Shopping for College. Starting from scratch
Date of Scene: 20 June 2020
Location: Mall - Salem Center
Synopsis: Andrea and Jay go shopping for new clothes for College. Jay meets Fernando.
Cast of Characters: Rage, Icarus

Rage has posed:
It's a beautiful and busy day in Salem and Andrea wanted to spend it out and about on a shopping excursion. It's the first one she's had since graduation and instead of dresses, this time she is looking for something more casual.

As she strides in through the doors of the mall, she takes in a deep breath of that clinical, recycled air, then says, "I can smell the deals. I think today is the day my credit card will catch fire from how many times I swap it." Giving a glance over to Jay, she offers him a wolfish grin.

Today she is dressed in light blue sundress that hits at the knees with thin straps over her shoulders, a long black purse and sandals A pair of expensive shades sit on the top of her head. "We're going to look great on our first week of college."

Icarus has posed:
Jay is trailing along beside Andrea, dressed in his usual attire. Baggy jeans, a hoodie to keep his wings hidden. Although, that probably isn't going to last long if she goes insisting on him trying on clothes. At least it will be to a minimum though.

"You already look great. You don't need to buy more clothes for that," he points out with a grin. He gives a bit of a shrug. "Pretty sure your credit card should already be broken after graduation. We could just...I dunno. Window shop."

Rage has posed:
"Hardly, babe. My credit card just had a workout during graduation. Now it's time to hit the gym hard." Andrea says as she reaches out to snag him by the hand, pulling him closer with a grin.

"It's just a few outfits for our first week. We have to look amazing. You included." Tiptoeing her fingers up his chest, she gives him an easy smile on her face. "I'm also swimsuit shopping." She hints. "And I need you to tell me I look good when I try them on."

Icarus has posed:
"Didn't I just say you look good no matter what? Put on a burlap sack and you'd be hotter than hell," Jay says with a laugh, giving her hand a squeeze but following her lead through the mall. This is her territory. He's just a visitor.

"I don't need anything fancy. Jeans. Hoodies. Tank tops. It works for the best since we'll be at a public school instead of somewhere I can let my wings show."

Rage has posed:
"You also need something for date nights. I'm not taking you out to La' Cheri in a tank top and baggy jeans." Andrea says as she squeezes his hand tighter for a moment. "And there is nothing wrong in treating yourself, Mister Guthrie."

As they pass by the stores, she doesn't give most of them a second look. She has her eyes on a certain corner of the mall where the 'better' boutiques lay. "But, we'll get you some hoodies and tank tops before we leave, promise. Are you excited to start college with me? Maaaaybe find yourself a fraternity so you can spend the days playing beer pong with some bros?"

Icarus has posed:
"That doesn't sound like fun at all," Jay mutters. "Why would I want to join a fraternity? I just need to make a few friends and I'm good. The rest of that is just crazy to me." Spoken like a true country boy from Kentucky. Things were simpler in his mind.

He is glancing at various stores as they pass, considering the window displays before moving on to the next. "I'm looking forward to college sort of. At the same time, a little bit scared. It isn't something I had planned to do and it's a little intimidating."

Rage has posed:
"A fraternity is a life long bond of brotherhood that will always back each other up, even when they're being dumb and silly. It also looks great on a resume." Andrea says as she swings his hand a bit as they walk. "What's crazy about it? We were New Mutants. It's the same thing. A frat is like a team. Just with more drinking, parties and good times. Don't you want to draw letters on your chest and go to football games shirtless and cheer the team on?"

There's an amused smile on her face as she bumps her hip into his playfully. "College is just high school without curfew. We got this. We can be normal and have fun. We're in this together and no matter what, I won't let you fail, okay? You believe me?"

Icarus has posed:
At mention of the going to football games shirtless, Jay has to laugh. He reaches down to pat his stomach through his tank top. "You want me sharing these abs with everyone? I'm shocked, Andrea. Completely shocked."

He does get serious though, shaking his head a bit. "Yeah, I trust you. I know I can do this. Now. You asked me that when I first came to Xavier's, I wouldn't have been able to say that. You were a big part of that too, not just the school itself."

Rage has posed:
"Of course I want to share your abs with the world. Do you have any clue how much enjoyment I get from smelling another woman's jealousy in the air? There was /plenty/ of girls at Xavier's that lusted after you, but they wouldn't dare make a move on you." There is a smug look upon Andrea's face as she leans into his arm and shoulder. "I can't imagine why though. It's not like you were my boyfriend or anything."

There is that wolfish way about her again. Confident and Alpha. It's easy to imagine /why/ other girls didn't hit him up. "And you definitely can do this. You're going to have a lot of fun. High school is about finding yourself. College is about /being/ yourself. So this is the era of Icarus and Rage, ruling the hallways of NYU. Come on." She says as she tugs on his hand, taking him into an upscale department store. "We'll start here. I booked us a private shopping session with one of /my/ stylists. She's wing friendly."

Icarus has posed:
"You...what?" Jay blinks and looks at her sharply. First, he was just going to tease but when she mentions smelling the jealousy and how much she enjoyed it, he was caught flatfooted. That brought him to a screeching halt for about half a second, mentally and physically. Then he shook his head and continued to walk.

"I obviously didn't want to be with anyone. I didn't even want to be for a while. At all. But you were there, always. My best friend. It took me a bit to recognize it was more than that."

He chuckled a little. "I didn't know you were enjoying tormenting others though. Don't go turning into a mean girl on me now. The fact you were the nicest person I met has been key to us becoming us. Wait. Stylist? I thought this was just shopping and now there is a stylist involved? What did you get me into?"

