Synopsis: Megan and Alice discuss costume designs.
Cast of Characters: Pixie, Red

Pixie has posed:
It's a lazy summer day, and most kids are out and about, enjoying the sun and nature. While some people chose to take classes over the summer, Megan was more than happy to take a year off of school and enjoy the finer things in life.

Like getting back into art! And as she watches the kids play in the backyard, she sits on a bench under a shady tree, sketching some costumes in her sketchpad. Megan's not much of a seamstress but she had tons of ideas for her new X-costume. If she could only put those thoughts to reality.

Today, she is enjoying this warm weather in a pair of denim cut-offs, white t-shirt and bright green running shoes, a short green track jacket covering her shoulders from the sun, and the occasional cold wind, bright blue-green wings fluttering excitedly as she pours over costume ideas.

Red has posed:
Alice yaws as she steps out of the building, shortly peering out to the yards before grabbing her own bag of drawing items in a bag. It takes her just a few moments before she is out on the lawns herself and starting to walk off path, halting is she seas Megan sitting there sketching.

"What're you doing there, Pixie?" she asks, eying her over carefully before getting closer and dumping her backpack onto the floor, taking out a sketchbook and some charcoal pens herself.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn smiles as she works on her sketches, wings fluttering excitedly, using her pencil crayons to color in sections of her costumes. When Alice arrives, she smiles brightly at her, and offers her a little wave.

"Alice! Hii! Just the person I was thinking about!" she holds up her sketchbook, showing off a number of her sketches. "Guess what? I finally got accepted into the X-men? Isn't that great? I mean...It's a little sad having to say 'bye' to my New Mutants team mates. But I'm super excited to become an official X-girl!"

She does pout a bit though. "Now I just need to design a unique costume..Buuut, I'm not much of a seamstress...Actually I've never actually sewn anything before in my life!"

Red has posed:
"Ohhh? So you're going all X-womany now? I mean, you're old enough to be more than just a girl" Alice taunts a little, settling next to Pixie to look onto the sketchbook.

"Is there some sort of color line and pattern you have to observe? I might not be good in sewing, but I know my way around making costumes an props... show me what you got?"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn giggles and nods. "Yeah! I'm finally an official X-girl now! Hah, that sounds so weeeeeird, doesn't it?" she shakes her head. "But you know what I mean. I'm finally an official superhero and now I just need a cool costume."

As for colors, she shrugs. "Hm not sure about colors, but I do like short flouncy dresses. like this!" she holds up her favorite sketch for Alice to take in all the details. It's a pic of Megs of course with the bright pink hair, deep royal blue headband and a matching royal blue skater dress that flares out at the hips, falling to a few inches above the knee.

It's pretty simple, with a large golden X emblazoned over the chest, and a handy gold utility belt hanging at the hip. A pair of knee high gold lace up boots complete the look, and it goes well with the team's general blue and gold colors.

"Soo? What do you think? Think this would look cute on me or what? I'm thinking probably some gold biker shorts underneath too, since y'know, I do a lot of flying around too!" she beams, quite proud of her design.

Red has posed:
Alice hmmms as she eyes the sketch, finger tracing the paper's edge before handing it back. "Hm, pretty bold in color, but why not? What kind of material you had thought about? I mean, you drew that rather tight, could be made from Neoprene or something simiar mayby. And that'd be also rather warm and somewhat padding. Or are you thinking more like Lycra? That'd possibly hinder movement less as it woul be a lot thinner, but could be a little breezy if not done well. Rubberize fabric I would so not suggest, you'd cook yourself alive in that."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn hmms. "Well, I suppose some sort of tough yet stretchy material. Dont a lot of Xmen use a tough kind of material for the training uniforms, something that can stand up to standard gunfire? Although of course I'd like something comfy and flexible too."

She ponders, biting her pencil. "Ooh, some sort of light padding underneath would be good, but I g uess you'd know what's best, afterall, you're the premier costume designer around these parts right?"

Megan giggles and shakes her head. "well, wouldn't wanna cook myself. Keeping in mind I spend a lot of time flying so it'd have to be relatively insulating but comfy and practical. But pretty!"

Red has posed:
"I don't know what the X-men use, but that's what is common in cosplay. I mean, Spandex is also a lot in sports clothes while neoprene is what surfers use." Alice notes, sighing at the extra needs.

"Sustaining gunfire is something that's really hard. I mean, there are no bulletproof vests, just bullet resistant. And a lot of them contain a hard plates, often ceramic. That's unless you have some of the more arcane materials, but I don't havve access to those. I mean, something like that stuff that is in the suits of the Fantastic four."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn hmms. "Ooh, how about like, leather? That'd give at least some protection right? Although neoprene would probably be tougher than spandex right?" she shrugs, "Well either way, I really look forward to what you can design. Maybe we can try a bunch of different stuff!"

Megan's getting all excited now, although she knows little to nothing about suitable materials.

Red has posed:
"Leather? That's a material I don't love to work with, but it's versatile. A classic when it comes to clothing and some armors. Some cut protection but not at all against bullets. Aramid fibers are cut resistant and can be used in nice composite materials. And they are also used in bulletresistant vests." Alice explains.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn nods and hmms, "Well that's cool. Heck, maybe I can get a removable armour plate for extra tough situations. I've never heard of Aramid though, what the heck is that about? I guess as long as it's comfy and not too bulky, I'd like it." she grins. "Wow, maybe we should just make you the official costume designer of the X-men.."

Red has posed:
"Aramid is the polymer type that's also known as Teijinconex, Arawin, New Star, X-Fiper or, as para-aramid, the well known Kevlar." Alice notes, chuckling a little. "With the right setup it can be flexible but also rather strurdy. Me? as the official costume designer? Why and why could you choose that?"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn oohs. "That's really cool! Well if you could make it thin and flexible and comfy and not too heavy, that might be the way to go! I think this is a pretty simple outfit, maybe I need some leggings or pantyhose too though? What do you think would look best but be practical?"

Red has posed:
"Well, if you can fin the material, I bet we could make something like that... an yes, when making a costume always include underwear. That's a rule of cosplay. Include underwear that is comfortable and doesn't make you embarrassed." Alice chuckles. "Some cosplayers include safe underwear under more risky ones that belong to their character."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn giggles a bit. "Well, I AM planning on wearing shorts under my costume as well as underwear, naturally." still the thought makes her smirk a bit. "Oooh, by the way, I was wondering if you might make me a gift for a friend? I'd be willing to pay you of course..For both the costume and for the gift for a friend..Here.."

She turns the page on her book, presenting Alice with another picture, this one of Superboy, wearing his signature leather jacket with the 'S' emblazoned on the shoulders. Megan does blush a bit self consciously, "His last jacket was destroyed helping me fight the Goblin Prince and I figured it would be nice to surprise him with a shiny new one. What do you think?"

Red has posed:
"Depens on what you want for your friend, but I can look into it." Alice notes even before Megan turns the page. "Hmmm, I think that could be made but I am not good with leather. I can rivet it, but I'm totally not ok with sewing it. If you can find a good match for a jacket, I could possibly make the coloring and the markings..."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn nods. "Alright..I'll see what I can find..That would be cool. Thanks Alice! I'm totally looking forward to seeing how these turn out." she giggles. "And I hope to pay you well for your work too!"
