of hot pink detention slips next to him? Maybe. Along with other paperwork. Some manilla folders. But, he's not reacing for them yet! Also, how can one get detention when they already graduated?

Phoenix has posed:
"...your family is so weird." Jean says quietly as she tucks some hair behind her ear. "I still have yet to figure out your dynamic." And from the tone of it, she's mostly given up trying to make sense of it all.

As Megan arrives, she looks up to give her a warm smile and the indicated chair nudges out without physical prompting. "Heya, Megan." She says far less formally. "Want some water, a Coke, tea?"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn glances nervously between the two of them, and yes, she does notice the pile of hot pink detention slips, eyes shifting warily to Scott's hands, expecting him to grab one or two or...She swallows, nodding and laughing nervously as a seat is offered and slides into it. Honestly she'd probably faint or collapse otherwise.

Why she so nervous anyway? Megan is no longer a student, not a minor anyway. But there are more than one way to skin a cat and she wasn't always a total saint in school. "Um...Er...t-tea would be n-nice, thank you.." right, chamomile tea to calm the nerves. "So Er..What did you want to see me about?"

Cyclops has posed:
"I want to talk about your future, Miss Gwynn. Now that you have graduated high school, you are no longer a student here, nor are you no longer a New Mutant, as that particular program is specific only to high school level students." Scott says as he lifts his cup again, taking another sip. Once he puts it down, he reaches for a manilla folder and plucks it up, then opens it in front of them. It's her file. It has quite a few articles in there, notes, documents, grades, evaluation reports.

"As always, we evaluate our graduates and we try to find out what the best fit for them is. Is it supporting them through college? Is it a transition back into the real world? Do we bring someone on as a faculty member?" He calmly flips through the papers, giving a glance down at them, before looking back to her. "We offered Miss Jackson and Mister Guthrie a position here amongst the school, but they decided it would be in their best interests to attend College off campus. We can appreciate that of course. Miss Jackson is a public figure and Mister Guthrie came here originally to resolve some personal issues. Neither of them wanted to become X-Men, or staffers."

"So, Miss Gwynn. It's your turn now. This can either be your exit interview and we bid you fare well and best of luck as we look to help integrate you into the real world, or .. you can accept a position as an entry-level, junior X-Men. Under a probationary status."

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey must pick up on Megan's fretting, because the fairy-winged girl would head the Headmistress' voice whispering conspiratorial in her head, << I may have gotten him a custom tie that looks like detention slips as a gag gift for his birthday. He didn't find it as amusing as I did, but it's still in his drawer. >> On the outside, Jean looks perfectly calm as she goes to heat up an electric kettle on a small side table.

She remains quiet as Scott lays out the offer on the table, manilla folder and all. There's a grin pulling at the corner of her mouth, but she doesn't interrupt the conversation. She seems well advised of it already.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn listens, licking her dry lips, heart pounding. She knew the question if where she goes from here would come up sooner or later and she really doesn't hesitate when the offer is made. "Um..Well I hoped to take a short break from college, maybe become a TA in one of my former classes but..." she swallows, eyes widened. She wasn't sure if they'd really offer that but. "Really?" Megs practically squeaks, Staring at the envelope. "I mean if course I'd love to join the Xmen! it's always been my dream!"

Cyclops has posed:
"Junior X-Man. Probationary status." Scott reminds her again with an amused noise in his throat. "You will join us on some missions, but nothing that is too dangerous. You will be required to partiicpate in multiple Danger Room sessions a week and the training you will recieve will be accerlated and designed to push you harder than you ever have before. You will also be required to take college courses here as well, as we believe that every X-Man should have some type of education with courses involving leadership."

There is a glance over towards Jean for a moment, closing the folder in front of him and lifts it for a light tap on the table so the paperwork inside is shuffled into place. "Do you have anything to add, Miss Grey?"

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey returns in short order and sets the mug of tea in front of Megan - chamomile, as she knows is preferred. She settles back down in her chair, getting comfortable again before she says, "This will be far, far more intensive than you ever did as a student or even a New Mutant. We train to be soldiers, though fighting is never our preferred action if we can at all avoid it. It's our goal to serve not just as leaders, but as a source of inspiration that mutants can live peacefully among humans - even the difficult ones. Your actions will be held to the highest standards."

She gives the young woman across the desk a soft smile, though her words are serious. "You've shown that you have the potential, which is why the offer is being extended. Just understand that if you chose this path, it will guide your life so long as you're apart of the team. You'll be a guardian not just of this school but of mutantkind, and that will require sacrifices." The word is spoken gravely, heavy with memories of teammates gone by. "Hopefully that never amounts to more than some scars and sleepless nights. Not that I mean to scare you or anything, but it's the reality. Better to know the stakes beforehand."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn swallows as she lets the gravity of what it means to be an Xman sink in. #-1 ARGUMENT OUT OF RANGE's something she has thought about a lot, but it was never enough to shake her resolve. It's nit like she doesn't already understand sacrifice with the loss of her father and discovering her mother isn't even her real mother.

"I understand.." she nods slowly, thoughtfully, hands clenching and unclenching slowly, "And I still wanna help make the world better for mutants however I can, it wiyld also be nice to continue classes in campus here.." she smiles, albeit a cautious one, "I promise I won't let you down!"

Cyclops has posed:
Giving a nod of his head, Scott says, "Good. That's settled then. You'll receive some further instruction from us in the form of a welcome package and some paperwork you have to fill out for insurance purposes. NDA as well. You will be privy to information that your former classmates, even in the New Mutants, won't have."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn nods again, trying to retain composure though her wings flutter a bit more, glittering bright gold this time. "I...I understand sir..Thank you!" she bites her lip, trying to keep from squealing or jumping for joy. The Xmen! For reals!