Rage has posed:
"I know you didn't want any of them, but that didn't mean I wasn't going to protect you from those who would try and get with you. I didn't want you to feel uncomfortable or obligated to turn them down. Girls are nothing but drama." Andrea says as she continues to grin wolfishly. "I just quietly made it clear that you were off limits."

"Much like how you would make certain phone numbers from celebrity soccer players disappear." There's a knowing look on her face as she squeezes his hand again. "But, it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy asserting my dominance here and there. I am a wolf after all, and nothing comes between a wolf and what she desires."

Leaning over, she kisses him on the cheek. "And yes, a stylist. That /is/ a part of shopping. Someone who knows the current trends and has an immaculate eye for detail."

As she spots a young man with bright pink hair, she waves her hand. "Fernando! Hello!"

"Gurl, there you are!" A couple of cheek smooches later. "So, this is him, huh? Let me take a look at 'em." Fernando starts to circle Jay, humming to himself.

Icarus has posed:
"He was a jerk," Jay mutters in self defense at mention of the lost phone number. "You deserved better. I like to think you got better too. Someone that will treat you properly at least. Like you say, you have money and that's all he had that I don't. Well, and a talent for soccer. I'm better at football." Being American, they are not even close to the same thing.

As they meet Fernando, he gives a smile and was going to offer a handshake but seems to be getting circled like chum with a shark swimming around it before taking a nibble. "Nice to meet you."

Rage has posed:
"You knew him for thirty seconds and made a lot of assumptions about him." Andrea says with a smirk on her face to him. "Sides, he was hot. He'd at least have been fun, temporarily." She says teasingly to him, bumping her shoulder.

"Nice to meet you too, darling." Fernando says as he starts to make some notes in a small book he carries with him. His own wardrobe is loud. Bright sparkly blue pants and a yellow button down shirt with a hot pink flamingo on the back. He's Hollywood and a half. "Now I see what all the drama is about. Red heads." He gives Andrea a look, who merely shrugs sheepishly back.

He gives a snap of his fingers as a young woman jogs out with a measuring tape to hand it to him. "Arms out lover boy and hold still, feet together. I'll be grabbing your crotch so don't too frisky." Wait, what now?

Icarus has posed:
"What?!" Jay was not prepared. As he is set upon, he had followed instructions like a good little boy. His arms were put out to his sides so the woman could measure. Still his wings were hidden for now since the hoodie was in place over his tank top. But at mention of where he was going to be grabbed, down went the arms and he was backing away from the predators.

"I don't think I know you well though for you to be doing that. And I definitely don't see why you would need to. My Ma used to sew clothes for us sometimes and she never had to measure...that!"

Rage has posed:
There is a loud sigh from Fernando as he dangles the measuring tape in his hand. "Amateurs." He says as he gives Andrea a look. Fix this. Woman.

"Jay. It's for the inseams." She sighs out loudly. "Faster he gets the numbers, the faster we can start picking out clothes. He'll have to tailor them to fit you /properly/." As in, pants that fit and not hang off his rear.

"Come on, hurry up." She says as she holds her arms out as the woman starts to measure her.

Icarus has posed:
"I'm good with baggy. Baggy helps hide the wings," Jay points out but he stops backing away. He gives Fernando the narrowed eyes, as though this was all his fault. Finally he just closes his eyes and puts his arms out.

"Fine. Fine. I just don't see what's wrong with my clothes. You seemed to like them before. Especially the tank tops." He's muttering like a grumpy child.

Rage has posed:
"We can't go out to a fancy place in baggy jeans and tanktops. They have dress codes. It's just for one or two outfits, then afterwards, we can find normie clothes." Andrea assures as she moves as asked by the girl who is taking her numbers.

Fernando just gives Jay a wide grin, then goes about measuring him about the chest, then his waist. "Don't worry sweet-stuff. I won't tell my husband about this." He tips a wink to him, causing Andrea to giggle off to the side.

"Fernando is doing us a huge favor. He's the best and he's really busy and booked. Buuuut, he looooves me."

"I sure do, fuzzybutt. You weren't joking about the abs." He says, giving Jay a few pokes in the tummy with his finger. Then, he goes for the inseam! Clear! He is at least quick and doesn't grope him. He's a professional after all. "Okay! Got them. I'm thinking a white tie. Maybe silver. Something with a pearlescent shine to it."

Icarus has posed:
As for the decision of what he can wear, Jay has no idea honestly. He'll trust the judgement of the professionals. Fernando, Andrea, even the woman over there helping measure his girlfriend.

When he can, he drops his arms back to his sides. "Fancy place. Right. Like that restaurant you mentioned. You know that where I come from, we only have one fork, right? So you might not want to go too fancy unless you want me to embarass you or something."

Rage has posed:
"Babe, you could never embarrass me. I only use one fork also." Andrea says.

Fernando lets out a loud gasp. "Andrea Jackson! That is scandalous. You only use one fork? You /harlot/."

Sputtering out a laugh, her eyes roll upwards as she hooks her arms around one of Jay's, tugging him after them as they head to the back of the store. "I know, right? Don't tell TMZ but I refuse to lift my pinkie when I sip my tea also."

Fernando makes himself buys as he starts fishing about the jackets, humming a peppy tune to himself as he goes. "That red hair of yours makes my job so easy, sweet-cheeks! It's just black, black, black! I could be daring and put you in something white, maybe with a darker slate gray pants. Hmm.. "

Andrea is currently watching with amusement, leaning over to steal a kiss from Jay's lips. "Trust me, this will be worth it." Then, she leans in and whispers against his ear.
